Hi Karen I live in Spain now but I come from Youghal co cork via Blarney co cork and always look at your posts ,I am from a farming background and I must say you are a woman in a million for what you have taken on,your family must be very very proud of you. Keep up the good work you are a credit to your family
Karen, thanks for another great video. You are absolutely right regarding your sitting down day job and exercise, it's important. Good luck with the new arrivals.
Lovely video Karen. You could try burning off and mulching the rushes followed by minimum till ie disc harrow and powerharrow. No point in ploughing that ground as you'll only be bringing up even poorer soil as well as the stones. Obviously soil test and fertilise and lime as required. Min till works well for grass establishment. Keep up the good work 👏
Awesome video again Karen thanks, great to see the 135 out doing some work. Don't beat yourself up to much it takes time to perfect things, you just need to use the muck grab more. Then the beautiful calf comes along and makes all the hard work worth it your doing a fantastic job. Thanks again take care and stay safe 👍 😊.
Hi Karen. I see the 135 is still going strong. But you really must get that PTO shaft and the other bits for your 'New to you Massey' lol. That new calf looks a perfect example, fit and healthy. I am with you on reseeding that piece of ground! Good luck ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Karen, A lovely time of the year seeing new life come on the farm, just need spring weather too. It must be better being with your animals piking silage than stuck in a gym looking at the wall. Put a target in your muddy gateway then get the local kids to throw stones at it. Problem solved, no muddy gateway and no stones in the field. Your little muck spreader has done you proud, it will get easier with the loader in time. Not easy with the size of the spreader though. Cheers, Poth.
Just a beautiful calf ...a wee stunner !your doing your best in this shocking weather ....well done you !non stop rain up here in the west fields are in muck
Hi karen. .search for overseeding with a guttler. Ive seen fields sprayed off and seeded with a guttler. Works very well. Worth trying and cost to do an acre wouldnt be huge If you could find a contractor with one locally it would be worth a shot to do an acre of ground. . It would make a good video. Do a soil test to see if it needs lime. Few loads of slurry out on it to drive it on Then see if its worth doing more
Have a look at The Rare Ruminare. He has various soil types in his farm and lots of rushes. He has many trees planted so that the roots better drain the land. Slowly but surely the rushes diminish as the roots deepen. Sporadic planting is best. Any rushy field bordered by mature trees sees a two yard line of lovely grass infield parallel to the trees. As the extent of rootage reduces the rushes take over. This can be seen on many farms. No ploughing, rotating, spraying or roll lick on required. Tree guards are required.
Great work Karen, Do soil samples in the field where your thinking of reseeding, broad spectrum I do here. It's interesting to know what's going in the ground. Excellent video, hard working lady , 👍
Hi aye Karen, great video, that’s a big boost the cow calving her without having to assist her !! That’s a good looking calf, Simmental calves tend to be a bit slow to get going ours were always slower than our Limousin calves they were up and flying around very fast !! That’s a great 135 you have it looks really smart !! You really suit the 135 !! You look a great team together !!👍🏻
Here in Sweden there are a lot of stones what i see farmers do is pick up the stone with a manure fork after plowing you could try that with your wheel loader
Morning Karen, another cracking video Is it possible, that field with the lake in the lower ground and all them stone, could historically have been a quarry We have a wetland wild foul area near us, that was the result of aggregate extraction, that too has reed, moss n poor grass away from the water's edge, with plenty of stones poking through the surface Take care Geoff
What a cute boy, looks like his Mom! When you're piking, let your mind wander as much as possible. I used to do that for my mental health. Nobody bothers you when you're doing that, lol. I just realized you are over 19k, good for you.
I know how you feel about that ground but soil testing and getting the fertility right cultivate and reseed takes money but would be worth it in the long run
I have never seen such a manure spreader that holds like one scoup of manure . As a young farmer years back, we had really basic farm machinery that was not nearly even what you have available to use. All the ones I have seen are 4 wheels and pulled that would hold like four or 5 of the amount you can spread at one time.
Great videos karen, I was thinking you might want to do some soil tests, the PH level may need to be corrected with some lime especially the field with the bare spots, keep up the good work kid!!!
If the pto shaft is only about 6 inches too short for the 390 then instead of getting a new shaft you can just get an extension which goes onto the tractor shaft, most dealers have them or there are plenty on ebay
Cracking new calf and instead of reseeding the ground how about getting a few tractor trailer loads and use front loader to level it while you have it and reseed the topsoil
Hi Karen from sunny Spain. That's another youngster to your family and a big he is a big lad. I can see you are chomping at the bit to seed that field, so would I. Tell your dad you will settle for a bigger muck spreader, just a wee bit of reverse psychology 😉👍💙
Working slowly with the loader is better than working fast with a muck fork. Also have you tested that field for lime, any lime rep will do it for free.
If you work 8 - 10 hours a day away from the farm, where do you get the energy to work after a full shift like that on a farm yet? And, how many hours each day do you work?
Moss means its soure ph is down soil test first put out a load lime on that ground spray it off over seed it you would not need pick stones roll them in
Hi there Karen 👋 another lovely video 💯, brilliant muck spreading 👏 I've never seen a muck spreader like it with no wheels just on the three linkage 😮, but it works for you😊, how long have you had it? P.s lovely calf, is it's mum ok with you? She looks very calm with you and new born ❤, keep up your videos, respect to you and family 👪
It was made for me last year out of an old oil drum by a friend so it's great, saves me piking it out of the transport box. That cow is OK but not the best, I wouldn't trust her
Ay up used your trick for lifting trailer with 3 point linkage.,needed to pick my old trailer up thort ummm a rember how she’s picked that trailer ip brill trick 👍👍
Where is the 390? Give it a run. Girls night out will they all fit in the cab may have to put the trailer on give it a run to shake the wood worms out of it, would the axle out of the donkey's cart hold out. Did your father or grandfather make the trailer? You're going good time is flying 😼👶🤸
I'm not sure if reseeding that type of ground is worth it.. I've done it, it's fine for 2or 3 yrs did back to square one with rushes growing as bad as ever, we're just getting too much rain around here.. If I'm passing and i see u picking stones I'll give u a beep 🤪
Well karen, if your thinking of putting out lime, let the dung break down a bit first, you should be ok after a few weeks, if you put lime out first you have to leave it for roughly 3 months before putting out slurry/ dung, but if you put out slurry/dung first you are ok with lime (2) weeks after.

