    I had the 1979 MGB with Union Jack decals on the sides in that same yellow, as a teen, in high school. Great car, ran most of the time, and one day I came out of school and Miss Teen Texas was sitting on the side of the hood asking for a ride home.

    I love Rye, my Father lived at Iden for about ten years when he was between 9 and 19. It was a family farm and he helped his brothers deliver milk to their customers in Rye with a pony and trap. I spent many days in Rye and Iden when I was young and always love going there.

    Hay mate I know you Brits are not used to the warm weather, well in Aus 30 degrees is considered a warm day , but yes 20-25 is the best riding weather. I found anything over around 33 degrees stats to become uncomfortable. A few summers ago we had 8 days over 40 ( WAY TO HOT TO RIDE ) great engine the V4 in the Ducati . In the hot weather mate get a small camel back , as you can drink as you ride if required.apparently you haven’t had a very good summer. Come to Australia for ours coming up mate 👍

      @@davidhall2298…. What GS do you have? I have a Bonny T120 and love it but wanted something larger for trips. What size GS do you have? I found a 2022 1250GS that I loved and almost bought, but it was just so large that I couldn’t see myself using it for anything other than longer trips. I wanted something smaller than 1250GS but still adventure bike platform. I did a test ride on a new F750GS. Ended up buying it. After adding full wind protection, I fell in love with the bike. It did take me some time to get comfortable with the larger size but after a couple months I can maneuver the GS and whip it around as well as my T120 and there’s no doubt that I feel a little safer on highways and interstates on the GS.

    • @davidhall2298

      @@WilliamWBG It is a 1250. I’ve had it for 4 years & just returned from Norway. Was by far the best bike to do that trip on, but I’ve scratched that itch & feel at 62 a cruiser going down to the UK coast would be easier for me. Am going on a test ride on a Scout tomorrow, so I’ll have a better idea.

If you've time be sure to skirt through County Galway, Galway City, Connemara and its capital Clifden and the lovely village Roundstone (drop into O'Dowdes for the Seafood Chowder) on your way up. Westport and Cong are well worth seeing as is a drive through the Inagh vally out past Kilemoor. Co's Mayo and Sligo will then take you up towards Donegal...the music and the welcome is/are not to be missed. You'll probably be glad of the Wrangler for its roof mind, the weather, even in August can be a shocker!...also be sure to sample the Guinness, (obvs), oysters a full Irish and a decent Irish Stew (not all at the same time). As a local, I fear you may be facing legal challenges after your description of the the Rother estuary as “turquoise” 😂
    You get a very low centre of gravity on the king of adventure bikes, the BMW GS range. Undisputed mile munching champion that you can live with year round. I know, because I do.

    Hi Freddie, great vid, Fiat was a 126 I think, Ducati is a beautiful bike however expensive and doesn’t seem to have the reliability I think you need for a tourer. I think I preferred the Honda Transalp you had previously. That said my favourite still sits with the classics ( and Modern) and the Triumph would win hands down. Are you looking to do another channel on the Wrangler adventures?

    • @FreddieDobbs
      @FreddieDobbs  2 місяці тому

      I should’ve known that was a 126!😳 I’ll keep everything on the same channel for the Wrangler adventures I think:)

      @FreddieDobbs as others, have said Freddie, these large adventure touring machines almost don't feel like motorcycles anymore. They have so much technology and rider assistance features that it removes that feel of riding we all love. That's why I love my rebel 500. It's simple, minimal technology, but modern as well. On a further note, technology wise, I really hope petrol powered motorcycles won't be banned in 2035 along with cars. I feel one of the biggest thrills of riding is that engine sound. From the reading I've done, it seems that they might be excempt due to the extremely low emissions they put out. Anyway, I'm rambling. Love, what you're doing, Freddie, keep up the good work, and remember, keep the rubber side down.

    Freddie , I was disappointed, I thought you might have gone for a swim in an Edwardian style bathing costume, knitted by Monikas' mum, complete with kisscurl hairstyle and a Kitchener style handlebar moustache.
    Ah well that's a different nightmare for another time!

    Seems like the ducati suffers from the same heat issues my honda nt1100 does. They have such excellent wind protection, you end up riding in a bubble of heat. My bike feels like riding on top of an oven set to 200 degrees with the door left open in summer. I’m not even riding it right now because of the unbearable heat.
