I started a new series if you haven’t watched it yet. I breakdown framing, lighting and gear I used on some of my favourite music videos: ua-cam.com/video/FzcB9fD_j3s/v-deo.html
Dont shoot your videos with sony its sucks,
I'm thinking of getting the Canon 70-200mm f4, Sigma 18-35mm f1.8, and Sigma 10-20mm for my GH-5. Which speedbooster should I get? Should I get ultra or xl? I am more interested in filming videos than pictures.
@@anoopchaudhary3961 I'll make sure to take your advice. Theres no way anyone could ever shoot anything good on a Sony.
I'm most likely going to purchace this lens and wanted to know if you know any good 6 stop ND filters for this lens. Is this one good?: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FZ83QE4?th=1
@@LeeZavitz I REALLY hope that that was sarcasm.
I picked up one of these last year from a local pawn shop. It was in a camera bag, along with a beaten but usable D5200, a decent Nikon 50/1.4, a Rokinon fisheye, and a couple of kit lenses.. all for $250. When I dug down to the bottom of the bag and saw the Sigma hiding there, I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough.
That's a nice deal
deal of a lifetime
I envy you fam.😭
Dude this lens is an absolute beast! I use this for 98% of the shots that I shoot! Low light performance is amazing and the quality of the glass is second to none!
Is there IS on this Lens?
What camera u use it with?
@@McAliotsam No IS on this, unfortunately.

Thank you so much for making this video! I've been shooting on my DSLR for about a year but I only recently found the time and discipline to learn more about my camera rather than just sticking to auto mode. I bought a 50mm lens to up my game, but I, unfortunately, didn't know that I had a crop sensor camera or what a crop sensor was in general. I've been craving a wide-angle lens ever since and was apprehensive to purchase this lens since some reviews were really old. I'm glad to see someone give their take on how it holds up in 2019. Keep up the good work man
I mainly use mine for my video work, and absolutely love the lens. It is a heavy lens, and if you are using a mount adapter, that adds more to the weight and length. Its no an issue for me as I am doing all my video work inside. I love it when people focus on the video aspect of this lens, which is amazing!
For real! So good! This lens has been my workhorse for the past 3 years! Thanks for sharing, love your channel! I would love to see more about cinematography!
I don't know why I'm watching this. I've owned the lens for almost three years now and I use it for 90% of my shots. Love this lens so much, your review was great!
I've owned this lens for awhile and you've made me fall in love with it again , your music videos are incredible
Make more cinematography videos. I’m sure many of use would love to see those
I second this!
If Sigma ever release a full frame version of this lens (not the cine version mentioned) the world would be shaken to the core.
It exists, it is 24-35mm F2.
Well, Canon did just that and better. They released a full-frame 28-70 f/2 lens. World shaken.
@@chacmool2581 Yeah, but Sigma is affordable. Which can't be said about Canon
I clicked the video so fast because I thought it was full frame, world's still firm fam.
@@outoforder0 I've always wanted the 24-35.
One of the realest and best reviewers around. Gets right to the point and all the B-roll contains useful footage with no fluff. Great stuff Zed Pro Media. I use the Sigma 18-35 on the Panasonic S1 when shooting 4K60. The image quality and light gathering capability, especially at the price point, is just terrific. Such a useful lens. I also use this with the Fuji X-H1 and the Fringer adapter. The images are as sharp as the Fuji primes, but with the convenience of a zoom. It is heavy and longer than I would like, but that's the trade-off.
Such a great lens. For travel, however, it sure is a heavy one. Looking forward to picking one up again once the traveling is done and back in a studio setup.
So glad you did this review of this lens on a 5D mark IV and the tiffen filter. Literally had them both on my Amazon cart waiting to pull the trigger but wanted to see a review with the 5D. Awesome super helpful!
3 years after thid video, you just made me buy this lens. your so spot on details; most of reviewers didn't ! thanks a lot !
I bought this lens in 2018 for $450, it is the most amazing lens I have ever owned of its kind, in fact there is no other like it, I cant understand why there isn’t a million video reviews on how great this lens is?! I am so glad to see your review, I guess this lens will remain a little secret for a while longer. TX again Lou
Love the video man! Also would like to learn more about about the video work you do and DP work 🤘
Andre Banks same!
