I agree with Elias Cuevas, EVERYONE in mexico owns a few bars of Zote soap, we love it!!! it's the best for: *pre-soak your kids white socks *cut a piece and place it in your garbage can (not in the bag, but in the actual trash can 😆) helps eliminate odors! *great for baby formula stains *wash dishes *wash make up brushes *great to remove dry flaky coulis on your feet!! 👍👍 *I grew up in the 80s so i used white keds sneakers and ZOTE would remove any grass stains and brighten them! *great for acne! I promise this soap will dry out the acne and magically make your pimples dissappear! ! *my aunts in mexico used it to remove the "mask of pregnancy " also known as melasma that some pregnant women get during pregnancy!! I can go on and on of many uses for this fantastic affordable soap!! 😆
Hi, Liz, it's not about pregnancy 'smells' but pregnancy mask which is a discoloration of the skin during pregnancy. Women say it helps with this. Do some major research first before trying though. I could not say on this as I did not have Zote soap around while I was pregnant, which was many years ago. We have eight children and hubby teaches medicine; he says this is unfounded science. I would agree as I have only ever heard women who 'say' that it works for lightening this condition. Here is a webpage on the subject. www.babycenter.com/0_skin-darkening-during-pregnancy_222.bc
Just to let everyone know that T*DE has a smear campaign to stop us all from teaching/making our own detergents, by posing as reg ppl and saying that the homemade detergents ruined their expensive clothes and streaked it like bleach! I like the idea of grabbing several bars everytime you go to walmart. I went today and grabbed 4 boxes of everything + 8 bars of zote. That is my plan to keep stocked up. My 35lb bucket from the cat litter I use makes a perfect storage bucket for this detergent and I cant wait to try this.
This is genius. I have four or five bars of Zote in the garage that I bought on impulse because they were only 2 for $1. I had no idea what I was going to use it for...now I have a ton of uses thanks to you! ;)
Hi Janie, This soap is amazing my parents are from Mexico and grew yo with this soap. My aunts loved this soap when they are in their menstrual cycle. It helps eliminate the odor. Controls the odor and keeps them feeling clean.
Zote is THE hand laundry and general cleaning soap of choice for millions of careful homemakers, wives, and mothers along the US mexico border. It's like the swiss army knife, seriously, "there's nothing it can't do!"
I know this is an older post, but just wanted to let you know. I grated and melted a bar of Zote and made an all purpose cleaner out of it. It is amazing. I used it in my steam cleaner and the floors turned out great. I used it for a bathroom cleaner and on my kitchen counters. I wished I hadn't waited so long to make it.
I love it!! So some people won’t believe me but I use it as a face cleanser, yes I wash my face day and night with zote. It controls my oils and leaves my skin acne free, feeling fresh and clean. After I wash my face I use face moisturizer and I’m done.
If you mentioned it, I missed it. Zote works well in any small bowl with a shaving brush to make shaving lather that beats the canned foam any day. One 14 ounce bar lasted me for almost six months of daily shaves.
There is citronella in this soap although it is not listed. There are several brands of this kind of soap here in Mexico and many of them list citronella and don't have as strong a citronella scent as Zote (pronounced zo-tay). Yes, those of us who live in Mexico use this soap and it's been around for decades. "our little homestead" has made some suggestions that I never thought of!! This is one of the nice things that happen when different cultures share knowledge.
The white zote soap is great for washing the face it also helps for anti-acne it helps on blemishes and acne prone skin, I know I m still using it myself and there is a big difference on my facial skin, it even cleared my blemishes plus it's very inexpensive.
My mom has used this as I was growing up for laundry use.I am of Mexico descent and I've noticed it's more popular among them. She loves how white it leaves the white load. But I don't think she is aware of the other benefits. Will be sure to share all these tips with her. I have struggled with oily hair. Can not wait to try it on my hair.
I didn't know Zote does all those things and I'm grateful for you to let us in on those helpful hints. I already use the Zote soap (pink & white) by shaving it using a grater and place it in a big 99¢ container and use a sprinkle worth for each laundry load. I love your videos, I'm now a subbie😊
it gets rid of white fly on your herb plants. It removes blood stains baby clothes stains, It also removes makeup from face it also gets rid of acne my gradma used it for everything in Mexico
My husband goes through bar soap like crazy so I asked him to try a bar of zote soap. He did he's still using it on his second week and no dry skin, I am impressed. I use soap also to make laundry detergent but I make it dry, it takes up less space. I love soap soap.
for less than $1 I have figured out how to take one bar of zote and make one full gallon of liquid soap. I use this liquid soap for dishes and washing hands. Next I'm going to try and put some coconut oil in a little bit of this liquid soap and see how it is as a body wash. This soap is very natural rinses off does not leave a residue you can feel your dishes when your rinse them squeaky clean it gets grease off of my husband's tools it is an amazing soap.
