when i was in 8th grade a put together a whole slideshow to convince my mom to buy me a vive it was over 15 pages with the chores id do to pay for it and comparisons to other brands as well as games that i could only play in vr . That Christmas she got me one of the headsets you put your phone inside despite being a little bummed about it me and my younger siblings still had a lot of fun with it. we pinned blankets to the ceiling to make walls for a mini maze in my room and put horror youtube vr videos on while we tried to make our way to the other side of the room while everyone else was trying to whisper, poke ,and spook the person with the headset on. there is no point to this story other than sharing a core memory to this day thats the only vr experience ive had im now grateful i got to share that with my sisters
I love this story so much, and the fact that you bargained with mom for a VR headset like that! 15 pages - you should publish that somewhere! I think VR fans like me would love to read it - see what an 8th grader who really wants VR will do! And the way you worked real-world into VR experiences even with that "phone" VR - that's awesome! THE VOID would have been proud! Keep VR-ing, and hope to run into you in VR someday!
Nice story, too bad I was already a grown up old fart when it came out ( nope Nintendo Virtual Boy does not count) so I had to wait until 2019 for the PSVR then quest 2 last year. Not regretting getting the quest 2.
Don't waite for the Quest 3s, its gonna have worse lenses & other downgrades. You can get a Used Quest 3 (thats what I did) I was gonna waite for Quest 4 to upgrade from the quest 2 but the clarity & the price i got the qust 3 for I couldn't wait. Its a worthy upgrade, then the Quest 3s is gonna yank away most of the gains from the Quest 3 putting it closer to a just more powerful Quest 2.
Such a fantastic upgrade in nearly every way from the Quest 2, which was already great. Quest 3s won't be as good, but will be cheaper. I agree with you!
A friend borrowed me his Quest 2, even with a better headstrap i got headache after a while, but it showed me what i loved about VR when i got my first headset, the Vive in 2016. After i tried his new Quest 3 i decided against buying his old Quest 2. The main reason is the mixed reality quality, even if some people had different expectations, it gives me the feeling of being not too disconnected and since i still have problems with motion sickness in games with artificial movements / without teleportation etc. mixed reality is giving me access to more options of games i can play for longer comfortably. Games like Track Craft, Miracle Pool Synth Riders in MR is the stuff i don't want to miss. Together with the improved performance, resolution and pan cake lenses, i have the feeling the Quest 3 surpassed a threshold from a device i want to use only occasionally to a device i am use more regularly. MR is my personal game changer.
Such a great point about the power (and potential power) of mixed reality for helping with feeling at all sick when playing VR. I do believe that most people can overcome that uncomfortable feeling in VR if they do some things right, and play with it for a little bit each day for a few days, but MR really helps by anchoring you in space, and having the only movement be YOU moving in actual space. That helps more than anything. Great comment - thanks!
As a Quest 3 owner I say you’re missing out if you don’t have one. I’m an OG who has been playing video games since they came out in the 70’s and have been a console guy since I got pong for Xmas. The Q3 is what I hoped for, gone are the thousands of hours playing, in VR an hour well more than enough to satisfy my endorphin rush and make me need a nice nap.
I'm so there with you! I remember my first computer games in the late 70s, and wow - look how far we've come! Thanks for sharing that, and I, too, love VR so much - just pulls me in in a way I've never experienced in my "over 50 years" on this planet!
When I got my Q3 last December, I had sold the 2 to a friend and when he came to pick it up he asked if he could try the new one, but I promptly denied because, if he had used the Q3 then he could have given up buying my old one and rather save a bit more for the upgrade. And I think that the only reason why someone could wait for the Q3S is if they were planning to get the 2 but don't mind waiting for a similar device with updated internals... Like you said, the lenses, the sweet spot is what makes the upgrade worthy for anyone willing to use it more often. I'm moving to a new house and with almost everything boxed I can't play my Quest 3 right now, anyway... I'm first in line to check your new setup arriving soon, cheers.
Geez guys, that part was just a figure of speech, my friend stayed over for a whole weekend and tried the Q3 for hours. That was how I convinced him in the first place...
@@jollyjulianHave you ever tried the Woojer Vest with the Quest? If not I would strongly suggest you get one because the haptic feedback from it while playing the games takes the fun to a whole new level😊
@@animenightcores1502 Quest 3 offers far superior value with all the complex capability of all the modern techs built inside that is never possible in a flatscreen devices. Plus it came with built in decent screens, speakers, microphone, trackings, and will have better exclusives. There is no cheaper parts as Meta sold it at a loss
Hope not bc series S is trash. Lack of internal storage made that thing a terrible buy. It would be like if quest 3 S would only come with 64gb of storage.
First headset was the Oculus Rift in 2016. Bought my Quest 2 in 2020. Now it’s September 2024 and I JUST bought a Quest 3. The difference in clarity is night and day. It’s also a lot more comfortable and more breathable (the lenses used to ALWAYS fog up my 2, but not on the 3!)
@@4.0.7.7 I can live with old fresnel lenses but 3 positions ipd adjustment is simply a scam for people who waited. 3 positions ipd is one of the worse part of Quest 2 and it should be the last time thet included it
Hi Julian. New to your channel. I've been using my Guest 2 almost everyday. I really enjoy it, but two of my most used apps (Real VR Fishing / Brink's Traveler) leave me wanting more clarity/sharpness of the landscape imagery. As an example.. When I see recorded video of these apps on UA-cam (via my 2K PC Monitor) the landscape looks crystal clear, but when I'm using the Headset it isn't that clear. Have you used either of these apps and if so, does the landscape look significantly better when using the Quest 3 headset?
Great question, and first of all, love that you're in your Quest 2 almost every day! That's great! As for those two experiences specifically, I have not used either of those, however, here are a couple of things that could be affecting that. One thing is, often the "recording" of things can look sharper than what we see in the headset. I'm not sure why that is, but it is a thing. Secondly, make sure that your IPD adjustment (how close the lenses are to each other in the headset) is set to the best of the 3 settings for you. Move them together or apart to find the best "clear spot" for your eyes. Also, make sure the headset is positioned on your face perfectly when you put it on. Move it up and down and left and right, and make sure everything is the clearest possible, then tighten your headstrap to keep it in the spot to play. You may already do those things, but those are the best things to try. Also, do you wear glasses at all? If so, getting some LENS INSERTS with your prescription for the Quest 2 will make a HUGE difference. Hope those things help! Thanks for the comment, and keep VR-ing!
I do believe, for the money, the Quest 3 is the best buy out there. If you're unsure whether you'll like VR, and want to spend about $200 less, and can wait a month or two more, potentially, the Quest 3s, might be good for you. But the visuals from the Quest 3 are going to be better. Hope that helps!
