First time I heard this song was driving to work with my sister, back in the 90's when this song came out. I fell in love with it and the whole album. Darren Hayes has such a smooth voice. Note of trivia: He was an English teacher. The name of the band is a literary reference. They are from Australia.
Love hearing when others are Anne Rice fans! Was wondering about their name since I was deep into the vampire chronicles at the time. So glad I was right!!
Savage garden-I knew I loved you
Love all of Savage Garden songs!!
yes every single one is great
"Using symbols, using words can be likened to a deep-sea diver who is swimming with a raincoat" - some of the best lyrics ever written, in my humble opinion.
If you know all the lyrics to this song consider yourself a level 42 warrior.
I remembered more than I thought I would. You just find that groove real quick again!
Yeah I know this front to back. Whole album is pretty decent. Some of the tracks sound like MJ is singing. Dude has a good voice.
@@ClickToPreview the lead singer was looking like Michael Hutchence from INXS another under rated group IMO.
Consider me a warrior!
i have pgm so yes all good
Ah, nostalgia. Took me right back to high school. I can't believe I remembered all the words.
Same!!
My son was around 8ish years old. He was all about the Spice Girls and Savage Garden. I love this song!
This was when my kids were small; we were soooo happy!
I also remember hearing this at our local amusement park at The Music Express. That was a ride that went fast, up and down and at an angle with looouud music!
I remember when the song jumped to number one. Jumped all of them.
Don't Speak by No Doubt
Semi-charmed life by Third Eye Blind
Hanson MMMBop
How Bizarre
omg yes third eye blind!!! alternative music was great in the late 90s! semi charmed life - another rap-like alternative song
A real blast from the past! This was a compromise group between my husband and myself. He was into Nirvana and I like James Taylor lol! We both liked Savage Garden!!!
He was flowing. When you get a chance -Live "Lightening Crashes"
Selling the Drama!
I loved savage garden as a kid, they were so popular on the radio as a kid & was quite a fan of Darren Hayes' solo career as well with hits like 'Insatiable'. Review 'I knew I loved you' by them.
I'm from Alabama. A friend and I was in Texas when this came out. We were in hot pursuit of a couple of lovely young ladies we had met at an event back home. Long story short. It turned out to be quite the adventure. Our housing arrangements fell through, so we ended up sleeping in my 81 Buick Regal for 3 weeks, while trying to find jobs. Ended up having to come back home. Anyway. That's what this song reminds me of. Waterfalls by TLC is another one that reminds me of that time in my life.
Whether it's flowing or rapping, it was beautiful. I like this band, though they're new to me. What a smooth tenor voice that guy has.
They've performed this on the 1997 Kids Choice Awards Mainstage hosted by Rosie O'Donnell
Went in to a record store in Woodridge one day years ago, just browsing. This young fellow who worked there came up to me and suggested a CD by The Neville Brothers. I bought it, great album. The young man who served me, Darren Hayes.
I once lived in Woodridge and knew that record store.
They started here in Woodridge southside of Brisbane Queensland Australia. I used to go to the cd/record shop they worked at before they broke into the music scene. Love their music.
Truely Madly Deeply by Savage Garden- best song of theirs in my opinion
Yay the Australian boys xx, Darren and Daniel grew up just up the road from me here in Brisbane
To the moon and back and break me, shake me!
To the moon and back 😍
Yeeees😍
You need to react to 'To The Moon and Back'. It's a genuinely brilliant song.
My introduction to this group was in 1998 at my mom's wedding reception. Her first dance was to Truly Madly Deeply.
I'd like to thank Jojo's bizarre adventure part 4 for bringing this song to my attention.
I fell in love even more with Savage Garden when I found out how they got their name.
Actually got to hear this whole album before it hit the airwaves and fell in love with Savage Garden immediately. A little town in Wyoming and we had it on our jukebox before anyone had heard of them.
@@lynw1623 Sounds good, Lyn W. LOL I definitely NOT that American you speak of. (And personally, right now I am half ashamed to admit to anyone that I am American!) I'm 65 now and that is the first time in my life I've had to say that. As to Savage Garden, when that song came out I had yet to even have internet or a computer, so when a stranger walked into the bar with something we had never heard, and then gifted us his CD, we were just so excited to get it on the jukebox and play the crap out of it!
