I am a 62 year old African American from the deep south. One of my fondest childhood memories is of me and my little brother tussling to sit next to my mother as we all watched the Carol Burnett Show. Nothing made my mother laugh harder. My mother always called her "Carol", like she knew her personally. That Gone with the Wind sketch is the best comedy sketch - comedy moment ever. Thank you, Carol. You have touched so many.
My favorite sketch! Still cracks me up all these years later.
I love your memories!
The gag with the curtain rod is so completely brilliant
That's fantastic 😊
My sisters and I used to LOVE watching "Carol" and the "Went With the Wind" sketch was the most hysterical thing I think I've ever seen. I actually have a folder on my UA-cam acct of my favorite Carol sketches. LOL
She is 91 in April! And still working?! She’s like Betty white, a treasure.
I did watch Carol Burnett every Thursday in the 70s for years. But I think Betty White is in a class of her own - from the start to the end of the TV age.
@wendigo53 we can have more than 1 treasure 🙂
Those two ladies together was pure fun.
Yes, she's 91 and still working. It is possible to age well!
@@JillKnapp absolutely!
I cried when she came out.... she means so much to so many, she raised a generation to laugh.
I completely understand. I get misty too whenever I see her!
Even at 91, her comic timing is unparalleled.
It's really fun seeing her playing off Colbert for laughs! Comic genius for sure.
Timing and even her facial expression .. how can anyone just not love this woman , even at her age she is quick and her memory is so on point .. I so much miss the sketch comedy never laughed harder than at some of her sketches with Tim Conway and the cast of her show 😂
I’m 70. Seeing Joe Biden, Carol Burnett, and my 95 year old MIL today, gave me optimism!
My thought is usually "Am I going to have to work that long too!?"
you're 70 and your MIL in 95?! i know it's often a thing, but my parents were in their late 20s and 30s when they had my sister and i was born when mom was 30 and dad was 40, so it's a bit of a shock to me folks still have time and energy to start a family that young TTwTT
_'Seeing'_ Corrupt old dementia-ridden Biden Crime Family Boss, "10% for the Big Guy" , Joe _'gave[you]optimism'_ ? God help us
@@Echo81Rumple83you’re the outlier ..it was much more common to start a family younger than later in life.. plus 25 is not young - it’s just the right age to start a family (not too young and not too old) .. I’m even more surprised that your older parents had the energy to start a family given that they were pushing middle age .. younger people had more zap and a lot more energy than older folks… I should know cause I’m 65
@@arlenecerf8833My mother was 35 and my father 45 when I was born! I was the accident but my parents were just legal teenagers when they married as most of that generation married right after high school!
Carol Burnett is a genius.
An absolute national treasure!
Indeed. They do not make them like that anymore. Of course, they never made them until Carol came along. ❤
Also totally genuine.
@@waynetaylor8082definitely!
@@waynetaylor8082that’s so right. 100% herself.
Carol Burnett, Vicki, Lawrence, Harvey Korman, Tim, Conway & Lyle Waggoner were wonderful during the 1970s with the Carol Burnett show… I have all on DVD and it always brings me joy to watch them. Thank you all!
😍
Tim's "The Elephant Story" will go down in history as one of the funniest bits ever.
Those shows made me laugh harder than anything ever 😂😂😂 the comedy is timeless
They had a chemistry on stage that I really feel that nobody else has since matched in all of TV history….
Carol Burnett gave us the funniest moment in the history of television. I am so glad to have grown up with her show as part of my life.
The GWTW green velvet curtain dress!!! 😂😂😂
Carol Burnett is the quintessential comedy genius... I will never stop loving her
Fabulous to see and hear Carol Burnett again after such a long time.
She was in the last season of Better Call Saul, she had a fantastic story arc, she totally stole the show. Such a talented and fantastic actress.
Carol Burnett is an ICON!!!!
I love her so much.
I loved the way that Tim Conway would say: "Mrs. Huh-Wiggins!"
Those sketches were HILARIOUS! My favorite was the fire drill one, w/her in that ridiculous skirt, trying to crawl on all fours!"
No wonder she did the ear thing to signal to her Grandmohter: they went through so much together, clearly she meant the world to her.
😍
that was one of my all-time favorite too and the way Tim Conway said her name cracks me up still today I also love the one that she walked down the stairs wearing the curtain rod and drapes my grandma and I would laugh like crazy every time this show came on till tears were running down our faces
@loriezuberka4569 Lmao Yes, the Gone with the Wind sketch.. "I saw it in the window and just couldn't resist it" 🤟😂
My best friend and I used to act out the skits in grade school! I was Mr. Tudball....🙂
@@tamarabuxton2516 seeing her today brings back so many happy memories and every memory brings on another one she was brilliant in everything she did
"Mrs, a-Whiggins would you a-get in here!
"I'm sorry Mr. Tudball, I'm very busy. I've got pencils to sharpen."
