- In today's video I'm replacing posts and fixing up fencing around the farm. Small jobs in multiple fields but great to get it done. Dad came up with a great idea to remove the end of a broken post to keep things looking neat.
It's heartwarming to see you taking so much pride in keeping the family farm alive. Your dad has to be a happy pappy, knowing and seeing that you are taking care of what he worked hard for. Thanks for sharing your videos 😊
Thank you!
What a work ethic you have, your Dad must be SO proud of you
Thank you!
You have a beautiful country Karen love you’re videos that you make ❤❤
Hi Karen, I'm impressed with your fencing skills, your like a well oiled machine 🤣. The old fulcrum trick works every time, your dad is handy to have a round. 💙
A loader is a great fencing tool.
Love your dad’s hack. It’s a great example of MA, or mechanical advantage.
The cattle sure seem to be enjoying the great outdoors
Great work again Karen You should stand up on the back of the gator when you are driving the stakes
Agreed. I am over 6ft but the extra leverage from standing in the gator makes the job so much easier. 👍
Great entertainment Karen love your videos and your smile . Hope all the family are keeping well.
Thank you 😊
Hi Karen another great video that’s a brilliant hack of how to remove an old fence post I’ll remember that and say thanks to your dad for me. Bet you got a post knocker on your wish list. Look forward to your next video
Hi Karen,
Fair play to you for getting those stakes driven. By no means an easy job. When you get your loader fitted to the 390, you will be able to push them in with that. In the meantime, I would stand in the back of the gator for height and drive them that way, and if you turn the sledge sideways, you will spread the blow better over the top of the stake. I see where fencing has been added to TAMS 3. It might be something worth looking into.
Good advice there Karen, mind the back always.....great vid..
Not only are you and dang hard worker, but Beautiful to boot! Wish I lived closer I would love to do some of stuff you do. Oh well I will just keep enjoying your video's! Take care, and thank you!!
Excellent job Karen , always so impressive . ♥️👍
Your a great worker and farmer ...power to you
Excellent content presented brilliantly as usual . Should be the voice of agriculture
😅😅 thank you
A simple pile driver will drive those stakes far easier and better...when you get one you'll be kicking yourself for not getting one sooner!
She's.. A.. Committed Farmer...And She Looks Great !!!!!
You've certainly got a good swing on that sledge hammer, you work your socks off. Sounds like you will be having rabbit pie for tea LOL.
You cant best a good bit of leverage, what a team you and your dad make.
Thanks for another lovely video, hope the weather holds out for you.
Cheers, Poth.
I don't even like rabbit 😅😅
Karen, I will be off the radar for a while. I am going into hospital next week for open heart surgery. I will be looking forward to catching up on your videos soon hopefully. Hope the grass crops well so you get a good stock of silage bales in.
Best Wishes, Poth.
Dear Karen in glad you are doing well and your dad to .that grass is looking good and the cattle look great thanks to you I hope you have a great weekend .
Sorry I messed your video yesterday, had to rebuild the disc harrow broke 6 disc’s and lost 2 bearings ,now I got my work just in time for dinner then back to the field in the morning great video btw !
😬😬
Your dad was listening in science class when they explained the law of the lever
To think that people pay at the gym to work up a sweat and we only need to do a day's fencing😂
Great job Karen. I'd say those stakes will be around for a good spell👍
😅😅 I know. ya in fairness they should last a decent amount of time
You would find driving posts easier if you had a proper fencing mallet as what you are using is a sledge hammer designed for smashing bricks and rubble.
Well done ❤
Fasen vad du är duktig att jobba och du snygg å vacker tjej och du använder gummistövlar underbart ❤❤❤😊😊
Hi Karen thanks for sharing another awesome video, great job on all the fencing repairs you are quite a dab hand with that sledgehammer. You see 👀 dad's do know best sometimes 😅, thanks again take care and be safe 👍 😊.
Yes sometimes... 😅😅
Karen like you I have destroyed many post tops over the years with the sledgehammer. Picked myself up a post rammer / driver in a local hardware to drive some posts around the house and it was a a game changer...no more damaged posts. Available in various weights /sizes from different suppliers so it may be worth seeking out one. Keep up the great work, really enjoy the vids.