+curvbyb5qua3 Should buy several in case they quit carrying it...I have a video on all the uses for Zote soap...so many it is my number one prepper item! I even my dish liquid from it and my stain remover...all videos you can find on my channel. Be sure and watch and get more ideas out of that zote bar!
Wow! I just discovered zote, I came here to find interesting uses for it. Your video is everything I was looking for. THANKS

I love the way my clothes feel after they finish washing they feel clean there's no residue from water softeners or scents I love that when it's hot & im working my body doesn't get all sticky anymore I noticed when I did laundry with detergent & when I didn't use store bought I wasn't sticky from sweating it was clean sweat I was so happy about that fact
God bless you talking of Zote soap!!!! I'm preparing for highly consitraited soap that beyond my homemade lye soap has been asked for by my personal family and friends!
I have made homemade laundry soap for years. I was amazed at the cost savings. The bar soap on the laundry aisle (that isn't a major brand like Tide) is so economical and has so many multipurposes. It's on my stock-up item list.
Thanks for all the tips! I stashed several bars for emergency use. Figured whatever was dirty:floors, clothes, self; a good bar of soap would take care of it.
Zote is that go-to bar of soap that some women have now written me and said it even removes their acne better than expensive lotions! It would be a great storage bar for teens too!
Here in Spain I use Castille soap or Marseille soap. 100% Natural. No optical brightners which are chemicals and are absorbed into your skin. We use Lagarto or Omino Bianco. Also I buy Dr Bronners 18 in 1 liquid Castile soap for showering.
Me to-big fan here... if it wasn't for me being raised by my grandmother i would have never known about it. we used it to make all kinds of different things. but I sure appreciate these vids, wisdom and knowledge come from the wise....Thank you for this, can't get enough info on Zote...
l love zote soap I I usually have a lot of guests especially during the holidays so what I do is slice them into mini bars and put them into the guest bathrooms. There the perfect size. for handwaving plus you gave me a great idea to make them into sachets for your dresser drawers . They smell excellent! Thx Janie for another great video and awesome tips!!
Awesome tip! I bet the guest all love it too! Plus it keeps the natural lemon balm or citronella helps to keep the mosquitoes at bay! My neighbor is always asking me why he's always getting bit and I'm not when we're out chatting by their house and I tell him, I wash my clothes in zote and on really bad days I rub the bar directly on my pants and sleeves and head out to the garden. My husband does this too. The scent rejects bugs while we work or just take a long walk. I've been putting small pcs around my yard to repel bugs naturally as well. That has helped with rabbits eating my lemon and lime tree leaves.
I haven't used Zote Soap, primarily because I haven't come across the stuff (thought to look at Elliot's (and they didn't have it or even know what I was talking about!), but never crossed my mind when I was at Walmart, now the place closed). But I love the smell of citronella and look forward to buying it whenever I see it at the store. I want to make the powdered detergent, since it takes so little to use at a time and when I made detergent from just whatever I found at Elliot's and _even then_ I was amazed at how clean my clothes smelled! If the dye is good enough for _them,_ it's good enough for _me,_ and I think the detergent would look really pretty, pink or blue!
@TheMsLady4Real; first your reply button is turned off for me to respond so I hope you see this message. Second, I have not answered your questions because my daughter got married Sunday and I've been away from my computer as I've done all the planning as she is in Texas and then we had several days of clean-up! Third, I HAVE NOT BEEN PAID BY ANY SOAP, or other associated products to this SOAP COMPANY FOR ANY of THESE PRODUCTS. PERIOD. NOR HAVE I RECEIVED FREE PRODUCTS FROM THEM. Everything I said is honestly and truly my personal opinion. I LOVE ZOTE SOAP! I buy bars every time I see it on a shelf. I have extra boxes of Borax and Washing Soda as well. I believe it is the best laundry detergent you can make at home. Again, all just in my opinion. I do promote other items based on my reviews ONLY, and that I test and love and give honest reviews on items as I come across them; items that just rock my world. just get more airtime. I will say this to all my fans; I do have a 'new' sponsor and I am announcing that next officially next week; a camping supply store for prepping/camping equipment. I only accepted them as my channel and their products are like two peas in a pod. I will still give only HONEST reviews of any product they send me; if I don't like it, you'll know it, even if it's sponsored items. That is why they chose me. And you'll also know the product I am sponsoring because I'll say the name of the company in each sponsored product video. No hidden buys or money changing hands. We all got to make a living. I'll never be ashamed of that.
