    Simple Catagorization of the Verbs:
    - How you respond to wanting something (Ask / Take)
    - How you respond to someone else wanting something (Give / Refuse / Share)
    - How you respond to Receiving something (Receive)
    - Play
    Also worth noting that:
    - "Sharing" is a form of "Giving".
    - These are all words for the process of negotiation and transaction.
    - "Play" is a shared experience you agree upon (via explicit or implicit negotiation)

“It is a love based on giving and receiving as well as having and sharing. And the love that they give and have is shared and received. And through this having and giving and sharing and receiving, we too can share and love and have and receive.”

By making your mental health and personal growth a priority, you will heal much faster. I understand that this can be hard to do, especially if you have little ones to look after. However, if you do have little ones to look after, it’s even more crucial that you take care of yourself first. This is so you are fully able to take care of others.

My issue with asking is that, often times, if I have to ask for something, then I won't enjoy getting it anymore. I'd rather the person gives it to me on their own and not because I asked. So it's a dead end that I don't know how to counter.

interesting to have something I perhaps subconciously understood explained well. I was lucky to be raised well, and I realise that now. In those terms, I've always realised "my most difficult verb" is refuse - even in non-romantic interactions, if people need help I want to help them, but sometimes later when there's no time for the things I actually need to have done or wanted to do, I get a bit frustrated. It's OK to say "I can't help you with that right now, but maybe later" if you really have to for your own good, and that's something I have to keep reminding myself of.

🙌🙌Hey Anna or whoever uploads for Anna! Just a Heads-up, There is a Spelling mistake in the Thumbnail Text, it says "SIMPE" instead of "SIMPLE", incase this was not intentional, which it doesn't seem like it is, I thought I'd point it out since you are always in my recommended since I started watching last week and I love your videos, already changing my everyday habits!

    • @Dianah8er

To take is to allow yourself to go after what you want (allow yourself to go forward). To receive is to allow others to give to you (allow others to go towards you).

  • @AnonymousOnimous
    @AnonymousOnimous Рік тому +1

I think this holds true for any kind of relationship - even our professional relationships with jobs. It's difficult to find the balance between ourselves and our responsibilities.
I'm volunteer for two organizations to build up my resume.
One organization is massive, internationally renown, and 90% volunteer run. As a result, it's staff are over worked and have too little time to organize volunteers, so the organization's rules and structure end up being constricting.
The second organization is small, local, and has a relatively high percentage of staff. As a result, they're responsive, flexible, and have plenty of time and wear-with-all to welcome and support volunteers.
In the time I spend for the first organization, I typically feel unappreciated and put-upon. Five months ago, I pitched a project to them that could address several key issues. They gave me the green light, but the staff had too little time to pay attention to my progress reports and requests. So only when I submitted it for a final review did they tell me the organization's structure would never allow them to use my project. This is only one of several broken promises from them.
The second organization's work and structure means I get to do exactly what I want with them with hardly any prep-work. Consistently, I get to feel like what I'm doing is benefiting people and the planet. I'm appreciated and respected.
You'd think it'd be simple to walk away from an organization that doesn't treat you well. But just like romance in media often teaches us unhealthy lessons about relationships, we have the same thing happening with our cultural narratives around work/jobs/career. That, especially when you're starting out, you have to accept terrible bosses, crappy working conditions, sacrifice sleep, health, and relationships. We expect to be taken advantage of at work, it's part of how capitalism functions. You just hope you get a job that's better than the others.
Not necessarily good, kind, and worth-while. Just better than the others.
We know we're not supposed to accept that from our romantic relationships.
But I think most of us are still telling ourselves we have to accept that from our professional ones.
