*Did you know that the song "Silly Love Songs" by Paul McCartney is actually a response to John Lennon's comment about Paul post-Beatles break up when Lennon claimed that the only songs that Paul had written for the Beatles were just "silly love songs" Paul once commented "The fact is, deep down, people are very sentimental. If they watch a sentimental movie at home, they cry, but in public they won't. We don't like to show our emotions, we tend to sneer at that & in the same way, people may not admit to liking love songs, but that's what they seem to crave."
Wonder what John thought about "Hey Jude". Paul wrote it for Julian Lennon after his father left his mother for Yoko. Remember to let her into your heart and then you begin to make things better. They were best of friends, I"m sure John was joking. He also said The Beatles were, "more popular than Jesus".

Wow. My first memory i was four years old & it was xmas morning & my father struck me upside my head laying me out on the floor. I didnt get my presents that year & i was never told what i did to get socked in the head
I think the first time I heard this song, I was walking in the neighborhood I grew up in. From the backseat radio of a parked, open convertible, I heard McCartney’s voice and remember thinking, ’What did this guy mean about wanting to “fill the world” with “silly love songs?’” ‘Why would anyone want to do that?’ Now, decades, later, I understand... and I'm glad he did. Thanks so much, Sir Paul!
It is done in the studio I remember wings over America the DJ's on the radio would play a song from the concert I do believe it was hey Jude isolated but Linda's voice it was so funny everybody was laughing it was the worst thing you could ever hear dogs all over the city where howling people calling in the radio station with laughing so hard she can't sing a note but to her credit she always admitted that
@@markwindsheimer201 I remember that. I guess if people choose to be cruel and spiteful they could make any of us of look like idiots by putting us under a microscope. Linda always struck me as being a very genuine and down to earth person....a really good person. She was adored by her husband and that is a wonderful thing. So she couldn't sing...who cares...her husband wanted her to be a part of the group, it's his group...that's his right. There are plenty of artists making big money and they are terrible singers in reality...
McCartney was in a songwriting ZONE for about 15 years, where he couldn’t miss, including when he wrote this one. Both his voice and the bass line on this one are incredible.
For me it's between 62-82. 84 was the very last year when I think the magic part of that window completely closed. Then from there on in he is just like any other musician in the trenches either hitting or missing. But even when it worked for other fans after that, not so much for me.
nothing compares to what he wrote during the Beatles years. they are on a whole different level. He and Lennon could pull in words and melodies better together than they could apart. Lennon's post Beatles work is surprisingly weak. Harrison's All Things is the best post-beatles record.
@@jv-ep2tc "Lennon's post Beatles work is surprisingly weak." That's all a matter of opinion. Lennon's entire solo output consists of just five albums and one of those is a cover's album. Of course he did a few albums with Yoko which includes those albums with avent-garde leanings but effectively Lennon spent his first five years after leaving the Beatles making records when the mood took him. He then spent five years making bread, and then he made a couple more albums before he was shot dead. Collectively, he created more in those five years than most musicians create within a lifetime. (Never mind the magic he created as a Beatle).
They look like brother and sister...which is another way of saying they were probably soul mates. It's hard to think of a person losing their soul mate. Whenever I hear this song I think about that scenario....it's difficult to contemplate, so I can't begin to appreciate the perspective of the person left behind. The pain must be all consuming.
I got that watching "Get Back." Lennon seemed disinterested and distracted by Yoko, and completely ADD at best anyway. Harrison was finding his confidence, capable of more but seemingly still awed by Lennon and McCartney, though he needn't have, probably should have had more input but it wasn't in him to stand out against the even bigger stars in the band and was still playing what he was told. Starr needed zero instruction and patiently listening to McCartney playing a riff and then laying down a perfect beat every time on first play, what a pro. And McCartney was constantly spewing new music. It was like watching an overactive painter, he just couldn't stop generating amazing riffs that quickly grew into those songs on "Let it Be." It really was awesome to watch. Total genius.
Summer of 1976, I was 11 when I first heard this awesome song. I loved it instantly! The bass line really hooked me. And I loved the vocal harmonies between Paul and Linda. This song is a timeless classic. So glad I grew up during the 70’s and early 80’s, when music (like this song) was amazing. ❤
This song is very nostalgic. God bless Paul McCartney. This was when music was better and the world was more peaceful. As a child of the 1970's, I feel very sorry for today's children.
No. The world was lost in wars in Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Central America, and much of Africa. Most of that was due to the United States and Russia inflicting their mutual and violent hatred on everyone in between. And here in the West, divorce was at an all-time high as women realized that many of their husbands were abusive and narcissistic. Today's children are smarter and more in tune with people around the world, and therefore less tolerant of war. And they are much smarter than the fools who voted for the wars and deficit spending of Nixon and Reagan. Stop projecting your own issues onto younger, healthier generations. (By the way, I'm Gen X.)
Like what kinda take is this have you listened to sly and the family stone or James brown and all the music that came from those cats. You know the funk?
I was 5 years old and in hospital with meningitis when this song came out. I used to listen to the hospital radio on the headphones behind the bed. I was in isolation and scared to death. A beautiful young nurse took a shine to me and would come and see me after her shift had finished and play with lego bricks with me. God bless you you beautiful kind lady I fell in love with you. I hope you are still with us...but of not, I will see you again one day.
I'm the same age as Paul's daughter Mary, so I was just a kid when this song came out. But I definitely remember how it was all over the radio and what a big song it was. Still love listening to it to this day.
When I was 4 years old Sir Paul was my first crush, and on my 12th Birthday my mum and dad surprised me with tickets to see Wings on their UK tour. They were fantastic and I'll never forget how I felt actually seeing him live. I'm now 62 and he's still my all time favourite...😍🥰

