Lots of people are complaining about the video not being long enough but it is so easy to get all the instructions they need for all of Jenny's videos if they would just subscribe to their BLOCK magazine. It comes bi-monthly and contains 10 patterns in each issue with no advertising (I just love that!), are well bound printed on very nice quality paper with full color photos and diagrams. The magazines are so reasonably priced and they don't even charge your credit card for the whole year at once. They only charge your credit card for 1 issue at a time just before they ship that 1 issue to you. Now who couldn't afford that? The back of the magazine has instructions for the construction basics like borders, binding and more. To see what is inside each of the issues, just turn the magazine over to see the back cover for photos of what is inside. Genius idea! I consider my BLOCK magazines "treasures" to keep in my sewing/quilting reference library. Anything else you need to know can be found in their youtube tutorial videos. And when I order from them, they are always prompt and efficient. Their quality service is unmatched. Don't you just LOVE the Doan family and their employees, Hamilton, MO and MSQC? I know I do!
I agree that this tutorial does seem rushed. I got lost on the chevron layout instruction. Still love the pattern and Jenny. The fact that she gives us a pattern every week and that it is not an advertisement for products is appreciated. Thanks, MSQC
actually, it IS a very subtle advertisement for products. Which is totally fine! I think this particular quilt deserves a longer tutorial and I am going to buy the pattern to support the video :-)
Jenny, dear, thanks for another beautiful quilt project! One of the things I like about the process of making eight HST’s from a 10 inch square is that you can also use four matching charm squares to get the same thing, if your stash includes a collection of multiple charm packs. 🤗
Dallas Meyers, how do you do that? Just mark and sew in each side of the triangle? I have a bunch of charm packs and I’ve been wondering. Do they still make the 4.5” triangles? Thank you for bringing this up!
@@phylliscampbell2325 I have a lot of charm packs too, so this was a fun realization for me! Yes, you would just take the 5 inch square and mark a line across it diagonally, sew on both sides of the line and cut between the lines. It makes two 4.5 inch HST's. In the tutorial you can see that when Jenny makes the cuts on her ten inch square, her vertical and horizontal cuts virtually make the 10 inch square into four 5 inch squares, and then her diagonal cuts actually create the HST's. These precuts really are very versatile! Best wishes.
Thanks for another great tutorial!! I don’t think it was too fast at all. It’s all HST and you showed how to lay out each block 🤷♀️. So beautiful. I may have to try this pattern soon!
Absolutely gorgeous!! Really nice that it can be made into a quick and easy baby quilt with just the one star in the centre. Thank you so much Jenny for sharing your knowledge - Lois from London, UK.
cute fabric so bright and cheery. I LOVE that you are finally using a square up tool, hope you do so in all your future tutorials so that the thousands of followers can put their quilt units together without all the crappy pieces that are not the same. congratulations on teaching the best way to put a block together: square it up first, then sew
Rene Perlich Most people (including me) watch the videos a couple of times and then do a step, stop the video, watch another step and go on. There are MSQC videos that help those who are beginners. There's one serious (I think there are seven videos to this series I mentioned) where Jenny takes the nine patch step by step for the brand-new beginner to quilting.
Oh Jenny,! That fabric is adorable! It's amazing to me that tweeking either the fabric colors or the way our hst lay makes a completely different look! Thank you for making these videos easy and fun!
Just love the way you do this with 10” squares. Love the colors but most of all the way you make it look so easy. Thank you Jenny I learn so much from you and always look forward to your tutorials.
I’m cutting this out today. This tutorial for the stars. Is complete but not for the rest of the quilt Next to Pins and paws this is a fav. And even I can do it. Thank you sooooooo much I really would like a tutorial for the small version
It amazes at how timely you are with your videos. I am currently working on a sea life quilt with the chevrons. I was wondering how I was going to accomplish the design I wanted. You have showed me exactly what I needed to know to accomplish this quilt. You make it so easy and you are and awesome teacher. Thank you again and again.
Love Love this quilt. This is a perfect Christmas present for my sister-in-law. I can using one solid color and then the white. I think that would be very striking!
Love this pattern and fabric! And who doesn't get detracted by looking at the beautiful fabric you are cutting!! I really like that you usually add the inner border that frames the quilt. Always enjoy your tutorials and patterns! Keep them coming! Thanks!
Another great video and another beautiful quilt to add to my “must do “ list! Love how you take one half-square triangle block and make it look so different just by the way you lay it out!
I so wish Jenny would do a tutorial on how to do the 2 1/2" borders and the wider borders on a big quilt, and maybe how to square up the quilt. All I can find are videos where they use a doll quilt or table mat, and we all know the bigger the project the harder it is.
Thanks for another fantastic tutorial/project. I look forward to late Thursday night to be one of the first to see your new project. Stay safe with any flooding out there. My SIL home is underwater there in Chillicothe, behind Walmart area. 😢 Anyway Jenny thanks to you and the MSQC crew!!
Jenny, absolutely LOVE this quilt AND the fabric colors are gorgeous!!! 😍 I have a layer cake packet I’ve been itching to use. This is the pattern!! Thank you!
Eek! I am making this quilt in “Braveheart” and a charm of “Apple Festival” fabrics sprinkled in. It is turning out so pretty. I bought the actual pattern on their website so I could refer back to get the instructions for the connecting two rows of sashing... I made five stars and one chevron..! so far, sew good!!
Hi Tineke! I have just started this quilt and I am looking forward to the finished project. The pattern does not indicated the direction that the seams are pressed. Can you help me with that? Thank you!!
I am absolutely in love with this quilt and the fabric you used to make it! And with our Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmers I'm guaranteed to make it beautifully! Is the inner border a 2.5" strip?

The great thing about a video tutorial is you can back it up and re-watch the parts you don’t get. I’ve done that many times and it’s super helpful.

Another great option for a Quilt of Valor in red white and blue!
My thought exactly! Thanks
Perfect for valor. Just perfect
Happy Birthday Jenny! Many more wonderful years ❤️❤️

I love the quilts that look so complicated but aren’t and use mostly precuts. I love it. Thank you Jenny
Love the method you use. Where can I order the triangle template you use and the name of it
I watch you all the time and have learned sooo much but this time you went sooo fast. Please don’t cheat us of your great instruction.
Love that fabric you used. For those who don’t want to make all of those 1/2 square triangles, you can make 6 flying geese for the star blocks.
I literally gasped when I saw this quilt! OMGoodness, the colorway and the easy 8 half squares. Simply a gorgeous quilt!!!

I very much agree!
I agree also, but I see that this video was done 1 year ago. Is there a video on squaring up that's come out since then, that I missed?
