So the drummer left on a measly wage of £70 a week when he could have been earning £2,000. And McCartney robbed the guitarist only because he claimed the right to be human and live his life outside of Wings. He robbed and kicked him out of the group under a fictitious pretext, spreading the myth that the guitarist turned out to be unprofessional and could not play the solo, which Paul played with ease. From Denny Laine, McCartney, with meanness and deceit, bought the copyrights to the Wings' joint songs, including the most commercially successful song in the UK, Mull Of Kintyre 1977. And during the Beatles period, McCartney plagiarized songs: Hey Jude, Yesterday, Blackbird. Later he passed off Lennon’s Yellow Submarine, In My Life and the joint Michelle, Eleanor Rigby, She’s Leaving Home, With A Little Help From My Friends as his own songs. One of the most perfectly crafted songs of all time. Remarkable. Bagpipes can sound overpowering, but here...so subtle, like a caress, underpinning Sir P's delicate delivery yet uplifting the whole performance. So very satisfying.
Yeah, I agree. When it’s just one bagpiper, it’s an annoyance. But when there are multiple bagpipes playing harmoniously like this, it’s so ethereal and other worldly … marvellous song, so beautifully crafted.
You listen to a song like this and think maybe Paul is the only one who could bring the world together. I came to know this song through my dad. He would sit me on his lap and tell me to listen to the music of his home. This song will live within me forever. The pipes, Och the pipes. ❤
This is also a great, great video. Paul starts singing. Linda and Denny show up. Then the bagpipes come in. Then it's like the whole town shows up so they can all sing with Paul and Denny.

Have loved Paul McCartney all my life and at 62 yrs old still love him. Have seen him live 3 times and the last being a few mnths ago when he was 81 yrs old and he sang non stop for 3 1/2 hrs. What a singer and a professional entertainer, puts younger artists to shame. Just the thought of him passing on makes me feel sad as if he is a member of my family. What a damn legend. R.I.P Denny Laine too, have always loved you too (just nowhere near as much as Paul :) )
What an incredibly beautiful song, and beautiful place. Paul must treasure this great video, with his children, friends and neighbors, and especially Linda.
This is my FAVORITE McCartney solo record. Loved it from the first playing in 1977. The Scottish pipe band makes the recording even more remarkable. (Love the official music video too.)

@@mgc6813 of Irish ancestry. Both parents.
@@mikeprevost8650 yes but he's not Scottish that the point and yes we all know who was from Irish decent in the Beatles. You missed the point
@@mgc6813 Paul is more than this. He is a gift to the whole world.
Arguably Paul's best post Beatles song this one.
this song was my grandpa’s favourite before he passed, now we listen to this song every christmas and it always reminds me of him ❤
2024 and still here .we won’t forget you Denny !
I love this song very much. I saw Paul McCartney live, 10 years ago. This song was part of the setlist. Cheers! ✌️
Lucky you!! He never performed this song in the US. Such a shame. I would’ve loved it!
@@lindaslattery8341 It was amazing seeing him do this in Edmonton. He used a pipe and drum corps from the Edmonton Police Service. It's on UA-cam. Cheers! ✌️
Not even with Wix as "bagpipes"...
The sound of pipes is really breathtaking, utterly love this song...and love Paul and Linda forever
Agree!!
May Linda rest in peace
One the greatest tunes of the 70s, and the greatest use of bagpipes in a pop song - ever !
Better use than in "It's a Long Way to the Top"? I don't think so.
It's good use of the pipes--but still rather traditional. Try listening to AC/DC's "It's a long Way To The Top (If You Wannna Rock and Roll)" if you really want to hear bag pipes used in an unprecedented rock and roll sound!
In France we have one of our most famous song ever by Michel Sardou "Les lacs du Conemara". You should try it. But Mull of Kintyre is the eternal number 1, it's not a pop song anymore, it's an anthem.
RIP Denny Laine, I love your works & I'll continue to do so until my dying day! From Tom on the Merseyside 5/12/23 ✌️ BIG LOVE

