  • I perform a direct comparison of the Hyway 46mm pop-up piston to the Stihl 028av Super piston.
for use on the Husqvarna 55 with closed port Hyway cylinder.

I would run the. 017 squish. That's not to terrible for a cylinder that small. I've seen guys running. 015 and not have an issue. I would give it a try.

Hi, I also have a husqvarna 55, I can change the piston with the model from Stihl 028av Super, does it work?

Well, if you watch the video, you'll see that it didn't work for me. It gave too little squish area. Of course, it only needed .003" removed from the top to have worked. I suspect that it also would have worked fine on a cheaper cylinder. Check out the channel Red Shed Power Saws. He does it all the time using cheaper cylinders. Either way, yes it will work, but it will require some modifications.

Just get a thicker base gasket. You’ll be good to go.

I plan on revisiting this now that my lathe is going. Now I can just remove a smidgen from the top of the piston. Should be good to go!