Jennifer W blue dawn dish soap!! Kills flees *INSTANTLY* I spent an arm and a leg (& probably my other arm and leg lol) & my dog still had flees after using flee treatments from the vets
I LOVE the scent of Zote soap. I just started using. My first project was I shredded a palm full of it and put into a small drawstring jewelry bag(the ones you get with a purchase) and I hung in my bathroom on the back end of the toilet paper 🧻 holder. As a smell good air freshener. A very small space so it should cover it pretty well. Thanks for the ideas!
@ Janie can zote soap be used to make shampoos and body wash? I can't get enough of the scent i have a zote soap on my coffee table and i keep sniffing that amazing scent smells just like lemon verbena . Thank you for all the information you share for people to be self -sustainable and GOD is with those who look out for others from a distance just by sharing knowledge you have helped me and a lot of people out there. May ALLAH bless you !
Thank you for all of your wonderfully, frugal ideas! Some I would've even thought of! Many Blessings to you, your family and viewers! Good luck with your new sponsor. Your right, everyone does need to make money and thank you for your honesty.
I use Zote soap to wash my makeup brushes. Works very well. I use a horse grooming tool that is made of a silicone rubber in an oval shape that has really small soft bristles on one side and little bumps on the other side and you can slip it over your hand to wash the animal. It is about the size of The palm of your hand in because of the very soft bristles and bumps, you can rub the soap onto the little bristles/bumps and wet your make up brushes and then just gently run them over the bumps and bristles on the grooming mitt and it works just as well as the brush cleaning mats that are way overpriced. The grooming mitt can be priced anywhere from $1-$5
Can't find Zote soap in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I use Sunlight pure laundry bar soap instead --$2 for 3 bars at Wal-Mart. Smells like lemon. Use it the same way you do.
I don't remember when I started buying this soap but I always got in trouble as a kid for trying to wash my clothes with the Irish Spring, so when I saw the term LAUNDRY SOAP, needless to say I flipped. 😉
I am new to making home made cleaning products.... today I bought my first bunch of Zote soap. I am soooooo excited ! I wish I had known about this many years ago when I was raising my family. But, I'm doing it now. I do have a question for you....I think you mentioned that Zote can be used for a shampoo..... Can you tell me more about this? I would love to know ! Thanks so much ! :)
It's funny you wash your dog at a car wash. Where I live there is a pet wash co-located at a local automatic car wash. I always found that a curious combo.
I loved your video! I´ve been a fan of Zote Soap for many years now, but my use of it was -up until now- limited to laundry and dishwashing; now I heard it can be used as a shampoo and body bar?? Woww... I am amazed!!! Just gotta run to the store and get a bunch more, can´t wait to try all of your recipes!
I got a giggle about mechanics washing up using zote. As a teenager, I worked on cars. I washed the axel grease out of my waist-length blonde hair using Tide! Small world, isn't it?
Made my first batch of laundry soap my wife is skeptical so wish me luck maybe when she sees the savings won’t be a laughing matter . I did cause my skin is sensitive to all the stuff they put it .
If it's more scent, add some booster scent crystals to each load. But I got away from chemical filled versions too...migraines were horrific and joint pain. It all got 80% better when I stopped the high-perfumed stuff. Now, when in the store, I avoid those chemical filled isles best I can! If you have a reaction, use less borax...or remove the baking soda...and see how that works for you. Play with the recipe till you get it how you like it. Very versitile. Tell your wife to clean her make up brushes with the zote itself...and she'll love you for buying it for that alone! Bristles come clean quickly and so soft! I use it on my husky and she glows white!
Does it repel fleas also?? Just wondering and also I've added liquid fabric softener to my homemade Landry soap and it smells great! I the used fels naptha bar but next time I'm getting Zote. Does the white zote bar repel bugs and do the same as the pink?
It does help with fleas. I have used to wash my dogs and carpet to get rid of fleas. I prefer the white. But pink works ok. I have used it for lice also.
i really enjoyed watching your video it was really infORmative and gave me lots of inspiration. thankh you and bless you and your grandson Carter. iLove ZOTE soap!!!
Wow, this stuff sounds like magic! I've bought a couple bars to make homemade laundry detergent and am looking forward to the other uses you mentioned. Thank you so much! I have GOT to try that recipe for your wood floors.
I use vinegar and baking soda to clean my oven. The vinegar will react with the baking soda and gently foam. Do a final wipe down: Take your damp cloth and wipe out the remaining foamy vinegar-baking-soda mixture. Repeat until all the baking soda residue is gone. Add more water or vinegar to your cloth as needed while wiping to really get the oven clean and shiny.
Wow, great video. I am in love. I learned so much with you and heading to see the other detergentes that can be done with the soap. Thank you for sharing, I love, love, love, love this video.
Janie - I use your laundry detergent and dish soap detergent exclusively and love Zote almost as much as you do! Did you know it's AMAZING for cleaning your makeup brushes? I keep a sliver in a travel soap container. Just rub your brush right on the bar with some water and its brand new!
