Well, we did it! A 17 minute video for tiny little bushings. If you found this helpful, please like, comment and subscribe. And head over to thelostco, com for any parts you need while you're at it 😎
Where was this video last year when I struggled for about a week to find the right hardware for my 2021 Fuel EX with offset bushings. LOL. great video.
Really do enjoy your videos, thank you! One unforeseen issue I came across when upgrading my shock for the first time was aligning the eyelets, where the rear eyelet is 90degrees offset from the frame mounted eyelet. I managed to get it… eventually, but it required a reasonable amount of force to twist the stanchion + small tolerances on the mounting bolts meant it took a fair amount of effort to get right.
First time fiddling with rear shocks - and the mounting hardware seemed like a difficult topic. This video explained it so well, super thankful for it!
Thanks! this is the most complete and informative video about bushings. It really answered all my questions and i learned new stuff. Cant wait to see part 2 about coil shock. Cheers
These videos have been absolutely crucial in replacing my old air shock with a new coil. Thank you guys. Ordered my mounting hardware for you and will definitely recommend your channel to any of my riding buddies needing help!
Oh man, I wish I would have discovered this video earlier. It answered all the questions I researched painfully all over the internet for the last two weeks. Great video!
thorough and smooth, didn't include the aluminum pressed in type but with everything you included and the open minded approach it can all be surmised, thank you so much!
well done Mike. i was actually emailing you about my build and once i hit send i knew i could find a vid on here to solve the question i had about my shock. Mike to the rescue.
All the information here is great but thank you for including the section at the end about 22mm width hardware often being sold as 21.84mm or 22.2mm and which should be used for a bike that specifies 22mm exactly. I found this video while looking for precisely that information!
Your videos are absolutely fantastic and informative, and your customer service and technical support are on point. Subscribed and you gained a new customer. Can't wait for my new coil shock to get here.
@@TheLostCoIt was honestly stupidly easy. I just had to remove the bushings on the bottom eyelet that came in the shock which popped right out, I thought I'd need to order some hardware to remove them at first. Good luck out on the trails!
thank you very much FOX doesn't provide guides or pictures for the crush-washer, upgrading from an older Rockshox system I didn't know where I was supposed to place it and in which direction
Geat video. Couple of questions tho... 1: Where can I buy the apprpropriate extraction tools (hopefully for less than 120 bucks). 2: How do I know which extraction tool wil fitt my hardware, and 3: Don´t you want to put some kind of lubrication in there? Surely, a bit of grease won´t hurt hem o-rings. - But great video. Keep´em coming.
Great video! I just wish y'all had a link to the List Co database you mentioned... Having a hard time finding it actually, thank you so much though this is very helpful!
I stopped using normal bush and now use needle roller bearings, so much better all stainless and work so much better I have to increase the low speed compression as the shock is free to move better.
Very nice video! Thank you for posting! But I have had enough of Fox. Cannot understand why you should pay that much for something more complicated when you can have the same performance from Rockshox.
Do YOU have a Trek Fuel, Remedy, or Slash? Are you swapping shocks and need the correct offset fox hardware? Then you will need; 1. Trek Part number 540755 x2 (the bolts) [warning, do NOT get the trek "lower" bolt 540756 as it will be too short, as others have found out]. 2. 60mm wide upper bolt with 10mm bolt diameter, Fox Part number 803-03-321. 3. 50mm wide lower bolt with 10mm bolt shaft diameter and the correct offset spacers, Fox Part number 803-03-338. 👍
I went to my local bike shop to install my new fox float x rear shock on my Vitus Sommet 2018. They said they can’t install it and told me I need to reach out to the manufacturer (which they also don’t know) to ask what size is my frame mount hardware. I told the bike shop if they can measure it using caliper, but they said they can’t do it like that since my bike is very specific and that I need to ask straight to the manufacturer.
Question: Should the frame bolt that goes into the shock eyelet be greased? In other words should the area between the frame bolt and sleeve (aka pin) have grease on it?
Hi I measured my frame and there is 66mm of space but I can only buy 54mm or 68mm spacer, so should I buy bigger or should I buy smaller and then use somekind of screw washer to fit it in place?
My new fox shock arrived today and came with DU bushings installed, should I remove those ones and replace the with the ones that came with the mounting hardware?
My bike does not use any hardware on the rear shock eyelet. Without any hardware at all will the shock eyelet eventually wear out enough that I will have to buy a new shock?
Great, very helpful... is the shock of specialized enduro which is 205x60 trunnion can be fitted also with nukeproof giga which is the same size 205x60 trunnion. Many thanks
Yes, as long as the eye-to-eye and stroke length is the same, then you can install it the other bike. Since you said one bike uses 205x60 and the other also uses 205x60, then that is the same size and you can therefore swap shocks. You will need to swap mounting hardware as those sizes are likely differenet, and you will likely need to run totally different settings on the same shock between the two bikes as the internal tunes are likely a little different. -Mike
Thank you for the video. Is the bushing removal tool specific to shock brands? I have a dpx2. Is there a specific one I should purchase or would any work? Thanks.
hello, my rear shocks bushings are worn out so do i have to buy all the mounting hardware or just the new bushing??? also how do i know my bikes bushing size??? (marin alpine trail 7 2022). thanks
So you can use any brand of mounting hardware for any brand of shock, besides the exceptions. The video is about the size of the hardware, but what would like to know: Are the spacers the same size? Or, is the width of eyelets the same across brands? I need a 30x8 bushing for a Super Deluxe, but can't find any from RockShox.
We also have RockShox mounting hardware in stock in m8x30 in stock and ready to ship! thelostco.com/products/rockshox-rear-mounting-hardware?variant=42732113232070 -Mike
Thanks for your reaction. I interpreted it as just the diameter. You mean the width of the eyelet is standard as well? I live in Europe and I only look for bikeparts in Europe. Importing stuff makes stuff expensive. 🙂
i got a 2010 specialized Demo 8 been having problems finding mounting hardware for my fox dps the frame bolt is 15mm and the eyelet is 15.08, the inside of the frame is 36mm and that bearing the holds the bolt is 15mm , so how do i find a mounting kit to fit if they only come in m6/m8-m10 guess my question is does those plastic bushings have a 15mm diameter
We mean to convey a list in that section: "Doing an upgrade, going from air to coil, or because your shock is damaged.." as opposed to "Upgrading from air to coil." Hope that clears it up!
Installed this set on a 2019 Deluxe RT, it was all the correct spec but a super snug fit. I could not slide my tube in the way you did in the video. I had to use a mallet. How critical is it to center everything? I am >mm off.
Hey there! Sorry, but I'm having a tough time understanding your situation 100%. Please email us at sales@thelostco.com and we'll be happy to help! -Mike
this may be a silly question but is it possible to change from trunion to eyelet??? I have a awesome Cane Creek shock as a spare and want to use it on my 2020 Scott Genius that has a TR shock.
Technically, yes... But it would involve a lot of parts and labor to do so. In the end, it would be more time and money efficient to simply sell it and purchase a new one.