Yes show us more of your DP work brother! 😎👍
I used mines so much on my 60D back im 2013-2015, a big change on my overall wedding photos look. Great lens
I’m getting very close to getting this lens, and I think this video is just what I needed to double down on the idea. Amazing! Thanks Lee!
It's incredible, it's especially amazing on my C100. Also works amazingly well on the EOS R with adapter and crop mode!
I watched this and remembered I have an eos to nx adapter and tried it on my Samsung NX 500. Insanely sharp and a low light beast. You're right, I will never sell this lens, it works well on so many systems.
Just picked up this lens for my Canon 90D : ) I would definitely love to see some videos of you going over your DP work with this lens. It’s something I’m super interested in that I feel like no one really discusses on here so I hope you consider it. It was a great review thanks!
Thanks for your excellent review, I was looking one lens to attend to my need without spending too much money and now I found out the perfect one and I will definitely buy it. Good work man! 😎👊🏿
very good stuff, man. This channel deserves more love
I agree 100%. I have been using one for 3 years now and it is really sharp in any situation. ✌
Love the Sigma 18-35! Great video brother, would love to see some videos about your experience as a DP and what not.
My favorite lens. Glad i saved up for it. Its used on my little Canon M50 for all my work! 🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I got this lens about three months ago for my BMPCC4K. I absolutely love it. I've run into a couple UA-camrs who insist that it's too sharp for daylight shooting. Personally, I don't see it. But, if you want to "soften" the image, you can always add film grain in post and that's been known to soften the imagery. But, I love all of the footage I get out of it.
Does this lens help with the autofocus of the BMPCC at all?
Do you need an adapter to use this with the bmpcc 4k?
I'VE BEEN LOOKING AT REVIEWS ON AND OFF FOR MONTHS NOW AND OUT OF ALL THE REVIEWS I LOOKED AT, YOU REALLY SOLD ME ON IT!!!
I'M DEFINITELY GETTING IT NOW!!
IM MORE OF A VIDEO GUY THOUGH
Wow, I'm not aware that Sigma has this kind of lens. Thanks for the share, I'll check it myself 👍
I've been looking out for great camera channels for a few years now. You have 127k subs and I've only just found you. It's just frustrating and weird how UA-cam's algorithm hides awesome content from us.
Nice vid man! Diggin that filter too!
One of the first lenses I purchased when I got back into the hobby in 2015. Great quality lens and still use it today. May trade out my Canon 70D for a 90D to get more out of it.
It's great for photos, but you can't use for it for video (unless you want to always overlay a different audio) because of the loud autofocus motor which gets picked up by both the internal microphones and Rode mics as well. Had to return it for that reason.
I've just ordered one of those Tiffen filters! : )
The Guitar Club awesome. You’ll notice it more in back lit scenes
this video helps so much!! im looking for my next lens and this has been the most helpful video for this specific one!
Awesome vid bro! The bloopers in the end hahah
awesome dude!
this vid has been my influence on getting one for my bmpcc 4k!
Love that lens.
Brought it 2nd hand too from a friend shifting to FX. One thing i can share i will never sell it for sure...its a badass one xd
I've just put in my order for this lens..I can't wait to see what I can do with it!
2019 update is just what I needed! Thanks man!
Is it good for vlogs?
Bro, you are AMAZING first time looking at your channel and DAMN pure quality and really helpful advices, like, fav and subscribe!
Definitely interested in the cinematography aspect!!! Definitely make some videos about it please!
Completely agree! I just love the video image I get on this. Top Lens!
Just got this lens can’t wait to get some shots with it.
Nice video man 🔥 I got this Sigma a day ago and so much happy with it😎
This video was really nicely presented and well put together. Thank you
This is the best review I have ever seen for a lens, I have the sigma 35 art and I think I need to add this one to the mix.
Polly Crypto I’m selling this same lens!
Thanks, this review has helped me decide this is the lens I will purchase.
Thanks for the video Lee. I use this lens mainly on my BMPCC 6K. It does everything I want, even focussing works well on this camera / lens combination.
Do you need an adapter to use this with the bmpcc 4k?
Great to see you post something about this amazing lens. Your video with EF to Fuji sold me to do XT3 w/grip and this lens has my main setup. I do a lot of event shooting in low lens and this lens hasn't disappointed me. My only thing is wanting to see was it worth it to go to XT3 or XH1 for the IBIS.
