I have been listening to all of Valentinas performances for over 10 years now. I am a lover of all music. Rap, rock, metal, blues, and all classical. I've always loved classical pianists the most. I've tried to listen to who the critics say are the best, but nobody comes close to touching the soul like Valentina. This woman has no equal. You would have to be insane to criticize her in favor of any other pianist in the world. I've compared her to all. There is no comparison. I will continue to listen to her performances over and over forever. It will continue to get me through the tough times in life.

There was a video on the internet this morning. A lady had a piano out in the countryside, in I assume Africa. She was playing Movement two of Beethoven's Pathetique for an elephant, who stood there beside her listening and making a musical sound. It made me gloriously happy. Nothing is more beautiful than Movement two of Beethoven's Sonata No. 8.

The first movement is way too fast. The good thing is she unveils some the piece's hidden melodies

    • @Tore_Lund
      @Tore_Lund 4 роки тому +6

@@therealconniefrancis I was going to say this is unusual slower than I expected her to play it. But she picks up tempo later. I think a lot of Beethoven is played too slow in general. Remember his was a student of Mozart, and contemporary composers also wrote fast sonatas. The piece suddenly opens up and you hear some Liszt and Chopin in it! Playing Beethoven slowly bring its own set of problems, the fingering becomes a case of perfect timing and you get some strange Bossa Nova rhythms into it, to get your timing right.

    Bravo!
As for me, Beethoven's work is absolutely about "time and tempo". IMO, Valentina Lisitsa is the most accomplished pianist of any I've heard (I'm 69 years old and heard many), and whose interpretation is flawless (Beethoven and others)! Her interpretation of Sonata, OP 27, Mov 1, 2 & 3 shows this as much as any other Beethoven's work. Ms. Lisitsa proves her expertise in time and tempo with her rendition of Moonlight Sonata above ALL pianist throughout 'recording' history.

Krystian Zimmerman! This is what is said about him: Music for Krystian Zimerman is the art of organizing emotions in time. The Polish pianist's interpretations of everything from Beethoven and Chopin to Schubert and Szymanowski reveal infinite expressive subtleties and the underlying clarity of his story-telling through music. Zimerman's place among today's greatest artists remains not least on the freshness and originality of his performances, always intensely personal and prepared in meticulous detail. He may study a work for decades, exploring every facet and contemplating its meaning before introducing it to his recital repertoire or taking it into the studio. His approach belongs to a dynamic process of creative evolution, one in which self-criticism, deep reflection and intuition play significant parts. “The final thing - that which art is made of - happens in the concert hall,” he notes.

Excellent playing of this wonderful sonata (spoilt by the coughing as people have already said but nonetheless I was able to concentrate on most of the performance).

As a pianist myself learning to play this beautiful Sonata my mind was totally focused on the pianist and her artistic interpretation. If people are coughing they need to so lets show empathy and compassion and instead express appreciation and gratitude
for this beautiful performance by a gifted pianist.

I noticed that if you listen to this video more often you start thinking the coughing belongs to the music. You almost wait for it to happen...It must be difficult for artists like Valentina to concentrate with these disturbances. Usually the coughing is filtered out later on when the rocordings are planned to be sold. I would love to hear the filtered version... :-)

3 Uhr Morgens, komme soeben von Deinem Konzert im Prinzregententheater in München zurück. Es war magisch! Himmlische Magie! Was für eine Kraft! So viel Gefühl!
Now, i try to translate in english, with my nearly inexistent command of english and with the aid of LEO (wordbook):
3 o'clock in the morning, this minutes i come back from your Concert in Munich. It was magic! Heavenly magic! What a power! So much feeling! You're sitting on the piano, playing most compliceted pieces, sometimes with a smiling mien, as if you would cycle good-humored in the summerwind throu the landscape, like, as if were nothing easier than playing piano. Your live concerts, over and over again a enjoyment for watching and listening. I can feel, you love your music and your guests. Thank you very much!
Kind regards also to your husband and your son! God bless you all!
    kind regards
    Michael
