Don’t forget that a Barnes4WD and 7SlotCustoms offer 10% off using the code JKgear. Perfect time to install a raised Steering Stabilizer Bracket to prevent it from getting hit on the trail. amzn.to/2AjGU3h
JK Gear and Gadgets prolly long shot if you see this but I put synergy tierods on my 17jku and roughly 10months ago. I had a shop align it now I can get under there and wiggle my bar back and forth. My steering wheel is starting to have a bounce back when I slightly turn left or right now. My cooper stt pro are starting to wear every other lug. Any feedback much appreciated.
I don’t have side to side play only back towards the rearend and to the front of the jeep. Just didn’t know if that was causing my steering to wanna jerk back when I change lanes. Synergy track bar is tight. This weekend putting on dual steering stabilizer see if that would help. Watch all your videos man love them! Thank you for reply!
Thanks for this video. I need to replace my tie rod and was just going to go back stock. But for a few more dollars I can get the Barns. I know it will be over kill with me just running 33’s, but I guess it can’t hurt. Please keep the videos coming.
Doetsch offroad makes an aluminum tie rod and flip drag link that's also aluminum for 400 bucks !! If you get either or there only 200 bucks and there 1 tons as well with I believe lifetime warranty
That is some solid bang for your buck. Do the ends flop much? I have a synergy and it has soo much movement that it cuts out my hydro for a second when I change direction while is flops. Also teh boots on the Synergy come off constantly.
So far I haven’t noticed much flop (but it’s been one day lol) I know synergy has a ton of flop and the bends in the tie rod make it worse since it sticks out so far.
Nice! See how it goes. New tie rod has been on my to do list for a while. I Just hate spending money on parts to replace parts i've already bought once lol.
I love the look of this.My Sahara is stock on 35s but it does have a 4 inch lift. Can install this on my Jeep or do i have to upgrade to 1 Tons? Looking forward to hearing from you
It depends, chromoly is reallllly hard to bend, but if you do then it’s bend for good. The good thing about aluminum is that it will bend if you hit it but bend straight back
Great video and I love your channel and product influence. I just bought one for my 2007 JK Sahara. Question....If the endpoints fit, do I still need to drill out the C?
Steel tie rods are a good upgrade, but when you do hit something hard or land on a rock it will eventually bend. The good thing about aluminum is that it will bend just like a steel one, but it will bend right back to normal. I’ve had to bend my steel tie rod back with my winch way too many times. If you were to buy an upgraded tie rod then aluminum is the way to go.
Thanks for all of your videos. They are very helpful with my obsessive research. A question for you. Are you still running the Barnes 4x4 aluminum tie rod? If so, would you recommend going aluminum for both the toe rod and drag link? Looking at the Barnes and Fusion. Not sure I should stick to chromoly. Thanks.
Hey man that jeep is sick, I have a quick question. What backspacing are you running, and do you experience any rubbing? Also, what amount of lift do you have?
Thanks man! And 3.75” backspacing with 4.5” lift. Right now I only rub a little with the 40s and it’s on the frame at full turn, 3.5” backspaced wheels would help that, but it’s not bad at all
I just bought an aluminum tie rod and the end locking nuts that keep the rod from spinning keep coming loose no matter how hard I tighten them. Any suggestions?
@@JKGearandGadgets awesome thank you, I called the company (doetsch off-road) and they suggested the exact same thing. They said use blue loctite because it’s medium strength. Just got an alignment and tightened everything more
I prefer this kit, you save some money, get the benefits of aluminum, and if you ever hit a big rock your not transferring the shock load into your knuckles or steering box. Plus it looks cooler 😂🤘
JK Gear and Gadgets I am leaving towards doing this one. My only concerns are how the ends compare tot he ones Steer Smarts uses. I can’t seem to find which ones they use.
That’s another good thing about the Barnes kit. They use the GM 1 ton ends, so if they ever break it is easy and cheap to replace them. Instead of trying to find steersmart replacements
Ok I have a question, do you need to drill out the knuckle? I’ve been hearing both answers. If you buy the tie rod could I just bolt it on or will the ends not slide in??? Thanks
JK Gear and Gadgets thanks for the quick reply! Just now writing out torque specs and a quick sheet to look off of and I’m off to install the tie rod/drag link kit, new steering stabilizer + relocation bracket!
I have a question. I got the tie rod and the Drag link also. My question is the aluminum drag link has no curve in it like the stock one has. It’s just straight. Is that going to work.
How do you feel about the aluminum tie rod after having for a while. I keep getting mixed messages. Some say in the long run it's not reliable, others say they haven't seen issues but are biased, as they are the manufacturer.
@@JKGearandGadgets 😂 my thoughts exactly. I've been researching and it didn't add up. I'm glad I brought it up to you before not moving forward. Definitely purchasing then. Thanks!
Yes. As long as the ram is parallel with the tie rod you won’t have any issues with the ram bending the tie rod. Most people that have an issue with aluminum and Hydro assist have it incorrectly setup. Need to make sure the ram is on a flat and unangled plane, and set the tie rod clamp all the way back while the tie rod is rotated (tie rod flop) all the way forward, which will keep the ram and tie rod in a centered state.
I just talked to them about it, they raised it to 295 and are now offering free shipping. Price of metal has raised. Honestly by the time you get free shipping the price only increase by a small amount

Wat it does really for the Jeep ? Does it make it a smooth ride ? Eliminate death rubble
Did Barnes 4wd ever get back to you about needing washers before the castle nut
Most people don’t need them, must have just been my knuckles 🤷♂️
Mine did the same. After torquing down to 40 foot pounds the hole was past the castle nut. I guess I'll be stacking washers like you did.

When will the drag link flip be available?
Barnes said it should be fairly soon!

295$ the price must have went up
This tie rod is 1.5 inches. Can I run the teraflex falcon nexus 2.2 stabilizer which has a mount for 1 3/8 inch and 1 5/8 inch?
What are your thoughts on adding the falcon 2.2 steering stabilizer? I see the bracket only comes in 1 3/8 and 1 5/8.
What is the width of just the aluminum rod? Trying to find out if I could use this in a custom application.

I just bought an aluminum tie rod and the end locking nuts that keep the rod from spinning keep coming loose no matter how hard I tighten them. Any suggestions?
A dab of loctite. Or tighten them more, use a very large adjustable (huge), or a crows foot. It should be well over 100ft pounds

Is the mount that you linked to what you use for your hydro assist?
No, that is what I used before I went to hydro assist, you will want to weld on the hydro assist mounting tabs
You could possibly weld that mount onto the axle, but by welding on tabs it allows you to set your ram wherever you want it
How do you weld steel to an aluminum tie rod
Jeffrey Wheeler ohh.. no lol. The link in the video is to the axle side bracket. I didn’t put a link to the tie rod clamp, it’s from PSC
