I own one of these. Mine is still completely stock. It's my go-to guitar when I just want to pick one up and rip. It's ALWAYS in tune. You have to go beyond Steve Vai with the trem to knock it out of tune. If I want to play blues or something clean, maybe it's not the best choice for that. But if you playing hi-gain, I've nothing negative to say about it.
When it comes to pickups, I use Duncans for passive and EMG for active. I was a Duncan Distortion guy until I discovered the Seymour Duncan Alternative 8 (I have it in my Les Pauls). It has an alnico 8 magnet instead of a ceramic. You're correct about the SH-6. I did just get a SH-6 for my Kramer but it isn't like the old ones I use to have. I also tried a JB in the Kramer but it just didn't do it for me. It looks like I will be putting an EMG 81X in the Kramer. I do need to consider that no matter what I do to the Kramer, it's not going to be as thick as my Pauls. I just bought it to have add some diversity to the Guitarsonal. Plus it's the Snake Sabo with the snake graphic that looks cool... If you get a chance, try a Seymour Duncan Alternative 8 and let me know your take on it.. I have some videos on my channel with my Gibsons and the SD A8. I also think you would dig the 2015 Gibson line. They have wider necks and they are a shredders dream. ua-cam.com/channels/sgHmYyAdq9_fIJwcC675SQ.html
@@GuitarWithDofka It's easier with Les Pauls. I just haven't had the luck with the Kramer. Everything else like Jackson, Ibanez, ex, have been easy to find a pup that works. Side Note: The Jackson RR24X V I bought my son came with active Seymour Duncan Blackouts and they were terrible! I swapped them out for EMG 57/66. I never had good luck with active Duncans. Especially the older ones. The amp is an EVH 5150 III 50w. 2x12 combo with the EVH 4x12 ex cab. It's the older one that has 3 channels but 1 and 2 share the same volume and gain so that makes it a 2 channel. No clean at all but I have a Digitech running so I can bypass the pre amp for clean tones.
Sweet axe! I really want an 80s style 'super strat' of some sort, whether I gotta piece one together or find a burning deal on a complete one, just as long as it has a Floyd on it. 😄 Anyways, great video!
I would load it with a DiMarzio Tone Zone or Super Distortion or Super 3, and if I wanted to be really extreme an X2N, although I find them a bit too much these days. I agree that the modern iteration of the Duncan Distortion ain't what it used to be. I've used them as well. The old ones were great. I don't know what they've done but they changed it and I don't dig that. I find DiMarzios way more consistent. On the issue of the Floyd, I'm not a fan of Floyds but if I were to use one I'd set it flush Eddie style so it can only dive. That really is the only way to stay in tune with a Floyd. Even with a higher end Floyd you still will eventually have issues with the fulcrum edges wearing and that will affect tuning stability in a floating position.
Is this the Chinese version? I have the green Chinese one ...very thin and very bright !!! They are supposed to be basswood... none of my basswood Ibanez guitars are bright. Must be some cheap wood, sadly ... because the build quality on mine is flawless
This is the MIC version. It’s a solid guitar for sure. I believe it is basswood, sounds good but I usually prefer that low resonance other woods provide…Mahogany
BTW your playing is incredible!
Thank you
The ones that had the super distortion Grover tuners should have kept it I had to red . It had fret buzz bad, fret were not filed well...
I own the same guitar same color with SD pickup , played it at gigs for like 7 years and spilled bud and Jägermeister all over it.
I call that "well seasoned" \m/

I love the Alt 8. The trick is to find the right pick up the compliments the right guitar with the right amp head. It sounds so easy doesn’t it?

Yeah man! Put a Warmoth super Strat together or something of the sort. That way you can put it to your personal specs.
Great jam buddy!!! All my support and best vibes!
Thank you! I really appreciate that! 🤘
Nice Jim!! Just pulled out a Psycho Scream vintage t-shirt. U want it?
That’s some vintage goods.

Thank You
How many guitars do you have Jim? Love Maple fingerboards
Not a lot. I’ve had many through the years however.
Is this the Chinese version?

Would you sell this to me if you still have it? I’ve been wanting one for a while
It’s not for sale