@@jollyjulian Thanks for responding buddy, hard to get answers on YT, these days, so I'm not worried about saving money, I was gonna ask if it's worth the extra 150 bucks to get the 512k version, because what you get is a done deal correct? And I'm into table tennis, golf and pool, will this be fun for those games?
Definitely Upgrade! Today I Decided To Turn My Q3 On After Maybe 1 Week Long Break.. There Was A Update And That Always Is A wonderful Greeting But Wait Back To The Q3/Q3s. I Believe If You're Upgrading From The Q2 To The Q3s It's Spiffy Move But If The Option For The Q3 Is Available For Purchase? Get It ✨ You Won't Be Disappointed.
Great question, and I have NOT tried the PSVR2, so I can't say... In a perfect world, we'd have both, but that would be an expensive headset. I, for one, feel the pancake lenses are better overall, as they make EVERYTHING so much sharper and clearer, and increase the sweet-spot. Thoughts, all?
Question 3 I have both… here is why. Those PSVR2 lenses suck!!! And it’s tethered to your system the only benefit I see from that is battery life is non existent. On quest 3 you can play Xbox game pass so you can play Xbox games on a giant virtual screen.
What I think is that the Quest 3S will be that middle line between a bit more on the enthusiast side with the Quest 3 and the low entry price of the Quest 2 for people who are just trying it out and seeing if they like it. If they do like Vr, I think the Quest 3S will still entertain them and have good enough specs for them to play with some more higher-demanding games and with higher quality when compared to the Quest 2, which at this point the specs and capabilities of are much lesser relative to the new headsets rolling out. All in all, I think the 3S might have kinda bad numbers due to it being pretty close to the release of the Quest 3 and being a lower quality headset when it comes to specs, but that’s just me.
I agree with most of what you said here for sure. I also believe that's where they are positions in the Quest 3s. I would love to see the Quest 3 outsell the 3s overall, but I suspect, the cheaper price, and it feeling like a newer headset than the Quest 3 (which it is, it's just not better) will probably make Quest 3s the bigger seller in the long run. We shall see!
Should I get a valve index or quest 3 for pcvr? I currently have a Ryzen 5 6 core processor, with 32 GBs of RAM, and a RX 6700 XT gpu. Been looking into VR, as I used to have a Quest 2 but had to get rid of it due to it not really working with my glasses... Any info would help on trying to figure out what to get! Edit: I am not really knowledgeable when it comes to making a virtual PC using my setup on quest 3
A fantastic question, and from my point of view, having used both headsets, it would definitely be a Quest 3. Better optics, resolution, the option to go without a cable (if you choose), much better lenses - it really is the better options. As much as I loved my Index (and I really used it a lot), the Quest 3 really looks better now. And it's cheaper, and it has very good inside-out tracking. About the only things I feel are better on the Index are, slightly better tracking due to lighthouse tracking (external tracking), slightly better VERTICLE field of view, better sound (that really does rock), and less compression due to the cable. But even with all that, I still use the Quest 3 every day, and haven't touched my Index in nearly a year. Hope that helps! And learning how to connect and such isn't too hard. Lots of great vids out there to help with all that. You should be good to go!
@@jollyjulian Amazing. Thanks for the heads up! But just to be sure before I do end up getting a quest 3, is it glasses compatible? Or do I have to buy prescription lenses for it?
You absolutely can, both in the Quest natively, or using steamvr or virtual desktop, or even air link (I believe). And with STEAMVR, you can even pin the browser window to one of your controllers so you can see it while playing the game, without having to hit a button to bring it up. There are cool options. And, with v69 of Quest software update, hopefully coming very soon, you should be able to keep that window open while you play as well.
I use my Quest 3 for Mixed Reality apps and games and I use my PSVR2 for VR games as the graphics are a next level to the Quest 3 but I tend to use my Quest 3 more as I use it for different things like producing music, Fitness and as a Mixed Reality Cinema with the UA-cam app and occasionally the bigscreen app
Ooooh - you opened pandora's box with that one! Well, obviously, if you ask me, YES! Get a quest 3, and VR is really incredible. That is NOT me being "fake" amazed, I can honestly say that VR has become a large part of my life nearly every day in some form. I'd say give it a shot. If you order from Amazon, you can return within 30 days (at least if you're a prime member). So, yes! Try it - I think you'll love it.
A great question, and here are a few: First, and foremost, a different headstrap, probably one with a swappable battery, so you can play for longer, and not worry about running out. Helps with comfort in a major way! I like the BOBOVR series so far, but hoping to try some others out going forward as well. Always looking for great headstrap options. 2nd, lens inserts if you wear glasses. A MUST for a great experience, so you don't have to mess with a good fit while wearing your glasses. Lastly, a wifi 5 or higher (preferrably wifi6e) router for playing PCVR wirelessly, if you're able to do that. Okay, that's it for now. Other than that, the only others I have a peripherals like a gunstock, streering wheel with pedals, and a HOTAS flight stick for flight sims. Hope that helps!
Coming from a valve index, I just got my quest 3 and set it up with a dedicated 6e router. I'm blown away with how good wireless is while also looking so damn good.
Totally agree - for anyone looking for the best at a decent price, the Quest 3 is the way to go. If you MUST gave a couple hundred bucks, the Quest 3s will be good as well, but the visual quality will be sub-par by comparison. Thanks for the comment!
Sadly, no. The lens size and shape is completely different. I had to order a new set for my Quest 3, but worth it.... wish there was a way to adapt the Quest 2 ones for the Quest 3 though!
If you want to try if a quest vr is something for you. Buy the quest 2. For its price you can try everything, quest native software and pcvr. If you like what you get you can get the quest 3 without regret. Maybe wait until it settles for pricing or get a second hand.
I would prefer saving your money to get a quest 3 because quest 3 S is a downgraded over quest 3. I even want an upgraded quest 3 now we get a down grade? Nope sorry not for me.
Oh, I would 100% recommend that! I had the Rift S as well, and it was a very good headset, but I believe the visuals will be a night-and-day difference for you with the Quest 3. I say go for it! Hope that helps!
I am looking forward to the Quest 4 as I am hoping it will be as much of an upgrade as the Quest 3 was to the Quest 2, I am expecting Oled, eye tracking and slightly higher resolution as well as at least a 25 to 50% performance increase and at least a 50% larger battery system as these days four hours is the minimum a Headset or Battery unit should last. I bought my Quest 3 last October as soon as it was available to buy as it was finally worth buying a VR headset, I had tried every VR Headset to date and even bought the VFX1 back in the mid 90's. It took a while to finally get to a point where there was so close to no flyscreening and watching a Movie using the Headset was worthwhile. The next upgrade should remove the very small amount of pixelation that is still barely visible and being able to clip on prescription lenses makes all the difference for us glasses wearing people :). We are finally at the stage where VR is worth buying and everyone that has tried my Headset has gone onto buy a Q3 for themselves, I also bought a Q3 for each of my Grand children as it's cheap enough to buy as a Birthday or Xmas present, unlike another Brand that likes to rip people off, that I won't mention ;) damn fruit vendors ;)
Boy, do I hope you're right. I hope that the Quest 4, whenever we do get one, will incorporate the things you've listed here, while keeping with the pancake lenses and color passthrough. I am glad to see VR keep moving forward, and the Quest line has helped with all of that for sure. I do believe we will see a resurgence in PCVR over the next 5 years or so as well, but the Quest 3 is great for that too! I use it every day, and have never regretted the purchase. Thanks for the great comment!