+Jacqueline Youmans That is awesome! I do clean my make up brushes with the 'stain remover' bottle stuff I make too! The make up comes right out of the bristles and washes right down the drain! I rinse well and put a touch of hair conditioner on them and rub in. rinse again and let dry on paper towels. I've had my brush set for 2 years, no sign of real wear and all bristles are still there as far as I can tell!
Did you ever use it in the garden to stop the different bugs in the garden? I was wondering if it would work there. What do you think? I also love zote. I tried Fels Naptha and made my laundry deterget out of that one year and I couldn't wait till that year was up to go back to zote. It really does keep bugs away. It's amazing.
+Wendy Reinert I did a chunk of it in each corner of my garden last year; it did not stop the tomato worms; ugh!! It did seem to help stop any mosquitoes around that area while I gardened there. It also seemed to help with the zucchini leave munchers as well. It helped keep the bugs at bay, somewhat. I say anything is better than nothing, right? You could do your own experiment and see. Just don't let the bar 'melt' down into the soil as it has brighteners. Use a plastic tub with lid...I punched holes in the sides... Seemed to work best this way. I did a video on this and will make another one in a week or so. Still mulching my landscape areas. YIKES! I'm so sore!
+Janie Pendleton Thanks...those Zucchini bugs are horrible. Seems there is a different bug for every plant in the garden. I bought the zote again to do my laundry again and to make dish soap and I just love it. I love that if you happen to spill something on yourself while you are eating I take some of my dish soap and wipe it off before the stain sets. I have prevented coffee from setting into white t shirts. I think it's all because mostly the same ingredients are in the dish soap as in the laundry detergent. But I was wondering if it would work in the garden and if you tried it, before I waste my time. So I'll be waiting for your next video. They are great! I have tried so many things in the garden and my husband thinks I'm crazy. I can't believe more people don't jump on board the home made laundry soap train...it last me over a year and a half.
+Wendy Reinert Ppl want that strong scent on their clothes, then they add body lotion, perfume and hair scents.etc...and to me, I have migraines so this is a bomb when they walk past me in the stores! I like the homemade because it keeps my clothes fresher, cleaner, and not as strong to compete with other scents I may actually WANT to smell like! I play in my herb bed a lot and love it when hubby says I smell like my herb garden! What he doesn't know is that I rub lemon balm and rosemary on my wrist and neck! LOL! Natural perfume that makes him swoon! LOL! I love rubbing sage in my palms or marjoram too! I hang them in my kitchen and in my closets for sachets. Well- zote works the same way. If I'm working in the garden I rub zote bar on my pants legs and top and even on my bare arms and legs and it repells bugs and I smell like citrus all day. I love the smell of zote!
You sound exactly like a lady I go to church with and she’s a natural red head. I had to look close because you look and sound just like her. Small world. Great videos. I’ll watch more.
I just went into a Menards in Boone Co Indiana and a lady that worked there stopped me, her jaw dropped and I thought she recognized me from YT or FB but then said, I know a gal down in Southern INDIANA that LOOKS JUST LIKE YOU! Same figure, same walk, smile, hair style and red color; EVERYTHING!" I said, well- we may be related my family was all born in southern Indiana on my dad's side. She just walked off shaking her head. I must have a doppleganger down south! LOL!
I am only a few seconds into the video... so this has nothing to do with what you're saying, but you look lovely. Your make up is nice- I like that lip stick colour. Have you tried a shade with a purple hue? Like a berry shade? I bet that would be a great colour on you!
Patience Hill-Berardi I do usually wear a more deeper plum shade but hubby said my lips looked chapped so I switched to a 'reddish plum' that had lip chap in it. Lips are healed and much better. Winds here are strong and get my skin so dry. Thanks for the compliment. I've been practicing my make up for my daughter's wedding in JUNE. My dress is a neutral champagne lace (long gown). So, I'm trying to find colors that work in my light skin tone. Not easy when you have red hair too! LOL
Well, there's definitely a youtube video for that! Lots of ideas out there. My sister is graduating from high school next month, so I get to do her make up for graduation and prom (as I did for her grad pictures). Its Amazing though- she's got Italian in her (my step dad) so she's got dark, thick, luscious hair and olive skin - yet can't master doing her own fancy make up. Me, I'm quite pale (though you might win) with a blonde colour that washes my face out... So I usually go with purples and greens on my eyes. Almost always smokey eyes. I'm sure you'll look great for the wedding.... I just thought of another idea... What about the make up girls at sears and the bay (you might not have that)... they do your make for free to get you to like the products right? Maybe they can wow you with an idea you haven't though of :)
I could do that, some makeup has perfumes and I get severe migraines with scents. Also, some make up counters here have perfume counters next to them. UGH! I avoid perfume at all costs. That is the main reason I make my own laundry detergent and fabric softners...migraines! BTW-- my daughter does make up and has a channel on UA-cam as well. She'll be doing her sister's makeup for wedding and her own. I've done three makeup tutorials on my channel as well. I'm not good like she is though.
