I remember the Amorica album being released a few days after my 19th birthday when I lived in Minnesota. More than 28 years have passed and I can still remember the first time I heard Wiser Time. In my Jeep, on the way back from Best Buy in La Crosse, WI, because they actually had the CD. A lot has changed since then. I've traveled so many miles and lived in so many places that I understand the lyrics "you ask me why another road song, funny but I bet you never left home". The music remains the same. What I wouldn't give for one more ride in that old Jeep up the Mississippi River valley back from La Crosse to the town famous for its red light district and stone... and an actress who was named for that town and is now the mom in Stranger Things. I live on the other side of the country now. I feel like going back there, but never for long. All I really need is this song and it can take me back there any time I want.
Dude I had basically the same experience when this was new, down south in Oklahoma. In my Chevy truck, taking my stray dog Pepper (that I found by the same river lol), catfishing until sunup! I'd give anything to drive that 79 Chevy, or the 70 Chevy I had then. That whole album still feels monumental to me, because I became a true adult, out of school, now what?!
I hear this song and its 20 years ago. It's 2 am and I'm an hour out from Barstow on my way from LA to Vegas. My car is fast and quiet, what could be better than to be young and at the beginning of a journey that's conclusion is uncertain. And to have a song like this playing to sear the memory into the mind, thanks Black crowes
These guys should be in the HOF! They write great songs. Chris sings them well. Rich sings well too, (love his voice on 'Oh Sweet Nuthin'). He's also a great guitarist. And they harmonize beautifully. What's not to like?
I can't even count the 800 thousand chills on my arms that this song gives...oh wait, i just counted 800 thousand! Seriously, unreal. Best jam online ever...surreal, organic and what music is supposed to represent.
My favorite version of this song. So mellow and soulful. Ahhh Luther Dickinson adds a mellow dimension I can't even put into words. He makes it look so effortless, and his tone is nothing short of heaven.
One of my favorite songs as well Chris,,, the only problem I have with it is that it makes me miss my brother...JAMES.... ROCK ON CROWS,,, your music & lyrics make my life a little bit easier deal with...and at the age of 58 I need all the help I can receive. And what a wonderful place to receive it from, you're band is a blessing to us all....
I grew up near Chis and Rich but was in a different school system and we never met. Apparently their father was a douche but spurred them to become a professional band. Chris and I are the same age but we chose different paths. I am extremely proud to call them my Home Boys
First time i ever heard this song was in a Jam session with a great friend and mentor of mine. Been coming back to this song every time i need to sit back and let life take its course. Im 21, Drums are my life, Rock n Roll my first love. Dont know what life has for me yet, letting life take the wheel. peace and love.
Not sure I’ve ever equated a guitar sound to food but Luther’s guitar is just plain subtle vanilla creamy goodness. Keys too. This is this bands member sweet spot IMHO.
saw these guys live twice and to this day those are probably the two best shows I've ever attended. Every song became this awesome jam session. One song they took what was basically a 2 chord bridge and turned it into the heart of a 10 minute jam and when they finally jumped back to the song it was like coming home
I agree, and I notice that Luther Dickinson of North Mississippi was playing lead during this sitting. North Mississippi's first two CD's had several riffs that sounded like the 70's Allman classics, it's amazing to hear the influences of musicians in their playing. I read somewhere where Luther's Daddy, a talented musician in his own right, has always been a Allman Brother, delta blue aficionado.
WOW that was the BADDEST live I've seen in a long while. The vibe was super chill, Chris should've smoked a fatty while his Brother went raw solo, I even shed a tear it was what I needed today 8-25-23!!!! ❤
Hhahaha! The fuggin PROS! That sounds so damn good. I love that when the band kicks in, Rich's ear always leans to hear levels n shit. Great band and Rich along with Toy Caldwell and David Glimour are my Inspos.
You can never know what it's like to be 1500 miles from home, with a $1.50 in your pocket, playing a set of 9-Ball for $500, until you do it.. The road, man... A special time in my life.. Great Song (I wore out this tape on the road, in 1995)..
Had a quarrel at the parking lot.......not a good day today. Listening to this beautiful song to pacify myself. It's working, it's really working. Wow! how melodious and therapeutic music can be.
Saw them two days ago. Sick show! On the way out after the show this chick was screaming WHHHOOOO!!! At the fucking top of her lungs. I looked at my girl and said that is exactly how I feel right now. She let loose in the parking lot and we could still hear her 3000 feet away. Great show.
Hands Down the best they ever did. Always a Jam and always on time. Perhaps I am partial, Chris and I are the same age and grew up less than 10 miles apart. But if they were from the Moon, this is still my faveorite song
Fantastic vocal harmonies and outstanding musicianship. I remember the days of Black Crowes. What a different world we lived in back then. Chris's voice is so amazing. Great front man.
my kids and I like to gauge music on the 50 year rule - will a band / singer still be played 50 years from now? (basically that eliminates 95% of pop/rb/hip hop music produced today) The Black Crowes will always be played and loved. Just like every generation "rediscovers" Pink Floyd, the Eagles, U2, Talking Heads, Rush, etc., future generations will discover and appreciate the depth of this music.
This sums up On The Road and zen and motorcycle maintenance. Hit the road and have the truth and joy along with the trials present themselves. Hit the road and spend a couple days each week seeing music like this or the Allmans or dead. Adventure. This song is aware of that vibe. I hope thT the kids today put their electronics away and Hit the backroads and blue highways.