I'm primarily interested in viewing my 360/VR photos and videos. However, the Quest 3 has been problematic with me, and apparently many others, when it comes to transferring files from a PC to the headset storage. This should be as simple as plugging a USB-C cord into the headset to the PC, but no....Meta seems to feel that you should have to hop multiple hurdles and only use their Link software. I haven't been successful in transferring files, despite hours troubleshooting the problem. So...great for gaming, but lousy for viewing independent 360 content.
Oh, I'm there with you! I've had so much trouble with it that I now use SIDEQUEST to do all my downloading and uploading to and from both my Quest 2 and Quest 3! Works GREAT! And it's free. I'd recommend checking it out.
Oh yes - OLED screens would make the Quest 3 just about perfect, other than them having to raise the price a decent amount to offset that additional cost. I can only imagine how great OLED with PANCAKE lenses would look! Enjoy that new Quest 3 - I think you're going to be very pleased!
Sadly, I have not owned a playstation since the 3! so I have not ever tried the PSVR1 or PSVR2. What I've heard is, it is pretty great from a haptics and OLED aspect. I know some are not so happy with the lack of unique titles on the Playstation store, but all-in-all, a good headset when used with the Playstation to get those controller haptics.
Upbeat! I bought HP Reverb G2, bought it march 2021, Three headsets, n 3 sets of controllers later I have black screen, no sound, I calculate 46 days @ 6hrs over 3+yrs
Ugggg - sucks you had to go through that many headsets. Sorry to hear that! Heard mixed things, but overall that the Reverb G2 was a good-looking headset visually, but that's no good.... hopefully the next headset, something different, will be better for you overall. Keep VR-ing!
What are the chances there is at least 1 or 2 features of the Q3S that is some kind of improvement on something on the current Q3?...i get it's supposed to be cheaper. But there hasnt been a single sequential Quest yet from 1-2-Pro-3 that hasn't had some kind of improvement from the previous even if it was cheaper. ...i hope not bc i dont want to feel obligated to buy it bc something like passthrough is improved with slightly better cameras or something
There's always the chance, but I feel like it's pretty slight. However, if there's anything that could be an improvement, maybe it would be in the passthrough area? Different cameras / software that increase the resolution of it a bit or something. Possible, but I doubt it. I think we're good to go with the Quest 3 for a little while.
The talk of the Quest Pro 2 keeps going back-and-forth. For me, I wouldn't wait for one, if you're thinking of not getting a Quest 3. But that's me. My biggest questions will be what the cost will be, and will it be worth however much extra it is over Quest 3 for what we're getting. However, if it is a really great headset (the Quest Pro was not great for the money, from all of seen and read), then I would totally want one! Great question - let's see what Meta comes out with as far as info soon....
Thank you so much, and congrats on your purchase of a Quest 3 coming up! Well, hopefully that's the decision that this video helped you toward.... LOL! Great to have you in the VR world, and I look forward to bringing you more VR videos going forward. Thanks for the sub, and I'll be coming to you with more soon!
If I had to make a choice right now, I'd argue for waiting for the newer Quest 3 "S" or whatever it is. It'll be cheaper and likely lack the MR stuff. And as far as the MR stuff goes - it's nice to have but hardly as of yet a needed feature in Quest. So if you can save a couple hundred by leaving it out, go for it.
Totally understand saving every dollar possible. That is a smart thing, and I can't argue with that. And I'm sure the Quest 3s will be a very strong headset for the money as well. For me, if anyone can rationalize the extra money, the Quest 3 is still what I would recommend, but get where you're coming from. Thanks for sharing that!
@@jollyjulian for me… I love the MR. I use it a lot when I do workouts. It’s cool in litesports. That said… when playing games I prefer full VR. Mainly because looking at my house and being reminded of the mortgage is terrifying enough - no need to layer zombies onto it.
The Q3s will have the cheaper fresnel lens instead of pancake lenses, otherwise all the other specs are the same as Q3. Get the Q3s over Q2, but not over Q3 if you can afford it.
Quest 3 is the best headset out there period. PCVR headsets aren't even an option for most people, and if someone wanna try PCVR they can try it with a Q3 and then invest such an amount for premium priced PCVR device.
I really agree - for the price, and all that it can do, there's nothing out there like it. Between standalone, PCVR (wireless or wired), a great game library, fantastic updates and continued support: Quest 3 is it. And at a price that no one else can match.
A great question for sure! It all comes down to how much you feel you may use VR on a semi-regular basis. If you feel you'll probably use it at least once a week or more, I recommend the quality bump of the Quest 3 - worth the money, in my opinion. Otherwise, at this point, I would probably wait till the Quest 3s comes out for a little less, but the quality of the visuals will not be quite as good. Hope that helps! Thanks for the comment!
@@jollyjulianthank you for your answer!! But, honest question: how do I know how much I'm gonna use it, if I really haven't had an experience??? 😊 It's like, I feel I want to try it, but, I'm not even sure what to do with it, if that makes sense... 😕 I feel like I want to get one, I just don't know how much I'm gonna like it/need it... See? I meant every word. I'm kind of inclined to get the Meta 3, 512 Gb, because I can get it to pay in parts.
I wish I could try one, but not able to get one here in the U.S., unless I go through a huge customs thing and try to find someone somewhere else to get one for me and ship it.... uggggg
@@jollyjulian, I got Pico 4 new through eBay from a seller in Japan (do NOT buy the Chinese version if you live in the US, and possibly Canada; the Chinese version has several restrictions that make it very hard to use without substantial tinkering, courtesy of the Chinese government). Took the seller several days to send it, as they warned, but once they did send it, it got to me in California shockingly fast. Got to say, my Pico 4, of the headsets I have, is my favorite to use. Once I found the fit for the facial interface, and bought AMVR's somewhat overpriced "halo" headstrap attachment, I found it extremely comfortable to wear for a longer time, and it's great for games that include a lot of movement, like exercise games and apps. The Pico is much better balanced than the Quest 3--which I have and quite like, by the way--and it has substantially better binocular overlap, so you see more of whatever you're looking at through both lenses at once. Really, my only, and biggest, problem with is that the library, though growing, just isn't big enough, and--of course, there are exclusives on the Meta headsets that Pico is very unlikely to ever get. Some people complain that it's not as bright as the Quest 3, nor are the colors as bright, but honestly, I haven't had a problem with that. If you're using it largely for PCVR, though, I think you simply can't beat the Pico 4... but that's my experience. I'm waiting with baited breath for the Pico 4S to come out, as, according to The Mysticle, it's been certified in South Korea.
