Qigong to Boost Immunity and Lower Stress - Zhan Zhuang - Natural Medicine for Immune Health

  • Build immunity and clear stress with this simple beginner's Qigong routine. Whether facing a pandemic, or just a regular cold and flu season, one of the best ways we can keep our immune systems strong is to lower our stress and build up our energy, and that is what makes Qigong such good preventative medicine. Many Qigong practitioners find that regular practice means that when they do catch an illness it tends to be less severe and not last as long.
    For the curious and/or skeptical (skepticism is welcome here), there are several studies showing that Qigong practice may help the body to produce more immune cells, and may even make those cells more potent, among a number of other health benefits:

    Have been practicing for three weeks now. What a difference it has made in my energy, outlook and breathing. Have had both knees replaced over a year ago.Since then I have struggled with nerve damage in my left leg. Now it seems to be gradually improving where PT has left me until now. Thank you. I will continue.

    Hello Nick, I turn on my tv just to do my daily qigong exercises and I stumbled on your channel and did this qigong exercise with you and I love the calming sound of your voice.
    Four years ago I was really really sick and I found qigong exercises and since then I have been doing qigong exercises. It helps me to heal my body's ailments. You're my addiction to my other wonderful Qigong teacher. The thing with your qigong is that the background you choose is also healing the sound of nature. It's amazing! Thank you ❤️😊🙏🏼

    I remember when I took my classes we were taught this as well. These movements are also known as the “spiritual flu shot.” Building up that natural immunity!

  • @cacciato69
    @cacciato69 Рік тому +2

    As is sometime the case a spiritual result emerges from a persistent practice of qi gong. Zhan zhuang done daily with these warmup stimuli has quieted spirit dramatically. Emerging from the ZZ postures is capped by the centering closure. Standing like a tree ( i was a forest scientist) for up to 20 min is a wake up exercise!

    i am a long time tai ji / qigong player. This video has been very useful as I seem to have developed tendonitis. Two minor comments 1 the first warm up feels like the crunch should be a short plosive exhale, so I let that happen. 2 as the tendonitis has been painful I am doing a much longer zhan zhuang portion. The 5 basic stances with deeper ma bu for stance 3 and 4 each stance 3 min. ex: the standing tree which I do 6 min. The final closing practice finds electric / ribbons slidding down my raised arm and a pause at willow leaf hand. Much appreciation this has helped me tremendously.

    • @cacciato69
      @cacciato69 Рік тому

      the warm ups have increased my awareness of electric buzz in all parts of my body. This is now a stable part of my qigong !! It appears to have cured my tendonitis. Great video!

    Thank you for the great practice opportunities! Loving all your videos, and the nature background and appreciate that there is no music (gives you a chance to choose yourself if you want any). Please, if possible, could you describe more in details how to direct the breath or how to imagine the movement of the breath while standing in Zhang Zhuang?

    • @TheNickLoffree
      @TheNickLoffree  4 роки тому +2

      You're welcome! And thanks for the feedback on the music, that was my thinking as well.
      The breath in standing meditation should move towards the lower abdomen, without the feeling that you are forcing it. It should feel fairly relaxed and natural, and if you can only get it to the solar plexus level or ribs at first, that is fine - you will have to train it gradually over time to go lower without force. Great question!

    Glad I tried this, it worked! But I have a question about the kind of energy this workout enhances. I did "flowing breeze swaying willow" after this exercise yesterday and today and the usual spontaneous "swaying" movements were really fast. It was funny, like a modern dance at double speed 😂 It has only happened after doing this set. Is it the yan energy building or what is happening? Should I call a priest or a shaman 😂 or both to be sure 😂😂

    • @TheNickLoffree
      @TheNickLoffree  19 днів тому +2

      Yes, zhan zhuang tends to build up extra Yang energy, which you might notice in swaying. Keep it balanced with meditation (simple mindfulness, not alchemy or visualization stuff).

    Thanks for the videos Nick! I like your style. I've been doing QG for several months now. I have always been able to feel QI around my body, but haven't felt it drop into the Dan Tien. My niece said I should be able to feel it drop. Your thoughts?

    • @TheNickLoffree
      @TheNickLoffree  3 роки тому

      Thanks! Great question. This is a common misconception. The Qi actually takes a long time to sink to the Tan Tien. Most people won't feel anything there until they've done a lot of practice. First, the breath and awareness have to sink there. Eventually the Qi follows, but it can't be rushed or forced or you will wind up with the opposite effect (qi rising up to the head, usually). Have patience!

    • @TheNickLoffree
      @TheNickLoffree  2 роки тому

      Ya, if it is involuntary it can mean the Qi is starting to move through your sinew channels. Sometimes it’s because we are too collapsed in our posture though too, so as long as you are holding correct alignment then swaying is a good sign.