Dirtpatcheaven has issues with chemicals too. She's been getting a lot of products from an Etsy seller named Heaven. I can't remember the exact name of the business but it's nature's beauty something or other. If you ever see dirtpatcheaven's channel she mentions her quite a bit when talking about make up or beauty. That store makes custom stuff, so you can probably get something custom you your needs. Maybe make a deal with her given your subscriber count. :)
Janie, I have a white maltese dog, who is very allergic to fleas.I use frontline on him.My question is, will the zote remove the frontline? I'm enjoying your videos and am getting ready, to make up a batch of your new recipe laundry soap.We live in Southeast Georgia where the water is hard.I have a water softener, but should I add more of any one thing to help? Can I use unstoppables by downy for fragrance?
+Linda Bodder I use it on my husky and she does well; she shines and shimmers; but she takes pills not the drops on the skin, so I can not speak for that...but it has the citronella in the bar so that would help with the fleas too. You could try it on a spot on her and see if that works; and yes, you can add teh ustoppables...just be sure and leave the water level a bit low in the bucket in case it has a reaction with the oxyclean as I heard that can make it bubble up like a volcano! LOL!!
Here is an easy one: 2 bars favorite soap...(I've used shea dove, reg dov, coast, Irish Cow Milk Soap is my favorite if I can find it...etc..)and add that 'grated well to 6 cups of hot water, heat on stove over low heat till melted (no pcs like sand sized even left in pot) Let cool for 12-14 hours. Stir with stick blender if desired and put in a pump soap bottle or old body wash bottle (recycling is good). You can add a preservative if you like but I never have had an issue.
Hi Chef Janie, Do you have a homemade floor cleaner for vinyl wood flooring? My Mom always used Once and Done. I'm slowly making your products, I love your dry laundry soap and will be making your fabric softener soon :) thank you so much for sharing all of this with me😏 I'm passing it on to family and friends 😎
Hi Janie!! Long time!! I absolutely LOVE this soap and actually made your laundry detergent the first time you posted it and loved it right away. Thanks for sharing more tips for this great soap…..
93 cents?!? Omg! I’m desperate to get my hands on the pink bar just because I want to feel it and smell it (weird, I know, I’ve been told so lots lol) but here in the UK you can only buy it online and it’s £25 !!!
Wow!!! I had no idea this soap has so many advantages, I'll admit that even thou my dollar tree store sells it I've never even looked at it probably because it does look fancy like the other soaps bars in the market but I promise next time I'll buy one and try it out 😁
I have a receipe for shower cleaner. It is 1 cup Dawn dish washing liquid, 1 cup cleaning vinegar, and warm water. Place in spray bottle, shake, spray on shower walls. Let sit 1 hour then rinse. no scrubbing needed. It works pretty well. Can you improve on this?
Here are a few of my favorite recipes for tub and tile and glass door cleaner (this first one is foaming action, spray and let it foam up and sit awhile, rinse off...be happy: "In a spray bottle, combine 1/3 cup ammonia, 1/4 cup white vinegar, 1/2 cup baking soda, and 7 cups of water. Spray down the shower, then watch as the vinegar and baking soda together create a cleansing, bubbling foam. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes, then wipe down the tiles and tub with a damp, soft cloth. DO NOT USE ON NATURAL STONE as vinegar can etch stone." Recipe #2: IN a spray bottle add 4 oz Blue Dawn Dish Soap, Add 4 0z white vinegar, and then add 4 0z of peroxide, (Total now is 12 oz of mixture) After adding the peroxide the mixture may fizz a little bit. Let it sit for a few seconds to let the fizzing settle and then put the sprayer lid back on the bottle Put on lid and shake till a ight blue, 20 shakes should do it. Spritz down shower walls and glass and watch it do it's thing! All the recipes above work great; but the ammonia get to me and my hands at times so like recipe 2 best. But they both work great!
They say it works in mexican water streams as the fish are used to more down there due to that fact they use the zote to wash clothes in the river and it attracks the fish...I did catch a catfish and a sunfish using this recipe and I used very tiny pcs...
Are you sure about the citronella, etc? because when I went to Walmart website, it said the ingredients are Sodium Tallowate, Sodium Cocoate, Fragrance, Optical Brightener and Violet 10 (CI 45170). Is there something I missed?