Thanks for the video and your content keep it up!
Hi, I'm XT3 user. I consider the possibility to buy this lens with fringer adapter. I want to ask you, how the AF is working eith an adapter, and if there is some loose of lightpower due to adapter, is it still F1.8? Thank you in advance
@@nikolozchkhetiani5918 AF is pretty good. I only have a few misses but probably mostly user error at that rate.
Lightpower? It's a f1.8 why would it lose its aperture? It's apc lens on a apc sensor.
I do photography and I’m a film major....... I CANT WAIT TO GET THIS LENS
Thanks for reviewing this lens. Will be including this surely on my wishlist. 😁 Would love to use this on one of my future videos and tutorials! Nice one!
Joseph Tagle I’m selling this same lens!
I'm fairly new to photography as a hobby, and I am renting lenses to get a feel of various types/models before I make a purchase, and so far this is the best (affordable) one especially in low light...especially since I have not mastered flash photography just yet. Maybe in time I'll upgrade to an more expensive Canon professional L-series lens, but until then Sigma it is.
Side note, I just bought a Samyang 85 1.4 AF, and it's awesome, maybe you can do a review of that sometime too..will love to hear your thoughts on it.
It was the first expensive lens I bought, and yes! It's a game changer.
I can't imagine go out there without carrying this Sigma with me.
Can you use this lens for landscape photography?
It's funny, I know nothing about cameras or lenses but found ur video and thought, "I like his light set up" then saw ur a cinematographer for music videos!!!! I love that aesthetic. subscribed !
I have this lens since 2 years I buyed for my a6500 it's so fast af heavy and noise but incredible sharp Now also I buyed a7lll it didn't keep the quality but already it's very useful . It's a must have lens if you use sony apsc you have 1.8 form 18 to 35 with amazing af
Yes to more DP work. Even if it's just breakdowns. Would be so awesome.
The thing about it is that it is a little to good. I bought it used for about 350, mint condition about 2 years ago. That ment I had a bit over to spend. So I went for the Sigma 50-100 1.8 as a complement for ranged/portrait. The 18-35 is more useful for what I shoot so it stays on the camera like 90% of the time. Think that i'm gonna stick with my lenses for quite some time. I believe that the lenses has saved me from going through different camerahouses because the result is still so good. Doing my 6th year on 700d. (rebel t5i). Will probably go for a Sony or Fuji replacement next year. Recommend getting NISI Variable Neutral Density Filters for video to go wide open in lighter conditions. Personally will look deeper into the Tiffen Black Pro mist mentioned. Looks interesting!
I can't wait to make the most of this lens. Had it a while but I don't think I've been using to to it's best
man... incredible video... you back up your expertise so well! Awesome! I buy one! right now!
Gonna have to treat myself with one of these sooner or later!
Thank you my favorite lens!! Underrated
This was well done and super helpful. I saw this lens mentioned in a reddit post about the BMPC4K. I’m looking at that camera vs the A6600 and this lens has me really intrigued. Thanks.
This just popped up on my recommended cause I actually just ordered this with he MC-11 the other day for my Sony a6500! I’ve been debating it then I was working with a DP last week that had it on his RED and swears by it so I figured I might as well do it and then can keep it when I switch to RED or adapt it to whatever!
Hows the focusing I have sonya6500 and want it
Dude I watch many content creators especially in the space of photo- and videography, and you just now became my new favorite!
Also I am highly intersted in some videography content, and maybe tell a bit about your carrer and how you started out. Thanks!
Also you just made me feel better about my purchase, i ordered mine from eglobalcentral and got it for 550€ new! ef mount. nikon is a bit cheaper
The last week I am using it professional for concertphotography on my Fujifilm X-T3. Wish I did it much earlier. The lens is better than all the Fujifilm lenses.
I’ve had this lens for 2 years now and I take it everywhere with me and shoot with it all the time
Rockin' that sigma 18-35 on my 70D! Best perfomance/value for video and stills.
Nice vid!
I have it for my 70d too but autofocus is so unreliable.
Edvards i sent it to Sigma when i bought with my body and they fix the af with the dock
I too have one for my 70d but now upgraded to A7III planning to sell all my Canon lens except for this one. Will surely get an MC-11 soon. Love how it works....
