    As always thanks for this fabulous video. I've been looking for a pattern with short and tall pinwheels for at least three years and was thrilled to find not only the FREE pattern but also a free VIDEO! Can't wait to start making this. My mother-in-law made a quilt like this over 70 years ago. Since my husband's family was mennonite, she made it all by hand including the quilting. I so regret that I didn't meet her before she passed on to Heaven. I know she would taught me so much. We cherish our quilt of course and our daughter-in-law has expressed that she'd love to have one like it. I now feel A LOT more confortable making with thes wonderful gifts from MSQC! Thanks to your whole team for doing more and more awesome free videos and patterns for us. God bless each of you.

    Yay, now I know what to do with all the pinwheels I made for another project. The triangle ruller squaring-method you shared is priceless: trimming just the one side AND BEFORE YOU PRESS! ... Great Scot, What a time saver, and fabric saver, CHAIN PIECING is so cool! Thanks Jennie.😊☝❤

    I kept buying adorable pink fabrics when my daughters were having babies. After the 8th grandson I have lots of pink fat quarters. The pinwheel will be a very fun quilt to use them up. Can't wait to get it done.

    Sewing a 1/4 around, cutting, then piecing makes quick pinwheels. Agree, the fabric is soft and sweet. The quilt looks like pinwheel confetti. Thanks Jenny!

    Wonderful job Jenny. I understand your confusion when I was younger I sewed my legs together on a jumpsuit. It took me a while to realize what I’d done after I unpicked it twice.

    • @grandmalovesmebest
      @grandmalovesmebest 3 роки тому

      😂😂😂. I sewed top side of long jumpsuit to bottom side of leg (too much fabric!) on my first garment. Learned i had zero ability for mental manipulation when i took up quilting. So i count: print to solid/pink one, yellow one/red plaid up, red plaid down.
      Im not a great quilter but i know that it's done when i run out of breath!😤

    I'm thrilled that you made a new pinwheel tutorial. This is really nice. I used your first pinwheel tutorial last fall to make my first pinwheel quilt. My niece just loves pinwheels and I was so scared because I only saw you make the pinwheels and there wasn't an example of a quilt! It turned out beautifully (because I watched that tutorial and said the mantra over and over again)! I even wrote your company and received a lovely reply that there was only one pinwheel tutorial. So, thank you Jenny. I appreciate your time. You've taught me so much!

    What I'd do is separate out print squares. Most layer cakes have duplicates. Then I'd sew all background and print squares all the way around. Then I'd cut them apart. That way if you get pulled away, your small squares will have at least 1 side sewn and won't "walk away". I really hate it when I come back to a project and find pieces temporarily missing.

    What causes those little puckers on the corners? I have those quite often, especially when I’m top quilting. I don’t do free motion, mostly stitch in the ditch between blocks. When I come up to previous stitching I get a pucker. Any tips?

    • @susanmei9980
      @susanmei9980 6 років тому

      Try using a walking foot. That feeds top layer same rate as bottom; helps prevent puckers. :-)

    • @MsCheshireGrin
      @MsCheshireGrin 6 років тому

      I do use a walking foot and it still happens :(

    • @susanmei9980
      @susanmei9980 6 років тому

      +cosmogirl I'm sorry to hear that. That can be so frustrating. I wonder if some temporary spray adhesive would help? I've never used that. I used to have this problem sometimes. What I eventually figured out is that when sewing the rows in the first direction, there was a smidge of extra fabric on top, between the rows of stitching. So, when I sewed in the crosswise direction, it would cause a fold-over when I got to the cross-line of quilting. Does that make sense? That tiny bit of fabric would push along in front of the presser foot, until it couldn't push any farther, because it met a cross line of stitching. So the challenge is, I guess, to make sure your top fabric is pulled quite taught, before and during basting. Which I always thought I did, but still sometimes had trouble at the cross seams, until I started using the walking foot, and for me, its been much better, ever since.

    • @susanmei9980
      @susanmei9980 6 років тому

      +cosmogirl One trick I used to employ, though, is that if I could see a pucker was probably going to happen at an intersection, if I noticed soon enough, I could use my fingers to ease in really tiny bits along the way, not quite big enough to create a pucker, so by the time I got to the intersection, the extra fabric was used up. Worked pretty well, and once the quilt is washed,, there is a kind of puckering that happens anyway, so it will really be invisible. I hope this will be of some help to you. :-) If not, I just try to remember that no quilt is perfect anyway, and that is just proof it was hand-crafted in love, and not made by some giant robot. ;-)
