- While the #MehrauliMurderCase gripped the airwaves, ridiculous conspiracy theories and theatrics were in full supply as channels tried to one-up each other. Rubika on ABP News had a forensics team help her understand the case even as Arnab Goswami on Republic was busy assisting the investigators himself. Reporters scoured the jungle for masala while NDTV went out to look at fridges, giving LG some unwanted publicity.
Channels eventually returned to their usual Muslim-bashing programming by suggesting “love jihad”, and Sudhir Chaudhary’s dislike of dating apps like Bumble was on full display. Meanwhile, in the focus on sensationalism and bigotry, the issue of women’s safety was lost.

The problem is that for some reason, entire population is also criticising "Live-In" relationships claiming that they are not safe, without even taking into consideration that it is not the "Live-In" relationship which is the problem, but it is the nature of the people involved in it which causes issues.

A Dalit man, Khetram Bhim(22), was beaten to death allegedly because of his romantic links with a Muslim girl in Barmer village of Rajasthan in 2018. Bhim was reportedly having an affair with a member of his employer Mehboob Khan’s family.
The incident came to light when villagers chanced upon the victim’s dead body three days after he went missing. As per victim’s brother, Hariram Bhil, Bhim was called by Sadam Khan and Haiyaat Khan on the day of his death to a field, where a group of seven men were waiting for his brother. Once Khetram reached the spot, he was tied and reportedly beaten to death.

I live abroad, and so for this and other reasons I don't watch mainstream news anyway. However, the moment I heard about this case, I knew for the fact that unnecessary dramatization of this gruesome act will be broadcasted on all the channels. I know that a lot of parents, and brothers will put even more stricter regulations on their daughters and sisters, question and stigmatize, innocent, live-in relationships. The questions will also be raised for interfaith couples.

Some unsolicited option on everything around this case
- it's not about religion, it's about the person in particular, where he came from, his upbringing, moral values, his views on life, his childhood, traumas, financial issues that defines him.
- we only know one side of the story, we don't know much about the girl, why she choose to be in an abusive relationship. Her terms with her parents, her personal issues. It's sad that most of indian parents are not equipped or are trained to understand a grownup kids thoughts & respect them. Kids retaliate for a reason.
- parents can sell them selves to save an arranged marriage but won't even hug you when you go against their will to marry someone you love.
- in India, life has no value in general, forget about people who choose a different path. Society, family are enough to kill them mentally. How many of us are being accepted for who we are???
- in Hyderabad, a 4 year old child was raped for months in a school by a Hindu driver & media was quite about it except a one or two local channels. education minister promised to shut the school but the school is reopened and parents are fine sending their kids. We are insensitive, cold and have no empathy as a society. We won't cry & be careful untill it's our own blood or knocks our own doors.
- media is toxic, vultures. How they know to make money on such cases and educate each details which are not even true to put salt on wound but won't do any good program on educating momen safety, awareness on dating, sex education, LGBTQ issues or teen life in general and how to be a better parent.
- people who watch news channels are made to believe on religion and the conflicts which are no so severe in real life. I know many muslims who are way kinder than hindus.so people must have ther personal opinion, experience and belief system before believe the news.
- it's such a shame that we have to watch such news channels and many believe that the news is true. I was one of them in Sushant case.
- lastly, it's our responsibility to be safe be it while we travel, choose a friend, lover and a life partner. No neighbour, parents are going to save when it's religion, love and a LGBTQ issue.
These are my views, you may have your opinion, from my life experience and what I can think & process. Just don't put every one in a box. Respect the girl, she has lost her life. Have some empathy. Just pray that she gets justice & we teach our next generation to be mindful about their lives, support them, help eachother as a society.

If the crime would have been committed by a Suresh or Mahesh, this case wouldn't have been covered in such sensational way. Just see the Chandraveer case, which was reported the same day as Shardhha case, but has no coverage by any news channel despite being similar sort of brutality.
