I keep the powder to save space, but I keep a small jar that I put 1 TBSP of powder in with water so it turns into liquid detergent and is ready when I need to do laundry. Every time I do a load of laundry, I fill my small jar with another TBSP powder and water to get it ready for my next load. 😉
I much prefer the powdered version. To me, it's quicker to make, easier to storage, cleaner to dispense...and it doesn't leave a sticky measuring cup behind like the liquid does. (It's the little things!) I also have a feeling that the powder lasts fresher longer. One tip: I put about a cup of baking soda in the bottom of my blender or food processor *before* I add a couple of handfuls of soap chunks. I work in batches until all soap has been pulverized. The powder really helps the soap NOT gum-up the blades, and it protects my machine from working too hard. Plus--no more sticking my fingers in and feeling around the blades to get the last gunky pieces of soap out!
Just to let everyone know that T*DE has a smear campaign to stop us all from teaching/making our own detergents, by posing as reg ppl and saying that the homemade detergents ruined their expensive clothes and streaked it like bleach! This is un-true and it is a SMEAR CAMPAIGN; paid through commissions to ppl, from P& 9G co...who has said in the newspaper they are losing money in sales each month over this homemade detergent phenomena! Make it yourself, use less chemicals in our wash and water waste system in our drinking water system too... T8DE panicking is a sign we are winning the war on cancer causing chemicals in our households! Do not pander to these companies...keep on truckin' and share this statement across the board! Whoot! Whoot!
Our Little Homestead! I will continue to make my own detergent! I have not bought commerical detergent in over a year! I make you recipe and have turned so many peoole onto it.
Our Little Homestead! I just recently made a batch and can't wait to try it out. I prefer the powdered version as I go to a laundromat and it's more convenient to bring the powder form. I've been using Tide but I'm so sick of their astronomical prices. I mentioned online on a laundry thread on a Facebook group that I was going to make my own detergent and I got attacked by someone saying it doesn't work. In fact I've noticed a number of posts around the internet similar to this and the person always mysteriously plugs Tide saying it works the best. Makes you go hmmmm doesn't it lol? My thinking is what is the harm in trying a homemade recipe and seeing for yourself if you like it. I think I'd rather trust the opinions of people who make and use something rather than a random person saying it doesn't work.
Wow, T*de actually claimed homemade laundry soap causes white streaks on clothes? Nonsense...it is the commercial brands that cause the white streaks. I am so glad you posted this information. We have been using commercial brands and have had such a nightmare with the ghost streaking on dark fabrics and we almost never use bleach. I am definitely going to try your recipe. Isn’t it just like those huge companies to accuse homemade soap of causing what is really caused by their own products.
6 cups washing soda 2- 6 cup borax. Baking soda 2 cup. Awesome powder oxygen cleaner from dollar tree 32 oz use 2 cups of it. Zote soap 400 gram bar, use 1 3/4 - 1 1/2 bars. Cut the zote bars up and put it in a blender/ food processor (you can grade it if you you don’t have a food processor or blender). Pulse for a few seconds (make sure it doesn’t get to hot). Put in 2 cups of washing soda with the zote soap. Pulse more and then add the rest of the washing soda and pulse until done. Make sure your food processor/ blender isn’t to full. Pore it into a bag and add 3 more cups of washing soda (6 cups total). Add 5-6 cups of borax unless it’s baby clothes then switch it to 2 cups. Add 2 cups of baking soda. Add two cups of the awesome power oxygen cleaner. You can use the measuring cup from the awesome bottle to measure it out because you use one of those per wash but if you don’t have it or lose it it’s 1 tablespoon per load for high efficiency machines. Use 2 tablespoons if you don’t have a high efficiency machine. Add an extra tablespoon to either for really dirty clothes.
oh wow this is my first time seen anybody using ZOTE other then my family in Mexico. they only use ZOTE soap to wash all there laundry on a rock over at the river n there clothes are supper clean and there white clothes are super white .. good thing i came across your channel 👍🏻
Just a hint...I loose things so I laminate this recipe and put it at the bottom of the fresh made batch, so when I run out I won't have to find the recipe.
