My mom had cancer arround 2012-2014 and she was a happy person, dynamic. But when she got sick in her face I only saw sadness and depression, so when I heard the parts that says "You'll be dancing once again and the pain will ends" I imagine here dancing, singing, laughing again not in this live, in heaven, she is now with our God without grievings, just like I imagine her when I saw in her sickness. It may be that I never had hope that she would overcome cancer, but I always had the hope that she would be happy as I know she is now, not earthly but her soul is.
I always think of my mom when I listen to ABBA and for some reason particularly when I listen to this song. She passed away almost 3 years ago now. During the 70s she was an absolutely stunning and gorgeous woman in her late 20s and early 30s. She loved ABBA back then and throughout her life. I can picture her during those years before I was even a twinkle in her eye having a great time out on the dance floor and enjoying her youth. I really miss you mom. I love you.

I don`t think this is sad song at all. More like, where one person is comforting another, and saying like everything will be alright in the end. Song itself, the melody and music is uplifting and full of hope.
My mother always called me this, Chick, or Chickadee. Sweet woman, I miss her! She was always there for me when I was older after a rocky childhood. I still feel her love and guidance, and I’m grateful for the time we had.
This song has carried me through some of the darkest, loneliest moments of my life. “Chiquita, you and I cry, but the sun is still in the sky and shining above you” if you’re reading this, just know there will be both good & bad days. Just keep your head up xx
On your life's journey, enjoy the ride. Change what you can and except what you cant. Don't look back with regret, a waste of time. At the time it was you making decisions with the information and resources you had. Good or bad. Look to the future and explore.... Looking back in a few years you will then say " I have done what I could with those resources I had. So relax, explore this time and space. There is a vast world out there. And stop picking on yourself...there will always be someone higher or better, but remember you alone can make yourself feel better.

Your comment made me cry. What a beautiful mother, who knew that this song would heal any sad heart, and who sang it to you. So much love she must have felt and experienced. God bless her soul.
The first time you hear this song, you don't necessarily expect the instrumental reprise at the end. That was a typical Benny embellishment... He did it again with ABBA's 'Two for the Price of One' ( ua-cam.com/video/fCkbXFn4SpY/v-deo.html&t=179 ) and then used that little reprise melody as inspiration for a whole instrumental track called 'Cirkus Finemang'(ua-cam.com/video/uDqoXrzOoW0/v-deo.html).
@@andrewsessa7137 He was a quite good autodidact (you may want to listen to the "Benny Andersson Piano" LP to confirm), and he also has a very creative sound engineer which made this piano both sound lik a perfectly adjusted (couple of) grand piano and an old dusty boy used by a ragtime player in a bar in Lafayette or New Orleans.
The melody in the chorus is just unbelievable! Amazingly CRAZY GOOD! You "feel" something with the first note in the chorus. Just perfection in every single way. Thankyou for the music ABBA.
Has anyone noticed how "real" this music video is? Frida constantly has to pull her hair back when it blows in her face, but she does it in such a beautiful way and it makes it all just feel more authentic. They could have just reshot the video, but they didn't. The imperfections make it all even better!

I think this song relates to the breakup of one of the couples and is directed to their daughter who was about nine years old. Poignant . I may be off base with this.

For the longest time I didn't understand the bit about "you've broken a feather" -- and I've only recently realized what they were singing in the line about "your love's a blown-out candle". I had no idea what that was.
Still I LOVE this song and never get tired of the LIFT it brings me!
People ignoring the whole point of the song by just skipping to the end. This song has to be one of the saddest songs with a happy sound.

I don`t think this is sad song at all. More like, where one person is comforting another, and saying like everything will be alright in the end. Song itself, the melody and music is uplifting and full of hope.

If you have soul , heart and very good music taste , you listen ABBA music definitely .
ABBA is the perfect music for all times .
YES!!! Especially in this days.

Chiquitita, tell me what's wrong
You're enchained by your own sorrow
In your eyes there is no hope for tomorrow
How I hate to see you like this
There is no way you can deny it
I can see that you're oh so sad, so quiet
Chiquitita, tell me the truth
I'm a shoulder you can cry on
Your best friend, I'm the one you must rely on
You were always sure of yourself
Now I see you've broken a feather
I hope we can patch it up together
Chiquitita, you and I know
How the heartaches come and they go and the scars they're leaving
You'll be dancing once again and the pain will end
You will have no time for grieving
Chiquitita, you and I cry
But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you
Let me hear you sing once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Chiquitita
Try once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Chiquitita
So the walls came tumbling down
And your love's a blown out candle
All is gone and it seems too hard to handle
Chiquitita, tell me the truth
There is no way you can deny it
I see that you're oh so sad, so quiet
Chiquitita, you and I know
How the heartaches come and they go and the scars they're leaving
You'll be dancing once again and the pain will end
You will have no time for grieving

Benny piano playing at the end is phenomenal
The first time you hear this song, you don't necessarily expect the instrumental reprise at the end. That was a typical Benny embellishment... He did it again with ABBA's 'Two for the Price of One' ( ua-cam.com/video/fCkbXFn4SpY/v-deo.html&t=179 ) and then used that little reprise melody as inspiration for a whole instrumental track called 'Cirkus Finemang'(ua-cam.com/video/uDqoXrzOoW0/v-deo.html).
M R my FAVORITE part
Looks like he's playing a barbecue with keys. :)
M R he was a excellent piano player wasn’t he ?
I noticed that too, and someone walking far behind at 4:28.
and probably their hands (especially Benny) are cold, in the beginning you see him shaking them
