KTM 1290's , Can't wait for your review on them. :D In my personal opinion, the new crop of adventure bikes are all pretty great tourers and they have great performance. You mostly choose engine configuration and some small features.

One thing I have heard from Ducati v4 owners is that ducati has a low power ecu map on the bike until after the first service when they reflash it with the unrestricted version.
Great review, I had a KTM 1290, bmw s1000xr and 1250 GS. Next week I get my V4S. I think this is the best option for me. Relaxed seatposition and superb in handling and power.
Excellent detailed coverage. One thing that could be added is the measured wet weight for the bikes you're able to get your hands on. Manufacturers like to fudge these numbers by giving us dry weights, and the various accessories can greatly change the actual weight of the bike on the road. It would be great to see the true ready-to-ride weight.
I appreciate all of your videos. My weakness is motorcycles lol. I enjoy watching and learning about what’s new and the nuances of each. I used to subscribe to different motorcycle magazines but enjoy this platform more and yours is a standout because you’re honest and informative.
The DRL switch is for putting on the additional spots but if you only use a short push it puts the headlights out of auto night mode, Beware. As for the mpg after a year of riding I recon 170 miles is the no panic range, at that you will put in about 16l so still 6l spare and the gauge is very pessimistic once you get to that level. For me thats fine am old creaky and 3hrs in the saddle is all i want with out a leg stretch. My only complaint has been the onboard mapping with sygic system last year it was terrible but both bike and sygic software updates have dramatically improved its functionality. For anyone who thinks pah to radar I can assure you once tried you wonder why you would ever go back especially on those long main road runs it just makes it far more relaxing and give you more situational awareness as it reacts faster that you can.
I come from a former road racing/motocross/desert background. Never owned a Ducati before. Tried a Zero DSR and the reality of the current charging infrastructure moved me to decide to sell it after a few years of ownership. I now own a 2022 Ducati Multistrada V4S Sport model. I cannot stress enough how pleased I am with the bike. I know most talk about the radar and although the features it adds to this bike are remarkable, the Skyhook suspension is mind-bending to me. I've written a 14k-word piece about the bike for Web Bike World and could not be happier with my choice.
Rear brake mushiness was an issue on the last gen as well. Changing pads and bleeding them helped a little. They had a recall 1-2 years ago as well with other Ducati models on the brake line that was letting air into the line.
My fav Ducati engine of all time is the air cooled 900 SS with a Termigoni exhaust & the rattling dry clutch. I had one in a Cagiva Gran Canyon The predecessor of the Multi. It looked great, sounded awesome & would wheelie until you either ran out of road or courage. I even used it for several track days at PIR. One of those “wish I hadn’t sold it” deals..
At last, we have been waiting! Being a couple travelling two-up in Europe its great to watch another couple doing the same. Maybe in 2024 we travel Sweden to Moselle Valley or we might end up in Poland and the Baltic states and Finland. Like 2023. Recommended even though its a long way from Scotland. THE most important thing to me as I am getting older is RELIABILITY ! That is obviously hard for you to cover but if you have access to stats, it would be useful to include that info. For example, which of the 5 top shelf adv bikes you mentioned is the most reliable ? Maybe THAT is what will sperate them a bit since they are all otherwise amazing bikes.
Great video and very insightful, subscribed! As an owner of a 2021 V4S Sport, I can testify it's a phenomenal bike. I have taken it on multiple long distance trips and it's performed flawlessly. The wife loves it too and it's really comfortable riding 2 up.
I own a 2022 Iceberg White Multistrada V4S, I intended on buying a Streetfighter V4S but ordered the multi instead back in May 2022, arrived in the Midwest Aug 2022. Greatest bike I've ever owned. Get the heated seats and bars and the touring hand guards (ones shown in this video with clear height extensions). Any accessory you want, get it when ordering the bike as inventory is rough and they prioritize bike orders vs alacart orders. I did go for the full Akrapovic race exhaust, sounds totally different than stock or slip-on Akrapovic. Don't buy the slip-on, it makes almost no sound or power difference. Either get the full $3k+ exhaust or keep factory. Carbon canister for emissions can be a pain in the ass on super hot days 95°f and higher and it may or may not benefit you to bypass it or you may get strange fuel tank vacuum and stall on hard deceleration.