@@lynw1623 Amen Sister!
Love this song. Could you please react to Savage Garden's "Crash and Burn"
'Ooh I want you, don't know if I need you, ooh I gotta find out ' badass line.
I forgot this song existed and I was thinking if this was the same "Madly Deeply" song guy... It is! What a trip! :)
I was looking for this song and you popped into my screen...IT was a hit in my country...Greetings from Colombia south America...
I never usually listen to that kind of thing but Savage Garden were the exception. They had...something. Possibly his voice. Their next album, Affirmation, was fantastic, really beautiful. One of those very rare albums with no filler tunes. Great lyricists.
Savage Garden was big when I was in college , I remember jamming to this on my Walkman ..still love it😊
Hey MRM. I've just subscribed to your channel, mainly for your reactions to Savage Garden and John Farnham. I'm Aussie and grew up listening to these musicians (they are two of my favourites actually!) so I really appreciate you voicing your thoughts and giving audiences outside Australia more exposure to them. Thank you for also waiting to the end of the video to comment. I notice that several reactors talk through songs and sometimes miss key bits.
Tears of Pearls is their finest moment
So this came out right after grunge and it was happy after all the grunge finally something that was happy!!! LOVED this song wait, I STILL do!!!
Check out the lyrics for real! Like I’m drinking Cherry Cola. Like a deep sea diver swimming w a rain coat...hahahaha
True upbeat fun song, (without video) has some great depth, from it's time & still fun to listen to now... love to have you do their song "I Knew I Loved You"... don't post much but do watch you lots, thanks for some great fun, experiencing & learning... :)
AC/DC may have put Australian Music on the map but Savage Garden took it to a whole new level.
Yes he was definitely flowing
Lol... I'm 60 years old. When I play this song it's always blasting.
I heard this song for the first time in a department store maybe 15 years ago, and it's been my favorite song ever since ❤
Love Savage Garden!
He was happy rappin
Love your intro I have alwaysveen obsessed with Savage Garden
💜💜💜💜 amazing tongue-twister. SG defines my childhood.
You did another song of theirs not to long ago where you said his voice sounded like Smoky Robinson.
Check out Savage Garden’s Crash and Burn
Some of the best synth dance pop out there, I wore this CD out and still listen to it to this day! All the way through! Love love!
Rosie O'Donnell really liked this song and was promoting the band on her show.
Iconic 90s sound right here.
Love Savage Garden❤ If you listen to the words this is a rather sexual song. "Any time I need to see your face I just close my eyes and I am taken a place where your ceysyal eyes and magenta face take up shelter in the base of my spine sweet like a chicka cherry cola." "Like a human cannon ball and I need to I want to." Had this cd as a teen. Best song of theirs. "Affirmation"
Awesome man! Great choice for a review.
90s is definitely my music, Rock, Country, R&B, Rap, Pop, Punk, Alternative.
As far as I’m concerned the 90s was the last great decade for music.
I should’ve done it before but I got a Sub for you buddy 🤨
This is such a roller rink song.
Another great savage garden song... summer this came out I was draggin my kids and their buddies to the pool to hang out most everyday, such great memories....♡
If you think that was fast, listen to the live version of it. Also SG had amazing songs but their masterpiece is To The Moon And Back. One of the greatest songs ever written, i guarantee you 've never heard anything alike.
He was my nephews neighbor. My nephew was a drummer. He played drums for white stripes wife band
Had no idea this was their song. First time I saw the video and I kept thinking he was fixing to get his eyes examined. Loved the “flow”
Love it! Definitely do more Savage Garden!
That song is on my iPod. Very good, vibrant, lively song.
My favorite Savage Garden song.
In high school in the late 90s I was bound and determined to learn all the words. I did and was singing along to your video.
Goodness! Haven't heard that in forever--still love it! Thanks!
Savage garden - two beds and a coffee machine
Australia strikes Again!(even if they're Bannana Benders).Savage Garden,,Silverchair ,Jet ,The Presets,Hill Top Hoods ,different bands
There is an original song written by a contestant on the voice years ago. It's an amazing song!! Please check it out. The artist is Taylor John Williams and the song "Song of a Dead Man".