Thank you for the recipe. I have liked zote soap since I was a kid. I grew up in Mexico, and zote is a must have for laundry. When something had a deep stain like from blood, coke, etc. we put zote paste on the wet stain, and left it on the sun. It worked every time. It really is mild soap because sometimes when we forgot to buy bath soap, we cut a piece of zote and took a shower with it until we bought real bath soap. I would not recommended for hair because it cleans it, but it leaves it hard just like if you used bath bar soap.
I love the liquid version! I make it for my entire family. Just made a batch yesterday! My mother asked me if it was my stress reliever when since I'm in the master's program in school, work full time, and have a family. I said yes! I have been trying to go all natural for three years and this helps being biodegradable. I will be trying the powder next. Thanks for all your videos!
When I make my laundry Detergent, I found that by microwaving the bar of Zote for about a minute (mircrowaves differ), it make cutting the bars a lot easier.
I love the powder both because it's easier to make and because it stores so easy. I got carried away and made a 5 gallon bucket full of the dry....won't have to make it for a long time. lol
+Connie D LOL!! That is too funny! Sounds like me! Hey! It's Christmas, give some in pretty glass jars to friends and family! It's what I'm going to do this year for my 'homemade' gift that I give every year.
... and don't forget to give the recipe wrote on a card attached to jar. I recently found your channel and now I'm hooked. I think you are a hoot. You seem like a woman that would fit right into my family. I've been making my own supplies of what'nots for years now and I can't wait to try your recipe for the laundry detergent!!! I usually make the liquid and a small container of dried. I still have a gallon or 2 from last year so I'll try the dry. I appreciate all your hard work into making your videos.. so thank you!!!
I gave some to my mom and sister and aunt out of my 1st batch so proud of it and my sister loved it she is planning on making her own and my aunt couldnt get over that it smelled so good and that you could make your own, mom is gonna try it this weekend when she washes and so far she loves the smell of it
Amazing!!! I was using ZOTE by itself and it works great and now even better with your recipe...l too am tired of buying laundry soap and l get much more for my money. Thank you!!
So I've started hand washing my clothes. We do not have in-unit hook ups and it's costs upwards to $4.50 for a load of laundry! So I'm now washing mine and my husband's clothing in our bath tub. It's actually really satisfying and it's giving me quite the arm work out haha! This recipe is PERFECT for what I'm doing now. No more harsh chemicals on my bare skin and unbearable perfumes in my small apartment. Thank you so much!! (Also I like this powdered version simply because I find it'll be much easier to make)
I love this idea!! Im going to make the powder version as soon as I can!! Im soooo happy I found this, because Im moving out with a friend soon and the idea of not paying for laundry soap or bleach for a year is gonna be so helpful!! Thank you for sharing!!
Okay, first off...I love, love, LOVE this recipe! I am a sceptic with just about everything I read or see. I don't buy or do anything without doing TONS of research. This recipe is NO joke! I decided to give it a try thinking what's the worse that could happen - it's $10. My first load was my 10 year old bath towels. They are excellent towels but they "smell" like old towels. I have a front loading HE washer and have tried just about every brand and "home remedy" to get that musty smell out. I used 1 level scoop as displayed in the video with a full load of towels and...BAM! Smell is 100% gone. I mean....nuthin'!! First time. One load did it. I can't wrap my head around how 1 little scoop is getting my clothes clean but who cares. My wallet is fatter for it!!! I also try to be a good steward of my finances, do a lot of canning and live a debt-free lifestyle. I have watched just about all your videos over the last few months and have learned SO much! Thank you, THANK YOU for this excellent video. So easy to follow and understand. Blessings to you and your family!! Val
Awesome! I'm glad it worked for you as well. Nothing gets my clothes 'clean' without all those migraine chemicals...My headaches are so much better for using this recipe as well. I use it even when I go to the laundry matte for my big items like blankets and such. This saves my washer and dryer from repairs if I use the industrial machines in town for comforters and sofa covers...But still, I use my recipe. Towels smell much better too.