@@jollyjulian i just got a used one on ebay for a good price, but decided ultimately on the quest 3 for software reasons (hand tracking). it's a good upgrade option if you want pancake lenses and the battery in the back makes it comfortable and balanced
Honestly if your just jumping into PCVR Wireless get a used Quest 2 150$ +40$ of the elite strap with battery to dip your toes in. I did this and was blown away.
This video came out just in time. looking to upgrade from Index to.... Quest 3, keeping index controllers/FBT. just want something wireless and not 5 years old. Valve doesnt seem too interested in competing in a competitive market and has not said anything about a new index 2.0. if there was any light at the end of that tunnel i would just wait for the index 2 and see what it offers because we all know its going to set the bar high again.
Completely there with you - if Valve had anything concrete on the horizon, I would maybe wait to see what they are doing, but I just don't see anything coming from them soon. We could be wrong, but even then, I'm not sure it will compete with the Quest 3 on cost vs. benefits. hard one to beat right now. Glad the video is helping you make a decision going forward! Happy VR-ing!
@@jollyjulian i agree with the cost/benefits and keeping the win on meta's side for that. Index will more than likely just do the same things but do them better, while inventing new benefits that you cant get anywhere else, like with what Index brought. a conversation could be had about what launch title valve would use. they had Alex before, i wouldn't mind seeing a Left4Dead type game designed for VR brought back and done well. but back to the point, while i do think Valve will blow the lid off of VR again, i just dont think it will change the market much from the status quo.
in the uk,,, PICO 4 All-in-One VR Headset 128GB is sold for £339,, it too has pancake lenses . maybe the 3s will be a 3,,,, just using better or mk2 manufacturing techniques allowing it to be made cheaper if i was making the 3s, i would also want to get rid of the controllers,, as they limit what you can do
Anything is possible! It does seem that it's going to go back to the Q2 fresnel lenses, sadly, but we can certainly hope! Also, for me, I would miss the controllers. Really need them for the majority of the things I play in VR...
Yeah, with Meta going "all in" (for now, anyway) in standalone VR, I don't suspect they will do that anytime soon, and since they are subsidizing the Quest headset and losing money on each headset sold, they want people only in their ecosystem at the moment. But that would be a great thing, and someday, I think we will have that. Would obviously have to be cabled, but that would be something.
Nice! I have the VITURE PRO, and really dig it - would love to compare them with the Xreal pro 2 sometime, but.... you know... money. LOL! Love that you watched from within AR!
With HDR on PS5. Not playing RE4 or Villiage on Quest without a decent PC & a mod. Gran Turismo, Switchback, Synapse Ps5 only as well. Alien, Metro, Wanderer, Behemoth, Low-Fi, Zombie Army, all going to look better on Playstation them stand alone, same goes for games out like Crossfire, Hubris etc.
You know, I would be 100% on board with that, if the PSVR 2 had those great lenses. But, by all accounts, a great headset. If they can get the full haptics of the PSVR 2 working in Steam, that will be a game changer!
The Quest 3s is a cut down, much like the Pixel 7a is a cut down Pixel 7. Heck even the Pixel 6 is fractionally better. So yeah Meta decided to do what phone makers do. The Quest 3s cuts out the Mixed Reality and gives you the Farnell lenses of the Quest 2, and not the Pancake lenses of the Quest 3. So the answer is - JUST GET A QUEST 3!!
Amen, my friend! Not sure - has it been confirmed that they are cutting out the mixed reality? I assumed they would keep that, as they are really trying to move the needle forward in that area.... we shall see!
I love the quest 3 it's awesome but I want to upgrade to the Pimax crystal Light because I only use the Quest 3 for DCS...I may consider selling the quest 3 if anyone is interested...
I'd love to hear how you feel the Crystal compares overall. I had a "not great" experience with previous Pimax headset, so I tend to stay away from them, but hope they can make things work, as they are really one of only a few still going over higher-end PC VR for consumers.
I have the Quest 1, 2 and now 3 (no I didn't sell the old ones) and I have a Pico4. Quest2 was great, is still not bad, but compared to the 2, the Quest3 is awesome: better visuals, better sound (funny that nearly nobody talks about that), wider FOV, sharp all over... pass through is much, much better and of course it has a faster chip... The Quest2 is good for people with a small budget and like to try the 2, but if you can afford it... Quest3 it is.
I read it in forums mb you have a solution and i have that problem either. At first thx for your answer , i rent a shadow pc for this month and i use for connection virtual desktop and it shows me that booth devices are not in the same network. I played half life alyx and the only problem is all 5-10 min the q3 disconnected for 2 secs out of the game. First i thougt its because of the network but there are many cases with local pcs either .
The VFX1 back in the mid 90's was $2000AU so a $799 128GB version today is cheap as chips and not even comparable in price, same as a Vic 20 back in the early 80's was $699AU so a Console today for around the same price is also dirt cheap as money doesn't get worth more over time ;)
Totally understand that impulse.... I was really hoping VALVE would have a successor to the INDEX by now, but I'm sick of waiting... LOL.... however, if they did come out with one, and it was amazing, I'd get it for sure (and sell other stuff if needed)! For now, BY FAR, Quest 3 feels like the best value of any headset out there for what you get. And Palmer Lucky - always interested in what he does. Don't think we will be getting a real consumer VR headset from him as soon as some think, but we shall see!
@@jollyjulian Palmer was showing a prototype on stage recently and with it being mil-spec I'm guessing it will be rugged enough to survive constant outdoor usage. I'm leaning more toward Valve's next unit because it is more likely to help propel Linux as the primary gaming OS to help more people escape the M$ spyware OS.
I returned my Q3 and went back to my CV1 and Vive, and yes the Q3 has great lens and screen res, but all that is ruined by the awful ancient tech that is lcd, which brings with it that grey haze over everything, grey black levels and washed out colours and missing colours hues, unlike the cv1 and vive which have oled, and once oled is seen it cannot be unseen, oled is quite literally night and day, oled and hmd are way more important to immersion than screen res.........so until i can get a Q3 with oled, then i am happy with my old oled vr hmds.
I hear you, and as with so much about VR, it does come down to what each individual values most. I also had a Vive PRO (was my first headset), and when I went to the Index from that, I really did notice the difference in contrast and "true blacks" from not having the OLED screens that were in the Vive Pro. However, for me, I will almost always take better clarity, no "god-rays," better resolutions, and better FOV over the better contrast. It's such a balancing act. I mean, how awesome is it going to be when we get a headset that has ALL OF THAT, and doesn't cost a fortune? Will we ever get there? Hard to say - it's expensive to make a headset, for sure, and the more great things added all add to the cost to produce. Great comment - really appreciate it!