This song gives me goosebumps
i get shivers down my Spine when the Pipers appear on the Screen, marching along the Beach! Epic!
Ditto
this is one of my favourites songs by Wings ♥
Thank you Paul! I love this song! The guitar, pipes, the camera panning the beauty of the Scottish countryside along the coast, and your singing is amazing! Your artistry is beyond compare!
Hello how are you doing, it’s nice meeting you here.
Im scottish so i love this. Majes me shed tears. Beautiful scenery very nostalgic reminds me of my roots. Paul is one of the most talented musicians and song writers ever. RIP beautifyl Linda.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written !! I love the pipes!! thanks Paul Linda Denny!! Better Days 👐👐✌️😎🌹
I was in hospital with a serious infection when this came out. Still makes me smile to hear it. I found its warmth very comforting in those worrying times.
One of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time, but one of the most down to earth people you'll ever meet. What a beautiful song.......Wow.
Solo?, co written.
It is my favorite SOLO record, as in solo career. Still haven't figured out my fave McCartney (McCartney/Lennon, Lennon/McCartney) song as a Beatle yet.@@ferm8103
This song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it! Those bagpipes! ❤🏴 thank you Sir Paul for composing this modern folk song 😊
Paul es escocés?
Me as well my fav. ♥️
@@diegocervera834 no, pero él vivía allí por muchos años con Linda y sus hijos. Ademas, es dueño de mucha tierra y un rancho en Escosia
@Lay Zhang haha I guess you’re the Paul impersonator 😠
The first time I heard this song I loved it immediately. But when the pipes came in I burst into tears.
Only heard this song a few months ago and literally started weeping.
Never been to Scotland, but this song always make me missed a place that I've never seen.

Magic. I was in the 5th row when he played this in New Zealand. Goose bumps!!!
Amen! Thank you for all you gave us, Denny❤
No matter where you go in life and wherever you travel theres always the place you were brought up in and for me personally this song sums it up for me perfectly!❤
I am a singer/song Writer.I understand the song and it's meaning. It' is a beautiful song. R.R.M.😂
One of my favorite songs!
Thank you Paul and Wings!!❤❤
The pipes, the pipes, the pipes. I can't hear them without being brought to tears by a deep homesickness for a place I've never been. Add in one of the deep loves of my life that I've never met, and it's game over, isn't it? Thank you, Paul! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
never been there?, you must visit Scotland to understand the whole homesickness 🏴🤗
You managed to put into words what I feel everytime I hear this song. First time I heard it in 1977 I had to record it on my Casset player. Love this Thank you!
First time I heard bagpipes was in the 70s in Scotland has a 8 year old, my Late Dad was stationed up there and my Late Mum took us 6 kids on a coach.. loved it and hearing that piper brings back memories..
I love that the pipes are not just an accent here and there, but are backing the guitars for the entirety of the song. Total charm! ❤🤩
@@jerushamaxwell281 Paul really understood the power of the pipes.
A SONG THAT WILL BE AROUND FOR THE AGES...BEAUTIFUL
Wunderschön, es war so eine tolle Zeit damals. Danke Paul für die wunderbare Musik 💖🙏😊💖
What a remarkable song, simply gorgeous
this song feels much much older than a late 1970s song. timeless songwriting.
I can't listen to this without weeping like a baby. So simple but has a depth that reaches straight to my soul.
Yes...me too..has never been to Scotland..not even born in UK..but brought up on British movies and it reminds me of ghosts movies and knights in the shining armour and my childhood dreams of a castle on a hill covered with heath...somewhere in Scotland
Same. Heard it a million times but half way thru the song it gets me emotional every time.
Such a great song and beautiful video! Perfect for a special person who left my world 12 years ago. Thank you, Paul.💜✌️
Aw im so sorry for your loss! Sending lots of love to you. ❤️
🙏❤️🕯🕊
😢what a sad loss of a great artist you will be missed by millions of Scots who hear this beautiful song that you co wrote with Paul.
This makes my eyes tear up !! Simply amazing!!! There is no one who even comes close to this man they call Sir Paul McCartney!!! There are no words that adequately describe him!!😮
Tą piosenkę - utwór muzyczny śpiewa też przepięknie Susan Bojle ❤🎉.
Obydwa wykonania niezwykłe.
Incredibly beautiful! Thank you dearest Sir Paul!
Every time, I cannot believe how much the simple beauty of this song can bring me to tears.
One of the most beautiful songs he's ever written ❤️
Hes ever cowritten...RIP Denny