Any Artist knows when they have Nailed something. It is up to us to seee what they've done. Unfortunately it takes time for most but not these guys. A 'True Masterpiece 'is recognized by all
I LOVE Chris so much !!!!! He is so real in his songs; I pray Chris and Rich will make up and be brothers again, they don't have to be in a band but just be brothers again
fortunate enough to have seen them 9 different times. including two club shows and a large venue with Jimmy Page. They ALWAYS delivered. Anyone here remember the Attic in Greenville, NC?
black crowes have been thru a few guitar players, but none so smooth as Luther. this song pretty much tells the tale. really a nice piece of music here. congrats guys, you were the best bar band in the country for a long time.
It’s one of their best tunes , but what really gets my attention is- and it’s no coincidence, I’m sure it was a brilliantly planned “hook” : the first break with the drums (2X beat) . The chord progression is so relaxing and reminds me of sitting in a beach chair on the beach , in the shade , with a cool buzz - just loving, living life.
"running, but you never left home." That made me think. I've been getting around for a long time now. Not really finding exactly what i was looking for, and I didn't have a perfectly clear thought on what this was. People can fill your head where you are supposed to be and it can lead you to places that have nothing to do with anything in your life. I talked to a chap at the grocery store today while he bagged my groceries we had a small conversation that felt like home...I don't think there is really a physical place that I'm supposed to be, but a place where the right people around me, talking about the right things. People make the home, not promises or material necessarily, but just when you can have some good conversation on what you are milling over and over in your own mind makes a good time and place. Connection is the most important thing out there. Hope everyones got that in their life right now and forever after.
j dawg, I couldn’t agree with you more. Sometimes you share DNA with your family and sometimes you choose each other. Even a moment of genuine conversation can be satisfying and memorable.
So got a big 48yr grown ass humbled son smile across my face as I saved this... A clean vision of what should be an "older yet wiser time" ! The playlist u-tube selected from the 987 & 1/2 playlist I have, I'm a music Horder? Unexpectedly was { Pops Trippn' still } popped up & that's exactly who I was relishing in at that moment!... I need u Daddy... The Man I sometimes fought to forgive & love, I cherish now.... The Good definitely outweighed the bad! TY
I am "in love" with Greta Van Fleet (again.. BROTHERS) right now BUT I have been, and will ALWAYS be a fan of the Back Crowes. The first time i saw them I was 22 (I am 50) they were at some weird place on Van Buren in Phoenix. Shake your Money Maker had just been released and I had made it my lifes mission to turn EVERYONE I knew (and some neighbors I didn't!) on to The Crowes. I have been doing some serious praying for the brothers that make up Greta Van Fleet! I just hope SO MUCH that they avoid the big pitfalls of the Music industry.. actually.. THE WORLD and AVOID HEROIN because when Chris was all fucked up.. I went thru it with him AND I WASN'T A JUNKIE!! HAVE NEVER EVEN SEEN HEROIN!!! And I pray that Josh & Jake ALWAYS harmonize the way they do now!! I hope they do not have the break ups and hang ups that Chris & Rich STILL do because that "brotherly thing" Chris speaks on in this Video.. IS MAGICAL!! As a lifetime FAN.. I hope the Robinson brothers realize that everyone that loves their music gets FUCKED when they are NOT making music because, I for one MISS LISTENING TO IT!!!
saw them 1998 Shreveport.brick town.we caught the sound check .dropped some funny looking pieces of paper my girl and I she saw a light show in the daytime....good times I was 18 free and white ...couldn't get much better
I used to drive from yardley pa to Morgantown WV with two ounces of weed taped to the bottom of my seat and five ready rolls with this album on repeat.
Chris has reflections of Otis Redding in his delivery. No coincidence that they recorded “ Hard to Handle”.Not to say his style isn’t his own. Chris is one of the best vocalists of my time.
I adore this song; any form that ice heard it in. I understand Chris and Rich's relationship well. My sister and I haven't shared their experience exactly as they have, but we've shared the loss of our father and two brothers. We grew up together on smoke, drink, Zeppelin, Hendrix, and Miles. As much as I miss our Dad and bros, I'm SO grateful for the bond that Anne Marie and I share. Thank you, Great Spirit, for our spiritual close proximity. We can go a month or two without talking, but we pick up like we just hung out yesterday. Whatever God anyone believes in, it's the one that unites souls.
I def. prefer older Crowes stuff to newer stuff, but this performance is SICK... this whole album is amazing really, just wish Chris's voice was more of what it was back then.
It's impressive how well they nail such a subdued groove with ease rather than attack. Restraint, confidence and mastering that backbeat really is the sign of a great band. How many young bands pull of this kind of arrangement these days?
After CR's remarks on Howard Stern yesterday (to paraphrase: I don't like my brother, I don't want to be in the same room with my brother, I don't want to sing with those people), seems as if we'll never hear he and Rich sing this live again. No big surprise, but still makes me sad. He said he wouldn't attend the induction ("Garcia didn't go!") even if they get elected to R&R Hall of Fame some day--but his clever wife, Alison, said, "Unless I make him go!" So there's still hope! I loved the Black Crowes, I love The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, and once I hear Rich's band The Magpie Salute I will probably love them, too. Just feeling sad, even though both their bands will probably benefit from the publicity.