@@jollyjulian I was there for the Oculus 1 and 2, great days waiting for the CV1 to go public, and just imagine if Oculus had managed to get out a CV2 off the drawing drawing board and out the door before FB bought them out, the CV2 with oled, outside tracking, asym lenses, and those great oculus vr controllers, and kept the CV1 headset, which in my view is still the most comfortable headset to day,.......we could have been in vr hmd nirvana by now. Ha

Thanks for the info, I am glad you said go q3 as mine are due to arrive today, I have been using gear vr for about 9 years but it died last week so I thought it was time to upgrade.
Oh, are you in for an AMAZING treat! Exciting that you'll have that headset soon - so happy for you! If you want any suggestions for experiences in the Quest 3, check out some of my other videos, where I talk about the best experiences (IMHO) based on whatever game / experience type you like. Happy VR-ing!
The Quest 3s is purely for people who haven't took the dive with the Quest 2 and decide to when the 3s releases, personally if you already played and or owned a Quest 2 or you have the financial means to afford a Quest 3 you would be better off getting it instead
I actually want PSVR 2, I have PSVR 1 & a PS5 but im certain Sony will either release a new bundle or maybe even a new version of the headset, and maybe, just maybe the slim model with pancake lenses, as they already made one for work but not for gaming. Going to see what transpires through til February when the headset has been on the market for 2 full years, but I kinda want one now, as lots of great games are coming like Wanderer, Alien, Metro, Behemoth & more. Quest 3? Yea I don't have a PC & I'm not going backwards to PS3 graphics. Maybe Quest 4 might hold my intrest.
Completely understandable on all counts, especially with you being in the PSVR ecosystem already. That would be great if Sony would release a PSVR2 v2 with pancake lenses, but I feel like they are kind of abandoning the PSVR at the moment. Hoping I'm wrong. Really want them in the game!
@@jollyjulian I think Sony is making cuts to keep the business afloat, not abandoning. Abandonment would be not investing in a PC adapter, or investing in 2 new 1st Party exclusives, or 2nd Party exclusives like Aces of Thunder & likely, Resident Evil 9, & more. It's barely year 2, & Sony dropped 7 1st & 2nd Party exclusives in 2023, so the narrative is off IMO.
I just got my Pimax Crystal Light headset the other day and Wow, it makes my Quest 3 look bad. I already have all the Base stations and Controllers so I went with the light house face plate version with local dimming version. I can gladly say this headset is a legit upgrade. Best visuals I have ever seen in a VR headset. 😉👌
@@blanka4545 Yes, it is a Legit PCVR headset that requires to be plugged into a GPU via DisplayPort. So Yes, it isn’t wireless and as for looks. Yes, the looks are deceiving because this headset is actually more comfortable than my Quest 3 and My Quest Pro. Yes, it is weird! I know! The Quest 3 is a wonderful standalone headset with great mixed reality experiences. And the bonus of being able to plug into a PC via USB cable or wirelessly with several different options. I ❤️ my Quest 3. It is the Best bang for your buck, I believe everyone should own one of these. I have the 512GB version. But, the Pimax Crystal Light offers the Best visuals I have ever seen. I been playing Ghost of Tsushima and Cyberpunk 2077 in VR with it and Wow, it is Magnificent! 😉👌
@blanka4545 Yes, it is a legit PCVR headset that has to be plugged into the GPU (RTX4090) via Displayport. It's not a cheap cellphone on your face. Quest 3 is a wonderful way to get into VR if you're on a budget. Pimax Crystal Light is a high-end HMD for people looking to upgrade. Nothing out there offers these kinds of visuals at a much more affordable price. As for looks, you can't judge a book by its cover. Looks are deceiving. It is actually more comfortable than both my Quest Pro and My Quest 3. I know it is weird that something looking so big can feel so good. My Quest 3 has overheated on me many times while playing. I bought the 512GB Version on my birthday of last year. Hopefully, it will not break on me. But, so far, I have been able to turn off and let it cool down, and it will work again. 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️❤️🕹🎮🎬🎞🎥🚽😉👌
That is awesome to hear! I've really been wondering about that PIMAX CRYSTAL, but just couldn't bring myself to get one, based on the bad customer service and such from Pimax. They promise a lot, and rarely deliver, but this one sounds like they may have HIT IT! Nice!
@jollyjulian Yes, they really got smart and stepped their game up. I wasn't planning on buying another headset, let alone a Pimax Crystal. Because, after watching reviews of it. It didn't impress me much. I was already happy with my Quest Pro and Quest 3 using as a PCVR headset. But, once I heard about the Redesigned Pimax Crystal Light. Offering everything I actually wanted, which was a legit PCVR upgrade. I decided to get it and give it a try. And boy, oh boy, I am glad I did. If you think the Quest 3 looks good. Just wait until you see this HMD. Right away, I noticed how clear everything was. I mean, it feels like I can read text miles away it is so Crystal clear. I wasn't expecting it to be this good. The detail you can see far away makes up for the FOV I lost in my Pimax5KSuper headset, and being able to not have to worry about charging a battery is wonderful. I don't play my VR games standing or moving around a lot. So the wire doesn't bother me. But, it is long enough to still move around. This HMD is made for people who already have a lot invested and want a visual upgrade. Yes, it looks much better than the Quest 3. But, the Quest 3 is still the Better Bang for your Buck. I have a powerful PC with a 4090, so I figured why not get the best visuals as well. I work hard for my money. Might as well enjoy it. Note: if you asked me if it was worth it. I would gladly say, Money Well Spent! 😉👌😁👍🙋🏻♂️🫶
I do need to try Blade & Sorcery! Been keeping my eye on that one, and it might be time! Oh, and I do play Contractors Showdown - so fun! I'm not very good at it, but love it!
Loved both of those headsets, and still have my Quest 2. I keep it mostly for fitness stuff and such. Great headset still, even as much as I love my Quest 3.
Is there a 4s coming from Pico? Do wish we could get those here in the states, but not sure how I feel about ByteDance overall as a company. I know, Meta may be questionable too.... LOL
Yeah, I would LOVE to try one, but still can't get it (easily) here in the states, so will have to wait. But I've heard it's quite a wonderful headset!
Ah, sorry to hear that! I'll keep that in mind for the next one. Been working really hard to get the balance right, and this level felt really good to me. Listened on a few different devices to be sure - appreciate the comment.
I got a basic understanding of Shakespeare from the film renaissance man (Danny DeVito) now it’s my favourite film - I actually learned something teachers could not teach me . Cast of thy nightly shadow . Basically… stop morning… am I right ?
I have both Quest 3 and Pico 4. Quest 3 is now collecting dust and Pico 4 is with me every day and travelling overseas. Pico 4 is reasonably cheaper. I had bought at S$330 and Quest 3 at S$720. I like using Pico 4 to watch VR videos as well.