I have to say that I love both recipes. When I run to the laundromat I take the powder for my large items. It's easier that way. I also use the powder as an abrasive around the house. I had a coffee stain on my counter and it came up easily. It also is great to use in the tub to soak stains overnight. I have hard water so I do add Calgon powder to mine. I get it at Kmart. Zote rocks! Thanks for introducing me to it.
+In a Pickle Thank you for stating this! I used to always use Cascade Liquid in my dishwasher. I used it as a "double" for Soft Scrub! Whenever I (frequently) had stains on the counter, I would use Cascade. Since we stopped, I didn't know what to do. Now I've got a way to try again! Thank you!!!
hi pickle. when you go to the laundry mat. do you put the powder in the dispenser or in the washer before the clothes? because i wana use gain scent boosters but the bottle says to put in the washer.. sooo idk if it will not dissolve from going in from the dispenser...
My gosh, ever since I did this diy laundry soap I just want to keep doing laundry....lol, it seems like I can't wait for the weekend to do laundry. Sounds crazy, right?
I Prefer the powder version because of how easy it is to make and it works awesome. I've tweeted mine to 3 cups of all the powders to 1 bar of zote soap.
I really don't know why but I like the liquid better. I know it cleans the same as the powder but I just enjoy making the liquid. I like seeing the way it sets up. Happy Birthday John! I hope your birthday is a wonderful one!
I tried the liquid version and the powdered version. I have to say i love both, but the powdered is easier to store, and I like it a little better! I have a big container of Zote that I had put in the food processor , now just have to mix it all together!
Just finished making a batch of your powdered laundry soap. Easy peasy and I think I'll prefer it to the liquid. I've tried liquid recipes in the past but wasn't happy with the performance. Yours is a much more effective-sounding recipe but my storage space is limited. (I'm a soaper = my space is crammed with soaping supplies)! Kind of a funny note: I ran some hot dish water to soak my processor after making the laundry soap. I left my dishcloth in the water as I finished cleaning up. Went back to drain the sink and wring out my dish cloth. I had a stain on my dishcloth - and I say HAD as those brief moments in that water with a trace of laundry soap removed the stain. I didn't expect that. Never crossed my mind. Think I'm gonna love this stuff - woot!! :D Thanks for sharing the recipe!!
I love the powdered version, I switched from the liquid version purely for storage. I made this recipe such a long time ago I had to refresh my memory with this great tutorial. I use the powder for everything: down the sink to freshen the drains/reduce grease build up, to wash out household bins, this is my go to product for washing the floors, and best of the best, soaking glass/ceramic dishes after roasting. The tough residue come off so easily, no hard scrubbing and the oven dishes sparkle - even the old ones. Zote is very difficult to get in the UK, and expensive. So I sometime use a Portuguese laundry bar which costs about the same as a 400g bar of Zote in £ sterling. It works exactly the same. We don't have HE washing machines in the UK, only front loaders, and I use a Tablespoon for regular laundry, 40 degree wash maybe 1.5 tablespoons for sheets/towels, 60 degree wash, my clothes are fresh, whites white and even older stains have gone which the commercial stuff didn't remove, plus I live in a hard water area. Tip: For greasy stains or marks a bit of washing up liquid on garment/item prior to washing will work. I've tried this many times and always a success. If you are new to making your own detergent, don't be disheartened, persevere, and save your money, plus with this recipe you simply cannot go wrong. Let the smear campaign from the commercial companies continue - they are obviously desperate, and yes they should worry. Thanks J, as always.