As a newbie rider (2023 Ninja 650), I find all your video articles to be highly professional, informative and educational. I'm already thinking about my eventual next bike and am certain an adventure model will be the way to go. Weight, engine configuration and powerband are all important. V4s are admittedly state of the art. The features/benefits/quality/value balance is always a challenge when weighing options, depending on one's wants. Initially, I thought I would be able to begin with a mid level BMW but financial challenges kept me looking at more affordable models. For parallel twins, the 270 (or 240) cranks that several manufacturers now make seem like good choices. Low vibration and noise, with good power range, are desired features. Anyway, I'm rambling but THANK YOU for all the great work you do! A year ago I wasn't even into motorcycles but now my fascination with everything about them, and the enjoyment of learning to ride safely, has been infectious and I am happy that the hobby/sport seems to be generally growing in the US. So many roads, so little time.
The reason I went with the Ducati MSV4 Rally is I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on something and then wish I'd just gotten what I wanted. Same with new vs used. Yes you can save some money on used but @ 59 years old I don't want anyone's used anything. I really wanted this to be my bike from zero miles, I'll know everything about it and every mile will be mine.
There’s also a factory accessory for a keyless gas cap. Wiring harness is factor installed if you choose to install the keyless cap. No dealer updates are needed within the software to support the keyless.
I love Ducati motorcycles. But this issue about requiring bringing the motorcycle to a dealer to do anything, including basic maintenance, makes these motorcycles un-obtainium for people like me, who live 120 miles from the closest dealer. I spent time to get an online code reader and then $40 to reply a sensor on my 2013 multistrada, which would had cost me a lot more if I had to bring it to a dealer, including my work time and my truck's gasoline to take it to the dealer and then to pick it up. Here is the key issue: there used to be a Ducati dealer in my home town, but Ducati made it impossible for them to survive in my smallish town (about 150K people in the area), when forced them to sell a certain quota of bikes. Great stuff Ian, your videos are well detailed and cover a broad range of topics about each motorcycle you review.
Nice Job Ian - the one thing I've always heard about the Multi...it's very fragile when you drop it...meaning things break easy - on my GSA it literally take me riding it off a cliff to damage things (which I've done). I know a person here that has one and refuses to ride off road because he dumped it one time and broke stuff on it that the crash bars were suppose to protect....which cost him a pretty penny to replace. Outside this one thing - it is a primo bike and special machine....thanks for the review!!!
I dumped my Multi V4S with panniers on and I don't have a crash cage. It held up fine, minor scuffs on some of the black plastic and that was about it. I wasn't going much faster than walking speed. It is a lot of plastic on the front but it all has a bit of flex to it.
Ducatis are just as well built as the GSA if not better, I own a Ducati V2S after three GSs, I dropped my GSs with heavy protection and broke more bodywork. The V4 is arguably even better built than the V2. Personally I don’t do off roading but if I did a 250kg+ bike would be my last choice😉
Our summary tall is 368cm. We sat almost all of them in the same day. The tightest is BMW (we can't live with it), than the KTM and Ducati (what a machines), after those the Triumph (maybe the best value) and finally the Honda Africa Twin (which I have and with DCT is the most comfortable for the passengers) gives the biggest place. If money doesn't matter I would buy that Ducati, I love it. Nice review, Thx. 🙂
Awesome video! Just one recommendation: Could you please look for under seat storage? I always check that on new bikes. I have all my tools, tire kit and first aid kit under the seat of my KTM 1190 Adventure R, and I think it is really handy that I never have to check that or pack a bag for normal rides. I did remove the charcoal air filter for more space and EURO6 Bikes don't have that much space underneath anymore, but it would be a nice touch to your videos. Cheers!
I’m new to your channel. I really like your bike reviews. You admit your likes and biases and get on with it in each review. My wife thinks you talk too fast and wear yourself out. But that’s how I would do it.
I used to tell you, try the Ducati Multistrada V4s (granturismo it's almost the same) and you did it and love it. Now, try the new Multistrada Rally and you'll be happier than ever!
Nice job again Ian! Watched both MSV4 videos and it sounds like about as good as it gets, and for the adventurer you are, how can you not someday have one of your own!? FWIW, I do know the KTM SADVS also has adaptive cruise. I preferred the R. Rode them both at DirtDaze in NH last year. As for the Multistrada, there is a dealership close to me but 1.it is OOMPR, and 2. I like to wrench, so it's a hard no. Perhaps someday I will ride one!

