I hope this helps atleast someone decide whether to preorder. I have already had a comment on Reddit to say it is click bait nonsense, so I hope that this isn't seen as click bait, and really goes over what you would expect from the title, whether you should consider upgrading from the mentioned devices, or not. Thanks all 👍
@GodhearmyprayerwiththewishingS I would guess that the FOV is likely to be the same if not better than the PICO 4 or Quest 3, which is a good starting point 👍
So many reviews and opinions about the Quest3. But I'm glad that not everybody is totally hyped. People should tell what it is. I want to have the Quest3 because I expect an improvement in detail, compared to my Quest2, but not so much with my Pico4. If I had programs like Beatsaber and Holofit natively on my Pico4 I might not even think of buying a Quest3, but would rather wait until the Pico5 comes to the market. I have been following all news about the Quest3 so far and I was hyped. But at the moment... I can wait another few months....
The next year is going to be a very interesting time for VR, and the PICO 5 will no doubt be an excellent headset, I just know that the reviews for the Quest 3 will have a lot of hype in the coming weeks, ill try and stay balanced 👍
@@DayDreamerVR Great. I have seen too many people being excited. Not bad, but I'm not one of those who only praise and thats why I liked your video. Stay normal about it.
I have Quest 2 and Pico 4, and I pre-ordered the Quest 3 for several reasons. Beat Saber, Quest Pro controller compatibility, wifi 6e, MR capabilities. But you gave me a few more PCVR based reasons, so more to look forward to, thanks :)
I have a Quest-2, Pico 4 and a Reverb G2v2, due to compression for sims, the G2 is so much better especially for distance viewing (looking down the race track seeing other cars and corner markers), the compression in the Stand Alone HMDs just ruin the immersion in this respect, I've tried USB tether with both and the Pico Streaming assistant needs a LOT of work to be where it needs to be, so since there's no real difference, I decided to go wifi with Virtual Desktop and seem to get a better image this way but still not to the level I would like it to be. The Pico 4 has the same panel resolution as the Reverb G2 (2160 x 2160 per eye) but yet comes nowhere near the G2's clarity and intensity as far as visuals in sims, for general room scale VR (beat saber and so on), all above HMDs perform well and even then, the G2 still has that little bit better clarity and color saturation. The joys of a display port connection and no encoding and decoding, just a pure uncompressed image! :)
Totally agree, display port will remain the best way for image quality and consistency, especially in racing sims. PICO streaming assistant is way behind virtual desktop and even further behind oculus link. I would recommend trying the Quest 2 with virtual desktop, then again with Oculus link with usb, with the bitrate set to 960,i found the difference even with the Quest 2 is quite incredible!
@DayDreamerVR I'm hoping to get a VR headset soon, possibly in new year sales. I have a RX 6800 GPU and 5700x CPU. I'll mainly be playing Half LIfe Alyx, No Mans Sky, The Resident Evil VRs, Elite Dangerous, and I do like racing games. Would you suggest the Pico 4 or N3L right now? I will mainly be paying seated.
For racing and flight sims the PICO Neo 3 Link will be the better option with better image quality, lower latency, and slightly less demanding on your system, and if you play other games but don't mind the wire then the Neo 3 Link will give a better image quality, and lower latency. The PICO 4 has more accessories and better comfort. So I think it will mostly come down to what you value most. Hope that helps 👍
I have the pico 4, I have now taken my pico3 out of the cupboard and tried again. I can tell you that for me the pico4 will be in the cupboard for good. Pico 3 much better image colors and clarity, but with dp. In this case its pancake lenses really aren't any better.
I've had loads of connection issues in the last few days with the PICO 4 and Quest 3, and I do have the Pimax Crystal, but I had been considering selling it, but all the issues has made me want to definitely have a display port headset of some sort. PN3L is very good, it would just be good to have a few more reasonably priced options. I don't feel I can buy the PN3L for a 3rd time if I sell the Pimax, it's at a great price on amazon uk at the moment though
Great video. I am torn between the Pico 3 Neo Link and the Quest 3. I do not have a top of the line GPU in my PC though... The ideia is to use both wired exclusively to sim racing. Which one would you get on my case?
Neo 3 Link will give a very low latency, and good quality image, so might be best for racing sims. The Quest 3 will be slightly more comfortable, can have a good image for sim racing over oculus link with a USB cable and the bitrate at 960Mbps in the Oculus debug tool, but latency will be high at around 55ms.