I admire you for all the hard work you do, to make what needs to happen get accomplished,. Swinging that sledge hammer is hard work... Proud of you for taking an interest in the farm and working so hard to make things happen that need to be done!!!!!
Thank you! 😊
looking good. and the fence. job well done
Great video Karen. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼👍🏼
Great video keep up good work lovely see dad out helpping you love watching videos
you're well able for that crowbar.. ooh god the memories of many a post driven using one of those
Great video again every day is a school day.
Nice Hack , what a workout 😊 good work
Great hack Great video
What a brilliant hack idea. Thanks for keeping the videos going Karen
Your English is wonderful. Good luck with your farm.
Great work done Karen, looks to me like ye are a good post whacker!
what a sound cattle pulling mouthfuls of grass
Thanks!
Carry a box or something to stand up on to give yourself more height it will make your life a lot easier and save the back abit, your doing a great job fair play 👍
Hi Karen Another great video You need to get a loader for your 390. It would be great for driving the stakes
I'm in the process
some one told me once calving within 2 weeks before the due dat you had a heifr calff and late calvers usually have bull calves. Really enjoy watching your videos and i also learn a few tricks for my self. Thanks
Thank you! I'd love a replacement heifer from her though 🤞🤞
Have a go with a post thumper, not very expensive but really helps getting posts in over and over without too much damage, order one that is the right size for the posts used most often, that way they go in straight 👌
Great video and great job on the fencing! God those rabbits really did clip the grass down! I see you've plenty of buttercups too like myself after the wet winter 🫤🫤
I've more than buttercups! I've never seen more weeds
Super stuff as always
Looks like ride the lightning t-shirt ❤
It is
Good job😀🚜👍
Fair play to ya ur not afraid to swing the sledge 💪🏼tell ya what i do is i stand in the linkbox up a foot or so of the ground and ya get more power down on the post 👍🏻 COME ON MONAGHAN
This didn't age well 😂😂 poor Monaghan 😅
🤒😭 ill get me coat 😄
Great work with the fencing Karen , high tensile wire is hard to work with at least its done now for a long time
Good job 👍
Another good video Karen your doing a good job x
Thanks
Karen I hammer in my own posts too. I use a 3x1 foot folding leg builders step up work bench. When you stand up higher it is easier and gives a longer stroke of the sledge or post mell. Aluminium work platforms are light to care
U cud back the gator up near the stake and stand in the back of the gator so u will be up over your work and it will be easier to drive the stake into the ground
You should make yourself small wooden platform to give yourself more hight when knocking in your fence posts you'd find it alot easier.
Sure there would be no work in that then 😂
Your a mad woman with that sledge 😁 keep up the good work 👍
😅😅
Well Done Karen 😁👍
Handy hack there, sometimes I stand on a drum or steps easier to hit the long post.
I will remember your dad's hack for the rest of my life. I'm 100 percent sure it will be useful to me.
That's great
Great video Karen. When using the sledge hammer for your posts try dropping it flat more hammer to hit the post
I do at times but it drives it down better with the head I find
@@karenmoynihanfarm good job any way. Loving the videos
@@jamieelson5019 Thank you! 😊
you should use the back of the gator to stand up on when driving in the posts if they are too high for,but well done on the fenceing
Hallo Karen another great video driving posts with a sleadge is hard work did you ever use a smal post pounder the are a great job and the dont damage the top of the post
I haven't but might invest some day
This girl Rocks ❤
😊😊
Good stuff
Rabbit maintenance 🙆your gas 🤣🤣. Weather has been crap again,, fingers crossed it will come and stay this weekend..
😂😂
Get dad to weld a plate on a bit of pipe that fits over post then gives a good flat place to hit and no damage
Beautiful fencing Karen looking Beautiful shean is so beautiful sending ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Id be looking up a few rabbit recipies
😬😬
Hi if you hired a petrol Auger with 5” bit it will make your life a lot easier you will bore all the holes you need in a few hours we done it here we even put holes beside older stakes that will need replacing in the future
That was a good idea
@@karenmoynihanfarm Thank you Karen there a great tool saves a lot of swinging of the sledge 😂😂
Great wee video Karen. Great work. Noticed you don't use steeple for the fencing. What was those black things you drilled into the posts?