One of my favorites by black crowes
In ACOUSTIC...
Love both versions !!

+BRM42 Driving fast while texting about life. What a great way to die.... LOL
BRM42 nicely said. that's a nice drive @ night,
It's a memory and those count
BRM42 ...sup...how'd things turn out?
Word..
These guys should be in the

Couldn’t agree with you more on all of this!! And I LOVE Sweet Nuthin’, especially Rich’s vocals 💯❤
I can't even count the 800 thousand chills on my arms that this song gives...oh wait, i just counted 800 thousand! Seriously, unreal. Best jam online ever...surreal, organic and what music is supposed to represent.
Uncooked chicken. Me too dude
My favorite version of this song. So mellow and soulful. Ahhh Luther Dickinson adds a mellow dimension I can't even put into words. He makes it look so effortless, and his tone is nothing short of heaven.

And what a wonderful place to receive it from, you're band is a blessing to us all....
Right on as I sit here thinking too long and too wrong this jam makes it all better. 😊❤
My favorite Crowes song....this reminds me so much of the Allman Bros.
I hear this song for first time in 1994 and still one of my favorites!!
I grew up near Chis and Rich but was in a different school system and we never met. Apparently their father was a douche but spurred them to become a professional band. Chris and I are the same age but we chose different paths. I am extremely proud to call them my Home Boys

Saw the Crowes in London a couple of weeks back. Quality gig. Good to have them back again in 2024.
The album version of this song is spectacular but this live version is on another level!
Oh yes sir!!!
Randomly heard it on the radio today...so had to check the vibe.
This is gold
There’s something about this song that moves my heart
I think it’s called a ‘pacemaker’.
@@titteryenot4524 not scientifically
Words can't describe what I feel when i hear this song ! ❤
Sound on this baby soothes the soul
"14 seconds til sunrise...tired but wiser for the time"
Man, this about sums up the late 90's for me. Love this band.
Nicholas Platt man i have that tattooed with the staff music around my arm
Not sure I’ve ever equated a guitar sound to food but Luther’s guitar is just plain subtle vanilla creamy goodness. Keys too. This is this bands member sweet spot IMHO.