Thank you! I tried the Fels Naptha usual version, and though it did clean well, it left my whites looking grayed out a bit. I also tried both wet and dry, but with the original recipe I went through the dry version much more quickly than the liquid. I will give this a shot, as I have little storage space left, due to all our preps. So a powdered version would be soooo nice.
I have been using this recipe for 3 months now, and I absolutely love it! Our clothes smell so good and they're so much brighter. I honestly feel like everything comes out even cleaner than my favorite laundry powder that I was buying before (which cost me an arm and a leg and didn't last long). But, the proof is in the pudding, because when I washed my pets bedding and they came out smelling like fresh linens, I was shocked! This is the best recipe ever. And I've tried a few that don't come close!
i made the liquid version 3 yrs ago, lasted 2 years, and made the powder last year and it lasted a year. Love making homemade laundry detergent. And love both of your vids of homemade laundry detergent as well. God bless you
I just made the liquid detergent. Oh what fun! I mixed the first part as you did on the stove and poured it into my bucket. Then I mixed the rest of the ingredients on the stove with hot water until dissolved then I mix the two together it was a lot easier than bending over the bucket and stirring for a long period of time. I just used a wire whisk at the stove and my broom handle once it was all together. It turned out PERFECT! Gals at work want to do it too. Thank you so much!
I love your testimonial! It saves money and it IS so much fun to make! We stayed at a B&B over the weekend and they had an antique tub and lid in the laundry room...I lifted the lid and there was my powder recipe filling the bowl! I had brought my own...but our RV caught fire and we'd gotten our rv towed and with it went needed items I did not have time to grab...so...when I saw that home-made detergent...I was uplifted! I called her later and t hanked them... and she recognized me from my video! LOL! What fun she said, in making it for her lodge guests!
I LOVE THIS...use two kitchen bags to mix though, Double and add all your ingredients. Tie odd one at a time and press out air/ tie off outer bag and do the same press out air & tie. THIS is perfect to then roll and mix without any fear of spilling out. After 20-30 "rolls" then do what you did with the corner "snip & pour" into the glass jar and it is perfectly blended.
I love this recipe, thank you. I use the powdered due to storage. Usually I prefer liquid, I made this once before and I was quite surprised to find the powder to dissolve nicely.
storage and easier to make. I make this all the time. the liquid is ok, but harder to store and it doesn't last very long. Janie, keep up the good work!
Thank you soooo much! I’m actually running out of commercial brand laundry detergent and boy am I glad! I’m so tired of spending money and not getting my clothes clean! This is awesome!
Thumbs up and Thanks. On your liquid soap, you should use a paint mixing whisk that attaches to a drill. It will mix your liquid soap up super fast with no mess and wont incorporate air into it if you leave it under the liquid at all times and mix it on low. Just a thought to try. It shouldn't soap up either because you'll be mixing it slowly.
I have been making a slightly different version of this for about four years (I leave out the oxygen product) and I love it. I have saved hundreds and hundreds of dollars making my own. I buy the ZOTE or Fels Nafta months ahead of time so that it dries out some then grate it with a small grater that I keep just for that purpose. Then I keep it all in a recycled plastic Italian water ice container.
we use the powder I like the simple small space it can have and for us a home of 7 lasts longer. some days I have more loads then usual but I get average 9 to 11 months. I'll need to make some more in a month or so I'm getting low and your video reminded me to do so thank you
Wherever the big guy say i don't care, i have so many allergies this is heaven for me. All detergent gave me itching i just wash my clothes with baking soda and vinegar but this soap is the right one thank you
Just wanted to add my experience and a cautionary note. I made a small version-1 Zote bar, etc (recipe below) and my soap bar cut beautifully. I further cut it into about 1 inch pieces because it was so soft and put about half the chips and about 1 cup of the soda into my Vitamix...nope...it all packed down nice and tight into the bottom and wouldn't budge! So I plunked it all out and tried the same thing in my BlendTec...night and day! That soap and washing soda whirred right into a nice powder. I processed the rest this way and then put it all through again to make sure I had a very fine powder for the HE front loader I have. I absolutely LOVE the smell (I did not use any scent enhancers) and it made a nice canister full which should last at least 6 months. Annnd I"m laughing...for the first time EVER, something bested the Vitamix and brought it to its knees. But even better...I had put some parmesan in the Vitamix about a year ago and they didn't like each other. I had a permanent film on the inside of the container. Well, in cleaning out this soap remainder from the container, I put about a cup of hot water and some vinegar and let it run about 1 minute to make sure all the bar soap was out from under the blades. Finished running it, rinsed it in the sink and By Gum! that film was gone! So, I'm very excited about seeing what it will do with my laundry! Thanks for a great video and such good instructions.
