  • Improve your mountain bike geometry using shock Offset bushings. Using Offset bushings will decrease bottom-bracket height and slacken the head angle. Learn here more about the effect offset bushings on bike geometry and how do they affect suspension kinematics. See also some tips and tricks to check for compatibility. Hope you like it! Cheers.

      Offset Bushings I ran your bushings on a 2017 YT Jeffsy 27.5 and it made it a much better bike! I have a 2019 now and wonder if I might do the same (stock 65.5 HTA)

      hobmarg Hi! We can produce a set with the same offset as before for the new version, just make a note of your frame and shock models when ordering from our site like normal. Hope that helps!

      Offset Bushings when the bushings are installed. How much will the head angle change? Like it is it only a 1 degree change ?

    • @offsetbushings5182
      @offsetbushings5182 4 роки тому

      @@EGuitarmane It depends on the bike, but the most common average adjustment with a pair is 1 degree. That's very noticeable, even riding around car park!

      depending on use / riding conditions / frame design it could be anywhere from months to years. DU bushes are wearable items much like tyres or brake pads.

    Offset bushings can not only be used to slacken the bike geometry. I used a pair of bushings in order to fit a larger shock into my frame (184mm -> 190mm). Doing so I increased my rear travel. @andrextr - this option might also be worth to be reviewed.
    Btw: I got my offset bushings from Proshox offered on ebay.

      Absolutely! That's a very common use for them :)

    • @andrextr
      @andrextr  4 роки тому +1

      Yes. In that case you keep relatively the same geometry but you increase suspension wheel travel. Switching from 216 to 222mm shock might also be possible with Offset bushings (assuming you have enough clearance at bottom-out to account for the increased shock stroke, of course).

    I’m looking to change my 2019 Norco Sight VLT (Ebike) a bit and I’m considering a -1 angleset or one offset bushing for the lower shock mount (because top is trunnion).
    Have you got a video that explains the pros and cons of each option by any chance? Alternately I’m thinking Maybe -1 angleset with a 150mm 29 fork instead of the 27.5 I have now.
    Cheers from Australia

    Olá André! Eu vou ter que trocar de quadro pois o que comprei tem problemas de acabamento e suporte do fabricante, que não quer nem me dizer o torque máximo dos parafusos da suspensão, e há um histórico nas avaliações destes parafusos estourando com pouco torque. Acontece que o shock no quadro antigo era 200x57, para o novo é 200x51. Sabe se o as buchas com offset me ajudariam tirando os 4mm que dá, e se eu realmente preciso? Eu vou rodar pneus 27,5 atrás, e o quadro é 29, pelo que tem aprendido contigo isso dá uma certa margem para o curso ser um pouco maior. Estou correto? Obrigado

    • @andrextr
      @andrextr  Рік тому +1

      Só experimentando. A nova bike com o shock de 57 fica com perto de mais 10% curso que a original. Pode o quadro bater no fim do curso (dependendo do tipo de quadro…). Estes bushings vão agravar o problema. Sim o pneu 27 pode evitar que o pneu bata no seat tube. Mas só testando. Pode reduzir o curso de 57 para 51 usando limitadores de curso no interior

    Good day. I have a Giant Faith 0 2010 with a rockshox vivid 5.1 coil shock. Can i use two offset bushings? The stock head angle with a 180mm fork is pretty steep at 66.75 degrees. I have done a few modifications to lower these including: using a longer dropout (445mm instead of 442mm which also enabled me to use 2.4 in 27.5 tires and -0.5° HA), using a 200mm bomber 888 rc3 evo fork (-1°), using a works angle headset (-2°). Head angle now is 63.25°. Can I use offset bushing to lower it further to 62°?

    In some frames design the offset bushing do almost nothing in changing the geometry like in the specialized enduro 29

    • @andrewdecker627

      Pepe Anza why is that? Because the leverage ratio starts low and stays linear?

      Biker dju I don't know the leverage ratio I go by how I feel the bike In my case i have a specialized enduro 29 2015 this was the first generation of enduro 29 and is a great bike but it has some issues that where fixed in the next years enduro models the issues are that the bike are not slack enough and the bottom bracket height is high, so because the design of how the shock is mounted you can only use one offset bushing so the geometry change is minimal I don't feel any change on how the bike rides

    • @offsetbushings5182

      Funnily enough, your Enduro is one of the most popular bikes to install an offset bushing in. Dirt magazine always recommend them for the Enduro too! On average you’re looking at around 0.5 degrees of adjustment and 5mm lower with a single bushing, which is certainly a very noticeable adjustment for any experienced rider!

    What happens if install offset bushings on a 2020 reign 29? Stock rear travel is only 146mm. Shock stroke is 205x60 stock. Unfortunately shock is trunnion mount and offset bushings can only be installed on the bottom.

    • @offsetbushings5182
      @offsetbushings5182 4 роки тому

      The 2020 Reign doesn't actually use any bushings at all. The lower mount is a 15mm diameter pin that runs through the seatstay - much the same as most of the new Giant bikes unfortunately!

    • @offsetbushings5182
      @offsetbushings5182 4 роки тому +1

      The Remedy can use a single offset bushing, so you're looking at a 2mm adjustment. That'll equate to around 0.5 degree of HA adjustment on average. Any effect on suspension characteristics will be minimal :)

    • @offsetbushings5182

      You cannot modify a trunnion mount at all. These shocks will still be using a standard lower bushing however, so you can at least offset one end!

    I purchased a full sus frame with a 190 i to i measure but I had mistakenly purchased a 184 rear shock, 6mm is the difference. Can I use offset bushing reversely to fill the gap? What's the best solution?

    • @andrextr
      @andrextr  4 роки тому

      Hi Chris. The offset bushings will further reduce the i to i distance so it won't solve the problem (it only aggravates). Even if you rotate the bushings pointing outwards they tend to rotate inwards with time. Did the stroke length is the correct in the 184mm shock? Because the 184 comes with 44mm stroke and with 190 shocks you can have either 40, 45 or 50mm stroke versions... if the stroke is not the correct for your frame you are reducing wheel travel and I advice you to get the correct shock, otherwise, despite the slacker geometry, I don't see any other problem of runing the 185mm shock. I also not aware of a solution to extend the i to i distance either. Cheers

    By offsetting the travel, doesn't this effect the IC? For bikes that rely on high anti-squat at sag for peddling characteristics, would offset bushings have a negative effect on peddling performance?

    • @andrextr
      @andrextr  4 роки тому +1

      Yes but it is a very small effect because the curves are the same, you are just skipping the travel a few milimiters. And in bikes well optimized for pedaling they get good and stable antisquats on the pedaling zone (first half of travel). Cheers
