For every one rotation of the crankshaft, there will be half a rotation of the camshaft, not two rotations. Btw, I've had the first revision chain tensioner resulted in, yea you guessed it, me doing an engine rebuild with 16 new valves+++. I did a belt rebuild once before after interfere, but never chain. Thank's to you I got the insight needed to see what's over, under, behind, besides, you got what I mean! What I trying to say is thanks to you the rebuild was an easy task. But of course I'm an mechanic, so don't try to duplicate this if your work is to study an computer screen all day long 😂😂

Correct, I said it backwards on mistake I meant to say one rotation of camshaft is 2 rotations of crankshaft. Thanks for catching that

Your videos gave me confidence to overhaul my own 2.0 tfsi engine on my 2011 A5. I redid all . New pistons (with OEM rings ) and new con rods 23mm pin . New main and con rod bearings . All new timing chain . New valves and overhaul head. All worked out thanks to your videos . So much help 👍 thanks for a good channel and good videos

I felt like back handing whoever approved low tension oil rings. I wondered why I couldn't find a video of pinning this tensioner. Now I know that it's as big of a pain as I suspected. Tbh I just pulled the old one out and let it fly across the garage when I replaced mine. I never thought about spinning the engine backwards

you can remove the cam tray without pinning the tensioner. i've done it many times, you just have to be careful not to touch the cams when scraping the old gasket material off the head in order to reseal the cam tray.

Hey,so my A4 had the p0016 code and I replaced the timing belt and retimed the engine but the issue it never fixed the problem. The car also shakes when I step on gas and it reaches 20mph. Is my crankshaft bursted, any tricks?

WOW awesome I gotta say a couple of things 1. Thanks for sharing this one, I’ve been waiting for you to post the way to pin this for over a year. And 2. I’m very proud that of all the cam trays I have done I think 4 or 5 now I’ve pinned it that way but I would have the GF use the pry bar to push against the tensioner guide after i took off cam bridge , but I’d collapse the spring with knipex and once she pushed in the plunger I’d pin it , so I have never went CCW on the motor.. then I’d mark the TDC links (like you mentioned) and verify with cylinder 1 with 1/4 extension and then take caliper measurements to double check in time measurements.. yeah mostly to reseal cam tray but I had a broken rocker too once I replaced .. I even tie wrapped the chain to keep everything in place and used the cam lock tools just to keep them from spinning until I needed to take the chain off the sprockets.. dude your commentary is so well translated to because of how well you show a detail your videos.. so happy to have finally seen this one.. glad you’re cranking out some B8 content again 👍🏻

The marks can wear off the timing chain. So even if you took the chain off to you might not have the marks you need. If you did want to verify timing, you can mark the chain yourself. I had the link counts wrote down somewhere but you could use a picture of the timing chain for reference. Then paint the links to confirm the timing is on or off. The pictures i referenced did match the timing marks of the actual chain.

Bought a 2015 A5 Cabriolet, Seller stated that the car had issues to turn on / accelerate because it needed new Catalytic converter. Got the new cat on it, problem is still going.
It cranks but won’t turn on.. sometimes it does and it can be driven around but has issues to accelerate and shakes a lot.
Mechanic said it might be timing chain..

Hi, I have Audi A4 B8 and I have a problem. When I accelerate my car from stationary up to gear 5, I could feel or hear some minor vibration or knocking noise which seem to come from underneath the car. There is no check engine light. I have changed front and rear shock absorbers as well as all the tires. The problem persists. Please advise. Thanks.

Good afternoon. I love your videos. Thank you for all your help. I have a 2012 Q5 with the oil consumption issue. I found a complete engine out of a 2015. Is the 2015 2.0 engine comparable with my 2012?

What is your opinion on the B12 piston soak to loosen up the rings? Seems to have blown up as a 'solution' this year on the 2.0 with a lot of success stories

Doing this can cause more harm then good especially for guys who have never delt with timing these 888s. Just go ahead and use zip tie method instead if your only objective is to reseal the cam cradle.
