VW became aware of the issue and came out with the updated tensioner in 2013 so if you have a 2013 you'll want to check which version have. You can call a dealership and have them tell you based on your VIN.
I have a 2012 VW beetle turbo 2.0 T. When i put my VIN unto their website it was stated that my vehicle was not one involved in the recall even though other models of the sane year was recalled and got the updated tensioner. Does anyone know why some models were recalled and some were not?
I wonder why VW didn’t recall these vehicles to fix this issue. My 2010 VW Eos engine got destroyed by this after 40,000kms and 12 years. No class action in Australia.
Good question. Probably not enough people complaining about it and it doesn’t happen for a long time after. They know there is a problem or they wouldn’t have updated the tensioner.
These motors are completely trash for the multiple issues that plague these vehicles. There's nothing like over-engineering something and not being able to keep a motor running in a half-ass Manor... Even the new motors have the same issues
What resources do you use for rebuilding the 2.0 tsi cct
Alldata and Mitchell on demand for most vehicles
wow thanks this helped !
No problem, thanks for the comment!

Yes, model year 2014 up have updated one.
@@motorcarnutI got a new engine in 2015 due to the recall on oil consumption. So it should have the new pump?
@seemaab I would think so
What mileage should you change it before this happens ? I have one at 70k
Immediately, I have 4 of these right now in the shop the lowest mileage is 54k, the tensioners can strip out at any time unfortunately.

Your engine is definitely effected if it's the 2.0 turbo TSI
Please what is the longth of the tensioner that we can say ok
Don’t know what you mean but just buy a new tensioner from dealer they are all updated.
It doesn’t matter the length of the tensioner it just matters whether it’s the updated model or not

They are not that bad, most problems are owner neglect
