The little spreader works well. Kudos to the builder. He should put that out on the market.
I completely agree
There isn't too many lads sadly that'd know how to fill it!.
Looks like she is willing to help with anything
That is what you call very good Daughter .Hard worker
Not many Girls wouldn't do them jobs .Great Girl to have on a farm
The most polite and hardest working Farmer on tube so nice the hear the manners Your parents must beam every time your name is mentioned I hope your Dad gets better. Boston
The dung spreader was soo brilliant whoever built it and designed it is a brilliant innovator
I am so astounded sooo fantastic 👏 I have no words to tell how impressed I am brilliant brilliant brilliant I just love your feeds big xoxos and then some
Well done Karen , it’s good to see someone farming simple without the latest machines that most Real farmers couldn’t afford
I like you have filled many a rota spreader with just a grip ( fork ) as we had no loader tractor when we 1st started farming many years ago , I’d fill the spreader up quick just so I could take the fordson dexta down the field to spread ! Lol , good days
It’s hard work farming and getting harder , food to see your enthusiasm as you build your buisness up
Keep smiling even on the bad days girl, cus most couldn’t do what you do
Need a small chain harrows made up they’ll help spread the muck aswell
Great video, and attitude, fitting I'm watching this on International Women's Day, your a credit 👍
Awesome piece of kit. And even better that it was repurposed from an old tank. 👌
Hi Karen
If you put the pto lever down and reverse before you fill it it will wrap the chains round the shaft.
When you get to the field you push the pto lever back and you will be moving before the muck starts coming out.
It will give you a more even spread and easier on the 135 for start up.
Thanks for the tip!
No problem
Try that and let me know how you get on.
@Tom Quinlan That's an excellent tip Tom! I understand what your saying that wrapping the chains will take the pressure off tractor for the initial start up. Now are you saying to stick the pto lever in "ground drive" and reverse to wrap the chains?
@@philipoconnor2236 that’s exactly what I am saying,
Much easier to start machine and you are moving before muck starts coming out.
Hi Karen, just found your channel about a month ago and its brilliant your a credit to you dad he must be very proud. We keep about 80 cattle in county Antrim and we only use dung as we don't have any slatted sheds with tanks. I've found dung far better for the ground as it doesnt seem to grow as many weeds as slurry does. I usually go over it after spreading with a heavy chain harrow to break it up so it goes into the ground faster. I think that would be ideal for you aswell. Your spreader is fantastic looks like it was built by a big name machinery brand. Keep up the good work you're awesome!
Thanks very much. Yes I can see how the harrow would do a good job. Maybe that will be an investment another year
The Chain Harrow would be brilliant, especially for spreading the material out.
Thank you Karen subscribers for donated the parts 4 the spreader 2 keep her going have a nice day.
Nice looking spreader Karen
Great video Karen
A subscriber from Mansfield Nottinghamshire, Love and respect for yours hard work 💪 keep up the good work and keep the new videos coming ❤️
Thank you
I think farm Flix and Grassmen need to pay you a visit. Love you
I wouldn't have any room for the lads in the tractor 😅
What a fantastic little spreader! That'll save you so much time. Yes the 135 has what's called a dual clutch so it can be left in gear whilst you engage and disengage the PTO
Good to see a young farm girl who can spread shit lol
At lest you have a love for what you do on th farm and a real pleasure to watch thanks for that keep on doing what your doing and i hope you are getting something out of it for yourself as i to have come from a farming family.
Hi Karen. Suggest you run a Thine Harrow over that field to help the Grass. With soo much moss you need to Scarify it to promote more airflow to the soil to have a healthy grass sward. I would immediately spray the grass (if you have a sprayer) then with Iron to blacken and kill the moss (or spread iron powder with a spreader if you have no sprayer). The moss will just suffocate the grass - but if you treat with iron it will allow the grass to grow. Also running a Spike Aerator over all the grass will make a big difference and help with compaction and promote a better grass sward.