I totally agree with you that one of the downsides (to me is probably the biggest problem) is what to get after this bike? I have a habit of changing bikes every year or two. But ever since I purchased my Multis 1260 Enduro, I am lost, because I do not know what to get next for at least 24 months.
I never thought I’d buy an adventure bike, but whilst looking at a hypermotard, I decided to try a GS to see what the fuss was about. It was brilliant, but it’s only flaw was that it seemed too asthmatic when pushed hard at higher speeds, or uphill. So it just seemed logical to try the V4s multi……. And from the moment I did, I never looked back. I placed my order. As a direct result of buying this bike, my non biker wife, now loves biking. Slow coastal rides or fast canyon rides, it’s brilliant. A great review, and I’d agree with all of it. The full akro pipe option does seem to increase the fuel range, and certainly opens its lungs to get you down the road quicker if you want to.
@@shegocrazy I’m guessing the 1300 will be a more impressive beast, and wondering if they’ll push it towards 150hp to match the others. The only other flaw that I’ve found with all the big adventure bikes is that they still rev about 1000 or 1500 higher in top at 80mph than they should. They all have the torque to achieve a lower revving engine on a fast cruise, but for some reason they don’t. The engine tone on my 996 is far more relaxing at 90 than these are at 80. I’m guessing it’s so that they can rev out at max speed, or so they don’t need to click down on a long steep hill, or sit in top at 60on slower roads. But I’d trade that for being able to sit at sub 4000 revs at 80, and leave it in 5th at anything lower than 65.
@@alanprice9938 Re the cruising revs. Yes that's true but I guess there is always the trade-off between acceleration and torque. My current bike barely ticks over at 75mph but quickly runs out of puff at 5k+. The GS 1300 will HAVE to put at the same as the Tiger or KTM. Engine size is creeping up though. Soon they will be battleships masquerading as ADV bikes.

The Multi feels light on the move, but I’d hate to drop it…… and I notice the “pick up” was the one thing not included in this review. I’m 6ft4 and relatively strong from a youth of farming and lifting weights…… but I’d still ask for help.
You metion a soft and mushy rear brake. It's a linked system. Rearbrake is wonderful in trailbreaking when linked. It works independantly when rear wheel ABS is off.

Regarding the button below the starter, that toggles between standard low beam headlights and DRL (daytime running lights). The daytime running lights provide significantly LESS visibility when riding during the day and I always have this off. One problem is if you are riding at night or dusk and you toggle this incorrectly you will not even have low beams, but only the thin running lights...
I am a Brit living in Spain and own a 2018 MTS 1260S looking to upgrade to V4S but at 0nly 5ft 7in. struggle to touch floor. If I fit lowering kit the centre stand can't be used. Have Ducati got an height issue with short people. Great review on the bike though.
Did you say practicality at :22? A used V-STROM 1050 for $12K is practical. A $27K bike that you cannot reset the service light on is not. Love your reviews. Thumbs up.

