It’s Chinese New Year and I have been lucky enough to celebrate with Miu’s family in Yangzhou again this year. I have always found it interesting how celebrations differ from place to place, and family to family, so hopefully this video gives you a little insight into some of the traditions that take place for us.
Whether you celebrate spring festival, Chinese new year, the Lunar New Year or are just interested in learning more about my life and experiences as a foreigner in China, I wish you a very happy, healthy, and prosperous Year Of The Rabbit.
As always, comment, like, and subscribe to show your support!
Thank you for watching! ❤️

Happy Chinese New Year! 🧧🧧🧨🧨❤️
Happy Chinese New Year! ❤️❤️
I'm from Yangzhou. Currently live in New York and have not been home for 4 years. I was going to take my husband home to visit in May 2020 but due to the pandemic the trip was canceled. Thank you for showing me my hometown!
Hopefully you’ll be able to visit again soon now that things are opening up! I will have more Yangzhou videos coming out soon so stay tuned to watch more! Happy Chinese New Year ❤️❤️
happy Chinese new year
Happy Chinese New Year! ❤️
Happy CHINESE New Year.
Happy Chinese New Year! 🥰 (or Lunar New Year/Spring Festival/ whatever it’s called in your part of the world ❤️)
Never been to Yangzhou, but it is a city in history best known for romantic stories. Guess that’s the kinda vibe for you guys now. Btw, the strawberry you were eating looks super crunchy.
It’s definitely more romantic in summer when Slender West Lake is in bloom and not -11 celcius! (We weren’t brave enough to go this year 😂). The strawberries were so juicy and perfect 😍

Natt! This was so good! I enjoyed so much getting to see your boyfriends family and the way things are here traditionally. You have such a unique perspective and experience!
Thanks so much! ❤️ PS. You totally should have used to alternative thumbnail for your last video ;) I laughed so hard 😂
@@ExpatNatt 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it’s my new life as a circus act.
Happy Chinese New Year.
Happy Chinese New Year! ❤️
All the foods you had in this video for Chinese New Year look delicious and the seafood dish looks like jellyfish to me.
They were really good. I don’t eat seafood so all I knew was that it was seafood and I couldn’t eat it 😂
Your are right. It is jellyfish. The dish is called Haizhe.
@@kevinxue7810 Thank you for letting us know! ❤️
Great video, never knew about this city so thanks for sharing I really enjoyed it 😃. I recall the story of Nian haha 😅
Thank you for watching! It was my first time hearing of Nian but I had heard a very similar legend in the past and wonder if they were from the same legend ❤️
@@ExpatNatt ahh, at my former training center job we had to teach the story of nian so that’s how I’m so familiar with it haha 😂
Fantastic
Thank you!❤
The restaurant food looks so yummy.
It was delicious 😍😍

I really liked this long video! If your significant other's family made all of the food in both meals that you guys had with them, then they are impressive! The stone flooring at 4:14 has such a cool design. Also, did your partner just let the cork fly off the balcony? Lol 😆
Thank you! Yes, they cooked everything, I only filmed some of the meals as well as we didn’t want to be rude by having our phones out. Yes, he let it fly over the balcony 😂😂
lovely
Thank you ❤️
enjoyed so much
Thank you for watching! ❤️

Thank you ❤️❤️
Great video Natt! Thanks for taking along to Yangzhou. Happy New Year! 🐰🥳
Thanks for watching, Thembi! Happy new year! ❤️
That is a terrific train journey, the speed and comfort is comparable to air travel.
You have a lovely family and it was fun watching you all together celebrating.

Thank you for watching! I absolutely love traveling by rail in China (I much prefer it over flying!) Happy New Year! ❤️
Love sharing this special video with you xxx
Thank you ❤️ Make sure you eat some spring rolls xx
Like the previous comment, I have also never been to Yangzhou and am glad to see this nice video. Upon checking the map, it looks like just a stone throw from Nanjing. Unlike some other videos I saw that showed huge crowds, this one is very calm and relaxing-among great food, family, and museum visit, of course. I don't recall if I had seen red ink rubbing before, nice job by the way!, as I had only seen black ink rubbings from stones before.
Thank you! I believe Slender West Lake in Yangzhou was incredibly busy but we didn’t visit this year since we went last year. I have a full video about Yangzhou if you wanted to know more, and another relaxing Yangzhou video lined up in future so stay tuned! ❤️
Happy Chinese new year 🎉
I live in Shanghai too 😊
Happy Chinese New Year! ❤️❤️
Natt this looks absolutely gorgeous! Miss you x
Thanks Pia! I miss you guys soooo much 😭😭❤️
Happy Lunar New Year from Kelowna, BC Canada, wishing you and your family prosperity, happiness and good health. Wow lots of food yummy enjoy!
Thank you! You too! ❤️❤️
❤️🐰Blessed Be 🐰❤️

How about lion dance , Chilin dance, dragon dance? Any local but feastival food?
do you and your bf still get red packets from the elders?
Yes, we didn’t expect to this year but got even more than last year! We felt so guilty we gifted most of it to Miu’s parents and bought the family a big dinner. I think once we are married we will no longer receive them.
@@ExpatNatt That's right. According to Chinese tradition, before you are married, you will always be treated as child, who still eligible to get red packets.
@@hodgenhe I think everyone was expecting us to be married already 😅😅 Maybe next year 😂
@@ExpatNatt although married, parents will still give red pockets because they always their children
😈😈😈
❤️❤️
an excellent and fun video!
