- Indian TV news reached new heights of fame (read: shame) this week by making it to the international stage. We bring to you a complete lowdown on the whole #NupurSharma debacle and what that “fateful” day of Nupur’s channel-hopping looked like.
On May 26, Nupur went to News24, Republic TV and Times Now to make similar comments about the Prophet and Islam. One of those clips went viral, and she was suspended from the BJP.
Meanwhile, the hate on many mainstream Indian TV news continued.
We look at how Nupur’s case is not an isolated incident of Islam-baiting or the case of one bad apple. One only has to look at news debates after her fiasco to know that bigoted panelists and hateful comments against Muslims on TV news are not anomalies but the norm. The very format of news debates demands it.

I left watching TV debates long back just trying to make sure I stay neutral and in peace.
Then this is definitely not the place. I know many of you might think that why are Hindus so adamant about Shivling in the Gyanwapi mosque why can't they just move on. Well talk about religious sensitivity when it comes to Muslims. Here we have tolerated them washing their hands and feet in the most sacred place for Hindus, the jyotirlinga. My point is that why can't truth be known even if it bitter. And why can't justice be upheld. Ppl against it mocked Shivling , but did you see Hindus coming out on streets and rioting. Why can't the peaceful community take some ownership of something. Well so much mayhem but Nupur is responsible, law and order is weak, police is incompetent, police is brutal, etc etc. Even if Nupur said what she said the way they are rioting, it is not justified. FOE is for every citizen, doesn't matter she is from ruling party. When Munnawar farooqi mocked Hindu God's did you see something of this scale. In today's time lot of people are not close to the religion but there is a large difference in Muslim and other religions on how much people follow their religion. And, whenever they will learn something from their religion, it is going to be the most important lesson. You can't just discard such things by you being not close to the religion. Spirituality is different from religion and, people don't follow spiritualism especially Muslims. I think she was talking about Prophet Muhammad's marriage to Aisha, who was believed to be underage. The Quran specifically says that he married her at age 6, and consummated the marriage when she was 9 years old. I don’t know why the host watered down the info about her age, I mean, the exact age is written in the Quran itself.