Amorica was best piece of work they did...I bought it sight unseen the day it went on the racks. Masterpiece!
You mean sight unheard?
Yes. That was always my favorite.
You haven't lived till you've seen the Crowes cook on a good night, they're spectacular.
+Dennis Campbell
they always deliver.
+Dennis Campbell You'll never get to see it again. Looks like Chris killed the Crows for good this time. :(
Dennis Campbell I guess I'll never live cause sadly I doubt I ever get another chance to see them together 😢
I got to see them when they were starting out. 3 times in small venues and they were awesome but the best had to be when they played with Jimmy Page.
They don't always deliver. I've seen some of the last shows when Chris and Rich were NOT getting along. But when they do deliver it's ELECTRIC.
One of those songs that can bring a tear to the eye and a smile to the face. Jam on.
me too funny .
+Bohemian Spirit Zombie baby that it chokes me up when I sing it .. I dunno why
Hit my 8th show with The BC. It was at The Fillmore East. It was absolutely perfect. Such a tight show. Magical.
WOW that was the BADDEST live I've seen in a long while. The vibe was super chill, Chris should've smoked a fatty while his Brother went raw solo, I even shed a tear it was what I needed today 8-25-23!!!! ❤
He did ,a fatty and more !!!
Great song. A staple song that gets replayed often on my IPod.
The addition of Luther Dickenson to the Crowes sure didn't detract from their sound. A very versatile musician, for sure.
Indeed.
Luther is world-class.. My hero. I was sooo happy when he joined the Crowes.. Like peanut butter and jelly.. Great fit..
My fave Crowes song, takes me back !
Chris Robinson is a gifted soul singer in his own right. Gregg Allman is a legend. They are both great at what they do as are their respective bands.
No need to be nasty, their influences show in the music.
RESPECT!
Hhahaha! The fuggin PROS! That sounds so damn good. I love that when the band kicks in, Rich's ear always leans to hear levels n shit. Great band and Rich along with Toy Caldwell and David Glimour are my Inspos.

Set of balls on you. Amen brother.
I've lost everything I've had twice gambling and still smile for ya brotha!
The harmonies are like heaven ! 🤍
Had a quarrel at the parking lot.......not a good day today. Listening to this beautiful song to pacify myself.
It's working, it's really working. Wow! how melodious and therapeutic music can be.
One on the best freaking groves ever for sure one one my fav drummers love it I play it at work every week gets me going !!!
One of the phattest, most ill, completely silly mad stupid-dope jams I've ever seen! These guys are sick live! In the pocket for sure.
Saw them two days ago. Sick show! On the way out after the show this chick was screaming WHHHOOOO!!! At the fucking top of her lungs. I looked at my girl and said that is exactly how I feel right now. She let loose in the parking lot and we could still hear her 3000 feet away. Great show.

Damn I love that sound! And the slide,
my kids and I like to gauge music on the 50 year rule - will a band / singer still be played 50 years from now? WallaceTexas truth!
Agreed!
Damn, I love this song so much
No less than heartbreaking that Chris and Rich broke. Geniuses both, and especially together
What a perfect jam..
My favorite r'n'r-blues brothers..🤩♥️☮
Men , these guys are killer guitar players ,great songs .
such a soulful song from a soulful band..........
This jam has the warmest cool sound
This sums up On The Road and zen and motorcycle maintenance. Hit the road and have the truth and joy along with the trials present themselves. Still so good all these years later
This one of the first songs I'd listen to on UA-cam. I'd have to login to desktop to listen.
Best song they ever wrote. Period.
This song grabs me spiritually. It has me tortured to that sound.😉🤟❤️🎸
They did
fortunate enough to have seen them 9 different times. including two club

