    Replacing shock bushings is an easy task that helps prevent damage to your shock hardware and the shock itself. As well as changing the bushings, we can use offset bushings so adjust our bikes geometry, slackening the head angle and dropping the bottom bracket.

    Great video! So does this alter rear travel at all? You mentioned If you are pushing capabilities etc. I’m currently on a 120mm rear but could do with more, if this was to reduce I2i then I guess it would if you put a longer stroke shock on?

      They don't alter your rear travel as this is defined by your shock stroke. To get more travel, you'd need a shock with more stroke.

    Hey. Can i use an offset bushing in reverse to raise my BB height and steepen my head angle slightly?

    Should you replace both of the bushings or only the top one?

      The fullest effect is achieved with fitting both, only 1 will only slacken the frame by a small amount.

    I'm a motorcycle mechanic. My lower pin and bush are an interference fit which seems overtight to me. Am I wrong???

    What’s the tool called

    • @StravaigingMTB
      @StravaigingMTB  3 роки тому

      It's a bushing removal tool or a bushing press. I got my offset bushings from offsetbushings.com they do a wee tool that's simple and cheap but you'll find similar on ebay as well.

    In the end this idea doesnt work. You will have to put more pressure in the shock and lower the prrssure in the fork to use the full travel of it. So when riding the geomettry is basicallly the same.

    • @StravaigingMTB
      @StravaigingMTB  3 роки тому +1

      I'm not sure I follow, you are not shortening the stroke of the shock so you can run the same sag. You are essentially moving the frame a few mm into its travel without compressing the shock. Plenty of pro race teams use them to tweak the geo on production frames to suit the needs of pro riders so it is a proven concept.

      @@StravaigingMTB not exactly accurate. More weight will lean towards the rear, less weight on the front. Therefore if you do not change pressurres you will bottom the shock and underuse the forks travel. To compensate for that air prrssures will have to be changed and the end result is the same geometry

      Believe me, it is like i said. I tested this myself and makes sense. If you really wanna change geometries u either change body positioning by changing some parts or the whole bike. This offset bushings while creative dont do a thing to the bike

    • @StravaigingMTB
      @StravaigingMTB  3 роки тому

      I still not sure I agree on you there. Changing your body position (stem, bars or technique) doesn't change your head angle, merely your relation to it. Whilst I can see how if seated some of your thoughts might follow, if standing in a good posture then not sure they pan out. Either way if you have a solution that worked for you and your biek then great.