Their best song is to the moon and back
The animal song, a another catchy song from Savage Garden! 🙂
Loved this song from the first time I heard it .. love all their songs actually.. my fav is ‘To The Moon and Back’ followed by ‘I Knew I Loved You’ .. love ur reactions :)
To the Moon and Back is highly underrated.
I love savage garden!
Im so glad that this song is used as ending for the anime JoJo
First time I'm hearing this song by them. I think they rock just haven't heard this song before
Was there 1st song ever released in 1996. Love them
All of their songs were great.
Thanks, never heard this song before (sounds from 80's {good thing}) Like the video also.
I think it was 98 or 99
it took me a while to get the title of the song, cause all I remembered was "Cherry Cola" so I would call it the "Cherry Cola" song, and the funny thing was everyone knew what I was talking about!
I remember dancing around my room getting ready to go out for ladies night, because I KNEW they would play this, and it would hype me up😂😂😂
was never really a fav at the time but truly love em now. brilliant I reckon
One of those songs that remind me of what was on the radio as a kid
Darren Hayes has even admitted that he was ahead of his time when he wrote this album and that he actually said he was rapping but he didn't realize it at the time.
I love this song, if you didn't realize it you reacted to one of their other songs just a short time ago (Truly Madly Deeply), this song was their first "big" hit, at least here in the states and it was quite different compared to most of their other hits that went for more of a ballad/lovesong, it's much more of a pop song and it's damn catchy too.
This takes me right back to 8th grade or so when it came out back in the 90s, I remember the teacher would let a group of us watch MTV shortly before the day was out and this was one of those songs that I remember coming on and getting stuck right in your head when it did, especially the "Cherry Cola" part of the song. Heck a lot of my friends referred to it as the "Cherry Cola" song because they didn't remember the actual name of it lol.
This song is so cool...love this one
Knowing the difference between what you want and what you need is a very important skill to have. I forgot how much I liked this song. Thanks to the requestee or the bingo ball, as the case may be. :)
maybe you could react to his solo stuff, like Insatiable
I had hoped MRM would listen to this song. Great work. Great song.
I must have played listened to this album more than a few times while playing the PS1 because this song instantly made me think of PS1 demo discs.
Nice! They had some really cool songs. Since that was a not-so-old Aussie band/song, maybe you could try a much older one like, say, The Easybeats Friday on my Mind (1966) or Ted Mulry Gang (TMG) Darktown Strutters Ball (1976).
To the moon and back is another good one by savage garden
I was on my first year of college when this song came out in '97. My then-girlfriend loved but, like it seemed with a lot of people, she didn't know the title. She just referred to it as that Chic a Cherry Cola song. I heard that from more people that just her. In fact, a Google search brings up tons of entries referring to this song as the Chic a Cherry Cola song.
It definitely felt very different than anything else that was on the radio at the time which seemed to be dominated by R&B. There's nothing wrong with those songs at all, but this just felt completely different at the time.
my favorite Savage Garden song is 'Affirmation'.................
Chris Young, "getting you home"
Ed Jones mentions Level 42, try Hot Water by Level 42...
I totaly forgot how good the song is!
Again, Darren Hayes is amazing.... Watch their concert live!! Too bad they are no longer a band!!
Excellent review.
Darren always had a thing for singing fast and he does it effortlessly. Check out All Around Me or the more serious one Unlovable
I would love it if you would react to, Warren Haynes "Rivers Gonna Rise" Guitar Center's King of the Blues 2011. I think you would enjoy it to. Warren Haynes is a master on the guitar, and a great singer also.
Chwck out Life is a Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me) by Reunion for very early "rap". You will dig it!
5:51 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I just got to part 4 of JoJo. This song played as the outro
I thought I heard josuke in the airways
Lol I'm glad you do so many different styles of music. I believe you are breaking a lot of stereotype thoughts about rap, which I believe those stereotypes were started by the music industry its self. The more I watch your videos the more I'm realizing rap is actually a style not a genre. Thanks for explaining the "flowing" term as well. I did enjoy the music part but verses were too fast for my taste. As an amature vocalist myself I prefer to be able to hear the lyrics and this song was too fast for my hearing lol. Still not a bad song just not my cup of tea.
This song was in coke commercials lol
Could you react to: love and rockets-so alive.
Jessie James Dupree-rev it up and go go.
The sex slaves- Thank you lord for jack Daniels.
The doors- light my fire.
Skillet- stars.