@@lynnschnekenburger7270 I just find the nostalgia for certain music to accompany a prelapsarian and ahistorical view of the past. Nowhere is "everything" simple and good. This song was a response to John's critique that Paul was making love songs in a politically fraught time. And Paul was suggesting sometimes that is what we need. Both of their views are reasonable and both are different ways to respond to difficulty and complexity.
This song just made me cry...I always heard it as a child, but now as an adult, I capture its whole meaning. Have you ever met someone you love so much it just makes you cry? That's exactly how this song makes me feel. Somehow, tears of joy are more painful than tears of sadness. It just reminds you of all the years happiness has been missing, and you will never have to face those days no more. The sun feels new again, life is new, for you are simply reborn. And all that you thought life was...painful, miserable, and lonely..was not. It is simple, lovely, and easy. It's beautiful. And after all those years of listening, I am finally living and breathing this song. Love is truly all you need.
I can't watch this without weeping. I remember when Paul & Linda met & fell in love. It was such a fairy tale for both of them, maybe more so for Paul, as he was miraculously able to find someone who loved him for who he is, not for his fame or money or any other reason. Just real admiration, respect & good old fashioned chemistry. I really miss you Linda. I hope you are somewhere waiting to see him again someday. Rest in peace. 💜💜
Paul just needed to have a woman in his life. She fit the part far better then Asher. That's why, he mourned for a year and married a gold digger. Too bad she didn't get him for more. How about Paul's iligitimates, pre Beatles???? They. Exist you know. Just had to have a girlfriend and usually they were homely

Awh the lovely days of Linda McCartney...❤
RIP, lovely lady, so sad.
Summer of '76 🇺🇲s Bicentennial Celebration. I miss those days 😔
Can the final 30 seconds of a song be any more beautiful that you hate it when it ends?
One of my favorite songs of all time.

Paul is a living legend!
Absolutely fantastic backing vocals from Linda. R.I.P.😍
Linda was a beautiful lady
Her vocals were very good
@@markwindsheimer201 Linda McCartney was a beautiful human being
McCartney was in a songwriting ZONE for about 15 years, where he couldn’t miss, including when he wrote this one. Both his voice and the bass line on this one are incredible.
He's been in that zone his entire career.
I remember this whole lp of band on the run fantastic ❤👍
Thanks for the smiles. 😊
To all the fans of PAUL MCCARTNEY, Good Evening!
So beautiful. Paul and Linda were magic.
Indeed!

Do not underestimate the contribution of the late great Denny Laine!
Sir Paul is a musical treasure. That bass is legendary!
Summer of 1976, I was 11 when I first heard this awesome song. I loved it instantly! The bass line really hooked me. And I loved the vocal harmonies between Paul and Linda. This song is a timeless classic.

This is a good song
This song is very nostalgic. God bless Paul McCartney. This was when music was better and the world was more peaceful. As a child of the 1970's, I feel very sorry for today's children.
Agreed. That’s why today’s teens are anxiety riddled, emotionally detached, miserable & disillusioned.
It's ok. You'll be obsolete soon in the future along with your awful generation messing this world up
Согласен да не заняты ничем. Только кнопки а телефоне тыкать.

Superb bass line.👍 I do believe this particular performance was definitely underrated!
I'm the same age as Paul's daughter Mary, so I was just a kid when this song came out. But I definitely remember how it was all over the radio and what a big song it was. Still love listening to it to this day.

@@michaelcarrig627 Ugh!!!! Those were not good days for NYC. Not everywhere is everything simple and good.
I've said this several times before, but here i go again, "Paul McCartney is a living legend."

I get what you're saying and can relate.❤❤
16yr old guy,on holidays with friends.250 miles from home ,beautiful summer 76.what memories.
I saw Paul McCartney in Vancouver B.C. in 2019. He was still fantastic in person.

@@beverlykrebs4372 without question!!!! Linda was his soulmate. I was just saying that he always needed a female. Meaning if he broke up with a girl today, he'd need a replacement so to speak. He lost his mom at 14 and adolescence is a trigger for quite a lot
