If I had to be absorbed by another guitar player it would have to be Sheryl Crow. Or maybe I'd teach all of Girls Aloud (except the minging one) to play guitar & then they could collectively absorb me.
I don't think Sheryl would be able to absorb you all, which would mean some kind of scary Crowe/Anderton hybrid. Does the world really need something with a great blues tone wearing high heeled shoes?
Now is a good time to let you know that I purchased the download from your site, and I'm thrilled with your playing! I've not had a chance to hear you play for an extended period, just on these videos.Fantastic riffage!!
Dear Mr Chapman, I am Ali from Pakistan. i just want tell you its such a pleasure seeing your videos regarding reviews interviews and hearing your suggestions and opinions about that equipment & music. Please keep on making videos i really enjoy watching them every day. Your a very generous man for taking time to share knowledge. Thankyou.
Rob! I work for a company who supply acupuncture needles, we actually sponsor the BACC and AACP for many of their events, if her ever needs needles he needs to go to Phoenix Medical ;)
Great Q&A Rob! So happy to hear someone with your influence preaching about songs being stories! I'm so bored of everyone my age writing generic lyrics and melodies... And the wave analogy made me feel so much more secure about my own playing - thanks so much dude :) \m/
Great guitar, great playing, and great words of wisdom. I always enjoy listening to you talk about guitar playing and guitar philosophy. Keep rocking Brother-
Really glad to see that you even gave your rig choice if you didn't own a guitar company and a signature amp. That just shows you're not in It for the money. Great work chappers. As always keep it up! Cheers, Daniyal.
Ofcourse but I'm pretty sure he could have just said that his gear is the best and that's all he would choose, but he didn't. Obviously he needs to make money. But he wouldn't lie to his viewers in order to do so. Like SOOO many others would. That's what's I'm saying
really enjoy watching these vids Rob Chapman both entertaining and informative, sadly they probably are not going to make up for my catastrophic lack of natural talent and total absence of ability, but I enjoy picking up my guitar and playing and I that's all that matters
Man. When I saw you pick that Gunslinger up in the original video, I fell in love with it. Glad it at least went to a great home, even if it couldn't be mine. :)
The feeling when Chappers and you have the same opinion about Yngwie. The feeling after the above feeling when Chapper mentions Marty's name and how great he is.. simply GooseBumpilicious
"I can't eat a lot of man" had me laughing. Congrats on the success of Chapman Guitars. Good people, good product, leading to success. My guess for next Chapman signature - hollow body of some sort.

