Scriabin is a very underrated composer, Valentina a high level professional. I've listened to her in a live performance in Avellino, a small town in Southern Italy, a couple of years ago. Simply perfect, although in front of a few dozens people audience. Thanks, Valentina.
My dear, Scriabin's life and work make him the most enigmatic composer I have ever heard. What we know about him at the piano is that he was a Chopinian, but very involved in mystique. Perhaps this explains the low visibility of his work, something that changes every decade.
+Tetyana Chorma!
The beautiful things are difficult, the difficult things are beautiful. Jesus, dear Teacher, my soul trembles: these are moments of pure beauty. I am immensely grateful for watching and listening your interpretation.
I think this is the most beautiful interpretation of Sonata n. 2 that I have ever heard: sweetness (caresses), power, agility, wonderful sound!
Far away the best performance I have heard of this sonata. You give it a kind of hipnotic touch which combinated with the images created by the composer creates a magical moment for the listener. Congrats Valentina
I see this as such a hopeful statement! It reminds us the very essence of life is the effort to grab the chance of evolving that every new day brings us. Thank you!
^ Very touching and empathetic statement. i couldnt agree more. Also, thank you for restoring some humanity today. This piece, the internet, the electricity..its really incredible that we, simply people, have come so far. Frankly, for me, its amazing we even figured out how to make records..and not only that, made em sound goddamn great. i dont know much..but im certain who wrote this music, was nothing short of genius...and for me, it simply goes to show, if you are lucky enough to have a dream, follow it. afterall, some people, and this is blunt.,but some are cheated out of their rudimentary mental faculties at birth, or some later.. if you have a mind, Consider using it. i guess, even if its to be a dick if thats what makes you feel good. Im not endorsing any one thing or other. Ofcourse, like any single other person, this is just MY outlook. But i suppose i would like to remind you the reader. You are alive right now. You might have a funeral next week, the world and people isnt just total shit. It's true that...we are all in this together. well and death and taxes...Ill end my little rant with this message. Food for thought.... Do as thou wilt shall be the whole of the law. Love is the law. Love under will. and Every man and woman is a star.
She is an incomparable piano interpreter .. for a variety of composers I've listened to her,, Really she's fantastic.. Moreover, she possesses a vigor power on dominating the piano.. So unique ..!!
Valentina - I fell in love with your work a couple years ago because your taste is so much like my own. Now you've introduced me to something new, beautiful, and moving. Thank you. Always.
i keep on coming back to listen to this piece. You have such a beautiful touch and really capable to bring out the piano's full capability. Your performance is phenomenal Valentina!
i remember decades ago in the 70's when ruth laredo, who studied at curtis around the corner from where i lived, released on DG a 2 lp set of the sonatas, preludes, etudes. we had never heard before since were rarely performed in public. this is one of my favorite scriabin piano works. this performance is like something from my dreams. unreal. and i thought, who is this (playing)??!! the bösendorfer has a very resonance and richness to the sound perfect for this piece. thank you!
When I get up in the morning and I listen this beautiful music plaid so beautifully I feel myself happy and everything around me shine. Thank to Scriabin and Lisitsa
I love early Scriabin.Valentina has this music in her bones.A CD or DVD with the complete Scriabin Etudes would be priceless, There is also a gorgeous Fantasy in B minor I believe its opus 22.
I've always admired Scriabin and his sound but found it difficult to get into or understand his music. I've never really ventured much into his work outside of his preludes but this was a pleasure to listen to and from one of my favourite pianists too, Bravo Lisitsa.
You know what you know when you can play at this understanding. It is a different interpretation from the other interpretation I heard earlier today but beautiful and melodic and a great mirror of the sea. Thank you for giving these headphones and ears in the them the pleasure. x
Wow ! The performance was stupendous ! Somehow very scriabinesque… I'm sure this was the spirit, these were the colours Scriabin was looking for (and at) when he wrote the piece. And the sound is so crystalline and rich. I want that piano *_*
So beautiful and contemplative music, even in the «stormy agitation» of the second movement, to use the composer's own words. Your splendid interpretation really reflects Scriabin's description of his own music, Ms Lisitsa.
Ruth Laredo is (was) unparalleled at this piece. She makes it just... sing. And the arpeggio parts at the end of 1st mvt. in her execution... Ahh... always leave me agape. And with blissful thoughts... Wherease this rendition sounds to me like a totally different piece
Valentina i am very enthusiastic to watch you play. I'm a piano teacher myself and very inspiring to see your explosive energy and passion when you play.
When I see you playing, I wonder how is it possible to play such a difficult piece with this lightness and delicateness, that's fantastic, a great performance and a new vision in Scriabin's music.
ha. there does come a time when the body no longer cooperates with the mind or at least it slows things down--I am just learning things I wish I had known when I was 5 but that was 59yrs ago. Val. you keep getting better. Grand playing on a great piano. It sounds like an organ with the 64ft stops whispering! TY.
Valentina finally I can let myself love this sonata without any doubt!!!What beautiful and psychedelic arpegios in the first part....!!And this agitated ocean in the second is sooooo obvious in your hands!!Really thank you for this passionate performance! You re-invented all the first Scriabin period with his so romantic, almost Chopinesque sound...a dream that you never wanna wake up from!
It would be an honour to dedicate a work to you, it really would be in the best hands! Anyway, thank you very very much for uploading such high quality videos! Fantastic performances, great image quality, interesting text. You are a phenomenal musician! I am looking forward to hear your performance in Nijmegen in April!
This was superb, Valentina! I also liked her choice of instruments, a Bosendorfer. I do not understand the commenter who said this piece was like "bad Schubert"!!
I do. For most composers being called "bad Schubert" would be high praise. The poem is very much in the style of Schubert's impromptus. Only a *lot* shorter and with highly chromatic harmonies. The piece reminds me most of the slow movement of Beethoven's Pathetique. The most telling criticism of Scriabin's music is the way he wedded his music to classical forms. So while he was a revolutionary as regards tonality, he was very much a traditionalist when it came to musical structures. As for the comment, Scriabin's chromatic style and intentionally brittle harmonies aren't to everyone's taste. Oh yes, and I want me a Bosendorfer. To go with my Pleyel (I wish).
Thank you for the exposure to music which was relatively unknown to me. However , after reading the comments below about philosophies and ideologies, I will stay with Beethoven's "from the heart to the heart" which has been my enduring guiding beacon into the wonders of music.
I love early Scriabin. If Valentina would make a CD of the Complete Scriabin Etudes I am certain such a CD would win the Grammophone Award. Then with a Grammophone Award having been won, Decca should be happy to provide her at their expense, with a first rate conductor & orchestra. A CD with the Saent Saens Concerto #2 and the beautiful Scriabin Concerto or Rubinstein 4th in D minor would then be fabulous.
Empyreal.. ¡Tremendos sentimientos! I've always been a true lover of your play, your technique and your passion. And this kind of pieces bring up the best of your play; and I'm sure everyone agrees with me. Something sublime... That is what Scriabin did with this piece.
For many years I've marveled at Val's playing and her prodigious memory for the most intricate pieces, making them sound so beautiful.
Scriabin is a very underrated composer, Valentina a high level professional. I've listened to her in a live performance in Avellino, a small town in Southern Italy, a couple of years ago. Simply perfect, although in front of a few dozens people audience. Thanks, Valentina.

