This guy knows what he's talking about, pretty much everyone else gets the ratios wrong. Use all parts to calculate. 3-1 at 12.5%. Divide the sh by total parts. 12.5/4=3.125 give or take a few hundredths for different model pressure washers. Great content man!
I’ve spent a week watching videos from many guys on house washing. Finally a video explaining the main methods and their strength limitations and thus need for the next method, and doing so briefly.
I currently use software or Xjet. I don't do any commercial work. Made up a jug so the suction hose never leaves the bottom of the tank and if it tips over it does not dump out. So this way, it is really easy to move the container around. It is a 7-gallon water jug with a large carry handle.
Really appreciate the no hype, just the facts delivery of information. I'm gearing to launch my business next spring, and I'm sure I'll be watching a lot more of your videos.
If the x - jet pulls at a 3:1 ratio, using your formula you mentioned for the downstream injector. 12.5 / 3= 4.16 So will the Xjet actually be closer to a 4% mix? I’m still learning all of this. Thanks so much for these videos.
While watching this video an xjet modification idea popped into my head (not sure if it would work), but what if you configured/installed the xjet at the same place you would put the down stream injector. That way you wouldnt have to carry around a bucket. Would it possibly draw the same ratio? Obviously youd have to throw together some nipples/fittings and quick connects to make this possible. May be worth a shot
It would not be possible to draw the same ratio because one of the reasons your able to get a hot mixture with an Xjet is due to placement. The X-jet is at the gun/wand which means is barley mixing with any water. If you out it at the reel, its going to have 100-250ft of water through your hose line its going to mix with.
Question for you Austin Do you have a recommendation for high level of cold weather climates states to do this business year round or seasonal only let me know what you think....
Great video! I appreciate all that you do for the pressure washing community. I started last year and have been using an xjet the entire time. I have tried to swap to a downstream injector, but when I tried to connect the down stream injector to my pump, I noticed that the threads were different. I bought a 4gpm GX390 pressure washer with a CAT industrial triplex pump and it came with a downstream injector, but I read that I should not use it. When I took it off, the thread is different and I can't connect my new downstream injector to the pump. I have tried to take the barb off the old downstream injector and plug it and just put the new downstream injector on after it, but I could not find the right plug for it either. What do you recommend that I do? I would really like to start downstreaming.
Please tell me if I’m wrong but if needed a stronger pull “downstream injector” can’t one buy a downstream injector with a bigger orifice? Thanks in advance!
Question: we have been using ads injector for years, and out go to mix, is 2 gallons of sh, + 3 gallons water+ 2 oz surfactant. Most of what we clean is vinyl, going to a 50/50 mix, for hard to clean houses… you’re saying I should be drawing straight bleach 12.5% with my pressure?
Great INFORMATIVE content. you helped me understand ratio, chemical mixing and the difference between a downstreamer X-Jet, pump. Soft washing in general. that was the thing i thought i would struggle most with. what surface cleaners do you recommend???
Hey Austin I'm getting started on my journey do I need to batch mix while using an xjet to achieve 4-5-6% or do you recommend straight bleach in a 5 gallon bucket and is it even possible to achieve those % using an xjet
Hey Austin, quick question. Isn’t there only certain pressure tips that can pull from a downstream injector? If so what are they. Love your content keep up the hard work.
Great video, sets me on the road. Can I ask you for the best chemical to put on moss on tarmac and the best technique. I only bought an x Jet yesterday..We in Ireland are covered in moss !! Great opening to make money.

Most of the homes in my area are less that 4000 sqft, what size solution tank would you recommend for a 50/50 6% batch mix? thx really appreciate your channel.
I don't get it, downstreamer let the chemical (that is bad) through hose etc, and x-jet is better ? because it only is at the end of the gun connected ? am i right or did i missunderstood, because i just saw connection on amazon and the design said so, thanks

I am starting a pressure washing business this Spring amd I did my parents driveway to practice in the Fall. I noticed after I finished it there were lines from the surface cleaner. I heard I should post treat it. Is that just with Bleach? Also how long should I leave it on before rinsing?
Yes, i had this same problem when i started last summer. I've used just the downstream injector with 10% bleech from walmart, and i let it sit for around like 10 minutes and it worked really well.
Each downstream injector device has a orface rating and gpm rating so you match the device to your pump and engine. a orface of 1.8 will deliver a rate of 20 percent.. each device has specs that you can dial in..your not stuck at 10 percent chemical feed rate. fyi...
A 1.8 injector on a 4-5 GPM will pull 2% mix of 12.5 SH and 1.66% mix of a 10.5% SH. A 2.1 injector 1.25% and 1% and X-jet can pull a 1.6:1 ratio just don’t put a orifice adjuster let it pull straight threw the barb orifice

You use 12.5% bleach. The Downstream Injector pulls at a 1:10 rate, then there are 11 parts. Dividing by 10 is close, but really you're dividing by 11. For every gallon of 12.5%, you're also getting 10 gallons of 0%, for a total of 11 gallons at an average of 12.5 / 11 = 1.14%