Thank you, your expanded answers gave me some new ideas!
300 pounds isn't cheap? Real world, certainly not. Guitar world, certainly. The edge of the midrange guitars in the market are borderline £300 I'd say. And compared to a Gibson, it's like a 1p coin really.
Got my first Chapman ML1 last friday best guitar i've ever played/owned so comfortable to play with amazing tone compared to some guitars i own/owned such as fender/gibson/epihone/cort/schecter now selling bunch of gear to get the ml1 hotrod which i am going to modify & one of the new ml3 when they are released. If you are someone who is thinking of getting a Champan guitar dont think about it just get it.
I'll give my answers to the "absord a guitarist" and "amp/cab/guitar/3pedals" questions. For me it would be Steve Vai every day of the week. I wouldn't even have to think about it. There is nothing he can't play. Too bad he can't write a decent song but that would be up to me. But purely on the ability to play guitar I think he's second to none. Amp would Mesa/Boogie Road King (or Marshall JVM). I'd want the versatility it offers. (I could say AxeFx which I would get but that kinda defeats the purpose of this question I think) Cab could be basically any good 4x12 but for the sake of this question I'd take the Joe Bonamassa cab that uses those 200w (each) EV speakers (that Zakk Wylde also uses). Guitar would be Ibanez Steve Vai 7 string (the new white one) or Music Man John Petrucci 7 string or something very similar. I would need the 7th string just so it'd be there if I need it and I do need it occasionally. Which is kinda ironic as I have 15 electric guitars atm and no 7 string yet ;) Pedals would be Ibanez Weeping Demon wah pedal. I just love that pedal. Some good digital stereo chorus and delay pedals, probably Boss. Honestly I could do with just the wah pedal
Guitar idea: Explorer-ish guitar with a matte black pickguard, two or three humbuckers. C-shape maple neck with a rosewood or ebony fretboard, with jumbo frets. And maybe a vibrato bar. Call it the MLX or whatever.
On the question of finding your own unique style: study other genres, from Jazz to classical to blue grass. The go back and play what you love and keep an open mind while you borrow from all you have learned. That way you'll end up sounding like yourself.
This sounds amazing, dude. Yet another example in favour of Camera Mic. I think camera mic / room mic sounds better, more Real, because after all, it's like I'm standing where the camera is, in the room, listening. That's how I try it out in the shop, that's how I like it in demo videos. =)
I was on the look for a one volume/one pup guitar and tried the gunslinger. Nearly cut my fingers on the frets. Really bas fret work and this is a guitar which at the time costed about 700$ here in Norway. I ended up with a second hand G&L Rampage :-)
NEVER understood what people see/hear in Yngwie Malmsteen. I tried out listening to all the big ones he's known for and and it's like "ok, that was pretty cool sounding. I mean, obviously insanely fast, but as a song and WHICH notes he's playing insanely fast it's nothing to drop my jaw over. And considering that "much slower" players like Eddie, Jimmy, Jimi, Angus, and Murray blew my mind open with the riffs and solo's they dug out of their souls not relying really at all on impressing people with flash, just badass out-of-this-world music I couldn't have imagined before hearing them, that makes Malmsteen's 'pretty cool' music 'pretty meh'."
Watch this and think again. /watch?v=lGpIsCqkCvo Yngwie's vibrato and the way he picks (tight and accurately). Steeler, Alcatrazz and older Yngwie albums are alot better than his new ones.
EM Thiele LOL, REALLY DUDE? I can't even believe you're being serious with what you just said. That has to be a joke or something cuz I'm laughing and grinning ear to ear right now.
Peter Moorhead you nailed it, unlike this other douchebag ass who can only survive by thinking he's way cooler than he really is. No one is wrong if they like or dislike certain music, certain paintings, or any form of art. It's completely subjective. People like what they like, and it's just personal. And people are going to disagree. It's only those who believe you can attack other people's tastes and MUST agree with them that are total fuckbags who should get their asses beat to a pulp.
Jesse Salo ok I checked it out, and it's basically what I said in my original post. Besides that one part where he made it sound like a violin, which I was diggin, it was just fast and technical stuff (that includes vibrato. I don't buy all the music and merch and study a guy's work simply because of his vibrato skills). There's a difference between hearing something, and thinking "wow, I want to play LIKE that" and "wow, I want to play THAT". Nothing in that vid (or any of his other music really) makes me want to learn exactly what he played, or listen to it over and over till the end of my life.
Rob, who inspired you to create your sound, like which guitarists as a child/teenager inspired you to take that particular 'tone' or playing style and you then which evolved it into what your sound is now?
it's hard not to like bc rich when you where a teen in the 80's, I have a couple (ones 25 years old with I guess a vintage EMG-81) would love a warlock in that slime green such as the one in scatterbrains hey dude dont call me dude clip.
It's why I like EMG pickups, no soldering at all. I've never wired and installed pickups before but I can easily install EMG pickups in any guitar now.
it's not as hard as you think. the first time i've done it it took me about half an hour, now that i've done it about 5 times just changing pickups takes me less than 15 minutes, a full wiring about 45 minutes. try it, it opens up tons of possibilities, and there's no risk of breaking anything. if you soldered wrong, just unsolder it and try again.
when Mark Sandman (Morphine, Treat Her Right) was asked why he used 2 strings on his slide bass guitar, his answer was... "well, all I need is one, two is a extravagance on my part" when I hear people talking about how they're worried about there originality, I quote Mr. Sandman statement
Oh, guess you don't wanted to eat your own spleen! ;)
I get it! (;
‡ GASH ‡ I see what you did there 😆
If I had to be absorbed by another guitar player it would have to be Sheryl Crow. Or maybe I'd teach all of Girls Aloud (except the minging one) to play guitar & then they could collectively absorb me.