Was going to make home made laundry detergent, but we cannot get Zote soap in the UK. So went on Amazon who want £25.99 for a 14.1oz bar. That's converts to 34 dollars and 84 cents!!! Don't think I'll be making it anytime soon!
hi Janie... I tried out your laundry detergent today.. in malaysia didnt hv Zote soap.. I replace it with other soap.. I not sure the name of the soap... but it hv a deer picture on the cover of the soap.. it work very well..
+Kailun Nckailun Awesome! I have several friends from Malaysia! One friend, his daughter has eye cancer and he's been very worried father. Please keep him and family in your prayers! I've always wanted to visit him and his family there. I'm glad the soap is working for you!
A couple questions First I notice you use the pink zote which has softener in it. It is a Mexican bar soap for cloth. I use the white one I find it cleans better. Have you tried the white one? Where have you found the ingredients? I look at it on the bars and do not see all that stuff. There are other Mexican bar soaps that are about the same. One brand is Libra I believe if I can't find zote that's what I get. I found a better one but I haven't found it at all anywhere it's called Viva. It was great I would buy those in multiples.
+Theonea Martinez The only difference between the white zote and the pink zote is an organic dye in the pink zote. Nothing that would change how to clean clothes. www.zote.com.mx/english/about.htm
I have used for years when hand washing and for my hair and body. The pink has softener and the white works better. The smell is differant also. Thanks for the link showing the ingredients.
I agree with Elias Cuevas, EVERYONE in mexico owns a few bars of Zote soap, we love it!!! it's the best for:
*pre-soak your kids white socks
*cut a piece and place it in your garbage can (not in the bag, but in the actual trash can 😆) helps eliminate odors!
*great for baby formula stains
*wash dishes
*wash make up brushes
*great to remove dry flaky coulis on your feet!! 👍👍
*I grew up in the 80s so i used white keds sneakers and ZOTE would remove any grass stains and brighten them!
+Maricela Romero It's great for catfishing too! Pregnancy mask is so difficult to cure...great tips!!
what do you mean it hides pregnancy smells?
Hi, Liz, it's not about pregnancy 'smells' but pregnancy mask which is a discoloration of the skin during pregnancy. Women say it helps with this. Do some major research first before trying though. I could not say on this as I did not have Zote soap around while I was pregnant, which was many years ago. We have eight children and hubby teaches medicine; he says this is unfounded science. Iram Romero does have to be the pink bar or can it be the white one too
Thank you honey

I like the idea of grabbing several bars everytime you go to walmart. I went today and grabbed 4 boxes of everything + 8 bars of zote. That is my plan to keep stocked up. My 35lb bucket from the cat litter I use makes a perfect storage bucket for this detergent and I cant wait to try this.
Our Little Homestead! .
When you buy Tide or others you're paying for the name. Sometimes cheaper is better. Thanks for this video love Zote soap
This is genius. I have four or five bars of Zote in the garage that I bought on impulse because they were only 2 for $1. I had no idea what I was going to use it for...now I have a ton of uses thanks to you! ;)
Hi Janie,
This soap is amazing my parents are from Mexico and grew yo with this soap.
It’s 2020 & we are all tuning in to your channel learning.
59 cent at the 99 cent store here in Cali.
PopGoesNappy hey love which 99 cent store.. 99 cent ONLY
+PopGoesNappy .... just got some there today :)
WHATS THE NAME OH THE DOLLAR TREE STORE YOU TALK BOUT THOUGH?!
99 Cents only IS the name of the dollar store
If you mentioned it, I missed it. Zote works well in any small bowl with a shaving brush to make shaving lather that beats the canned foam any day. One 14 ounce bar lasted me for almost six months of daily shaves.
ndrthrdr1 I did not know that! Thanks for the tip!

+Brenda Aguirre Let us know how it works for your hair! I love zote!
It sure does, took away my bad acne
- pest repellent
- make dishwashing liquid
- make stain remover and pretteater
- helps with oily hair
- clean tools
- clean pets
- clean dishes
+Donna Reeves what is it made out of ? Do you know possibly?
+Donna Reeves I use Zote as body soap and i love it.
I see this all the time at the 99 cents store, and now I know what to do with it. Thank You so much :)
Thank You so much for sharing this, I am now going to start making my own laundry and dish soap :)
Wow! I just discovered zote, I came here to find interesting uses for it. Your video is everything I was looking for. THANKS
I love the way my clothes feel after they finish washing they feel clean there's no residue from water softeners or scents I love that when it's hot & im working my body doesn't get all sticky anymore I noticed when I did laundry with detergent & when I didn't use store bought I wasn't sticky from sweating it was clean sweat I was so happy about that fact
yes zote it is the best ! it dissolves grease . in kitchen. stove. washing clothes for skin acne everything u mention
I use ZOTE in the summer after gardening to get all the plant oils off my hands and arms and avoid poises oak and ivy.
