Nice video, easy to follow and nice greasable kit to purchase.
Thanks for watching!
You started with the drag link at the pitman already done. It’s the hardest part of disassembly. Came here to find a trick for that. 😕
I've heard people just buying a new pitman arm since it's so difficult to mess with.
Yeah it is a real pain sometimes to remove the pitman arm and tie rods from the drag link assembly. That is why I opted just to buy a kit to replace it.
I bought the MOOG kit like it already great set up
Yeah it make the job a lot easier.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
The tow adjustment sleeve on the tie rod was seized and couldn’t be adjusted I had to replace the entire thing including the drag link
Yeah same thing here. By the time you are done messing around with all of that stuff it is easier to replace all on it.
question: should we be torquing these nuts to spec? I'm doing the upper and lower outer tie rods. I read 160ft-lb somewhere
it should be to 55 ft/lbs for the all 5 nuts. Hard part is sometimes the cotter pin holes doin't line up as a result.
Yes, You should torque all of the nuts to spec.
Thanks for the reply.
I have a 2014 jeep Wrangler sport with a 4 inch lift. Do you think the kit will work with a lift? I need to replace both of mine
It should
It did thanks
One of my tie rods ends failed I bought the lower tie rod. I had to purchase everything separately so I think I spent more money than buying the kit but I got it in and the string is so much stronger. I don’t have alignment tool, so I have to take it in
The darn tie rod at the pitman arm broke off this one while my daughter was driving it. Thank god she was going slow when it happened. I don't like to cheap out on steering components..it's not worth it. That is why I gutted everything and replaced all of it.
Also, I have a manual transmission for some reason the overdrive off light went on after I put in both drag links and track bar centered the axle and aligned it. The light went off and stayed off one of those weird things.
I took it to get in an alignment The tow adjuster was seized. They pounded on it, trying to move it with a sledgehammer damaging my steering damper, which was brand new and it cost more than I wanted to. It was high-end so now I’m going for the dual steering damper set up.
Steering hitches it feels like the dampeners got given it I checked it didn’t seem like it at first when I checked again, seem to have weakness
This says it will fit a JEEP JK AND JKU, but follow the link and enter your vehicle.....it says it does not fit?? I have a 2017 Jeep Chief Edition JKU. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
Either the part fitment is not updated to include your Jeep or it is a different design. You may want to check another source.
That’s the truth
Thanks for checking out our Jeep drag link replacement video.
Question. Why use the whole kit can't you just buy the ends separately.
Yes you can buy the tie rod ends separately, Since everything was the same age up front I wanted to replace all of it.
Jesus this just happened to me thank God I was going about 10 mph when I tried to turn scared the shit out of me . This should be a recall for all jeeps. Or at least have a fix / safety bracket so you have some kind of warning
Oh boy! This is my daughter's Jeep. Glad you're okay. We rebuilt the whole front end on it.
No torque wrench?
You can use a torque wrench when putting everything back together.
Need to have a Real Alignment done from a reputable Alignment shop or your tires will be junk in 6 months
We aligned it with a tow bar it's fine. 1/2 of the tire shops lie and never align the vehicles you bring in, we have caught them doing this.
Huh?