The same thing happened to me with my vitamix and washing soda... I also use my kitchen aid processor to make a beautiful fine powder.... Just love it!
I am a new subscriber and I love this video. You cut chemicals, save money and have a lot of fun making making these helpful videos. Thank you for sharing your time and caring about people! Blessings always!!
Thanks for sharing, I am a semi preper or so sais my friends so thanks for the savings and ideas. I like powder mostly for storage, and a friend and I make it and share so powder is best
Here's the thing people...WE are so obsessed with clean it verges on. OCD behavior. These homemade formulas are amazing. Use only smallest amount necessary to clean your clothes. Most people live in AC, have AC IN their vehicles, work in AC environments so your clothes ARE NOT soiled after wearing once. Give yourself and your washing machine a break and don't become a slave to washing clothes endlessly. If your a blue collar worker or enjoy sports or gardening, then yes, your clothes are getting soiled. I sew alot so I wash ALOT of material for pre-shrinking and removing sizing. I'm a factory worker and an avid gardener. I love doing my own yard work and I shelter 8 community cats. Therefore I qualify for ' She who needs to wash much
Janie, I love your videos. I have made both the liquid and powder version and they both work great. I prefer the dry because I make it up with no scent crystals in a big container. Because I love different scents, I then take a Quart out of my bucket , add my ALIVE powder or the scent crystals of choice at the time and put it in a mason jar. Now I don't have to wait to finish a large quantity before changing scents. If I desire a gallon of liquid, I take some out, (about 1/4 cup) mix it with a gallon of hot water ad now I have my liquid fix! Lol. Thanks again!
Also! When making the liquid, I add a small (33 load) size bottle of a commercial detergent. It can be an inexpensive brand, to my 5 gallon bucket. I have found this keeps my mixture from gelling to thickly. It stays like store bought detergent and I don't need to shake it and it won't separate!
I use the powder version because it stores great! My daughter is 5 and has very sensitive skin and it works so well. It doesn't seem to bother her at all even with the full amount of borax incorporated. Thank you for sharing about zote soap! My family loves it. Could you do a body wash with zote soap? something to think about. Merry Christmas!
Hi, Janie-I made a double version of the liquid and have 20 gallons to use before I even attempt the dry but my sister and mom woukd like the dry and requested it for Christmas. I put my recipes in my homestead binder for safe keeping. This is goingb in there now as well. All my adult gifts This year will be homemade including the dryer balls. On a different note, your book arrived yesterday and can't wait to dig in.
I absolutely love your recipe! I make both versions of this because I just love making it, plus I give it to family as well. I like both powder and liquid versions!
So sweet you make both so you can give to your mom. So nice. I just made a batch but at the moment I have to go to the laundry place to use their machines so I'm using powder right now.
I just finished a double batch. The Zote soap was so fresh it cut like soft cheese. I put a cup of washing soda in the bottom of my Ninja blender, added cut up Zote and put a cup on top. It blended fairly well, but was still lumpy. After I mixed all the ingredients together, I blended it again in 4 cup amounts. Yes, it took longer, but was perfect afterwards. It smells great. Thank you so much for this great recipe. I probably won’t need to make more for three years!