Man, Carol Burnett is from a generation that's almost gone from this world. She's a comedic genius. The Carol Burnett show made me laugh into tears with Harvey Korman and Tim Conway.
On the off chance Carol reads comments, I hope she sees how much people still love her.
She is such an Icon in comedy. I adore Carol and have been a fan the moment I watched her show!
Normally, the words "icon" and "iconic" make my teeth hurt bc they're so overused and hyperbolic. I detect not one bit of hyperbole here 🙂
She is such a natural talent, her comedic timing is perfect. I can only hope to ever be this sharp.
I have admired and adored Carol Burnett since I was a child and these sentiments have not dimmed.
Such a joy to see this wonderful woman again.
I love Carol.....an amazing lady who made our lives so much more fun.
Thanks Stephen for having Carol Burnett, a true living legend, on. I’m so glad we had this time together… ❤
Thank you so much, Carol, for all the laughter in my childhood. I couldn't wait for your show to come on every week, it was my grandmas and my favorite show. I still watch it now. I loved hearing these stories.❤ thanks for the memories
*Carol Burnett* a true treasure in this world!
History speaks. Legend.
Carol looking amazing at ninety-one. She also did a great recent job on Better Call Saul.
Thank you, Carol. We owe you much.
Amazing Carol could become any character you dress her in.
Life would have been much more boring if we hadn't had this wonderful lady when growing up. Thanks Carol, love from all.
She is still so sharp. It makes me so happy.
Carol is a class act, one of the funniest comedians! Waited for her show to come on every week. “I’m SO GLAD we had that time together!” Thanks, Carol! You’re a treasure. Read her autobiography!
The curtain rod dress she wore for the _Went With the Wind_ sketch is now enshrined at the Smithsonian.
Oh, Carol, how wonderful to see you again dearest hero
Carol is great in palm Royale. She steals every scene she's in.
Our lives are richer because of Carol❤
Love Carol Burnett ❤
91 years old!! What a star.
So glad Carol Burnett taught us that if your gonna suffocate someone with a pillow make sure they don't have an oxygen line running up their nose..only she could of pulled that one off and did! I love her as much as I miss Lucille Ball..wish she would of mentioned her yet glad she brought up the humor of politics! Colbert needed that for the times he's had to pull us through while laughing at death in the face! 😊 Be a good human today!
She's classy and classic. Love Carol.
Icon! And sharp as a tack! What a treasure chest of stories!!! Great interview!
A conversation with a icon like Carol Burnett, priceless. ❤ she made me laugh when I was a child. Thats something you don't forget.😊
Those were cool stories!! I could listen to Carol Burnett's stories all day!!! Protect Her At All Cost!!!! 😍🥰😘
What a fabulous woman. Still classy and funny.
I could have listened to Carol’s stories for another few hours. She is awesome!
Carol Burnett and my Mom were birthday twins... my Mom always took pride in telling us they shared the same birth day 4/26. I remember watching the show and laughing hysterically as kids. My brother used to mimic Tim Conway. We all came together around the TV back then. To this day seeing Carol always takes me back to those warm feelings.
🎵 I'm so glad we've had this time together... ❤❤❤😊
I was born in '64, so the show was very much a part of my life. I recall being a little too young to say awake through the second half hour, partly because that's usually when the movie parody that was over my head was on. I do fondly recall the "Paaat-syyy" one, whatever that was a parody of, and of course "Went With the Wind!"
I’ll be damned,,that’s my mom’s birthday too.She would turn 105 this year.
@@roberthansen6001 my Mom would be 88 this year. ❤
@@lorinichols1847 I was born in '64 too! It was always that last long commercial break that got me. I'd fall asleep every time!!
@@LauraMe... Exactly!
What a complete joy listening and watching Carol Burnett!❤
I don’t know that it’s only the nostalgia, she is still wonderful and that shines through!
❤
I’d LOVE to see the clip of the Johnny Carson show she mentions!
She's such a joy to watch!
Carol Burnett is a true star. Loved her In everything she was in. Beginning with the Gary Moore show.
Carol Burnett, GOAT. She is a living legend. I absolutely love her.
Hail to the Queen
I freakin LOVE Carol Burnett!
I watch old TV shows. Typically, they're a guilty pleasure--shows that would never make it to market today--but I can watch old Carol Burnett Show sketches 'til the cows come home, and they're still genuinely hilarious. Who could ever forget "Went with the Wind", and Carol literally wearing the curtains, complete with curtain rod? I am so grateful for all the laughter this wonderful lady has brought into my life.
Wow Carol Burnett is a Real LEGEND, The Best.
Carol is my hero ..love this woman's comedy!!
I adored the Carol Burnett Show a family time of sorts. That was back when you had to travel on all fours through 10 feet of shag carpet to get to the picture in a wooden box to manually change the channel & tune in the anntena with a directional roter device. 💕 love, love Carol and the way she tugged on her ear. The days of innocence when you could leave your door unlocked all day & night until you went to bed of course. Good interview.