hello rob, are you gonna eat your own spleen?
Dear Mr Chapman, I am Ali from Pakistan. i just want tell you its such a pleasure seeing your videos regarding reviews interviews and hearing your suggestions and opinions about that equipment & music. Please keep on making videos i really enjoy watching them every day. Your a very generous man for taking time to share knowledge. Thankyou.
nice content when I am felling down I put on your vids to make me smile
Every single time I see a chappers video it always makes me want a coffee. Guaranteed everytime I always end up going getting one too.
Rob! I work for a company who supply acupuncture needles, we actually sponsor the BACC and AACP for many of their events, if her ever needs needles he needs to go to Phoenix Medical ;)
Endorse him and I'll make a video
How would one go about that? haha
You would simply contact him and offer him an agreed annual amount of free needles/supplies
Sweet, I'll talk to the boss :)
The next signature will obviously be a *Flying V*
+1
Now there's a signature model I'd love to see
Great Q&A Rob! So happy to hear someone with your influence preaching about songs being stories! I'm so bored of everyone my age writing generic lyrics and melodies... And the wave analogy made me feel so much more secure about my own playing - thanks so much dude :) \m/
I love the answers in this episode. I am even bigger fan now.
Great guitar, great playing, and great words of wisdom. I always enjoy listening to you talk about guitar playing and guitar philosophy.

Every business owner is in it for the money, nobody starts a business not to make money.
Ofcourse but I'm pretty sure he could have just said that his gear is the best and that's all he would choose, but he didn't. Obviously he needs to make money. But he wouldn't lie to his viewers in order to do so. Like SOOO many others would. That's what's I'm saying
Love that little Top Gun bit!!
really enjoy watching these vids Rob Chapman both entertaining and informative, sadly they probably are not going to make up for my catastrophic lack of natural talent and total absence of ability, but I enjoy picking up my guitar and playing and I that's all that matters
Your videos are really cool and helpful as a guitarist, thanks Rob
i worked for yngwie in 94/95 he was really cool to me i also have a BC Rich gunslinger -- yngwie signed my BC Rich pro--- they are both neon green!!!!
Man. When I saw you pick that Gunslinger up in the original video, I fell in love with it. Glad it at least went to a great home, even if it couldn't be mine. :)
Good call on Yngwie. That's exactly what I thought when I heard the question.
"I can't eat a lot of man"
That was the funniest thing I've heard this Millenium!
Woohoo! This was a great start to my day! Gonna go wake up the neighbours with my guitar in dedication to you! Cheers man! XD
The feeling when Chappers and you have the same opinion about Yngwie. The feeling after the above feeling when Chapper mentions Marty's name and how great he is.. simply GooseBumpilicious
Such quality. Many pixels. Wow.
THE MONKEYLORD APPROACHES!
man rob i would love to just sit with you, drink tea and philosophe about life. youre great!
"I can't eat a lot of man" had me laughing.
Congrats on the success of Chapman Guitars. Good people, good product, leading to success.
My guess for next Chapman signature - hollow body of some sort.
Thank you, your expanded answers gave me some new ideas!
By the way, I love Top Gun Anthem!!!! :) :) :)
I feel like Jerry Cantrell would be amazing to absorb
I knew you were gonna but it. I saw in your eyes in that other video you loved it. Badass
Still waiting on the ukele shredding video... cheers from Texas
You know what, your a top bloke Rob! A top, top bloke!
Love that Gunslinger! Nothing like a decent cheap guitar :)
a shit expensive guitar
300 pounds or so is not cheap.
300 pounds isn't cheap? Real world, certainly not. Guitar world, certainly. The edge of the midrange guitars in the market are borderline £300 I'd say. And compared to a Gibson, it's like a 1p coin really.
That guitar takes all, super awsome, so 80'ies..., so good!
Hey Rob you should post a vid of the slimer with the new wiring. :) \m/
by request
damn that amp is killer! its has so much clarity and good depth!
Custom Custom is a great pickup. That used to be one of my go-to pickups back in the day. I seem to like the JB/Jazz combo more recently.
You are a very good teacher! and a nice person.
thank you rob my day will be great now

