If Betty White was America's Grandma, Carol is America's cool aunt.
Lucille Ball, Carroll Burnett, Betty White, all 3 outstanding comediennes.
@@user-sz9ur4pl9e And let's not forget Gilda Radner!! ❤
Betty would have had a variety show for longer if she didn’t stand up for the black actor she had in her show.
@@chrissy5291 a victim of the times, jim crow still in effect in the 1950's. until recently, who won that battle?
They played sisters so carol might be the great aunt
Class act! She and my grandpa, lennie weinrib, went to college together and possibly acted together later. When he died, she sent a bouquet to the memorial service.
OMG that is too sweet........She is a lot like Colbert and comes across as genuine.......I was to young when her show was on but I am watching the classics from her show now. Type in Carroll Burnett show shortned version of Gone with the Wind......It was clever and funny at the same time.
My most sincere condolences...
Wow, that was so kind of her. Class act indeed!
@@karenmbbaxterThat’s a classic sketch! I’m older and remember watching it a while ago. It’s always funny no matter how many times you see it.
@@beachvacay3184"I saw it in the window, and I just had to have it." The drapery dress has to be the best costume Bob Mackie ever came up with -- and he came up with some real doozies!
Wow, what a breath of fresh air!
Her show was probably the most watched program in our household.
It’s joyful to see she’s still with us, and doing so well.
Stephen speaking facts on Carol's variety show being the best variety show of all time.
Remember she would tug on her ear for a loved one? Too precious! ❤️
What about The Muppet Show?
@@GGoAwayyA comic says funny things. A comic actor says things funny. A muppeteer says things fuzzy.
People always reference Lucille Ball as their inspiration in comedy but this lady is genius. Carol has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. ❤
Lucille Ball thought highly of Carol
Ball was a talented genius though. There are some physical stunts she does in later episodes of The Lucy Show that amaze me... like the one where she's on stilts getting up to eat potato chips on a bunk bed.
I was honored to work with Carol Burnett in 1992 when I was an Assistant Editor on THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW. Carol won an Emmy for her hilarious Guest Star Performance with Garry Shandling. The giant air conditioner unit on our Sound Stage was broken & the Producer asked me to sit with Carol for an hour in the Production Truck outside (with had A/C). I got to talk to Carol for a long time & it was a thrill. She is down to earth and sweet. Carol went to the UCLA Theater Department & was happy I did too (& my late friend actress Eleanore Tanin was Carol’s schoolmate & Carol said “tell Elly I send my love”).
I absolutely love Carol Burnett. Grew up watching her with my parents & Grandma every week. Such wonderful memories! She is so talented & seems like such an amazing individual. 💜
Such an amazing lady! And what a gift all these years of laughter have been. And the poignant moments, too. Thank you, Madame Burnett!
Bravo. She's pure gold. She looks wonderful. She's given us countless hours of joy & laughter. Recently replayed her iconic "Gone with the Wind" curtain dress scene, and laughed like a lunatic, although I've seen it 50 times.
History speaks. Legend.
So nice to see the wonderful Carol Burnett. A special memory is watching the Carol Burnett Show with my grandmother, who adored her.
She is flat out amazing ❤
National Treasure!!!😊
I'm not generally a 'hero worship' kinda guy, but man.. I'd just about worship her. Comedy would be 100 years behind the curve without her contribution.
I remember hearing my neighbors down the street laughing so loud when the Carol Burnett Show was on. So talented, never forget her performance from Gone With The Wind, wearing a curtain as her dress and the curtain rod straight across the shoulders, lol, too funny. We love you Carol!❤️👍
That dress is on display at the Smithsonian.
Wow, it was a winning combination, lol, just didn't know it was that much of a winner.
Thanks
We all love her
Although I enjoyed the comedy on the Carol Burnett Show as much as anyone, there is so much more to her than comedy. She is a wonderful singer who did terrific duets with people with Steve Lawrence and Julie Andrews. She has done wonderful acting in films like "Pete & Tillie". So it bugs me a little when all the attention goes on the comedy on the variety show.
Ms. Burnett was terrific in “Pete & Tilly” and also the made for tv movie “Friendly Fire.” She can do it all, comedic and dramatic acting, singing and dancing.
Protect Carol Burnett at All Cost!!!! 😍😍🥰🥰😘😘
Carol Burnett = National treasure.
Along similar lines., a few episodes in, Andy Griffith pulled the producer aside aside and said that they needed to make him the straight man and let Don Knotts have the big laughs.
Maybe the all time great of straight men 😂. Certainly of his generation. The one in my own generation who is that good a straight man is Jason Bateman.
TO THIS DAY, I cannot hear Carol Burnett's name without remembering the "Siamese Elephant" sketch! Corpsing taken to an artform in itself!
