Thank you for sharing your videos. What I really love is how you place such importance on journaling, yet also let people know that there are no hard and fast rules and that journaling can be anything you want it to be. It took me a long time to realize that, but once I did it was so freeing and I got over the stress of missing a day or a week or a month at a time. I think the hardest part for me was allowing myself to jump around from book to book.
Several years ago, I came across a sketch journalist that you might like. I’m sure her books are out of print now but you can find them on Amazon or maybe in your local library. Her style is a little different and more of a nature sketchbook, but I believe she talks about beginning her journaling life.
Anyway, her name is Hannah Hinchman and her book that I really like is A Trail Thru Leaves. She has a couple of others as well.

I loved this video. A great book for inspiration is also "No Excuses Art Journaling" by Gina Rossi Armfield. So far, Danny Gregory is also my favorite for the art journaling books.
I recently purchased A5 Muji notebooks (grid) for my TN and really do like the paper. Unfortunately, Nanami paper is out of the Seven Seas Notebooks until March. :( I have one of both, the Standard and the Writer and love the paper. Though I love my Hobonichi, I'm actually using it for the Fauxbonichi journaling group, and using my Standard as my personal art journal--I switched it around. I love that you advocate doing what works for you, whether it's multiple journals or just one, and that it really should be fun. I've been journaling since I could first write so I also have mutliple journals.

I, too, have been a journaler from the moment I could write. I have every journal I've ever written in so there is a bookcase full of them, plus some on top. In the past few years I've been doing creative journaling/art journaling and found that I had been doing this long before it became popular. It is also a good way to go back and reread them to see how much you have grown mentally and spiritually over the years. Thank you for putting your journals and thoughts out there and inspiring new journalers to try it.

I wish I could have kept journals when I was younger, unfortunately I lived in a very cramped house and the lack of privacy never allowed me to write my honest feelings.
I really love how expressive you are about your journals, you clearly love it and it makes your videos so enjoyable.

When I watch your journaling videos - hardly can handle myself and want to start doing this as well. Not that I have time for it, need a creative outlet (I'm a cardmaker so have place to get my creativity out), need to document my life (doing d PL) or like writing or drawing. But the way you're telling about this ... Oh God, I'm ready to give up everything and start journaling!
Great tips on getting inspired by. I often is inspired by stores windows (NYC is full of this stuff) or even by ads in a train.

I just loved this video. You have encouraged me to get back into journaling. It is a great stress reliever for me. I am very diligent in the beginning, and then I slack off. I think it is because I have always thought of journaling as just writing.Just looking on a page with just writing, becomes very boring for me. One thing I really love about it, is that there is no right or wrong way to do it. It is an individual preference. I have also ordered Susan Branch's book. She has another book coming out on Mother's day in 2016. Vicky, you are such a beautiful person inside and out, and I just love you to pieces. Thanks to this video,I have some ideas brewing.

I loved this video. I am a planner who is new to "planners". And I've always documented my thoughts, ideas and such but I'm trying my best to do so in a journal so that I can easily revisit. Thus far I've used an electronic journal because although I have journals (I just can't help but buy beautiful hardcover journals) I have no idea where is start, which is odd. I plan to really think about this. I loved your explanation of using your journal "as your friend". You've given me a lot to think about. Thank you! And I look forward to future posts.

+Essence of Me There are journal prompt lists around that can give you a place to start. They help me when I'm stumped. There is no perfect place or idea to begin with. Just pen to paper and a train of thought. I date my entries so I can look back at certain times.

Hi Vicky I love your videos! Would you consider doing a video of all your journals (blank and filled) chronicling your journal journey and letting us know the pros and cons of some of the journals you've tried? It doesn't have to be journal flips but they could talk about which ones have like the nicest paper or covers, expensive and inexpensive, stuff like that. You did something kind of like this with planners but i'm concerned more with journals haha XD. I've always journaled but now i'm getting into purchasing good quality journals and I don't know where to start. Thanks love :)

Vicky, Love these video's where you present your books and your journeys in them. I believe another place to find cheap books is the second hand stores like GoodWill. They have tons of super cheap books. I am starting to paper piece pictures and words I find in magazines as well and try to hand write journal within the topic or subject. Just ideas. TYFS always xoxo

i really enjoy how passionate you are about journaling, and i'm wondering if you have a criteria on what to keep and what to let go to the recycling bin. do you go trough all your journals and inserts after a while, and how and where do you storage them.

as always I enjoy your videos so much. You are so motivating. I've been doing a fauxbonichi and trying to write or whatever everyday. my foxy dori I love but I haven't been as on top of keeping up with it. also bought the year of the doodle just can't start get into starting it on a everyday thing just yet. I think in my brain it's such a beautiful book and I don't want to ruin it which is stupid. Does susan branch do cook books? I think I have something of her's from long ago. If it's her's she writes the recipes and has does pictures. I have to look for the book you mentioned.

hey! cool video :) I have two questions for you.
First, how do you find time to journal so much??
And second, the journal you are currently writing in, how long does it take you to finish it? I mean, to fill it up with writing. thanks! :)
