    Thanks for going through all this!! I’ve got two dump find 55’s and two 028’s from the same place. Already did a custom muffler on the 55 which turned out great! Next will be the pop up piston and mild port work on the stock jug. I really liked that saw you did for Dan👍

      @JKSawShop  Рік тому +1

      Dan’s has a 55 pop up piston and some port work. It is definitely a great runner. There is quite a bit of work that goes with the 028 piston swap, they are not a direct bolt on a go.

      I may have to buy a piston yet… haven’t tore down the 028’s yet to see if they are any good but they’ve got good compression and I’ve had em both running so 🤞 should be a fun journey! Been saving up parts for this for a couple years and watching your vids is really helpful 👍 thanks JK!

    So do you really need to cut a relief for the spark plug? Got a hyway CP cylinder and went for the 028 because squish was horrible on the hyway kit, 0.058 if i aint mistaken, now with a 0.015 gasket i'm at 0.023 with the 028 piston, but i'm not touching the spark plug, should i still notch a dimple in it or leave it as is?

  • @82f100swb
    @82f100swb 2 роки тому

    I ended up with a .010 base gasket to get to .020 squish, the popup was actually hitting the chamber with no gasket. With the .010 gasket I was able to get away with just a second gasket on the plug.
    I've kind of always felt my built 55 was a turd, even when it was bone stock, now it's just a polished one... LOL

    I bought a new rancher 55 in 2000. Spent more time putting the chain back on the rollertip bar than I did sawing. Next day bought a new non roller tip bar. It never oiled the chain enough to suit me. I tore all that loosey goosey VI stuff loose. Its now in a 51 housing. Engine still runs good. Dont use it very much. I would rather use my 68CC 1967 Lombard or a 58 cc super XL automatic. Me and roller tip bars and plastic saws dont get along very well.

      @@JKSawShop I've got 2 base gaskets to choose from and the head that's on it is a farmertec but the squish is like .038 with no gasket so it's pretty loose. That's what made me go with the 028 piston hopefully to get a little more compression and a double ring piston should have less blow by
