- In this episode we take a deep dive into what specific parts of #NCERT textbooks were removed, what these changes mean, and why they matter. Some changes to the reality of why Godse killed Gandhi have been removed which makes us wonder what children will learn at school. We also saw Arnab Goswami cheer as we found that the NCERT has made key changes to political science and history textbooks when it comes to Mughals and Islamic rulers - a story broken by the Indian Express. Certain chapters and parts related to #mughalempire were removed from these books, which led Arnab to ask why anybody would even want to know about them?
We also take a look at what the official and unofficial spokespersons of the governing party have said about the Mughals in the past. While Arnab was finding innovative ways to take a dig at the 'Innndian' Express, the internet was flooded with memes and cartoons.

The worst part is that they've deleted some parts out of the book and didn't even enlisted them.
I've bought ncert books to start my upsc preparation and unfortunately some of them are rationalized ones. Now I thought it's ok, I will add the old one's myself by looking at the list ncert had released for the changed syllabus, but now I got to know that they've ommited some of them and didn't enlisted it, it's a headache and actually irritated me. If they've deleted it why aren't they've informed the public about all the deletions, they should never have rationalized the book at all, they should have just given iut the list that ehat topics and chapters they want to exclude from the syllabus and are not meant to be studied by students whose studies are affected by the covid 19. And come on man, they've not even added a new chapter about and hinfu ruler, just ommited some sentences and names from here and there.
Looks like they are not interested in actually helping the students. Not just this, school students are compelled to buy new books as literally some words and sentences are omitted from here and there in the whole book, while some who can't afford it used to rely on second hand books. And neet and jee students are also affected by it.
Looks like this change have increased the headache of all types of students rather than easing them.

Mughal empire is a Myth. It was all Modi Empire and Modi Dynasty. That is why the rulers during the so called 'Mughal Empire' called themselves Modi I, Modi II, Sha I, Modi III, Modi IV etc... We finally did justice to history and art (esp. Drama).

And ask today's student the name of Mughal emperor

I don't know how messed up NCERT is but in south, we read about Gupta Dynasty avidly (we had two chapters plus one about Ashoka). We have the damn word INVASION when we read about Babur and his cannons. Our curriculum doesn't always glorify the Mughals but also mentions the bad things that Mughals did. Unfortunately for you we know that Gandhi joined the freedom movement only in 1930. We read about Lal-Bal-Pal. We have a chapter about Bose. So if North India history books are books are fucked up know that I am not the one to be ashamed but the concerned people. However, if one has such an interest in history, they could read it now. I for myself, regarded as a dry subject and was interested in European history which is more relevant in our current times. In short everything that happened before 1800 or so is of less important. Harkening to those ancient histories is happening only to awake the ghosts that makes gains for people and in the will cause a holocaust.
When it comes to north east, I strongly feel like India doesn't need NE-ppl but just NE-lands (because of the minerals) and also as the buffer lands between China. I abhor the very concept of using people like that but India is not all good as Indians believe to be.

You can see the students going abroad for studies increasing every year. Content is one of the things we have to look at when it comes to increasing the standard of education in India. 🙏 Please don't politicize education as it is going to affect our own kids only 😢😢

I am from ICSE. From our Hindi syllabus, they removed a story called "Jamun Ka Ped" that was a political satire.
Heyyy it was also in icse. Frankly when they deleted I was happy because load Kam hogaya. But now I m against it.

Love it or hate it, but these Mughal architecture are a masterpiece and truly ahead of their time. History is always a mixture of Dark and light. In NCERT History books both in modern and Medieval many incidents are super highlighted where some other importants characteristics or personalities have got a maximum one para, one liner or one word mention. It is true that Mughals have dark chapters but there contribution in many areas (e.g art and architecture, certain rulers administration) cannot be overlooked. At the same time we must have learned more about Shivaji or Prithviraj, Ahom dynasty. Modern Indian history have only mentioned the name of a few freedom fighters without even minute details where some are not mentioned like Binay Badal Dinesh, Arabinda Ghosh, Khudiram Bose, Matangini Hazra, Desh Bandhu Chttaranjan. There were a dozen reknowned Social reformer of that time but a many are not mentioned (no I am not saying detail, but just the name). My personal feeling after reading Modern History was Netaji is less mentioned when Gandhi ji is considered to be the only person for whom we got our freedom. If Mughals are striked out then many other require changes too.
I am neither in support or in oppose of this video. But one thing I must agree with you -- we do learn every good or bad from our leaders ideologies. Hence alteration of chapters could have been done more carefully and more vigorously of it was intended to happen in such way.

I am sorry but I really feel there should be a basic qualification for the politicians, like their ideology regarding other religions is truly concerning. When I was in 7th grade in 2020 we were taught about the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughals and trust me that chapter is really interesting they contributed a lot to our Indian history removing them is like removing an era.

Hi, miss intellectual. I want to say that after passing out my boards, I learned about the ahom dynasty,chola dynasty Kushan empire and all that but never in school. What I did learn was the glamorous Mughals from nearly class 4 to 9. Regarding Hindu emperors like Ashoka, we had only 1 chapter that to was reduced and made no appearance in the later courses. Talking about the south indian empire ,the chapters were reduced to such extent that we only had to study 2 to 3 pages.Our books have shown muhammad as a god guy then explain about aisha , the battles he fought and slave trade .
Ahom , chola ,maurya , these dynasty never being thought to us .

The more recent the civilisation is, the more sources you have, the easier the historians can verify its validity and the more confident the ministry of education would be about, including it in history books, that is if we follow logic but i doubt they followsuch reasoning tbh. Mughals were the rulers of Indian before the Brits. Are u telling me it makes sense to mention ancient local civilisation like Indus Valley will help Indian students understand the India they live in today? Learning about Ancient Egyptian for example is fun but would learning about a 7000 year old civilisation help anybody understand Egyptian society today, not really.