Thanks very much!
Great video, beautiful spreader!!
Karen, thanks for another great video. You are absolutely right regarding your sitting down day job and exercise, it's important.

Cracking calf there, great to see the 135 still gettin out an causes very little damage to the ground. Great vid. ❤
Thank you ☺️

Great work Karen, lime and a run of a spring tine harrow is the best job to get rid of moss without re seeding
you are a credit to your family doing the farm and a job
That was great work with the 135 on the farmer and class outfit the best of luck with them karen ❤❤❤❤
Congratulations on the new arrival 😂, lovely looking calve
Nice baby calf ❤

It definitely got easier as the day went on, I got a better feel for what I was doing. Thanks!

Great job Karen, lovely looking calf. Stones aren't too bad a fairly decent roller will drive them down.

Great video Karen. Great calf 👍🏼. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼👍🏼
You'll have to get a bigger spreader for the new tractor
Hi Karen Good strong calf Best of luck
Another great video Karen ❤❤❤❤
Hallo Ķaren another top quality calf its great when everything goes well your lucky with the ground after àll the rain

Oh I will definitely check it out thank you! the more natural the approach the better
Another very interesting video Thank you
Great job on the muck spreading , it’s best to get a soil test done takes the guesswork out.
Another enjoyable video and happy new calf
🆒 Video KAREN ...That Looks Like..A Real Pain In The Muck..!!!!
The ole 135 putting in a good days work. 👍👍
Great work Karen,

Well done , your learning to load it well done like everything practice is the only way to become proficient at anything. ❤
Good stuff. Try putting some lime in with the dung mite help kill the moss
Great video as always Karen 👍
Some machine operator. Lovely videos - informative
Thank you 😊
Very good Karen. Must be great land in Kerry. A person couldn't walk our fields in east Cork. Water every where and not a drop to drink ha ha
I don't know how the 135 travelled it to be honest because it was spongey under foot
Lime or even some granulated lime that you can put on with your fertiliser spreader will help to kill the moss.
Best of luck with the calf 🤞 all goes well
By god that's a right handy spreader
Great video
Power harrow & plenty of fertilizer is the only treatment for that horrible ground. You are one helluva of a worker....Keep 'er Lit.
Here in Sweden there are a lot of stones what i see farmers do is pick up the stone with a manure fork after plowing you could try that with your wheel loader
Yuu could do with the stones in the gateway. Also a bigger spreader. Great video thanks Karen
Great video karen
Great video. Would you consider topping that ground, spraying the rushes and top seeding it. It works well.
Maybe. I don't know if it would fix that place though
Karen looking Beautiful
Gorgeous calve
You certainly make my day Thank you sending love from Australia ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

To be honest I don't really know the history of it before my grandad bought it but back then it was peat bog land
What a cute boy, looks like his Mom!
When you're piking, let your mind wander as much as possible. I used to do that for my mental health. Nobody bothers you when you're doing that, lol.
I just realized you are over 19k, good for you.
Would you not give it time to rot Karen, Would make better manure.
I know how you feel about that ground but soil testing and getting the fertility right cultivate and reseed takes money but would be worth it in the long run

