I really hope this work out for them! So many people are reacting negatively to not having actual animations on the characters, but that is a LOT of work that would increase the development time greatly... This cannot be a Larian/Owlcat competitor. Being its own thing at least gives it some breathing room (and makes any eventual modding/expansion work easier). I'm just excited about finally getting PF2e digitally represented.
This does seem to be the exact opposite direction that Owlcat would go. 30 hours, level cap of 8, and (so far) no major side systems. Not that I have anything against Owlcat's sort of maximalism, but Ossian does seem to be working outside Owlcat's shadow. I'm hoping Ossian sticks with their more manageable scale and puts a lot of care into each encounter.
I agreed. I do hope they don't overreach themselves. They are small and should start and finish small. Once this project is successful, then and only then can they think of improving themselves further for greater games, just like Owlcat did.
There is a lowlevel DLC campaign without sidestuff for Wrath of the Righteous, but it was rather poorly recieved if i remember correctly. Though in that one you're more of a bunch of survivors and often better off avoiding conflict than a "powerful" adventurer party.
I've already seen something I like. Verticality. You can see imps and a mage floating in the air, which is awesome and something you didn't see in the Owlcat games and only to some extent in Larian's. So far the only game that has done that properly is Solasta.
I absolutely respect the "I don't endorse Kickstarters" policy, but I have to admit this is one of the games I'm most curious about. (And I'm including AAA games in that comparison!) If this does end up looking like it's going to release, you should definitely do an abridged "how to play Pathfinder 2e for Pathfinder 1e/D&D 5e players" style video.
The tabbletop style with the realistic environment is reaallllyyy making all giggling inside! I loveee this style.. feel like playing my tabletop outside in the grass,!!
Yes! I'm actually really curious about it! I could be down with minimally animated combat with markers... kind of like XCOM but with goblins and swords!! If they did that style of combat but with cartoon style cut scenes it could make a really cool and fresh style of game. I'm kind of excited to see it!
Pf2e is going to be a tough nut to crack as a CRPG. A lot of the old school audience are not going to be impressed by the D&D 4e influences in the game. Those wanting to make OP characters are going to be unhappy cause Pf2e is not that type of system.
This is great! I'm not bummed about the minis and lack of animation, because I play actual tabletop games with friends sometimes, so I'm used to just using my imagination. Plus, if they open this up to mods/give us a toolkit, the potential to make our own campaigns would be insanely customizable. I'm not sure I'll back it myself, but really interested if this all pans out!

I'm surprised, I thought it would be a more tactical combat-focused game, it's good to hear that side stories and companion content are in the works. When I heard Owlcat was not making it I imagined it would be way more combat-centric without a story, companions, and the fleshed-out setting we are used to. The minis are also charming and could be done well, I'm hopeful for this game now.

the concept of the game is good to me, however the mini thing isn't something i can see myself enjoying.
is there any information on why owlcat ISNT developing this game after their WILDLY successful attempt on the last 3 games?
They are working on other things, but they remain open to the possibility of more in the future
Interesting enough to try at least. Seems cool. Any idea if they co-op in the works?
No idea

I'm getting Moonbreaker vibes.
It seems like an odd one.
Looks more like a showcase for a Pathfinder VTT.
Did Owlcat or Paizo mention something like that?
This isn't a VTT, but Paizo already partners with the developers of multiple VTT systems (e.g. Fantasy Grounds, FoundryVTT, Roll20, AlchemyVTT, no doubt others that I'm not aware of).
I am always down for some stylize game but I hope there is more movement. Even if they do not interact I hope for the units to be animated for actions.
Well, this definitely looks interesting & if it comes out I will definitely give it a look. It's just a shame it's 2e. Every time I see 2e I get a little disappointed realizing that someone spent time on that thing when they could have been spending time on something for 1e.