What a legend of a guy for making you that. Really hope you get a ton of subscribers. You deserve some nice equipment. Great stuff. Stay safe without that back window. Start furthest away and try never to drive over what you spread.
Thank you
Fair dues to the chap who built the muck spreader.
A handy little item on many a small farm. I’d consider get it galvanised Karin
That’s a great little spreader .. fair play to your friend for putting it together… another fab project
Well done Karen that's a tidy bit of kit, very well made ,will save a lot of time and effort for you 👍
That Muck spreader looks great and good investment
Well done Karen, mighty job for your first time, The PTO lever forward is called ground drive much slower and will only turn when the wheels are moving. But you figured it all out and a fab idea with your engineer, 😊😊
Hi Karen, a woman's work is never done ? Another great insight on what life is like for a small farm.Your new spreader works a treat, brilliant first time effort. As they say, the more you do it the better you get.Looking at the reviews you get on your videos I'm surprised you haven't got more subscribers. Remind people it doesn't cost them anything to subscribe and emphasise how important it is for your channel. Keep up the good work your a credit to your Dad 👍
Thank you!
To clean out the spreader when finished fill with water and spread it in the same way I had one for years .
I must say I think your Mac spreader is quite an amazing piece of engineering and I think if that was put into production it would sell well for small firms
I did tell him that but he can't source enough of the old oil barrels unfortunately
Your friend has made you a great little muck spreader..I hope he finds a place in the market to sell these .keep up the grand work Karen.
Great job Karen, I’d usually start spending at the far side of the field and work my way back across to the gate, it’s what ever works best for you 👍
Talented craftsmen he did a great job building it for you, fits the 135 well. Good job!
That is a cute little muck spreader, a lot of small holders could use one of those. When Irish Eyes are smiling, never apologize for the work you do when you are entertaining us would be better music to go with your lovely smile. Thank you for sharing.
You don't stop business 👍
Karen good luck with your new muck spreader martin flaherty.
Brilliant video Karen, what a brilliant idea 💡 a muck spreader for a small tractor. Your a hard working girl, I doff my hat too you.
That spreader was well made. Hope it makes life easier
Hi,
Found your channel accidentally, one of your vids was recommended by UA-cam & I've binge watched since! You are an inspiration! You shud be so proud of yourself, you're doing so well. It's been great watching you at work & seeing the beautiful kerry countryside. My mother is from Dingle, i spent every summer there as a kid on a dairy farm, all your vids take me back to my childhood summers, i remember picking stones from the field, driving the cows along the kerry country roads & playing on the farm. Sorry its a long msg but i wanted to tell you what an amazing job you're doing, it's hard work on its own, without a a second job. Keep up the good work
Thank you so much for such a lovely message
Great video Karen that’s a very handy spreader you done a great job 👌
There are 2 settings on the 135 pto, if you pull the pto lever forward you get ground speed pto if you push the lever back you get 540 pto speed ,for your job push the pto lever back
Thank you, that's what I ended up doing
Well Karen, very handy muck spreader with out a doubt u not get better fertiliser/ than manure good job, ur tractor is ground drive if u put the leaver forward, if u put the leaver full back she is in pto gear, with a good reave great worker, kieran from Laghey donegal town
Great video Karen and a great spreader
That's a nice tidy addition to the farm...it's cool seeing one that small!
Great video Karen handy little speader 👍
What a handy bit of kit, fair play to you it worked out perfectly, great video again Karen, keep them up
Thank you
Well done Karen you’re doing really well you will master it
Fair play to you Karen you are not afraid of hard work nice little machine and well made by your friend keep the videos coming
Your friend made a good job of making it, your definitely getting the hang of it, sure you learn as you go
What a great bit of kit and made from an old oil drum as well. Excellent fabrication work and it works too.