I am currently in the market for an adventure bike and I have been drilling through your channel quite a bit lately.... One question I feel that hasnt been asked is: which of these companies would be the cheapest to maintain? Like, I know BMW costs a grip stateside, but over in europe its closer to a honda. So if someone was willing to throw 20k+ at a glorious machine, would they save on the back end by going with honda over ducati/bmw/etc? Just a thought I had as today I just delved into these ducati's lol. Again, great work and thank you for the education!!
I accept that the valve check service is 36000 miles but what is the cost at that time. I suspect it is huge with all the dismantling required. If so, can we expect the resale value to drop significantly once the bike has passed say, 25000 miles ? I can't find a quote on line which actually clarifies the cost associated with this
Another great review Ian. I can definitely understand not wanting to give it back. It's a great looking motorcycle with very useful technology and performance. At this price point though, it would've been nice for Ducati to include the crash bars and the bash plate. And the chain drive; do you see the lack of that as a downside, particularly if you're using it primarily for touring?
I would add a Scottoiler to it. I have one now on my Tiger 900 GT Pro. I am considering this Ducati as my next purchase. With the scottoiler doing its job, you really don't have to worry about the chain on touring unless you go through some really dirty roads or offroad and need to actually clean the chain.

Great vid 👌 After watching your comparison vid/mini trip Good to see/hear your final thoughts. Ducati have really thought about everything. Swapping from the desmo valves,rear cylinder cut off and now trumped it again with the new Diavel.which uses the same GT motor. By lengthening the time/revs of the rear cylinder cut off to just under 4k revs.helping with heat and fuel economy.so its a v2 at slow speeds and a v4 with the taps open. Could the rear brake issue be something to do with the heat or the position of the master cylinder? Looking forward to see your thoughts on the ktm 1290 as Al Fagan from 44Teeth(uk) loves em.To the point ktm allowed him to take it on track and spanked some superbikes Keep up the good work 👍

have you ridden the Rally version of the MS V4? I am wondering how its luggage is? this kind of storage can accommodate a helmet in the non-drive side. Can the Rally storage do that? and does the Rally come with this storage option... something to behold since I am thinking of upgrading to the Rally.
The Multistrada has linked front and rear brakes. It specifically states that the rear brake is soft when the brakes are linked. Turn off the linked brakes (or put in Enduro mode) and you will find the rear brake is fine......
Have this bike and ride it in Singapore. Regarding that cubby to put the phone in - - if you use ducati connect, and mirror sygic onto the dash, the phone will overheat quickly(especially in a tropical climate like Southeast Asia) and you lose your phone and navigation capability until the phone can be operated again. Becomes a downright nuisance when the navigation fails on you when you need it.
Excellent video again, love your honesty. My 2ct for the kind of money, there are details in Ducati's quality (footpeg mounts for example) that bother me and also tend to break. Also the huge amount of gas this baby gulps is not really timely, since the KTM uses way less and is even more of a hooligan bike, since it has more oomph at low RPM (IMHO). But I may be biased since I only had problems with Ducati's in the past and only luck with KTMs and I know many people feel the other way around hehe
I was cross shopping KTM and Ducati, issue I ran into at least here in Indiana is the KTM dealers move so little they don't get allocations so I couldn't get an Adventure or Superduke GT ordered. I would hound them weekly in hopes one would show up. After a year of waiting I went to Ducati, $500 down (refundable) to make an order if I didn't want floor model. I still want a Superduke GT even with my Multi V4S but don't think it'll happen as they stopped coming to the US.

Gotta have your a Ducati dealer right around the corner and your AMEX Platinum card ready even for routine maintenance. As you and Ryan F9 point out in your Ducati DesertX reviews the owners manual doesn't even have instructions for adjusting the chain, just a note to see your Ducati dealer for service! I'll take my KTM with it's detailed maintenance instructions in the owners manual and full service manual available for a $25 download. And before all of you chime in about KTM reliability, my KTM has had zero problems unlike my last BMW that had several issues needing attention at it's first service.
Well for the record, I'm with you, and getting ready to buy yet another KTM because I love them so much. But, the Multi is pretty amazing and service intervals are far apart.

I had the 748 w dry clutch and termis. Best sound and it was a track weapon. Wish I never sold it.
I almost snagged a used one a few years back, decided against it when i found getting parts is a veritable nightmare....