I love the powder better because I can store it better, made this about 2 months ago and have given away some sample baggies to friends and family they all love the smell and how it worked, I still have plenty left to last long time, I love it wished I had been making this long time ago, I also made the fabric softener and underarm deodorant love those to, Thanks for these videos :)
I prefer to use the Zote flakes myself. If you prefer to use the bar soap instead, open it up & leave on the counter for 2-3days to dry out it will grind into powder much easier. I also don't use the Borax I use from Fresh 'N Clean Laundry Detergent Powder with a Spring Fresh Scent from the Dollar Tree but I used everything else & I add a sent booster to mine. I love it
Oh...that sounds so good rt now...I love that scent. My mom still wears LOVES BABY SOFT perfume. I always wanted to make a batch that smells like my mom! Is that crazy or what?! LOL! Where did you buy your scent?
I prefer the powder detergent...one. my washer is in the basement which gets very cold in winter and the liquid tends to thicken or even freeze. Two, I'm over 65 and can't physically lift the liquid container. Third, the powder is just easier to make and store...I keep mine in a 5-gallon bucket with a lid next to the washer. This recipe looks even easier than the one I have been makimg... will give it a try..
I had an unexpected thing happen. I apparently had a film of fabric softener on my washer, and this detergent completely cleaned out my washer. I had green gunk from the fabric softener in globs around the washer lolol, and I clean my washer regularly. Best detergent ever!
One other thing. My boys play hockey, and I have to wash most of their gear, but the smell doesn't quite come all of the way out. I just washed some of it, and the smell is GONE! Is there a way that this can be made into a febreeze type spray?
Just made the powder! Thank you! I just feel like powder leaves less residue and less messy than liquid. It was my first time doing DIY and do not think I’ll go back to store bought premodern detergent.
Thank you! We have tried the powder & liquid recipes from your videos. Both work GREAT! I do not have a favorite. I made both and use whatever I am in the mood for that day :) We shared with family, and they are mixed on which one they prefer. Either way, it saves money and we enjoy making them together....its a fun day for the sisters :) We store it in old Mason Jars and it keeps just fine! (We tried to find the awesome oxygen in our local Dollar Tree, and they did not have it. So, we went to their website and ordered it online; they shipped to their store for free!)
I have used both. I am currently using the liquid but after this batch is gone I’ll be switching back to powder. After I moved to the country our area has terrible water pressure and it’s too expensive to have a regular washer and dryer. I have a Zeny portable washer and have found the powder works a lot better in it. For larger items I use the laundry mat and transporting the powder in a twist top container works a lot better.
Thanks Janie for this recipe. I cant wait to try it. I have my Zote and will be making the powdered version this week. I love liquid detergent, however for longer term storage I will opt for powdered because of storage.. Thanks Again Our Little Homestead!
Soon I will make the powder version. And the liquid later probably for my grandma and surprise her and see what she says and tell her to never send 20$ on longery again and even tho it says 96 loads lol.
I ecwrything here plus i add 3 things that you may not think of at dollar tree... they have sun detergent(filler ingredient), powder color safe bleach filler ingredient very effective on brightnening colors), and those fabric softner scent boosters crystals (like glade essentials ) all u need is the one or two scoops super clean clothes I got several videos on my channel about it
Hey Janie! I've been using your recipe for many months and love it. I'm the one from Canada who uses dove soap instead of Zote. I was wondering if you heard of anyone who used this recipe for cloth diapers. I'm expecting beginning November and will be using cloth diapers. The instructions are to use commercial reputable soap. Just making sure. Thanks!
Borax can affect a baby boys' hormones so keep the borax out of the recipe. Use just the zote and washing soda. Bit of baking soda is okay too. No aluminium in the baking so is good either. So check your lable when making baby laundry soap. zote is great for baby laundry. Cut the oxycleaner down to l/4 cup as well. Check for redness on bum area often or until you know you got it right. Best wishes. If not, use Deft.