I am going to try your laundry soap. My Grandma used this soap for ever. Thank you for sharing all you tips and tricks with us.
God bless you talking of Zote soap!!!! I'm preparing for highly consitraited soap that beyond my homemade lye soap has been asked for by my personal family and friends!
where have I been my whole life wish I knew about this years ago
I have made homemade laundry soap for years. I was amazed at the cost savings. The bar soap on the laundry aisle (that isn't a major brand like Tide) is so economical and has so many multipurposes. It's on my stock-up item list.
Thanks for all the tips! I stashed several bars for emergency use. Figured whatever was dirty:floors, clothes, self; a good bar of soap would take care of it.
Zote is that go-to bar of soap that some women have now written me and said it even removes their acne better than expensive lotions! It would be a great storage bar for teens too!
It works great to clean paint brushes too.
I love this stuff. I use it to clean my makeup brushes with it.It leave the brushes so clean and soft
I have a video up on how to do just that! It works great!
Here in Spain I use Castille soap or Marseille soap. 100% Natural. No optical brightners which are chemicals and are absorbed into your skin. We use Lagarto or Omino Bianco. Also I buy Dr Bronners 18 in 1 liquid Castile soap for showering.
ZOTE is VERY popular in Mexico, in fact the soap itself is a mexican brand.
My Grandma use to wash her dog in the water from her ringer washer. She made her own laundry detergent, so that’s what cleaned him.
Oh, I love the idea of this working on fleas and ticks! My dogs got fleas last year, and NONE of those "homemade remedies" worked!
Jennifer W blue dawn dish soap!! Kills flees *INSTANTLY*
I spent an arm and a leg (& probably my other arm and leg lol) & my dog still had flees after using flee treatments from the vets
CcoronaS how do you use it?
Our Little Homestead! Love it. The soap is the best
i LOVE this video more than words can say!!!!!!
The Kneady Homesteader :) I love me some Zote Soap! LOL
Iam also a huge Fan of this soap, it rules!
Wonder if you could make a homemade shampoo with zote tea tree oil to keep bugs away!
I just used your recipe for my dish soap I'm so excited to try it
@ Janie can zote soap be used to make shampoos and body wash? I can't get enough of the scent i have a zote soap on my coffee table and i keep sniffing that amazing scent smells just like lemon verbena . Thank you for all the information you share for people to be self -sustainable and GOD is with those who look out for others from a distance just by sharing knowledge you have helped me and a lot of people out there. May ALLAH bless you !
I actually discovered this soap in a makeup group. It's awesome for cleaning my makeup brushes. I'm discovering other uses as well. Cool info.
Is there a difference between the pink and white?
Thank you for all of your wonderfully, frugal ideas! Some I would've even thought of! Many Blessings to you, your family and viewers! Good luck with your new sponsor. Your right, everyone does need to make money and thank you for your honesty.
I keep a bar by my kitchen sink with a new nail brush to scrub my fruit and veggies. You wouldn't believe the dirt that comes off.
Loved the many uses of zote soap. I can't find anything like that here in the UK, and to order it from Amazon will cost a lot
The grooming mitt can be priced anywhere from $1-$5
That's a great idea! I use a back massager thingy! LOL!!
Hi. Would you say that your zote liquid soap is comparable to dawn or is it better? Thanks
Can't find Zote soap in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I use Sunlight pure laundry bar soap instead --$2 for 3 bars at Wal-Mart. Smells like lemon. Use it the same way you do.
How did it clean the clothes? I love sunlight lemon bars...wasn't sure they cleaned well though???
I'm glad you can get it at Big Lots. I pick up several things there on a monthly basis.
+Vickie Allen Our Big Lots went out of business a few months back, it actually depressed me. I loved shopping there. :(
I loved your video!
You are brilliant ...thank you tips of using Zote soap.
1122kiwi I Love this stuff! Can you tell?! LOL
I’m so hooked on this! Thank you
Made my first batch of laundry soap my wife is skeptical so wish me luck maybe when she sees the savings won’t be a laughing matter .
Lg TV manuals bvb
Does it repel fleas also?? Just wondering and also I've added liquid fabric softener to my homemade Landry soap and it smells great! I the used fels naptha bar but next time I'm getting Zote. Does the white zote bar repel bugs and do the same as the pink?
It does help with fleas. I have used to wash my dogs and carpet to get rid of fleas. I prefer the white. But pink works ok. I have used it for lice also.
Is there a dishwasher soap recipe with Zote?
this is awesome for cleaning makeup brushes too!!!
Robin Neeley just did it and its amazing. it took a fraction of the time too.
i really enjoyed watching your video it was really infORmative and gave me lots of inspiration. thankh you and bless you and your grandson Carter. iLove ZOTE soap!!!