I own a 2022 Iceberg White Multistrada V4S, I intended on buying a Streetfighter V4S but ordered the multi instead back in May 2022, arrived in the Midwest Aug 2022. Greatest bike I've ever owned.
Get the heated seats and bars and the touring hand guards (ones shown in this video with clear height extensions). Any accessory you want, get it when ordering the bike as inventory is rough and they prioritize bike orders vs alacart orders.
I did go for the full Akrapovic race exhaust, sounds totally different than stock or slip-on Akrapovic. Don't buy the slip-on, it makes almost no sound or power difference. Either get the full $3k+ exhaust or keep factory.
Carbon canister for emissions can be a pain in the ass on super hot days 95°f and higher and it may or may not benefit you to bypass it or you may get strange fuel tank vacuum and stall on hard deceleration.

As a newbie rider (2023 Ninja 650), I find all your video articles to be highly professional, informative and educational. I'm already thinking about my eventual next bike and am certain an adventure model will be the way to go. Weight, engine configuration and powerband are all important. V4s are admittedly state of the art. The features/benefits/quality/value balance is always a challenge when weighing options, depending on one's wants. Initially, I thought I would be able to begin with a mid level BMW but financial challenges kept me looking at more affordable models. For parallel twins, the 270 (or 240) cranks that several manufacturers now make seem like good choices. Low vibration and noise, with good power range, are desired features. Anyway, I'm rambling but THANK YOU for all the great work you do! A year ago I wasn't even into motorcycles but now my fascination with everything about them, and the enjoyment of learning to ride safely, has been infectious and I am happy that the hobby/sport seems to be generally growing in the US. So many roads, so little time.
The reason I went with the Ducati MSV4 Rally is I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on something and then wish I'd just gotten what I wanted. Same with new vs used. Yes you can save some money on used but @ 59 years old I don't want anyone's used anything. I really wanted this to be my bike from zero miles, I'll know everything about it and every mile will be mine.

Adaptive cruise and blind spot detection are awesome. Triumph has them as well.
There’s also a factory accessory for a keyless gas cap. Wiring harness is factor installed if you choose to install the keyless cap. No dealer updates are needed within the software to support the keyless.
I love Ducati motorcycles. But this issue about requiring bringing the motorcycle to a dealer to do anything, including basic maintenance, makes these motorcycles un-obtainium for people like me, who live 120 miles from the closest dealer. I spent time to get an online code reader and then $40 to reply a sensor on my 2013 multistrada, which would had cost me a lot more if I had to bring it to a dealer, including my work time and my truck's gasoline to take it to the dealer and then to pick it up. Here is the key issue: there used to be a Ducati dealer in my home town, but Ducati made it impossible for them to survive in my smallish town (about 150K people in the area), when forced them to sell a certain quota of bikes. Great stuff Ian, your videos are well detailed and cover a broad range of topics about each motorcycle you review.

Nice Job Ian - the one thing I've always heard about the Multi...it's very fragile when you drop it...meaning things break easy - on my GSA it literally take me riding it off a cliff to damage things (which I've done). I know a person here that has one and refuses to ride off road because he dumped it one time and broke stuff on it that the crash bars were suppose to protect....which cost him a pretty penny to replace. Outside this one thing - it is a primo bike and special machine....thanks for the review!!!

I dumped my Multi V4S with panniers on and I don't have a crash cage. It held up fine, minor scuffs on some of the black plastic and that was about it. I wasn't going much faster than walking speed. It is a lot of plastic on the front but it all has a bit of flex to it.

Ducatis are just as well built as the GSA if not better, I own a Ducati V2S after three GSs, I dropped my GSs with heavy protection and broke more bodywork. The V4 is arguably even better built than the V2. Personally I don’t do off roading but if I did a 250kg+ bike would be my last choice😉

Our summary tall is 368cm. We sat almost all of them in the same day. The tightest is BMW (we can't live with it), than the KTM and Ducati (what a machines), after those the Triumph (maybe the best value) and finally the Honda Africa Twin (which I have and with DCT is the most comfortable for the passengers) gives the biggest place. If money doesn't matter I would buy that Ducati, I love it. Nice review, Thx. 🙂

I always check that on new bikes. I have all my tools, tire kit and first aid kit under the seat of my KTM 1190 Adventure R, and I think it is really handy that I never have to check that or pack a bag for normal rides. I did remove the charcoal air filter for more space and EURO6 Bikes don't have that much space underneath anymore, but it would be a nice touch to your videos. Cheers!
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S comes with Adaptive Cruise Control as well. The R model can be retrofitted but it becomes extremely expensive to do so.