Years ago, a repairman for my washing machine, told me it was better to use liquid detergent than powder. He said it leaves a gritty build-up on the inside of machines. He showed me it inside my machine. Since than I've been using liquid. But I'd would still make the powder for other uses around the house. Thanks Janie!
I had seen all these diy detergents about 2 months ago but had just bought a huge thing of gain (which has been our go to for years) but we're about out now so I just bought all the stuff to make my own. I'm gonna start w the powder form (even though we always use liquid gain) because it seems easier and much less to have to find containers for. I might try the liquid next. My husband is really hesitant about it... afraid we might an allergic reaction or it won't clean as well but he's up for trying. I got a great deal on scent booster a couple months ago because a couple scents were on close out so we literally paid about 13 bucks for everything today. Excited to see how long it last!

OMG I didnt know companies did that, thanks for the info. Anyway I'm not big on brands and I do love making my own cruelty and chemical free products.

Amen.
I love this!!! I love zote too!
Just a hint...I loose things so I laminate this recipe and put it at the bottom of the fresh made batch, so when I run out I won't have to find the recipe.
+Connie D excellent idea!!
+Connie D Oooh, EXCELLENT idea! Thank you so much!
Great idea Connie! Don't feel bad I also forget or loose things.
Not that's a pro tip!
I gave some to my mom and sister and aunt out of my 1st batch so proud of it and my sister loved it she is planning on making her own and my aunt couldnt get over that it smelled so good and that you could make your own, mom is gonna try it this weekend when she washes and so far she loves the smell of it
I love making my own laundry soap because I enjoy how it cleans. The measuring scoop is actually 2TBSP. Love the video.
Thanks for sharing. I prefer the powdered version, easier to measure and stores well in cabinet.
+Jennifer W I put soap in first then clothing
My gosh, ever since I did this diy laundry soap I just want to keep doing laundry....lol, it seems like I can't wait for the weekend to do laundry. Sounds crazy, right?
Dahon Mendoza
Lol too funny! No not crazy I love clean clothes too!
I Prefer the powder version because of how easy it is to make and it works awesome. I've tweeted mine to 3 cups of all the powders to 1 bar of zote soap.
+Joseph Longmire Thanks for the tip!! Happy New Year!
Fantastic recipe! I've been making my own laundry detergent for awhile now, but I think yours is the best and most cost-effective.
I like both recipe's but the dry is faster, easier, and a space saver. Both are fun to make.😁
I really don't know why but I like the liquid better.
I made this version recently, I love it. I find since I started making my own soap, my wash is much cleaner, I really do.
Walmart has Zote in flake form already made in a box ....just sayin' :)
+momof2 Oh! Can't wait till ours gets it in stock!
Not my store
Not my store
Just tried the liquid last nite and I love it ! I used it to clean my whole kitchen! thank you so much for this recipe! Gonna try the dry today!!!
I use the powered because of storage space takes up less room.
Thanks Janie
We live in a 1 bedroom apartment so I chose the powdered version to save space.
Could you please type out the recipe so I can print it? Thank you!
And I've tried a few that don't come close!
janie i like the powder best because i am disabled and it is easier for me to make
i made the liquid version 3 yrs ago, lasted 2 years, and made the powder last year and it lasted a year.
Your videos are the best I have seen on the youtube. I have learned a lot from your videos Thank you so much
Ok made mine and love it. I didn't even put in any smell. It's just a clean smell just as it is. Thanks so much.
I love your powder version. I use 2 tbsp for every load on standard machines.
I made the liquid version and love it. My family loves it too. I'm looking forward to trying the powder version. Thank you!!!
I prefer powder because it scrubs the clothes more. I use Zote too. It's biogradeble. So it's good for the environment too.
we use the powder I like the simple small space it can have and for us a home of 7 lasts longer. some days I have more loads then usual but I get average 9 to 11 months. I'll need to make some more in a month or so I'm getting low and your video reminded me to do so thank you
Wherever the big guy say i don't care, i have so many allergies this is heaven for me. All detergent gave me itching i just wash my clothes with baking soda and vinegar but this soap is the right one thank you
Awesome!!!! Reduce the Borax if itching begins....you can adjust this recipe to meet your needs. I love zote soap on it's own as well!