Thank you.
Wow, this stuff sounds like magic! I've bought a couple bars to make homemade laundry detergent and am looking forward to the other uses you mentioned. Thank you so much! I have GOT to try that recipe for your wood floors.
How did it work for you?
I have to admit, I too am a fan of Zote soap. I make my own laundry soap from it. Thanks for making this video!
I was wondering if you could give me the portions you use to clean your oven? Thank you for all the great ideas for using Zote!
How big is that jar and where can you get one that size?
Can you use the pink zote soap on your own skin as in the shower?
Neat! Thank you.
I've never heard of it before.
LOL!
BTW where are you from? Indiana by any chance? lol
What can be used as a substitute for ZOTE soap in UK.... it’s super expensive to buy online...
I love the stuff! I'm going to start cleaning my floors with it!
thanks for all your good info
It's At THE 99$ Store TOO For a dollar.
Never tried zote soap but ivory soap is great for alot of things use it on my face 😁

LOL!!
FYI: you can also buy it at K mart
+Corena Garoutte Thanks for the tip! Our nearest Kmart is in Indy; about 45 minutes from here.
Can you please give us a body wash recipe?
Here is an easy one: 2 bars favorite soap...(I've used shea dove, reg dov, coast, Irish Cow Milk Soap is my favorite if I can find it...etc..)and add that 'grated well to 6 cups of hot water, heat on stove over low heat till melted (no pcs like sand sized even left in pot) Let cool for 12-14 hours. Stir with stick blender if desired and put in a pump soap bottle or old body wash bottle (recycling is good). You can add a preservative if you like but I never have had an issue.
Hi Chef Janie,
Do you have a homemade floor cleaner for vinyl wood flooring? My Mom always used Once and Done. I'm slowly making your products, I love your dry laundry soap and will be making your fabric softener soon :) thank you so much for sharing all of this with me😏 I'm passing it on to family and friends 😎
Hi Janie!! Long time!! I absolutely LOVE this soap and actually made your laundry detergent the first time you posted it and loved it right away. Thanks for sharing more tips for this great soap…..
Thanks for the info. I just seen it at big Lots and tried it.
Hope you enjoy the savings on laundry detergent!!!
93 cents?!? Omg! I’m desperate to get my hands on the pink bar just because I want to feel it and smell it (weird, I know, I’ve been told so lots lol) but here in the UK you can only buy it online and it’s £25 !!!
Thanks so much for sharing this is so useful
Here are a few of my favorite recipes for tub and tile and glass door cleaner (this first one is foaming action, spray and let it foam up and sit awhile, rinse off...be happy:
"In a spray bottle, combine 1/3 cup ammonia, 1/4 cup white vinegar, 1/2 cup baking soda, and 7 cups of water. Spray down the shower, then watch as the vinegar and baking soda together create a cleansing, bubbling foam. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes, then wipe down the tiles and tub with a damp, soft cloth. DO NOT USE ON NATURAL STONE as vinegar can etch stone."
Recipe #2: IN a spray bottle add 4 oz Blue Dawn Dish Soap, Add 4 0z white vinegar, and then add 4 0z of peroxide, (Total now is 12 oz of mixture)
After adding the peroxide the mixture may fizz a little bit. Let it sit for a few seconds to let the fizzing settle and then put the sprayer lid back on the bottle
Put on lid and shake till a ight blue, 20 shakes should do it. Spritz down shower walls and glass and watch it do it's thing! All the recipes above work great; but the ammonia get to me and my hands at times so like recipe 2 best. But they both work great!
I’m going to try the fish bait I’m in Canada so we shall see if it works on our walleye and trout! So excited with this, I luv what you share!
They say it works in mexican water streams as the fish are used to more down there due to that fact they use the zote to wash clothes in the river and it attracks the fish...I did catch a catfish and a sunfish using this recipe and I used very tiny pcs...
Thank you! Need to start using, only me! Need to make 1 batch. a yr! I live in RV
enjoy!
hey Janie!!! great to see ya! love your video as always?!!
Are you sure about the citronella, etc? because when I went to Walmart website, it said the ingredients are Sodium Tallowate, Sodium Cocoate, Fragrance, Optical Brightener and Violet 10 (CI 45170). Is there something I missed?
I hope this helps...
Product Ingredients:
Sodium tallowate (beef tallow)Sodium Cocoate (coconut oil)Fragrance (citronella oil)Optical Brighteners.Dye (Pink and Blue Bars only)
Was going to make home made laundry detergent, but we cannot get Zote soap in the UK.
Hi, I was listening to other videos and a comment said they had plumbing issues using Zote, is this true? It has wax in it?
Love making our own laundry detergent!