Fair play to u karen the videos are very good and the spreader is a big help to you
Great job Karen
Fair play to you Karen, you are learning and you will learn. It is all about knowing your machine, so keep going and all will be well. Looking forward to seeing your progress
Fairplay to you, your one hell of a worker! 🏴
Well done, love the new machine
What a nice man that helped you out!
And he's helped me out plenty of times before
Well done Karen. That's a great addition to the farm.
You are getting a good workout forking it in but at least you don't have to fork out in the field.
Fair play to your friend for making the spreader.
Thank you for sharing and stay safe.
That's a great machine hope it does well for you it looks very well made👍
Fantastic job Karen.i love watching your videos well worth waiting for .x
Thank you!
Great channel really enjoying watching from donegal..!! Keep the great work and if you spread a bit of granular lime on that field now you should get good grass growth
Pretty neat concept for a spreader. As long as it works for your needs run with it. Those little Masseys are great all around utility tractors.
That’s a great idea for a muck spreader and it works ! Well done to your friend and also to yourself for mastering it . Anything that makes work easier and saves your back Karen is good. Well ware.
You can buy them from named brands too
Lovely piece of kit Karen. Your doing a great job. Great channel. 😊
Thank you!
Fairplay to you Karen brilliant job a wee chain Harrow on it, great for breaking it more and get into the soil quicker hands up to you great we edition to farm 👏👏👍👍👍
Well done Karen, fantastic job by yourself and your fabricator. That will save you some hard work.
Great stuff! I know the struggle that is the 'levers' and PTO. No new equipment here either! Excellent channel, all the best
class bit of kit!
Mighty job, fantastic spreader.
If the spreader is throwing to much muck out to fast your friend could always remove a few of the flail heads for you ,And take care around the pot shaft
Brilliant item on the farm, you will be able to spread the dung out of calving pens straight away, a handy tip for washing it, fill the machine with water, than go out the field and spin it, it will take 90% of the muck out and will leave it easy for washing out, bit of burnt oil and paint brush than and it will keep it right from rusting, that's what I do, keep up the good work👌
Thanks for the tip
Well ware Karen, that's a very handy addition to the farm. Fair play to your friend, talented man.
Best of luck with it. 🍀
Thank you
That’s a great little spreader that will be a great bit of machinery for you Karen , it’s not all about big bits of kit it’s what works for you and that will be a good machine for you.
Nice simple muck spreader! Farmers ingenuity for sure.
Love it. Thanks for sharing. I just found your videos and am looking forward to the next... great job
Thank you
What a great little machine does a great job I can see other small farmer wanting one of these to and as for spreading in the field just go up and down the longest hedge working across the field.
That's a very handy muckspreader
Learning! Good for you. Never be afraid to try something. 👍 You'll figure out better and easier ways to do things as you go on.
wow that looks good. I bought pallet forks for moving round bales after seeing your 135 with a bale spike. now I want a muck spreader for my 135 after seeing this !
😂😂😂
Doing it fine the way you are saves a lot of work 🙌
Hi Karen that’s a lovely spreader well wear
watching you from Abu Dhabi (originally from Cavan), love the channel, well done and keep it up. spreader is a nice neat piece of engineering
For a homemade projet that little spreader works well and will save you a lot of time doing the job, what ever way you find easiest and works best for you I would say do it Karen 👍
Hello from cumbria in North England...just discovered this channel and I'm v impressed too see a young lady working hard like you do ... its a great handy spreader your friend has built you there and you seem too be mastering it well... most folk would generally start off spreading along a fence line or hedge and just keep working away with parallel passes I guess just gauging how far the spreader throws the manure to get an even spread across the field and in a way that your not running over the manure you have spread already and have it stick too the tyres and drag it out onto a road....look forward too more vids showing how your getting on with your jobs...👍
Thank you!
Nice bit of engineering, it looks like a professional bit of kit. Like a Fleming mini which holds about 200kg. I'd add flotation wheels for a bit less weight on the tractor and stability on a slope.
Great looking machine, really well made. I'd say a lot of people would buy one of those if they could!