Absolutely LOVE ❤️ her! She looks amazing
That generous attitude from Garry Moore enabled Carol to recognize the advantages of having such great comedy actors working along with her, allowing people like Vicky Lawrence, Harvey Korman and specially Tim Conway shine in their roles was a brilliant strategy, not mentioning that you could hear Carol laughing her lungs out from the backstage while watching them performing.
“ I have good news for you…” no better example of Mr. Colbert’s genius, kindness, generosity, selflessness, humility. As for Miss Burnett, no words, describe adequately her contribution to culture, the arts, entertainment. 🌞🫶🏼🤸🏽♂️
I love Carol, I love CAROL BURNETT 💖🎵🎬🎼🎨
I tried to never miss an episode of The Carol Burnett Show. People say I look like her. I wish I had her personality as she is incredibly charismatic and funny.
made my childhood great
I'm so glad we had this time together. Just to share a laugh and sing a song... Tug your ear Carol.
I grew up with Carol Burnett and her variety show. Watched it every week. I love her so much.
She is royalty..and was surrounded by great comedic actors too ❤❤❤
I'm in my feels cuz seeing her brings back childhood memories watching her show with my family...I still lol when I watch the bloopers 🖤💛🖤💛
She is LEGEND.
Such a magnificent thinker, performer, and humanist - hard not to see the love going both ways between audience and artist.
She is as sharp as ever!
Dearest carol ❤❤ thank u dear stevey
A fantastic ensemble on Carol Burnett Show. I watched it regularly during my childhood.
As a child, I always looked forward to and watched the Carol Burnett Show. I still love her! 🥰
I can't stop watching!
Legend ❤
Omg shes an ICON. She looks incredible ❤
One of the GOATs🔥
I adore this woman.....Her classics from The Carol Burnett show are still on UA-cam.......Type in Gone With the Wind.......The 20 minute shortened version.
Pluto TV has a 24 hour channel of her
It was called " Went with the Wind ".☺
She’s so wonderful. It makes me happy and a little sad to watch her. My mom was a big fan, and would’ve been the same age she is now.
Carol Burnett is a nation's treasure...
It seems every star past or present is called legend or icon in the news today. CAROL BURNETT is one of the very few who actually ARE! ALWAYS loved her and she looks fantastic!
Work out is a bit of an understatement Stephen , 😂 what an amazing career she has had and so much joy she has given us all along the way !!! Thank you Mrs Burnett for all the years of laughter 😂❤
National treasure! While she was talking here my brain started singing her signature sign off song and then I remembered her tearing up when she sang it for her last show and now I have to stowe away these damned onions sitting on my kitchen counter. Grrrrr. 💚
Carol Burnett is a comedy / variety show legend! She is also a trailblazer for women comics - The Carol Burnett Show was revolutionary. God bless you, Carol. *ear tug* *Tarzan yell*
I can't think about her variety show without remembering the times Harvey or Tim would be reciting a line and those not speaking were practically turning blue, holding their breaths, trying not to laugh.
What was unique about the Carol Burnett show is that she never had vulgar or mean skits. She didn't hurt people with sarcasm like the male comedians did... Bob Hope comes to mind. The exception to that comment is her skits where Vicki Lawrence was Mama. Eunice was hysterical. The cast played off one another brilliantly!
She didn't just say things funny, her whole being, every look, every costume, every gesture, every walk, would be funny. Love her and her quick wit along with such gifted comics that she worked with, were brilliant.
I think she was a comedic genius. The Carol Burnett show was hysterical and I watched it all the time when I was younger. Tim Conway was so funny that a lot of the times they had to cut the filming while the other actors composed themselves because they were all just cracking up, which is evidenced now in the episodes archives when they would break script and laugh and laugh
Holy Cow Carol Burnett is still alive! So happy.
I'm 63 and when I'm cutting up I still mimic Carol!!! Her comedy's become a part of who I am I watched her so much for so many years! She's one of the funniest people in showbiz! I love you Carol, thank you for the millions of laughs!! ❤
In his autobiography, Mel Blanc quoted another actor who made the same statement about Jack Benny: instead of saying funny things, he said things funny.
Ed Wynn was the laughing uncle in Mary Poppins
I remember watching this and mary tyler moore on Saturday nights as a kid
This lady had us laughing for years. Her facial expressions were so funny. Loved her show ❤
A staple if my childhood was Ms Burnett! I watch her show on UA-cam now. Thank Goodness for UA-cam!
i remember her on The Gary Moore Show. The 1st time she did a secretary that was (drunk or drugged) having trouble using her pencil, trying to pick it up off the desk, rolling it, back & forth. Hilarious.
