    Mate, I'm an Aussie as well, and I went to China a few years ago. You are 100% correct. China is NOT like we've been told back home. People really need to visit China to see the true China. I was pleasantly surprise at how advanced and futuristic China is. I also went to USA. USA does NOT compare to China. I felt safe in China (and I'm a White Aussie male). I did NOT feel safe in USA.

      @@User-mf3pe I learnt a few Mandarin words ... not much (gratuities, salutes, 'destination' words, and 'want' words). But I got around with English. Many of the younger generation spoke English, so it was easy to find help. Plus you've got Bing (Microsoft) Translator. Google is banned in Government building due to their Data Storages being housed all over the world in different countries. Microsoft is used, because Microsoft build Data Storages ... in China only, for China. Actually, Microsoft does the same thing for our Australia Government. However, outside of Government buildings (like in Australia) people use what they want, even Google. The most popular Search Site in China is Baidu, and you can use Baidu Translate (they have their own Internet Satellite Constellation, all over the world, faster and better).
      But, you can get around China with English. Everywhere I went, they had the Mandarin Signages coupled with English, and in specific Provinces, they had the signages in Mandarin, Local Province Language and English.
      In China, everybody I met were extremely friendly and accommodating.
      You must go to China (oh, I believe you can buy from Amazon, a dedicated Translator device ... but you'll have to sync it with their Satellite Constellation. Buy the device in China (I never got one, because I didn't think of it at the time ... but next time, I'll get one).

    China isn't our enemy, our enemy is ignorance. Exploring their culture is a way for us to understand what our commonalities are instead of focusing on our differences. If you make negative remarks about the Chinese government, it will affect whether future generations can enter government agencies and state-owned units. @@josieliftsthings Well, for ur own sake, things should always go this well ala u do not question or mention politics or history as a tourist in China, and don't expect the land-locked areas being even as good-moraled as Shanghai (in fact many Chinese people from land-locked areas openly post hate speech towards Shanghaiers even on Twitter, some even going as extreme as demanding of massacre and human trafficking & enslavement...partly for some Shanghaiers discrimminate against them, but partly just because they view the Shanghaish civillizedness and open-mindedness as abnormal, if not traitous) ... Chinese people usually tend to nicely treat foreign tourists as "guests" though they are just passer-bys to them, but the majority of them would show their sensitive super both imperial and national inner side if triggered by "the alien", just as what "western media" says, if not worse.

    I've visited China four times and saw different regions. Every time I've visited... I've seen big improvements. I would even be bold enough to say that the major cities in China are now overall cleaner looking than the major cities in the US.For one example, I've visited public parks in Shanghai and was amazed at how clean they look. No litter or graffiti anywhere... even the skateboard rink looks clean. And there are lots of people out there enjoying the parks... but seem to have respect for the facilities there.The greening of the city is very good, and there are many electric cars on the street, which proves that the Chinese government attaches great importance to environmental protection.What impresses me the most is that life is very convenient, a cashless society, the subway system is very new and clean, and the people are very friendly.Other than some culture shock, I feel China is very safe. You can also go out late at night. China's technological level is beyond my imagination. I feel that the future is in China..But In the US, I dare not go out at night, for fear that black people will shoot me.
    have fun in China and God bless you.🤲🤝❤

      The core difference between China and Western countries actually lies in the relationship between the individual and the collective. Western countries place more emphasis on individual interests, while China is the opposite. A typical example is the street cameras. In the eyes of Western media, this is the best evidence of China's invasion of personal privacy, but for the majority of Chinese people, it represents public safety. The fact is that China is almost the safest country in the world, not only in Shanghai and Beijing these metropolises, but almost the entire China, even in remote rural areas. You don't need to worry about personal safety or property safety. So no Chinese person would object to street cameras. Compared with privacy, ordinary people care more that you and your children can travel safely at midnight, and your car parked on the side of the road will not be stolen. Another extreme example on the contrary is the issue of guns in the United States, so no one would say that the United States is a safe country. The scariest day of my life was at 9 p.m. on February 2019, when I was walking with my wife in the downtown of San Diego. It could only be described as a real-life "The Walking Dead".

You are not alone, hope you will enjoy very long stays there. You will be safe at ALL times, even in the middle of the night!!! Western media reports on China are full of lies and mislead Western readers, especially lies to smear the Chinese government for committing genocide in Xinjiang. In fact, the Chinese government has actually given preferential policies to ethnic minorities beyond the national level, and has a policy of extra points in the college entrance examination for ethnic minorities. People with lower scores than Han people can get into top universities. Even if they commit crimes, ethnic minorities receive lighter sentences than Han people. The Chinese government also allocates funds to support minority areas every year. Xinjiang's population growth rate is the fastest in the country.

    Thank you so much Josie for sharing this video on UA-cam. To be honest with everyone, I grown up in China before I moved to Australia. In our education in China there has always been good things in our study about foreign counties. We were told to learn the good things from foreign countries. Nothing bad. Until I came overseas I got so confused why the media advertised so much bad things of China. Especially on something that pretty much other countries did the same too but then only the same that was done by Chinese would get badly advertised. A lot of things were twisted and people believed the media that’s what frustrated Chinese. What’s worse is its very hard for Chinese to find a way at oversea that they could speak up for themselves as no one would believe how China is from outside of China. At the end people were wondering why Chinese people gets aggressive easily as they have been misunderstood for too long. I’m so touched when seeing posts and videos like this. Normal and real, nothing twisted. Thank you!

    One thing that you will not need to worry about China is safety. You will notice cameras every corner of the street. People thinks twice about commiting crime in China. Enjoy Shanghai

    • @龙腾洞观
      @龙腾洞观 Рік тому +44

      No, associating security with cameras is a misconception. It's said that London has one of the highest numbers of cameras among major global cities, but does that make it as safe as Chinese cities? In China, even in suburbs and rural areas without cameras, it's just as safe. What determines safety primarily is the overall economic condition of a country, followed by the level of governance. If the economy is poor, having more cameras won't help. Are there no cameras in those big supermarkets in the United States? Yet they still get robbed

    ❤As a Chinese who grew up in China, studied in Europe for a long time, and now works as a tour guide for foreigners coming to China, I am very grateful to you for showing the real China. Hope you have a wonderful experience in China! Due to political interests, many Western media have always been biased against China. China does have many shortcomings, but these shortcomings are not as terrible as reported by the Western media. I have many foreign friends, some of whom really want to come to China, and I would love to lead them to have new experiences across China. Most Chinese people are very friendly, China is huge, China's culture and society are very diverse and interesting, in different places in China you can find a combination of tradition and modernity, different foods, languages, religions, lifestyles, China's Nature is also beautiful. I am very happy that more and more people want to come to China and learn Chinese. This is the best way to understand a country and gain experience. I hope more people can visit or live in China and become friends with Chinese people. There are many political prejudices not only in China, but also in the world. More cultural exchanges need to be established everywhere. More cultural exchanges can help us put aside our political prejudices. We need a more open and inclusive world. We welcome all friendly people!❤