@@abhinavashishaind I´m waiting for 90D, if this is a fail i rather to go for Fuji XT-3 or XH-2.
Hopefully it will not be a fail. I too was waiting for some good from Canon.
This Lens is dope 🔥🔥 Footage is crisp. Great video man
$799 in 2019, wow.. I just picked up this lenses for $600 brand new in Dec 2020. Awesome lenses! Nice video too
Great review! Please more cinematography videos and tips, your colors look great.
I just purchased this lense for my new Sony a6400 from B&H after seeing it demonstrated for UA-cam creators. It's a game changer I was blown away by the technology behind it. Sorry it was too late for your affiliate link. Paid $638 on sale at B&ah.
Definitely would like to see your music videos and if possible some BTS! Love the video man, thanks for including fuji and the adapter + review! Have a good day :)
I didn't have good luck with this lens. I used it with Canon T6 and had focusing issues. I adapted it to a Sony A7II and it was much better. With the T6 being an SLR, the issue was with the mirror and the lens focus calibration. I didn't have issues on the Sony due to it being mirrorless.
I use this lens on my GH5 + Metabones speedbooster, works great, if I was in the US with that current deal you mentioned I'd almost consider buying a backup one lol
Jarrod'sTech beautiful
Video convinced me to pick one up! Thanks dude!
You’re right .... this lens is a beast and I use it on a GH5 with an adapter which registers on my camera as F1.1 it’s doopppeeee !
bro i have this lens and i use it on my blackmagic camera and recently using it on my 5d mk2 at the 35mm range i have had it for almost 2 years one of the best purchased i have made
I love your content bro! I would like to ask what mm do you recommend for pro-mist filters on sigma 18-35mm f1.8 lens? Because it totally changes the feel to it when you put it! looking forward to hearing from you :)
Love your channel man! It would be great if you did some tutorials/videos on how to go about making music videos!!
Yes
Really interested also in the dp aspect ... would really love to see videos on it.
The lighting setup and the colors of the shots of you talking to the camera are so damn clean.
Michael Blaze thanks bro
You made me buy this lens! Thanks
I literally had my finger on the buy button, until I saw your video in the rain. Why isn't the adapter weather proof!! It's ALMOST the perfect lens for the X-H1.
Just picked it up new for $499 on a One Day Deal from Adorama. Have an 80D and a 5DM4 so looking forward to using it on both!
I just bought one the other day used for $500! I'm super excited to use it on my Pocket 4K
I just got this lens 2 weeks ago for 350 in good shape. I love it
I have that tiffen filter for my x100 and it's great stuff not that many people know about it in photo world
Many people say short focal range. Ok, 18-35 is not that long but the reason is the constant 1.8 aperture. A longer focal range would result in a variable or higher aperture. Indeed this lens combines at least 3 fast primes. On FF format 28, 35 and 50 mm. And the optical quality is even better than some primes. Great deal.
2021 update. still a beast lens. have mine for 9 months. i find myself reaching for this lens everytime
Hey man, quick question. It’s a dumb one, but I’m new to this whole lenses. But for the sigma 18-35mm, Does it matter what kind of style of lens I buy for it? Like the Canon, Nikon, or the pentax, Will they all work for the viltrox speed booster? I have the pocket 4k. I’m only asking to make sure.
@@lonnie3449 the glass will be the same, regardless of mount. you will get slight vignetting because of the booster
@@thepogsenpai1132 Okay, I see. Thank you so much. Again, sorry if that sounded like a dumb question. But yeah, just want to be clear, regardless of the different styles, same mount size right?
I bought this lens when it was first released and it has remained one of my favorites!
Great vid, definitely pinpointed my interest on this lens!
Well I'm convinced. Will be shooting with this lens on my trip to the dolomites!
Always loved this lense
Would love to see more content about cinema work
I found this lens for $390 the other day to replace my Sigma 18-50 2.8 HSN. Can't wait for it to arrive!
thats a crazy good price
Oooh bts light setup and shot placement. Subbed
Hoping for a refresh with better weather sealing!
Alright alright im gonna buy it lol i was on the edge between this and the nikon z 50mm 1.8 for my z50 and you got me with that BOMB footage from the music videos.
Yess you shot Taabu’s video! We danced on set. fantastic job!! New sub