They're insulators to keep the current in the electric fence
Another great video Karen, thats a handy hack getting the broken stale out,the high tensile wire is tough to use on your own,i sometimes use tying wire, its used to tie steel together, its a lot lighter and easier to use,it might do the job for you ,you can get it in any co op or building providers
Thanks for the tip!
Love watching your channel …..????for you on your pastures in the early fall can you top your pastures then aureate(poke holes in ground with machine)then spread seed on ground…..over seed is this possible in your area
Maybe that could be another option
Once you get a loader on the 390 you can put sand in the bucket and push those posts in with it
how you doing karen . jack of all trades as always. good on you girl. hopefully the weather is better. about time lol. dont it look nice when the animals are out. hope you get back a loader to help you . keep smiling and happy . go karen . the green and gold kerry karen. enjoy.
youre welcome. go on kerry.
The next time you've to hammer in a post, pull the gator up beside it so you can stand in the back to gain the height you need.. 😊
Hi Karen
You should stand up on the gator driving them stakes
Too easy then
Could you put the gator along side the post you're knocking to stand in and hammer a bit lower ? Rather than above head height.😊
I could but it wouldn't be a challenge then 😅
Hahaahahaa. You are brilliant. I love your channel.
@@danjdclark Thank you 😊😊
If your having trouble with the posts being to tall stand in the back of the gator but good job
Get a post pounder, much handier than sledge. What tester was that you used.
It's called a boundary blade. it's a knife and fence checker in one. pretty cool 😅
You should get a timber mallets, it will do less damage to stake
👀🙄🐾👍
FIRST...🆒 Video KAREN !!!!
Use clipex posts with its own post driver. There galvanised with there own insulator. No crowbar, no sweat, same price as the one's ur using. When reseading don't forget lime. Its critical
I've looked at clipex and they're more expensive than this. they also have a couple of down sides
What are the downsides. They last 30 years+ u can put them up in seconds, not effected by stones. The posts ur using won't last 10 years No need for high tensile wire, u can get plyable wire, it carries the same currant
@@anthonymccluskey3822 if the wire slips off it's touching metal which kills the whole current. That's the biggest downside. Trust me there's plenty of stakes that have lasted longer than 10 years here 😅
The wire can't slip off, it's connected to a very strong insulator, i should know i have 500 hundred of them on farm
@@anthonymccluskey3822 I've seen videos of where they snap off. I'm not saying they're not good just saying they have their flaws too
Some woman for one woman!
💪💪🤣
Your getting to be a dab hand at fencing now Go Girl 😀 the way you swing the sledgehammer hope no blisters
None. I just gloves most of the time 😄
You should buy a petrol powered post rammer make post fitting easier
I'd get lazy then 😅
It's rabbit season, you'll have to start rearing them, plus no dehorning for you to worry about 😂😂
I might go into rabbit farming instead
well done Karen your better than two men.
🤣🤣
Neice lady
I saw how you lift the broken one shovel in the post on ground near to broken one and you have more power on bar any else let me no
Dad's knowledge ah,years of torment I reckon
🤣🤣
You need to have an Easter Bunny Shoot on your Farm
🤣🤣
Impressive video! :) Does your husband know about your upper strength? I have been in construction my whole adult life and I don't think I have ever swung a sledgehammer over my head, like you did. lol Maybe that is where you get your figure from? You are already very pretty but... man... you could be a model too! When should we meet? ;D
Did you ever play camogie you have some power in those hands
Camogie wouldn't be out forte here in Kerry 🤣
Pole driver needed
He's hoping big red don't give birth to a semitank, big calves are sometimes off to a rough start to life.
Hopefully not!
Karen I’m glad you don’t have to fence for sheep, you would know all about it then !
😅😅
Pencil stake
Hi
do u have a loader or one u could borrow if ground is tough u could push them down with it the stakes i mean that what i do as far as the rabbits either a rifle or dogs and ferrets and nets at their burrows the ferrets will flush them out if u know of a hunter that uses that method
I'm in the process of getting a loader now but will prob be a few months before I have it with the attachments
@@karenmoynihanfarm u dont need attachments for driving a post i have a jcbtm300 i only use a part of the jib she only about about 3 inches wide and about a ft long it a flat bit put on on top of post press hydraulic down post should go
Calf could be off a polled bull
It's not although would be handy if it was