Hey, the roter was an improvement. Before that, your parents would make you go HOLD the antenna in the right position, and they’d yell at you when you tried to move to see the TV yourself! 😂😂😂
Kind of the last of her generation of entertainers and comediennes. Legend!
Her comic timing and delivery remains perfect!
Carol Burnett is still a national treasure.
A skit between these two would be amazing.
This is a skit, you effin tool
Good idea.
LEGEND!!!!!!❤❤❤❤
When I think of her and costumes of course I think of that curtain-rod fancy dress in Went With the Wind - "I saw it in the window and I just couldn't resist it".
I'm going to have to add this to my watch list.
Just watching the old Carol Burnett Show the other day - still funny 50 years on!
Carol is a national treasure. ♥️♥️
The memories just come flooding back
Truly a National Treasure. I grew up watching her fantastic show. Thank you Carol for Everything.
I could listen to her all day! She is fabulous! So so talented.
"Eunice" is her masterpiece of characterization!😂
Carol Burnett is an icon! She can do anything, and she is a good soul. Period.
This lady has made me laugh for decades. I love her! 😅
Another gem we boomers got to witness first hand. We lived for the Carol Burnett show!!!
You made us laugh so many times! Cheers 🥂 Carol ❤.
Going to break out my DVD collection and start watching from Season 1 to the finale
She's very entertaining. I could listen to her stories for hours.
Carol is a national treasure. Period.
I’ve spent my life watching Carol Burnett! I just love her!
We love you Carol! You are n have always been the best! ❤
I think it's fantastic that Carol Burnett is still working at 90, and doing roles against type in recent years! She's as witty as ever, and looks fantastic. It's nice to see someone looking elegant instead of tacky. It was great to see her last yr on PBS' "Finding Your Roots", where she was very open, without bitterness, about her difficult childhood.
She is a goddess! I can’t wait to see her new show 💖💖💖
What a classy lady!
CAROL BURNETT!!! 🥰💃💖🌹😍😄😁✌️🌹🌹🌹🌹 You go girl! Mom and I will now have to subscribe to Apple TV+. We can't wait to see you again.
The world needs more of people like these two! I'm grinning from ear to ear!
I love Carol Burnett 💖 Tim Conway, Vicky Lawrence and Harvey Korman were so funny!!!🤣😂😅
Ohh sweet sigh....Carol Burnett is beautiful. Just pure perfection. 💐💐🌹 🥰🇨🇦
My favorite costume of Carol's was from a skit where she played Scarlett O'Hara. In the novel, Scarlet had a gown made of her home's draperies. In the skit, Carol's outfit was a luxe thing with the curtain rods still in it, across the shoulders, and fringe from the hem still part of the look. Hysterical!
OMG, how fantastic she is at 91 (in April)! How many decades has she made us laugh!💖🥰
Carol Burnett is a national treasure.
For real, well written and acted comedy find The Carol Burnett Show videos, specially those with Tim Conway and Harvey Korman, classics to make you laugh until you cry. Very recommended: Went With The Wind, a perfect Gone With a Wind parody 😂😂😂😂, and The Dentist. 😂😂😂😂
91 next month ❤ She's quick as always 😊
I hope I live that long 😏
Tim Conway & Harvey Korman with Carol Burnett were a riot 📺🤣😅
❤ Carol Burnett!
Amazingly talented woman! Legend❣
A rare classic.
Yeah, but Carol coming down the stairs dressed as Scarlet O'Hara in curtains with rods sticking on the sides is her utmost outfit!!! Love her!
I still fall apart laughing at clips from her show on UA-cam. Can you even imagine how we reacted seeing her on tv for the first time?
Carol said the villains are the most fun to play. I remember her in Annie as the wicked orphanage matron.
Carol will always be an icon to be! I have been delighted to be able to watch reruns of her show. They are still as funny today as they were the first time around!
It brings me joy just to see her still here and kicking! She is the best.
Bob Mackey and Carol Burnett started my life long hobby of designing my own clothes and Hallowe’en costumes. I can not begin to express how much of my being was shaped by this woman!!!
Carol had THE single greatest costume in all of television. "I saw it in the window..." :)
“… and I just had to have it” 😂😂😂 Possibly the single funniest moment in TV history EVER!
Who doesn’t LOVE Carol?? She is charm personified💕
As long as Carol Burnett is alive and working, all is right with the world.
She still makes me cry... it's just me and my parents and sister behind a B&W TV. tuning into her skits with Tom Conway as if life depended on that hour. If there is any funny left in me, it's because of her, and other great comics and comedic actors of my day.
She's great. Nice interview by Mr. Colbert. He treated her with such respect. Nicely done. Thank you for sharing.
OMG I LOVE CAROL SO MUCH...the funniest lady ever. The Carol Burnett shows would literally make me cry laughing so hard. You have to checkout MAMAS FAMILY