I used to tell you, try the Ducati Multistrada V4s (granturismo it's almost the same) and you did it and love it. Now, try the new Multistrada Rally and you'll be happier than ever!
Nice job again Ian! Watched both MSV4 videos and it sounds like about as good as it gets, and for the adventurer you are, how can you not someday have one of your own!? FWIW, I do know the KTM SADVS also has adaptive cruise. I preferred the R. Rode them both at DirtDaze in NH last year. As for the Multistrada, there is a dealership close to me but 1.it is OOMPR, and 2. I like to wrench, so it's a hard no. Perhaps someday I will ride one!

I totally agree with you that one of the downsides (to me is probably the biggest problem) is what to get after this bike? I have a habit of changing bikes every year or two. But ever since I purchased my Multis 1260 Enduro, I am lost, because I do not know what to get next for at least 24 months.
I never thought I’d buy an adventure bike, but whilst looking at a hypermotard, I decided to try a GS to see what the fuss was about. It was brilliant, but it’s only flaw was that it seemed too asthmatic when pushed hard at higher speeds, or uphill. So it just seemed logical to try the V4s multi……. And from the moment I did, I never looked back. I placed my order.
As a direct result of buying this bike, my non biker wife, now loves biking. Slow coastal rides or fast canyon rides, it’s brilliant.
A great review, and I’d agree with all of it. The full akro pipe option does seem to increase the fuel range, and certainly opens its lungs to get you down the road quicker if you want to.

The only other flaw that I’ve found with all the big adventure bikes is that they still rev about 1000 or 1500 higher in top at 80mph than they should.
They all have the torque to achieve a lower revving engine on a fast cruise, but for some reason they don’t. The engine tone on my 996 is far more relaxing at 90 than these are at 80.
I’m guessing it’s so that they can rev out at max speed, or so they don’t need to click down on a long steep hill, or sit in top at 60on slower roads. But I’d trade that for being able to sit at sub 4000 revs at 80, and leave it in 5th at anything lower than 65.
@@alanprice9938 Re the cruising revs. Yes that's true but I guess there is always the trade-off between acceleration and torque. My current bike barely ticks over at 75mph but quickly runs out of puff at 5k+. The GS 1300 will HAVE to put at the same as the Tiger or KTM. Engine size is creeping up though. Soon they will be battleships masquerading as ADV bikes.

The Multi feels light on the move, but I’d hate to drop it…… and I notice the “pick up” was the one thing not included in this review. I’m 6ft4 and relatively strong from a youth of farming and lifting weights…… but I’d still ask for help.

Rearbrake is wonderful in trailbreaking when linked.
It works independantly when rear wheel ABS is off.
Not sure why I watched a 35 minute video on a bike I’d never buy but as per usual fantastic overview and review. Very neat bike, little too many creature comforts for me but definitely wouldn’t mind riding one of those long distance

Understandable. For myself it's because of how good a job that Ian does. There is something about watching competence at work.
Regarding the button below the starter, that toggles between standard low beam headlights and DRL (daytime running lights). The daytime running lights provide significantly LESS visibility when riding during the day and I always have this off. One problem is if you are riding at night or dusk and you toggle this incorrectly you will not even have low beams, but only the thin running lights...

I am a Brit living in Spain and own a 2018 MTS 1260S looking to upgrade to V4S but at 0nly 5ft 7in. struggle to touch floor. If I fit lowering kit the centre stand can't be used. Have Ducati got an height issue with short people. Great review on the bike though.

Hi Ian, I really think this is beautifull bike if not the most beautifull ''all road'' bike on the market. I recently bought a Desert X because I think it is a lot more capable offroad. And well, the Multistrada is just expensive. Really love your channel, I have been following your channel for a while now (on my other UA-cam account) and you are a inspiration for creating content myself! Goal is to go full time in the foreseeable future. I hope this is possible! Good luck!