As a young farmer years back, we had really basic farm machinery that was not nearly even what you have available to use. All the ones I have seen are 4 wheels and pulled that would hold like four or 5 of the amount you can spread at one time.
It's a homemade one made by a friend of mine to suit the 135 so I can do it myself without getting a contractor to do it
yay for youre new simmy. big healthy calf.
youre welcome. go kerry.
Great videos karen, I was thinking you might want to do some soil tests, the PH level may need to be corrected with some lime especially the field with the bare spots, keep up the good work kid!!!
We did them 2 years ago and it needed the lime so it got it but we saw no improvement at all since. Maybe it takes more time...
@@karenmoynihanfarm Might need some micro nutrients or possibly plow it up and reseed it
390 is a bit big for the spreader 135 is grand
Another good video Karen x❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Get the topper out and top that partial and keep it topped. It will help grass
You’ll be able to pull a fair sized spreader with the 390. I easily pull a 6.5 cubic yard spreader with our 390.
I'll have to afford it first 🤣
If the pto shaft is only about 6 inches too short for the 390 then instead of getting a new shaft you can just get an extension which goes onto the tractor shaft, most dealers have them or there are plenty on ebay
Thanks for that I never heard of it before but will check it out
Cracking new calf and instead of reseeding the ground how about getting a few tractor trailer loads and use front loader to level it while you have it and reseed the topsoil
Iron sulphate is usually good for getting rid of moss and feeding grass, dont spill it on concrete though as it'll dye it orange 😂
😳😳
Hi Karen from sunny Spain. That's another youngster to your family and a big he is a big lad. I can see you are chomping at the bit to seed that field, so would I. Tell your dad you will settle for a bigger muck spreader, just a wee bit of reverse psychology 😉👍💙
🤣🤣 Enjoy Spain!
Ya may look about getting farmer phil down to pick the stones he does be looking a bit a work for it and sure it wud make a great video doubleact👍🏻
Working slowly with the loader is better than working fast with a muck fork. Also have you tested that field for lime, any lime rep will do it for free.
That is very true. Yes we got a soil sample done 2 years ago and limed it but haven't seen an improvement
Well done the calf he is some calf
Smashing calf!
And he's probably the weakest of the now 3 I have. hopefully the next 3 are as good
Great Calf xx
If you work 8 - 10 hours a day away from the farm, where do you get the energy to work after a full shift like that on a farm yet? And, how many hours each day do you work?
In the spring/summer I do more on the farm in the evenings compared to the winter but I do the majority of the farm work on my days off
@@karenmoynihanfarm You are a very busy person, that's for sure!
Hire a mini digger for a weekend and peg some stone from that field into the gate area?
You need a small tow behind with wide tyres
Hi Karen, brilliant video as usual what day did you have that sunny day.
I'm so jealous I can't remember one dry day this year so far. ❤
That was Monday week ago I think. I was just finished up and it started raining again but thankfully I got most of the day dry
Try the bucket ,ti fill muck spreader
Buy a pto extension might save u from buying a full new pto shaft and u can use spreader on both tractors.
Didn't even know that was a thing but I'll check it out now
Farmer Phil might go down with his stone picker but it's probably too far away
Very far away
Pike silage, ln cavan we call it grape silage 😂
A grape is a fruit 😂
Brawo dla ciebie, jesteś sprytną dziewczyną😊
great video
You would certainly not want to get your brand new tractor dirty either
Just came for the accent… ❤subbed 😂
🤣🤣🤣
You did a good job, you'll be throwing it in there from other side of yard after a few goes on loader 💩💨 🚜
Moss means its soure ph is down soil test first put out a load lime on that ground spray it off over seed it you would not need pick stones roll them in
I think the bucket is a bit too big for the spreader
Great title for today's video Karen 😛😂 Are you sure that field with all the stones wasn't formerly a Roman Villa 🤣
I can't believe only one person commented on my title 🤣🤣
is the manure a bit fresh to throw out, its better broken down more.
I have nowhere to store it so it has to go out in the same year
Hi there Karen 👋 another lovely video 💯, brilliant muck spreading 👏 I've never seen a muck spreader like it with no wheels just on the three linkage 😮, but it works for you😊, how long have you had it? Stone would be handy oise some muddy gateways.
Physical work better than any gem
You're doing a fine job with everything. I hope a bigger muck spreader is in your future. 🤠
Few loads of top soil if you can get it for the bog bog field Karen
Ltes Get The Muck Out of Here! You are flirting with danger!
I don't know what you're talking about 🤣🤣
Get farmer Phil with the stone rake
It would be a trek for him
put on some lime with the fert sower try and get the ph up will take a few years
That got lime last year
Ay up used your trick for lifting trailer with 3 point linkage.,needed to pick my old trailer up thort ummm a rember how she’s picked that trailer ip brill trick 👍👍

I'm pretty sure it was a homemade job but my Dad or Grandad didn't make it. I must ask my Dad about it actually
Keep the dung on it just spread grass seed on it with your manure spreader and roll it in

Oh sound! 🤣 I must keep an eye over the ditch at the neighbours because they reseeded the year before last 😅
Don't abuse the pike😂😂
🤣🤣
135 is in great nick
Who knew that "Stone picker" is an actual job? 🙃
😂😂 the machine so I suppose the person operating it is also a stone picker
Well karen, if your thinking of putting out lime, let the dung break down a bit first, you should be ok after a few weeks, if you put lime out first you have to leave it for roughly 3 months before putting out slurry/ dung, but if you put out slurry/dung first you are ok with lime (2) weeks after.

Turn back the top one to the last and turn the grab and it will fall in ok anymore give me a shout