Anyone here remember the Attic in Greenville, NC?
+anonymous bigshot Yeh, man... the Attic, the Elbow Room, and another joint I can't remember the name of.
sharkey's pool hall?
+anonymous bigshot no... but I remember there was a tree growing in the middle of the place.
Most bands have a song that ‘gets me’. This is it with The Black Crowes.
Wiser time is a bloody master piece ❤
black crowes have been thru a few guitar players, but none so smooth as Luther. this song pretty much tells the tale. really a nice piece of music here. congrats guys, you were the best bar band in the country for a long time.
this album was so unreal....smoke one and play it and chill for the next 2 hours.....
Amorica has to be one of my favourite albums. It's sublime.
Definitely in my top 5 albums of all time.
my favorite black crowes song!
The best Crowe’s song. Beautiful 12 string slide Rich. These guys literally saved rock and roll, for me at least, when they showed up. ✌🏼
First time ever heard sure do like it soothing to the soul
greatest song ever
My personal favorite version of this song.
If wish they got back together. I followed them from day one. Was their for their 1st and last show.
One of my favorite Crowes songs. Such a great jam. This whole show was great.
Even better - so beautiful- brings me to a state of bliss-Thank you for the good music
still listen in 2016, my good ol day , greetings from Indonesia
It’s one of their best tunes , but what really gets my attention is- and it’s no coincidence, I’m sure it was a brilliantly planned “hook” : the first break with the drums (2X beat) . The chord progression is so relaxing and reminds me of sitting in a beach chair on the beach , in the shade , with a cool buzz - just loving, living life.
That solo is crazy
"running, but you never left home." That made me think. I've been getting around for a long time now. Not really finding exactly what i was looking for, and I didn't have a perfectly clear thought on what this was. People can fill your head where you are supposed to be and it can lead you to places that have nothing to do with anything in your life. j dawg, I couldn’t agree with you more. Sometimes you share DNA with your family and sometimes you choose each other. Even a moment of genuine conversation can be satisfying and memorable.
I like your comment, but you got the words wrong. It’s you ask me why another road song funny, but I bet you never left home
Happy New Year 2022, still one of my favorite tunes from Chris and Rich
Great, great song.
Just saw As The Crow Flies in Oakland a few nights ago. So many great memories over the years.
One of the Best Songs Ever!!!
Been listening to these guys sense forever it seems... love their music.....feel a great connection to the words and sound ❤️🌹🦋

love that clean rock sound its groovy as hell
I used to drive from yardley pa to Morgantown WV with two ounces of weed taped to the bottom of my seat and five ready rolls with this album on repeat.
I still do !!!
Now we are talking.
Chris has reflections of Otis Redding in his delivery. No coincidence that they recorded “ Hard to Handle”.Not to say his style isn’t his own. Chris is one of the best vocalists of my time.

This song makes me cry. It is so efing beautiful i cannot stand it. Thank you boys. Thank you more than word could ever say
hell in cool , hearing this song ! miss all time to be wise
Keepin the spirt of great music alive.
Love Rich's 12 string slide solo!!
When the brothers can keep it together personally, magic happens.
I def. prefer older Crowes stuff to newer stuff, but this performance is SICK... this whole album is amazing really, just wish Chris's voice was more of what it was back then.
They create magic. I'll always listen!
Gods .... plain and simple.. love this cut !
It's impressive how well they nail such a subdued groove with ease rather than attack. Restraint, confidence and mastering that backbeat really is the sign of a great band. How many young bands pull of this kind of arrangement these days?
Patrick McCallum, I love how the bass is up high in the mix. A lot.
They used to play against each other with volume.. here's an instance when.. Walla.. Perfecto 👌💯
After CR's remarks on Howard Stern yesterday (to paraphrase: I don't like my brother, I don't want to be in the same room with my brother, I don't want to sing with those people), seems as if we'll never hear he and Rich sing this live again. Brenda Eisler ! Greetings from the future, they get back together
I’m from the further future. They played this song together on npr tiny desk, 7 months ago. Just Chris and Rich. It was beautiful.
Beginning of song is dead ringer for Allman Brothers 'High Falls', in and of itself a classic.
Gran canción en directo.
my favorite off the amorica album! Love this performance. thanks for posting!! :)
Luther Dickinson. Fair to say one of the more underrated guitarist of today?
Beautiful song