No matter the piece, Valentina Lisitsa never ceases to caress the piano into submission. I'm so completely in love with her playing. My heart swells.

Few deserve to play the king of all Instruments: Bösendorfer
Valentina plays like a goddess
couldnt agree more
I never get bored with (early) Scriabin, always refreshing.
Yes, the first four sonatas are unique. Almost classical, almost Beethoven...
The fourth is already something else.
Far away the best performance I have heard of this sonata. You give it a kind of hipnotic touch which combinated with the images created by the composer creates a magical moment for the listener. Congrats Valentina
This is to let your fan from Vancouver fan remains in awe of your talent. Great piece!

Actually, Mikael, it was an LP set released by Nonesuch, not DGG. She also released numerous Scriabin works on Connoisseur Society LPs. Cheers!
I approve.
Thank you Valentina for this choice, Scriabin is my favorite russian composer.
From 8:49 is my favourite. Simply indescribable emotions and talent from the pianist...
Heavenly moments started at 2:42
It's too beautiful
Nearly painfully beautiful! The eyes simply fill with tears!
This recital was so beautifully executed. .I'm highly appreciative of it, especially in mood I was in... Thanks Valentin

Maybe try the 5th sonata it’s more romantic than the other sonatas I would say

¡Bravo mijita!.
So beautiful and contemplative music, even in the «stormy agitation» of the second movement, to use the composer's own words. Your splendid interpretation really reflects Scriabin's description of his own music, Ms Lisitsa.
Scriabin is a genius.. and you, Valentina, are a genius by extention.. master of Liszt and now as it seems master of scriabin. Just beautiful!
lovely relaxed style of playing! What a beautiful sound!
Oh Lord, I've been waiting for your performance of this sonata! Thank you so much!

In your performance this sonata sound especially ❤
Thank you,Valentina. That was just beautiful; made my day....and the sound of that grand was superb.
Just WOW. So beautifully played Val :-)
adorable piece ever I heard
Solo vederti suonare, senza volume, è uno spettacolo...poi col volume...😂😂👏👏😜
Fantastic performance!
I swear I can see colors.
Lawrence Magee sorry synaesthesia is something you have to be born with you can’t just pretend to have it
@@Magnet12 It's a joke because scriabin was obsessed with using colors to resemble his music.
Maximus no that’s clearly not a joke unless he is pretending to be Scriabin himself
@@Magnet12 whatever, william Aspergers the second
@@Magnet12 drop 6 hits of good acid and call me in the morning prick.
I'll add this. I've loved Scriabin my entire life. It's my belief that Horowitz was the greatest interpreter of this giant. Others pale.
Such a captivating performance!
thanks for the Scriabin...... it would be great to hear you play any or all of the other sonatas! thanks again.........
