This is why you are now my favorite car channel. Real down to earth people, working on real cool cars. In my opinion JD'S 59 Ford was the coolest looking car at the show. What is really great is that JD worked on so many aspects of the build, he can truly say he helped built, and paint the car.
Such an epic journey! So good to see you guys driving. That looked like all kind of fun. My favorite part was how you guys were remapping the injectors with blooming onion and dipping sauce!
23:25 You nailed it right there. I absolutely LOVED to drive my '72 ford or one of my Torinos at night. I would just jump in the car and drive and listen to the sound of the tires and the drone of the engine and enjoy the feel of my vehicle. I was in a happy place in my own personal space. Sometimes it is riding with someone else in an older car, I remember when the old mechanic took me on a test drive one night in the '75 Gran Torino he sold me in '99. That test drive while listening to his various stories while we flew down the interstate and various backroads is a test drive I'll never forget. The really memorable drives always seem to be at night. When I was working late night shift retail in the late '90s at 18/19 years old I would sometimes just go drive on my lunch break at night in my '72 Ford. Just cruising at night with 8 cylinders........there really is nothing else like it.
Dalton...I tell ya You are now my #1 car channel to watch!!! Your "Real World, Real Deal" Mechanic Guy!!! Your Content Is a Learning Experience, Doubters Fuel Your Motivation Just Like I Was Back In The Day!!! Keep Up The Great Real World Stuff!! Oh and J.D. Is An Awesome Mechanic!!! Great running into you, definitely looks like you had one HECK of a weekend! That Holey Goat is one heck of a machine, there's not many rides we see barreling down the road that are even sketchier than OUR kind of sketchy! ;)
I bet you guys had a blast! Just driving around and being goofy is such a joy. Seriously people, do a cruise, a fun rally or any local event in any darn thing and just go have a ball! You don't need a million bucks to have fun.

You sure are a role model for your son! I used to say „if my grandpa can’t fix it no one can“. Your son‘s gonna laugh at anyone stating something’s not fixable and say „my dad can fix anything no matter how bad it is“. 💪
Video is great. I laughed out load at the end when JD said "How dare you!" it was great to meet you guys and im glad you guys made it, you were pretty wiped out by the time you stopped here.
Epic journey! I had just seen JD’s Ford in the background of Dylan McCool’s video when the email came up that you posted this! JD has a real future as a race car owner - just needs a better driver! You are right - gotta drive it to failure and fix it or live scared. I’m looking my evil ‘41 Plymouth straight in the eye and taking it out tomorrow! Carry on, gentlemen!
@@PoleBarnGarage Well, I drove it to and from my last car show of the season today and determined that at 55MPH, without a cool down stop, the clutch slips and eventually smokes and stops forward progress at 32 miles, which is exactly the distance from my house to the show.....SUCCESS!!!
Being a Pontiac guy and the Father of James Hartwick of Hartwick Performance, I felt a bit out of place at Ford Fest. But as I stood in front of Godzilla I believe the distinctive cadence of a Pontiac V8 made me turn to see the Holey Goat rumble by. It nearly made me weak in the knees! I love Fords, but the danger of having them Exclusively all in one place makes even the most radical fox body etc, seem almost commonplace. The Holey Goat can never understand that word. Lol It was great to meet you and JD. I sorta saw my Son and I as older versions of you guys. It doesn't even matter if JD decides later cars aren't his thing (hush my mouth) these are forever memories with Dad. Great job all around. Hope to see you guys out and about again!
That was an epic trip. Tell JD he done an awesome job on the 59. It was great getting to see the Holey Goat and getting to race the Goat against Candy Kane. After you left the No Name Nationals I did manage to oil down the whole right lane by sending a rod threw my oil pan in the 402. Glad you finished the trip without any serious issues. Great Video Dalton.. until we meet again..
That's so great you guys went that far. Makes you feel young again to just take off on a trip like this. With a desire to travel tools and parts in the trunk. Adventure here we come. Congratulations. JD will be driving soon. Big ups to you all.
Dalton, Both those cars look real nice going down the roads, I'd take a pic of both of them as I blew past in my Old's... .. Mobile. Good job, Great Trip, Good going Guys. Awesome Memories. be safe too.

The video turned out to be a 10 out of ten Dalton. The '59 is quite a stunner in the color scheme chosen and again I'm green with envy. There had been a '59 for sale in my town on a 'rip-off' price gouge lot for several months that I drove past and so desperately wanted to own. Unfortunately I hadn't the means to keep it safe from the harsh elements of Arizona sun baked summers and certainly not the first notion of how I would make it a runner as you have with JD's '59. Just to say here, I once owned a 1978 Cadillac Eldorado Barritz with a 425ci engine that had blown front and rear mains. The oil that blew out of the engine would coat the under belly of my beautiful Caddy to the point that every stop light she smoked mercilessly. [Embarrasingly] That went on for at least a year with the starter getting soaked in engine oil to the point where the starter couln't operate after awhile. All rebuilt starters didn't match up so I had the where with all mechanically then to disassemble the rebuit starter, remove the guts and place them in the original housing of the oil fouled starter after a clean up. I do miss my 'Dina' which she became known as for the fact she was a true dinasaur. A factory 8 track player did work and I had a Hank Williams tape that was always playing for road trips. I had a receiver attached to the frame in order to pull a short 15' Lo-Liner Aristcrat camp trailer and she did so with aplomb. Even over the 'Grapevine' of Interstae 5, in California when I left Long Beach and moved back home to the Bay Area up north (400 miles) with the Lo-Liner stuffed to the gills. So I'm quite familiar with a smokey under belly with a old worn engine as you encoutered on your 1,200 road trip. Great time for you all and your advice at the end is so on point, just do it!

My 16 year old grandson just found out how much fun it is to drive a 74 Scout with absolutely nothing but a driver floorboard and a core support for a body. He thinks it’s the coolest thing ever! He can’t wait for the 79 Pinto body to be re-homed on the Scout chassis. Thank goodness he isn’t into tuner cars, instead he is in love with his 82 c10 Silverado. Make his Grampy real proud!

Wow, these videos are getting better and better. You and your son are a perfect match to go into business together in restoring and having fun with the cars with you. I wish every parent could give the love and support you give to your son. Thanks for treating him the old school way, rolling up the sleeves, getting things done and having fun in the process. Plus, all these skills he's learning is great but independence and confidence is key to success. Your son is learning to be a healthy well balanced person who believes in himself, awesome!!!
I never doubted that 390. I’ve seen them run and run good with hardly no compression. We would have to pull it off to get up enough compression to run. The starter wouldn’t spin it fast enough
I love make vehicles do what everyone thinks they won’t. My 79 c10 when I bought it the owner told me the motor is junk, don’t even try to get it going it’s trash, I took it home cleaned the sludge out of the motor and I’m still driving it today.
You got a try the bourbon barbecue Vienyas. It was great to meet you guys.

Driving at night with saxophone music is a perfect recipe for unity with the universe
I never doubted that 390. I’ve seen them run and run good with hardly no compression. We would have to pull it off to get up enough compression to run. The starter wouldn’t spin it fast enough
It's good to see a Pontiac and a Ford working together.
Cars are cars

I love make vehicles do what everyone thinks they won’t. My 79 c10 when I bought it the owner told me the motor is junk, don’t even try to get it going it’s trash, I took it home cleaned the sludge out of the motor and I’m still driving it today.
Nice