I do wish I could easily get my hands on a PICO 4.... sadly, I cannot. What did you feel made it better overall from the Quest 3? Very curious and interested!
@@jollyjulianLots of things better than Quest 3. Quest 3 USB port sucks and need external software and cannot function as smoothly as Pico 4 in its USB. Pico 4 beside cheaper, so much lighter infront and can wear long hours, it has most function of Quest 3. If given a second chance to buy, I would advise new user to VR/MR reality to buy Pico 4 to experience this new reality with low budget. Whatever Andriod phone can do, Pico 4 can do as well but not necessary for Quest 3.
Apparently, Quest 4 wasn't needed for a price-cut. Quest 3 just got a significat price-cut. Contemplating on getting one, since I just own a second hand Oculus Rift CV1 and PSVR1. Plans for PS5Pro with PSVR2 went down the drain, with what they're asking.
@@jollyjulian yeah and still have a 1year warranty. I've had my quest 2 since launch but this year was declared disabled and had to sale it. If my finances ever recover I will buy a quest 3. Good stuff will definitely sub man
Depends on budget and that kind of performance they want decent performance for low price then sure but best performance up to date and not a budget then q3 yeah!
Love it - thanks much. Yeah, I really dig this VR stuff, and having been through all the ages of computer games, this has really sparked a LOVE I never knew was possible! thanks for the sub!
Never have I ever. What a trip everything in comments , watching this long sales video. Personally I want to live in BR so I’m trying to find best of vr
Hey there - appreciate the comment and the outlook - when someone is excited about something, I understand it can feel like a "sales video" LOL. However, just genuine appreciation for this headset that, to me, is a marvel of tech for the price they are offering it for. I'm very impressed. Keep the comments coming!
It is not about Quest 3 vs Quest 3s, they arent in the same class.... Quest 3s vs Quest 2 is what its all about and to that Quest 3s wins. Quest 3 has proper lenses not the crappy ones the Q3s will come out with... Quest 3s is not really an upgrade worth getting excited for. Valve been silent for years and Index is super old by now so if they said something about their future headset thats worth getting excited for. TLDR, buy QUEST 3 during black friday or whenever it drops in price, its the greatest in the pricerange.
Agreed for sure. The Quest 3s is really more of a Quest 2 super. better processor, probably color passthrough. I want something new from Valve so badly!
@@jollyjulian its just too expensive as of now and i don't really see a reason, the quest 2 seems like a better option for me and I am planning on buying it, the quest 3 costs around 5k in my country, and the quest 2 costs 1.8k-2k
I will admit, if and when the Deckard comes from Valve, I'm sure I'll be investing in that - providing it's as much a leap forward as the Index was when it came out! Come on VALVE - we want you!
Interesting! You have me very intrigued now to really try a PSVR2, however, I don't have (or really want) a Playstation, and I"m curious what it is that you liked so much more on the PSVR2 over the quest 3? Please share - I'm sure many of us would like to know. So glad you're loving the PSVR2 - that's awesome!
@jollyjulian easy, much better colour, that have lots of pop and vibrant. True blacks and adds much much more with horror games. HDR gives better lighting. Gane textures are more detailed, so games like RE look more soild. The graphics matchva high end pc and the difference is night and day. I found the colours lacking vibrance and muddy and very poor blacks
Honestly the quest 3 is that much of an upgrade from the quest2. Seriously they are selling the 2 for 200 and the 3 for 500. The the difference is minimal mainly because a lot of the new features of the quest 3 are still in development and very few games take advantage of the power difference in a meaningful way. If your a quest 2 owner looking for a big jump look for a used gaming laptop or pc that has a graphics card better than 2050 ti and start doing pc vr
I do get where you're coming from, but I do disagree, humbly. I found the upgrade from the Quest 2 to the Quest 3 to be a big jump, but I DO agree that PCVR is the best you can get. However, it is another level of commitment..... At the same time, not everyone has to have the TOP OF THE LINE PC to do some PCVR, just depends on the experience and such. More to come in other videos on that one. Thanks for the comment!
@@CalebEdwards-ut7ju you don’t need a top of the line pc. People act like it’s 2013 and vr is this expensive new thing. A 1050ti with a decent cpu paring can do vr better than a quest 3.
@@CalebEdwards-ut7ju Like honestly it’s worth the jump. The games are much cheaper. You’ve got a bigger selection with way more advanced vr games on offer. The quest as a pc headset is very good since it only needs the 1 cable coming from the quest to the pc or you can use it wirelessly if you have very good internet. Also you don’t need to have a room where base stations are setup etc.
when i was in 8th grade a put together a whole slideshow to convince my mom to buy me a vive it was over 15 pages with the chores id do to pay for it and comparisons to other brands as well as games that i could only play in vr .

Dictionary. Use it
How much did you get your q3 for? New?
I waited...ended up buying g the 3 and not 3s obviously. just had to be sure
Bobovr head strap is a must
Upgraded from Quest 2 to Quest 3. Play a lot of DCS. Absolute game changer. I can read all of gauges in my VR cockpit now.

Much wider FOV and clear lenses do the trick :)

It's so cool!
I've never had any headsets are used VR before, so do you think I will be excited when using the Quest 3?
Agreed, for sure. Quest 3s will be an upgrade for Quest 2, but the Quest 3 still rules the Quest line, at least for now! Come on Quest 4! LOL
whats better a psvr2 with oled or the qeust 3 with pancake lenses ive been wondering
Or do I have to buy prescription lenses for it?
can you use the multitasking during pcvr? like can i play MSFS and still pull up a meta browser window?
Media consumption and mixed reality are two GREAT uses for the Quest 3 for sure. Two of my favorite things as well. Great points!

Wireless PCVR opens up way more possibilities if you already have a decent gaming PC :)

@@jollyjulian deal. I just ordered it - thanks!
What accessories would you recommend for the Quest 3 to enhance the experience?
Love that! I had such a similar experience. We are lucky to be living in this VR time! Thanks for the comment!
Why would you the Quest S is a step down from the Quest 3 it sits between the 2 & 3 safer buying a 3.
Totally agree - for anyone looking for the best at a decent price, the Quest 3 is the way to go. If you MUST gave a couple hundred bucks, the Quest 3s will be good as well, but the visual quality will be sub-par by comparison. Thanks for the comment!
Can it use my prescription lens from my Quest 2 on a Quest 3?
Sadly, no. The lens size and shape is completely different. I had to order a new set for my Quest 3, but worth it.... wish there was a way to adapt the Quest 2 ones for the Quest 3 though!
I saw someone was offering 3D printed adapters for Quest 2 lens to Quest 3
If you want to try if a quest vr is something for you. Buy the quest 2. For its price you can try everything, quest native software and pcvr. If you like what you get you can get the quest 3 without regret. Maybe wait until it settles for pricing or get a second hand.