Sorry, what do you mean for development? If you mean for working in VR, then a potential alternative which has eye tracking (but not face tracking) could be something like the immersed Visor, but that still needs to be seen. So if you need face and eye tracking stick with the Quest Pro for the moment and see how that progresses, or what other options might become available 👍
I've pre ordered a quest 3 for both stand alone & pc sim racing. I do own a pico 4 but I'm not impressed with the lenses I sent my first pico 4 back & even the second one still has issues with the left lense,( bad quality control )
Awesome, hopefully we'll both be impressed when the Quest 3's arrive, I think they will be a big improvement for sim racing over the PICO 4,and if you haven't tried it before, do oculus link over usb and copy and paste 960 into the encode bitrate in oculus debug tool. The image quality and smoothness is amazing (with a Quest Pro), but should be just as good with the Quest 3 🤞
Only use standalone and I always use side quest to boost up the resolution on my quest 2. I’ve been waiting for a better resolution quest. Delivery on Oct 12. 😁
Bro same lmfaoo been doing that ever since I had the quest 1💀. Finding out we'd get that type of resolution but better made it easy for me to preorder this one, not including all the other improvements like the lenses and the new controllers
I don't have a quest 2, just the 2019 model Quest, and I want to get a newer headset so I'm considering quest 3, feels like it'd be worth it since it seems like a massive jump in quality
This is the good thing about meta and 120hz though. I find that synchronous space warp to be excellent at 120hz with no ghosting. Hopefully the Quest 3 will be the same, the all you have to generate is 60 frames, and you get the smoothness of 120.This way you need a gpu which is less powerful than what you would need for the PICO 4, or Quest Pro, or any other headset that has a maximum of 90hz so can't take advantage of this. I also found Pimax's space warp to be awful, even at 120hz, so meta could make things easier for people in terms of gpus with the Q3 if space warp is as good as it was on the Quest 2 at 120hz 👍
@@davidvincent380 I found with the Quest 2 that the artifacts and ghosting was incredibly hard to see, and you had to really look to see the very slight bit that there was. So if the Quest 3 is the same, then there will be very minimal/none with ASW at 120hz 🤞
So where i stand in all of this is here, As many features as the Quest Pro has it still costs too much and its using an outdated XR2 and its strap isnt customizable and from everything ive heard and seen its passthrough is horrible so its a hard sell for me even though I really really do want face and eye tracking for VRChat id rather pay less especially for a device that has better tech then the Quest pro for half the price and while sure it dosnt have Face and Eye tracking or self tracked Controllers im confident that the Quest 4 will but i cant wait that long as im using a Quest 3 that ive had since its launch and it needs to be replaced and im not exactly made of money so with everything that the Quest 3 offers its more then enough for me atleast until the Quest 4 comes out, That and possibly the Next pro headset but we shall see. As for the pico's id like it if i could just pick one up at a Bestbuy or something but i cant so i gotta stick with the Quest Headsets atleast for now.
i have the quest pro. Dont know should i switch to quest 3. I like the premiumness of the pro but very curious about the resolution increase on quest 3. Mainly I watch you tube videos and casually playing something.

@@zackmac5917 with the Neo 3 Links facial interface it has a similar FOV to the Quest 2. However some people modify an AMVR facial interface for the PICO 4 to fit it onto the Neo 3 Link, or they get a 3d printed one, and this increases the FOV 👍
No preordering. Once the objective hands on reviews are here, and the Quest 3 is available locally, barring any fatal flaws I'll be upgrading from the Quest 2 (keeping both though for multiplayer). As much as I might criticise Meta, I'm not convinced ByteDance is a better option. Even though they might offer better hardware specs for the money, the lack of local availability, the more limited catalogue and the comparatively slow rate of development and feature upgrades doesn't fill me with confidence. Also my experience of the general state of support, bloatware, quality control, bugs/flaws, privacy etc with the larger Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi, Huawei or BBK Technologies, and counterparts such as Samsung and Google, hasn't left a great impression of the Chinese tech industry and their ability to compete on anything but price.
I think the Quest 3 will be a good upgrade to the Quest Pro due to having over 30% higher resolution. That was the biggest problem i had with the Quest Pro but that's now been fixed in the Quest 3.