Maybe it's just me, but here's the difference between Carol's show and all the other variety shows that I can think of. If I watch Dean Martin, or Bob Hope, or Bing Crosby or Perry Como or Dinah Shore or Jack Benny today, I ask myself what I thought was so great about them 50 and 60 years ago. I have kicked myself for buying DVD's of some of them, assuming I would love them, as I did then.
The Carol Burnett Show is still funny. It might have something to do with the combination of varied segments (after all, a variety show) without becoming a series of unrelated vaudeville acts, and eclectic humor that was unmatched anywhere. As she pointed out, it was important for her to have a stable repertory company on whose strengths the writers could build a show every week.
For decades, I have desperately looked for a scene with Carol and Harvey in which a couple goes through something like a Stan Freberg "John and Marsha" gamut of emotions, except the whole script, instead of being "John." "Marsha." "John." "Marsha." consists entirely of the word "Oh," repeated dozens of times, which along with the intonation and body language, told the whole story. I have never run into it since I remember seeing it at the time. Have never seen it listed in any compilation of descriptions of episodes, so that I would know which episode look for. I always wanted to show it to my students to demonstrate how important intonation, facial experession and body language usually are in conveying the message the words carry.
PS Kinescopes of Ed Wynn's comedy show of the early 50's don't make me laugh. But you will never find a better supporting performance than Wynn's in the TV drama _Requiem for a Heavyweight_ . He was nominated for an Emmy, after it was thought before the broadcast that he couldn't pull off a live dramatic performance. You can watch the drama on UA-cam and see for yourself.
Love her!❤
I remember! Our family looked forward to Carol every week! Tim Conway and Harvey Korman were so funny 😂
I loved that interview with Carol Burnett, what a gem. Also the one before with Liam Neeson. Getting to the age now that I am looking up my old favorites to see what they are doing now and if they are still alive.
I missed the introduction but said to myself, is that Carol Burnett? Yes, how amazing. Sharp as a whip and I agree wholeheartedly to what she said about the difference between a comic and a comedian.
She makes me cry from laughing so hard. Watching her now I’m crying because time goes by so quickly.
Wow she looks good! So glad she's still with us, and starring in Palm Royale! We watched her show faithfully as kids and I loved how they were having such a good time and laughing along with the gags, a new concept at the time. She's one of my all-time icons. Mwah! 💕
I cannot believe I was just 7 yrs old crying w laughter watching Carol on her hit variety show and 50 yrs later, not only is she still acting, she's along side Kristin Wiig making me laugh harder than ever 5 decades later, she is STILL the hottest thing on tv!! She's the living end.
I LOVE YOU CAROL ♥️❤️♥️
Carol Burnett had the funniest cast on her show- if you could not laugh watching it, look around you may be dead.
Loved her since growing up to her variety show. Always an inspiration... for 100 reasons, and now for aging well. Can't believe how sharp she is at 90.
She's a class act!!❤❤❤❤
Substance, class, wit, humility, pizazz... what a lady.
Love you Carol!
Absolutely Amazing Women. ❤🎉❤🎉
For reference, Ed Wynn played Uncle Albert, the funny guy who levitated near the ceiling while he laughed, in Mary Poppins.
Ed Wynn was very popular. Most of us know him as the voice of the Mad Hatter. You get to see him in both the Gnomemobile (the king) and Mary Poppins (Uncle Albert).
I loved the Carol Burnett show.
Delightful!
Class Act Ms. Burnett was total class and is a humanist expert.
Love this woman !
Legend! ❤
90 years rockin'
I've loved physical comedy my whole life because of Carol Burnett and later John Ritter!
How wonderful. Glad she still has it.....
Man my whole family would gather for the Carol Burnett Show.
What a treasure.....
A National Treasure!
Pluto TV has a 24 hour channel of the Carol Burnett show
Carol for President.
I grew up watching CB as a kid, and I am going on 69. WHAT an icon!! Truly an amazing woman of our times.
If it helps: Ed Wynn was Keenan Wynn's father, and is best known for his appearance on The Twilight Zone episodes "One For The Angels" and "Ninety Years Without Slumbering."
What a great lesson!
90 years old. 90!
Thats apart of (Old American Slang)="Second Banana!"
Thank you for the three minute video!
And alllllll ❤❤❤
Yep!❤
Carol looks great. It makes me sad that Lucille Ball is gone. They are my favorite comedians. They were best friends. 🥰🥰😂😂❤️❤️🌹🌹
Omg ❤❤😂😂 so interesting ❤❤ again another dear lady whose voice exaclty like dear louise hay and dear dr. Patricia ❤❤❤ perfect
Ed Winn was a terrific character actor. Among other things, he was starred in two of the greatest of the original "Twilight Zone" episodes. His son Keenan Winn was a couple of the greatest Twilight Zone episodes as well. father and son were both great actors in both comedy and drama.
Ed Wynn was quite the normal mans Clown around.