Can't disagree with that - well put. Agreed!
I would compare using the quest 2 after trying the quest 3 to moving from 1440p back to a 1080p display
A good analogy! Yes!
Have you tried Visor 4k because i'm locked on to that rightnow but meta has alot accessories to add in the future i am stuck on these two
I have not tried the Visor yet, but am keeping my eyes on that too! Can't wait for it to come out and see what people are saying about it!
I would prefer saving your money to get a quest 3 because quest 3 S is a downgraded over quest 3. I even want an upgraded quest 3 now we get a down grade? Nope sorry not for me.
100% agreed! Yes yes... and yes!
how about upgrading from a rift s to a quest 3? I have a 4070ti and a homemade vr rig so it will be used for pcvr
Oh, I would 100% recommend that! I had the Rift S as well, and it was a very good headset, but I believe the visuals will be a night-and-day difference for you with the Quest 3. I say go for it! Hope that helps!
If you want to do PCVR Wireless Q3 hands down. If wired or no desire for Wireless, Primax Crystal Light seems to be the way to go.
What's the meaning of "homemade vr rig" 😅?
Just ordered the Quest 3 coming from the Quest, was waiting for an OLED Quest but I saw some videos that made me want a Quest 3
Oh yes - OLED screens would make the Quest 3 just about perfect, other than them having to raise the price a decent amount to offset that additional cost. I can only imagine how great OLED with PANCAKE lenses would look! Enjoy that new Quest 3 - I think you're going to be very pleased!
Any opinions on the PSVR 2 ???
Just bought my first vr headset and it’s quest 3 and arrived yesterday and I’m using it for vrpc games racing sim and American truck sim
Fantastic - congrats, and welcome to VR! The sims (racing and flying) are among my favorite experiences in VR. I think you're going to love it!
What about the rumored Quest Pro 2? Sounds like its going to be OLED, which is a huge step above the LCD on Quest 3
I'm investigating a purchase of a quest 3. Your video just made up my mind for me. Thank you so much. You have a new subscriber.
Great Video, New subscriber here
If I had to make a choice right now, I'd argue for waiting for the newer Quest 3 "S" or whatever it is.
You summarized it very well.
Very true - agreed, 100%. Quest 3 is the way to go, if $500 is doable at all.
Thank you much!
Quest 3 for me, getting one soon to upgrade my 2, then save for the future model if there’s ever a 4
You bet - they just keep getting better and better!
Great video. The only thing I would recommend is turning down the background music some it’s too loud compared to your voice
Thanks for the heads-up on that one! I'll try to get that balance a bit better in the future!
The quest 3 retired my vive pro with wireless adapter. Steam link works too damn good for me
sweet Glassses bro :) i think you need more RGB Light IMO
LOL - can never have too much RGB, baby! Thanks much!
I've never seen a bigger "my fellow teenagers' in my life.
LOL - not sure what that means, but I'll take it! :)
Well this video is much better than the teens cranking out bad YT content. I'll take it!
What if it's my first Quest?
Have you tried the pico 4? im trying to figure out whats the best i can get for pcvr that wont drain my wallet and be as comfortable as possible
Index will more than likely just do the same things but do them better, while inventing new benefits that you cant get anywhere else, like with what Index brought. a conversation could be had about what launch title valve would use. they had Alex before, i wouldn't mind seeing a Left4Dead type game designed for VR brought back and done well. but back to the point, while i do think Valve will blow the lid off of VR again, i just dont think it will change the market much from the status quo.
in the uk,,, PICO 4 All-in-One VR Headset 128GB is sold for £339,, it too has pancake lenses
.
maybe the 3s will be a 3,,,, just using better or mk2 manufacturing techniques allowing it to be made cheaper
if i was making the 3s, i would also want to get rid of the controllers,, as they limit what you can do
Word is Q3s will have the case of the 2....so it's basically a Quest 2.5
Anything is possible! It does seem that it's going to go back to the Q2 fresnel lenses, sadly, but we can certainly hope! Also, for me, I would miss the controllers. Really need them for the majority of the things I play in VR...
Your excitement is next level.
Yeah, I do love this stuff, and thanks so much for the comment! Now, I'm tired, and need to get to bed. LOL!
The Q3S will be inferior to the Q3, pancake vs fresnell example, better to buy a refurbed 3 on Meta to save money or on eBay
100% agree - for me, the optics of Quest 3 are just stellar, especially for a $500 headset - love it!
What i want is a Quest only for PCVR, without the chip and battery ect, for a more affordable price.
Just liked the video whilst viewing on my Xreal pro 2 glasses. They are pretty cool.
Nice! I have the VITURE PRO, and really dig it - would love to compare them with the Xreal pro 2 sometime, but.... you know... money. LOL! Love that you watched from within AR!
The lenses made the 3 worth getting alone i dont think ill ever go back😂
Totally there with you! I was surprised how much of a difference they made for me too!
Get the PSVR 2 and the PC adaptor. One headset that works on two platforms with uncompressed video.
@@jollyjulian what games support eye tracking on Steam? Quest isn't HDR or eyebtracking either, but PSVR has those features on PS5 at least.
@@Alien_isolationist Yeah the thing is the PSVR2 doesn’t support those features on PC. No eye tracking, no HDR
Yes yes yes! Agreed for sure. And you definitely have a lot of experience with headsets as well to base that opinion on! Thanks for sharing!
I heard quest 3 has wifi problems that came with v63.
Interesting - I have not noticed that at all on my end. Have seemed to have perfect WIFI.... on v66 now, maybe it was a brief hiccup?
I read it in forums mb you have a solution and i have that problem either. At first thx for your answer , i rent a shadow pc for this month and i use for connection virtual desktop and it shows me that booth devices are not in the same network. I played half life alyx and the only problem is all 5-10 min the q3 disconnected for 2 secs out of the game. First i thougt its because of the network but there are many cases with local pcs either .
The VFX1 back in the mid 90's was $2000AU so a $799 128GB version today is cheap as chips and not even comparable in price, same as a Vic 20 back in the early 80's was $699AU so a Console today for around the same price is also dirt cheap as money doesn't get worth more over time ;)
Great points - agree with you there. Wonderful way to look at it!
I'm waiting for Lucky Palmer or Valve to drop the next Gen before I upgrade from the quest2.
Just got my quest 3 have rokid max for movies
I think you're going to love that new headset! Here's to some great VRing for ya!
this is the first video I found that doesn't recommend to wait for the quest lite good video
Thanks much - it's what I truly believe. The extra $200 to me is worth every penny, but I know many are watching every penny. Appreciate the comment!
what's his name again?
His.... who?
Ha
At least now you can use the PSVR2 on the PC. You don’t get eye tracking or HDR, but it does at least have OLED.
