Repairing Broken Window Defroster Tabs with Solder!

- First time I've tried this and I have to say it works! I've messed with those metallic glues in the past but they never seemed to work right and conduct electricity when cured. As long as the metallic layer is still present on the glass, you can solder these tabs right back to the window!

The perfect video I needed. My defroster tab came off the other day on my 02 suburban
Just did this fix a month ago right before our last snow storm. I need to do the struts on the rear glass too. Keep it up. Subbed!!!
4 piston is 2020+
Never had an issue with the large dual piston
100k subscribers congrats on that!!😊
The rear wiper hose wraps around the mount so it doesnt get pinched, also looks better
Patiently waiting to find out how to add BT to my 07. Just found a way to use a tablet that has no gps as a working android auto head unit. Plan to just ad BT and pair the tab with it, and have the tab auto connect to hotspot and open car play once the bt connects from my phone. So far it works great.
Usually the stuff that comes in a box that looks like it’s from the 90s is the good stuff
Keep restoring it
Great video
Both of the ‘07 tahoes Ive had broke the defrost wire. I fixed it exactly the same way and only had to do it once. It’s like they just had cold soldier joints or something.
Glad to see a somewhat dedicated video on this issue. Fortunately the wires haven't came off in my Trailblazer as I'm a bit rough on the back glass. Speaking of the back glass my struts also need to be replaced. Can't believe my local junkyard wants $33 for 2 when they are brand new for $25 each.
perfect, I was trying to figure out how to do this.
Should do a video on third brake light on modding it so it lights up across very annoying it only lights up in the middle.
Had this issue with my 07 Denali. The tabs are still holding up good on my 01 Tahoe tho
Please do the four piston brakes I wanna do them on mine
Great Job, and really solid Job, with Tab defrost. 👍👍👍👍,
I have tried my one few time, I'm wasn't successful as U, ❤
I have an 87 Fiero just sold my 02 Tahoe and picked up a 2007 escalade. Pretty similar setup as you. Im doing the same thing to this escalade now that I did to my tahoe. Replce every single part over a 5 year period and then sell it for way less than I have into it, lol. In struggling with getting 13 mpg in the city. Im going to do a full tune up and tune to try to save some cash. Or I'll get a big heavy boat to make use of this 6.2.
I need to do this same fix on mine
Rear shocks? Now that the fronts are done.
How about the fluids? Trans/brake/coolant/transfer/diff.
You must come up with a name for the Cadi its only right 😎
Saw on your board it says hot oil pressure issues. Just curious what pressure are you seeing? my 08 hummer h2 with the l92 is about 22 at idle when hot and after getting off the highway it’ll be right at 20 at idle. When towing it can be as low as 18 after coming to a stop. Engine has no issues and has always been this way 138k miles
I heard they would shatter after a while after soldering I hope it’s not true tho
2inch drop and build the engine, thing would be sweet.
What solder iron you used? I tried to do this repair and I couldn't get it hot enough to stick it.
Matt, are you going to do the big brake upgrade for the fronts using the 2019 and up 4 piston calipers and 13.5” rotors?
Most likely
@@lsXmattI have a brand new set of takeoff GM calipers and rotors you can have if you pay for shipping from Wisconsin.
You show the Caddy some love and she is being nice to you 😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Makes me wanna work on thiiiiiiiing 😂
Those are the worst design in a rear defroster ever. Especially in a lift gate. There is no reason they couldn't have just stayed with the spring loaded plunger style connectors