Thanks for a great video and such good instructions.
if you put in a cup of washing soda first then add the soap, it helps it not to gum up in any blender.
sandy k . you forgot to post the recipe! please I want to read yours.
You wash your close in Alive shake mix?

I use the powder version because it stores great! My daughter is 5 and has very sensitive skin and it works so well. It doesn't seem to bother her at all even with the full amount of borax incorporated. Thank you for sharing about zote soap! My family loves it. Could you do a body wash with zote soap? something to think about. Merry Christmas!
I have made both recipes. My liquid version several gallon bottles leaked from the bottom. I have found the powder store’s better. Thank you
Hi, Janie-I made a double version of the liquid and have 20 gallons to use before I even attempt the dry but my sister and mom woukd like the dry and requested it for Christmas.
And, look at your paycheck next time...watch it go further...that is like getting a raise! YEAH!! Happy Fourth!!
@@OurLittleHomestead I just made a batch. I'm doing a load of laundry now is it supposed to have suds?
I'm going to try this. We are fulltime RV family and that will safe us money and space.
I love Zote soap too Janie!
Thanks for directing me to the dry version 😊
I use the dry mixture. Just because of storage. Thanks!
I love it
I use the powder recipe:)
I add baby oil scent and it makes it smell fresh
I make and use the powder version. It works great.
I made the liquid version and it works great.
I cant wait to make this recipe! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
I had an unexpected thing happen. I apparently had a film of fabric softener on my washer, and this detergent completely cleaned out my washer. I had green gunk from the fabric softener in globs around the washer lolol, and I clean my washer regularly. Best detergent ever!
Yeah!!!
One other thing. My boys play hockey, and I have to wash most of their gear, but the smell doesn't quite come all of the way out. I just washed some of it, and the smell is GONE! Is there a way that this can be made into a febreeze type spray?
I find the powder to be best for the storage. I add Purex lavender crystals also.
Thanks for this video I don’t have space to do liquid so I will be trying this powder version and it sounds great
Just made the powder!
I use powdered because easy to store and easy to fix.
You are so smart!!! #goals -
love you
I use both your powder and liquid and I love both for my family of 5. Blessed to find you here. I love zote!!!
I just made "whipped" soap 2 qts, made the liquid years ago. Live the idea of 2 qts the 5 gallons worth is much better
I'm getting low on my liquid now so I have decided to try the dry, I will let you know. As of right now we all love the liquid.
Hello this has to be the best & easy made i ever seen ...i will try thxs🙂🙂!
I like the idea of the powder because I don't have lots of space for the huge amounts of liquid.
Love your recipe. That looks like a big tablespoon scoop. I think I'll measure that oxy scoop next time. Thumbs up on thee best recipe.
Thank you Janie for your reply. I so respect your opinion.
I used the liquid .havent made this yet but i will ..love you videos
I ecwrything here plus i add 3 things that you may not think of at dollar tree... they have sun detergent(filler ingredient), powder color safe bleach filler ingredient very effective on brightnening colors), and those fabric softner scent boosters crystals (like glade essentials ) all u need is the one or two scoops super clean clothes I got several videos on my channel about it
I love this laundry detergent... I use the powder...Thank you Janie.
I normally use Tide liquid, but for this, it's going to be easier to use the powder.
Excited to see how long it last!
ii like the liquid..... just because i enjoy making it. and its great as a multi purpose cleaner on floors.. bathrooms... laundry...walls
Thanks soooo much for this video. Its gonna save me tons of money!
I have made the dry because of the convenience of quick make and use.
I love the liquid as I adore making it. I also think the liquid works better as it is liquid.
I totally agree!
Thank you for the recipe Janie:) Late, but, Happy Birthday John:)