I still use the Quest 2 and love it...I also have a dedicated PCVR Headset in the Pimax Crystal
That's awesome - the Q2 is still a great headset, no question about that! How do you like the Pimax Crystal?
@@jollyjulian Crystal is awesome no Question about it!! I Got Crystal when it was still in the teething stage.. returned my first one ! However the next one was Great and a number of updates has made it a go to Headset..I'm up in the air about the Wide Fov lenses, will just wait and see...I also pre purchased the 60G wireless Dongle..I have a pretty good Rig..Rtx 4090 and I913900k
very interesting thank you
My pleasure - love this VR stuff, for sure!
@@jollyjulian Is Visage like HL Alyx, ready to VR direct from steam?
Couldn't agree more - for sure. Good point!
No wireless do clunky and weird lol

And blade and sorcery new update
I do need to try Blade & Sorcery! Been keeping my eye on that one, and it might be time! Oh, and I do play Contractors Showdown - so fun! I'm not very good at it, but love it!
I have a rift and quest 2
Loved both of those headsets, and still have my Quest 2. I keep it mostly for fitness stuff and such. Great headset still, even as much as I love my Quest 3.
We want a Quest 3+ not a Quest 3S...
AMEN! YES, please!
Spot on!
Isn't the quest 3 S just a downgrade of the quest 3 in several ways?
Yes, it is. For sure. A downgrade from quest 3, and a boost up from the quest 2.
Don't forget about the pico 4s comming soon
Is there a 4s coming from Pico? Do wish we could get those here in the states, but not sure how I feel about ByteDance overall as a company. I know, Meta may be questionable too.... LOL
You haven't tried Pico 4 then, it's better than Quest 3 in terms of hardware at least
Yeah, I would LOVE to try one, but still can't get it (easily) here in the states, so will have to wait. But I've heard it's quite a wonderful headset!
Background music is way too loud.
Ah, sorry to hear that! I'll keep that in mind for the next one. Been working really hard to get the balance right, and this level felt really good to me. Listened on a few different devices to be sure - appreciate the comment.
Bro your vids are great man
Thank you so much for that - very kind! I do plan to keep them coming, hope you'll enjoy others as well!
Actually Shakespeare was talking about pencils ✏️ 2B or not 2B that is the quill tip … sir
LOL! Okay, nicely played.... FYI, I got to play Hamlet in a production of that play in my town once.... do like me some Shakespeare!
@@jollyjulian I use to smoke hamlet cigars …
I got a basic understanding of Shakespeare from the film renaissance man (Danny DeVito) now it’s my favourite film - I actually learned something teachers could not teach me .
Cast of thy nightly shadow . Basically… stop morning… am I right ?
I have both Quest 3 and Pico 4. Quest 3 is now collecting dust and Pico 4 is with me every day and travelling overseas. Pico 4 is reasonably cheaper. I had bought at S$330 and Quest 3 at S$720. I like using Pico 4 to watch VR videos as well.
What makes the Pico better? Can it be standalone?
I do wish I could easily get my hands on a PICO 4.... sadly, I cannot. What did you feel made it better overall from the Quest 3? Very curious and interested!
@@MKxFoxtrotxlllIt has all the functions of Quest 3 except for the passthrough auto sensing of play boundary. It is a standalone.
Whatever Andriod phone can do, Pico 4 can do as well but not necessary for Quest 3.
i tihnk pancake lenses will stay but resalution will be lowered
I would prefer the better lenses for sure, but I'm predicting the lenses will be Fresnel again.... uggg... hope I'm wrong!
i am waiting for Quest 4 to make Quest 3 cheaper to make Quest 2 cheaper to buy google cardboard
LOL! Nicely played!
Fantastic video, thank you!
My pleasure - thanks for the comment!
Quest 3 just went on sale also. Makes it even more of a better choice
Are you talking the "refurbished" models for $50 off? That is not a bad deal!
@@jollyjulian yeah and still have a 1year warranty. I've had my quest 2 since launch but this year was declared disabled and had to sale it. If my finances ever recover I will buy a quest 3. Good stuff will definitely sub man
When how much?
Depends on budget and that kind of performance they want decent performance for low price then sure but best performance up to date and not a budget then q3 yeah!
I subbed & like, cuz u older an seem like u really into these. I barely know Quest stuff. Mainly a Playstation guy = PSVR1 & PSVR2
Love it - thanks much. Yeah, I really dig this VR stuff, and having been through all the ages of computer games, this has really sparked a LOVE I never knew was possible! thanks for the sub!
I have bought the quest 3
YES!!!! Welcome to "The Family!" Can't wait to hear what you think of it, and how you use it! Congrats!
I dig the background music 😎🤘
Well, thank you! A little funk for the video, I think, is a good thing! :)
I plan on getting a quest 3
I don't think you will be sorry at all with that!
ORRRR upgrade your PC to run q3 THEN upgrade to q3 and run off pc. Much better than standalone
PCVR does open up so many experiences. Quest stand-alone is impressive, but linked to a PC - will be hard for mobile to EVER beat that.
im litterally on my quest 3
Love that! Great for media consumption, including UA-cam!
@@jollyjulian v 67. went full vision pro mode
I want something new from Valve so badly!
me watching this knowing i probably wont be buying the quest 3 anyways:
LOL - totally get it. Not necessarily for everyone, but curious as to why you are thinking you won't get one? Thanks for the comment!
@@jollyjulian its just too expensive as of now and i don't really see a reason, the quest 2 seems like a better option for me and I am planning on buying it, the quest 3 costs around 5k in my country, and the quest 2 costs 1.8k-2k
@@rato_yes OOF
Yeah, maybe the Quest 3S would be a good fit for you then
@@TheMamaluigi300 it got even more expensive now, 3k
I aint waiting for meta, i'm waiting for the deckard
I will admit, if and when the Deckard comes from Valve, I'm sure I'll be investing in that - providing it's as much a leap forward as the Index was when it came out! Come on VALVE - we want you!
Not a patch on psvr2. Sold my quest 3 after trying psvr2, far better experience
Quest 3 is the GOAT right now. No S needed.
Totally agreed!
Quest 3 seems better than quest 2 when quest 4arrive quest 3seem like quest 2 this is magic when quest 12 arrive than.....
Yes - it definitely is following the path of most tech - each generation getting better than the first... I look forward to Quest 12!
If you haven't upgraded from a quest 2 already than just upgrade to q3 no need to wait if they don't have pancakes. I like pancakes. Pancakes
Pancakes are good. Damn it. Now I'm hungry.... YES AND YES!
youtube didn't made the like button rainbow :(
That makes me sad too.... :(
Honestly the quest 3 is that much of an upgrade from the quest2.
PcVr is an expensive waste of money unless you have like a 4090 and high end vr headset.
@@appropriate-channelname3049 really? damn bro I thought it was way more expensive. pcvr will always be better than standalone Q3