I am currently in the market for an adventure bike and I have been drilling through your channel quite a bit lately.... One question I feel that hasnt been asked is: which of these companies would be the cheapest to maintain? Like, I know BMW costs a grip stateside, but over in europe its closer to a honda. So if someone was willing to throw 20k+ at a glorious machine, would they save on the back end by going with honda over ducati/bmw/etc? Just a thought I had as today I just delved into these ducati's lol. Again, great work and thank you for the education!!
I accept that the valve check service is 36000 miles but what is the cost at that time. I suspect it is huge with all the dismantling required. If so, can we expect the resale value to drop significantly once the bike has passed say, 25000 miles ? I can't find a quote on line which actually clarifies the cost associated with this
Another great review Ian. I can definitely understand not wanting to give it back. It's a great looking motorcycle with very useful technology and performance. At this price point though, it would've been nice for Ducati to include the crash bars and the bash plate. And the chain drive; do you see the lack of that as a downside, particularly if you're using it primarily for touring?
I would add a Scottoiler to it. I have one now on my Tiger 900 GT Pro. I am considering this Ducati as my next purchase. With the scottoiler doing its job, you really don't have to worry about the chain on touring unless you go through some really dirty roads or offroad and need to actually clean the chain.

Ducati have really thought about everything.
Swapping from the desmo valves,rear cylinder cut off and now trumped it again with the new Diavel.which uses the same GT motor. By lengthening the time/revs of the rear cylinder cut off to just under 4k revs.helping with heat and fuel economy.so its a v2 at slow speeds and a v4 with the taps open.
Could the rear brake issue be something to do with the heat or the position of the master cylinder?
Looking forward to see your thoughts on the ktm 1290 as Al Fagan from 44Teeth(uk) loves em.To the point ktm allowed him to take it on track and spanked some superbikes

have you ridden the Rally version of the MS V4? I am wondering how its luggage is? this kind of storage can accommodate a helmet in the non-drive side. Can the Rally storage do that? and does the Rally come with this storage option... something to behold since I am thinking of upgrading to the Rally.
The Multistrada has linked front and rear brakes. It specifically states that the rear brake is soft when the brakes are linked. Turn off the linked brakes (or put in Enduro mode) and you will find the rear brake is fine......

Have this bike and ride it in Singapore. Regarding that cubby to put the phone in - - if you use ducati connect, and mirror sygic onto the dash, the phone will overheat quickly(especially in a tropical climate like Southeast Asia) and you lose your phone and navigation capability until the phone can be operated again. Becomes a downright nuisance when the navigation fails on you when you need it.
Excellent video again, love your honesty. My 2ct for the kind of money, there are details in Ducati's quality (footpeg mounts for example) that bother me and also tend to break. Also the huge amount of gas this baby gulps is not really timely, since the KTM uses way less and is even more of a hooligan bike, since it has more oomph at low RPM (IMHO). But I may be biased since I only had problems with Ducati's in the past and only luck with KTMs and I know many people feel the other way around hehe

I was cross shopping KTM and Ducati, issue I ran into at least here in Indiana is the KTM dealers move so little they don't get allocations so I couldn't get an Adventure or Superduke GT ordered. I would hound them weekly in hopes one would show up. After a year of waiting I went to Ducati, $500 down (refundable) to make an order if I didn't want floor model. I still want a Superduke GT even with my Multi V4S but don't think it'll happen as they stopped coming to the US.

Do you have really clean oil or was there no oil in the sight glass when on the center stand during your walk around?
Gotta have your a Ducati dealer right around the corner and your AMEX Platinum card ready even for routine maintenance. As you and Ryan F9 point out in your Ducati DesertX reviews the owners manual doesn't even have instructions for adjusting the chain, just a note to see your Ducati dealer for service! I'll take my KTM with it's detailed maintenance instructions in the owners manual and full service manual available for a $25 download. And before all of you chime in about KTM reliability, my KTM has had zero problems unlike my last BMW that had several issues needing attention at it's first service.
Well for the record, I'm with you, and getting ready to buy yet another KTM because I love them so much. But, the Multi is pretty amazing and service intervals are far apart.