i saw that model once in a guitar store... nice playing and review man, keep it up :)
Jackson guitars is where it's at guys they are amazing got one myself have no complaints about it
I'd love to use this guitar for a jazz gig
It's actually an alder body on that BC Rich! Sounds great with the Duncan Custom Custom!
I love it when he throws his pick at the camera lol.
ROB IS THE BEST!!
I just used all my money on this guitar with a Rockfield humbucker in it. Not regretting one bit! My first guitar with a floyd rose
I'm from the North East, so enjoyed your use of the word "mint" aha
I'd absorb synyster gates,
I knew Rob was going to buy that green monster hehe it was all over his face like Waynes World "oh yes, you will be mine"
Guitar idea: Explorer-ish guitar with a matte black pickguard, two or three humbuckers. C-shape maple neck with a rosewood or ebony fretboard, with jumbo frets. And maybe a vibrato bar.
Call it the MLX or whatever.
That guitar sure is green, your answers were very interesting but the pants are the best ever.
4:08 You win the internet Chappers!
I was drinking a cup of coffee with almond milk too…. Cheers Rob!!
Woohoo Rob! Can't wait to get myself a Chapman guitar (:

I have un branded guitar from the 80's that looks exactly like that

Cool thing about blues as well, is that in a I-IV-V any interval will sound 'right' (actually perhaps not the dominant V chord) .
Thanx man, Im always getting absolutely hyped by your motivation stuff. !!! Amazing !!!
Would you ever consider comming to Ireland with Dorje?
That paint job is brighter than Chappers future.
I was on the look for a one volume/one pup guitar and tried the gunslinger. Nearly cut my fingers on the frets. Really bas fret work and this is a guitar which at the time costed about 700$ here in Norway. I ended up with a second hand G&L Rampage :-)
But does the BC Rich Gunslinger "Slimer" Djent?
fascinating answers. great vid

I agree, voice in me head!
Sounds quite vintage , i like it .
I'd absorb B. B. King. Best vibrato in the universe.
Rob, who inspired you to create your sound, like which guitarists as a child/teenager inspired you to take that particular 'tone' or playing style and you then which evolved it into what your sound is now?
Lovin the Slime Gunslinger. I reckon your next signature guitar will be a V.
You should do more Q&As I love them!
I liked the end I just so happened to have tea in my favorite mug
it's hard not to like bc rich when you where a teen in the 80's, I have a couple (ones 25 years old with I guess a vintage EMG-81) would love a warlock in that slime green such as the one in scatterbrains hey dude dont call me dude clip.
That was one spiritual video!
Love the sound of that amp.
And I have those same pajama pants, lol. Very nice.

Yeah but then I would need to buy a solder first :P
about 15 bucks,
B.C. Rich nice, I have one of their Doubleneck Bitch models and it plays and sounds great.
Rob Chapman Would you rather have an awesome amp and no pedals or a good amp with pedals? (guitar remains the same)
Loved that wiring comment haha!
You've probably wired the pot back to front. That's how the volume works on a Left Handed Guitar where reverse taper pots have not been used.
Those shorts are amazing.
LOL that top gun riff, yes please.
Also, thank you for calling me wonderful! xD
What was that riff at the start? Also awesome video Chappers!
does the pickup being angled towards the middle/bridge make the lower strings sound warmer?
GODDAMMITT!!! I have the same pair of jammies!!!
Martial arts + Acupuncture and a killer guitarist. Humm coolest guy around? Yep just maybe B-)
Topgun theme ftw!
Glad to see you with a BC Rich _at last_, even if it's ugly, now remember your own lesson and stop playing sidesaddle ;)
Rob, any chance of making a PRS custom 24 influenced Chapman model? That would be SWEET!
I hope you're working on a Signature V! There's been a lot of talk about a Chapman V on the forum lately! Would be the best guitar ever!
I hope BC Rich gets their crap together, and come back with a bang!!!!
Rob, at the end of your last Q&A vid, you played an awesome riff, if it new material or just jamming? Cheers, keep up the great work!
Love that guitar. I'm saving up to get one :D what pickup do you recommend to put In for a slash style tone?
Great looking pants
Chappers!
:)
Nice Top Gun riff Rob!!!