I'd say they would
I usually spread on the part of the field furthest away from the gate I came into the field and slowly make my way to it and try to cover as much as I can
Hello Karen, greetings from Switzerland ! My grandparents raised Simmental, I have inherited a 135 and bought our house from Irish expats (who are back in IE now) so I can relate in many points 😄although no one is farming anymore within my immediate family. Keep up the good work, you are very inspirationnal !
Thank you 😊
That's a neat bit of kitt, really make ur life easier.. 👍
We'll done Karen, well made machine 👍
Hiya Karen,
another great video; thank you very much.
Only two runs, and you had it sorted? You're a very clever lady; well done. It would have taken me a lot more, but I've no training in tractors.
Great watching you. There is an old saying, "I could watch someone else working all day!" I'm so glad your friend sorted this for you; as you say, it will save your back long term.
Nothing too big as you don't need a massive piece of kit; your farm size only.
Stay safe, Steve...
Thanks Steve
Which ever way works for spreading it about Remember to run either a diamond tooth or spring harrow over to help break down the large clumps and spread it out Great job to you and your pops 😊😊
nice to see you again hi from Norway
Hi Karen new to your channel but enjoying the content, the new muck spreader suits that little 135 well, also just a bit of info on the 135 it probably has what's called a Live PTO which means that you have to depress the clutch peddle all the way down to get the PTO into gear, also the same peddle does the gears, so with the peddle halfway down you can change gear and the PTO will keep running, but depress it to the floor and both the tractor and PTO stop moving I have a Fordson Dexta which has the same system and it takes some getting use to but it's a very simple system once you do,
As for spreading the muck just start on one side by the fence and work across from there but try not to run on the part you have already put muck on unless you have to of course.
Thank you
@@karenmoynihanfarm No problem hope it has been helpful.
I think by the way Karen was talking the 135 has ground driven pto when the selector is moved the opposite direction.
@@SuperDiscovery95 That's possible as the manual does mention about ground speed PTO, but not all 135 were fitted with that option but all of them have live drive PTO.
Kar as long as your happy and the dung is out it doesn't matter how ya spread it. Very tidy machine and handy wash out fill with water and spread it out
Really handy muck spreader brilliant talent & build for a project when spreading don't spread into the wind
Brilliant love your videos from Pennsylvania USA
Thank you
That looks a great item. I would definitely buy it if it was on the market.
That was a nice tidy up them ditches get out of control very quick
Karen I have a mini muck spreader on a massey 35. I find if you fill it and leave the outer ends less full it does not throw heavy lumps on the first start up. And start with some reves and when you get going well slow the reves a bit and it will go further. But it needs reves to start and some times it does stall the engine. Handy wee spreader for wee tigh sheds. And if you want to clear it for storing I use the driest muck or bedding I have and it sweeps it out. Keep up the good work. I managed 7 loads over an acre last time a nice wee light dust. Rab from the North.
Thanks very much for those tips
I would start in the middle of feild then take in lands like you were plowing maybe pull a spike harrow set light over it to spread it little more beats a pich fork any day
Hi Karen. Found your channel a few weeks back and have subbed ever since. Your doing a grand job with/for your dad and thank you for the videos. As for muck chucking, (and this is only my way of doing it), I would start on the up and down runs fron the side of the field thats furthest away from the gate and work your way back to it. Then just before the last run (of the ups and downs) I would do the bottom headlands, then the last run back up toward the gate, and finally the top headlands. Everyone has thier own way of doing things but my goal would be to avoid running over as much freshly spread muck as possible as the tyres would grind it into the grass (which would not do it much good). I agree that who ever built that spreader for you has done an amazing job, looking at it you would never guess it used an old barrel. Top job.
Thank you!
Fascinated to know what kind of oil drum was used on rotary spreader, it’s certainly not what springs to every one’s mind when you say an oil drum, maybe an old oil tank for heating or something. Curious.
