Thank you for sharing your essential oil process and how much you enjoy making this. I, Emmaline, have used Zote as well in the past. I switch between zote and fels naptha depending what is at the store when I am ready to make it or restock my stash.
Emmaline, and now Marie, I am glad you put this recipe and directions up again. I have been making this for years since Emmaline showed it on her old site. I like to add essential oils to the washer using the measuring cup like you do so I can change the scent of each load. My closet smells so good since I started doing all your tricks.
I make huge batches of a similar recipe in a 5 gallon bucket (powder form) which uses 2 tablespoons per large load. When I got a front loader, I started just liquifying a batch once a month. This amount lasted my family of 6 (4 teenagers in fast food EW) a minimum of 6 months. A batch lasts us empty nesters around 18 months now. This is my recipe: • 4 Lb box Borax • 3 Lb box Washing Soda • 4 Lb box Baking soda • 2 bars grated Zote soap (white or pink) (2 boxes Zote flakes) or Fels Naptha • 1 box Biz powder (enzyme booster) • 2 Boxes Purex Stain Fighter & Bright Booster • 2 Bottles (18 oz) Scent beads if desired (I’m going to try making your recipe on the next batch)
I love making this I even use ivory bar soap smells so good and for even more smell and power I even add to ivory soap recipe some ivory dish soap and ginger estual oil or what ever scent you wanted

I heard it has something to do with the seal.?? I have an HE washer and I have found it is best to not use the concentrate as it doesn't dissolve well enough. I make multiple batches of the concentrate for storing it. Then when I am ready to use it, I add it to a bucket with water and immersion blend it. I also place it directly in the machine instead of in the soap tray.
New subscriber . If I am going to make just the regular detergent and NOT a the concentrate, do you use a whole bar of soap and same amounts of washing soda and borax?? Love your videos and I shared with my granddaughters.❤😊😊
We are so glad to have you. If you are doing a full batch with the regular detergent all you do is add the full 5 gallons of water to the soap solution.
You could use a blender, food processor or immersion blender. If you don't mix the concentrate then it separates from the liquid and becomes too hard. If you make the liquid. You could just use it as a gel.
Just a little tip : put the baking soda into a cookie tray at 400F for almost 1h the sodium bicarbonat will transform in sodium carbonat aka washing soda et voilà 🤪🍷🍷
Question I live in Arizona we have washing machines and dryers outside the house because it's so hot in Arizona. What do you think about keeping the liquid the non-concentrated soap outside instead of keeping it inside do you think it would change the chemicals or the consistency of the mix?
I, Emmaline, RV'd for 9 years and kept the laundry soap essentially outside under the RV in both hot and cold weather and never had a problem with it. Sometimes in the cold the consistency was slightly more solid and in the heat it was more of a liquid consistency, but it always washed the same.
I have used them. I use the same recipe except I add the scent booster at the same point that I am dissolving the soap. It does not thin out the detergent, in fact, I think it slightly thickens it. The amount to include depends on how strong you want your scent. Anywhere from a cup to an entire container of scent boosters. Either way, you extend the number of loads you use the scent boosters with because the soap batch is so much larger than the number of load that would generally use up all of your scent booster.
Sometimes the concentrate doesn't desolve as nicely as I would like. If I have a chunk of concentrate at the end of the wash I know it could have done a better cleaning job. The liquid version never does this. Sometimes I will make the concentrate for storage and then when I am ready for the next batch I will reconstitute it in the bucket before using it.
1/2 a cup of borax and yes tot he essential oils. I would add the oils to the mixture before I add the water to the mixture that way the oils properly disperse and do not separate or float.
Anyone else confused when she’s talking about using gel/concentrate/ liquid with hot cold warm wash water. I think she used each concentration for each wash temp, can you clarify that?
The concentrate can have some trouble dissolving. Especially if it is in cold water. So if you are using the concentrate use hot water. The gel can be used with either. I actually prefer to make the concentrate in large batches for storing. Then when I am ready to use them I will dilute it with the immersion blender in my bucket. This is great because the concentrate takes up less room but I prefer to use the gel.
I have a question: why cant use a liquid castile soap insted and dont kill ourselves with soap bar? Just I want know why soap bar is better then liquid soap same formulation of soap.? Thank you
I've never tried it with liquid castile soap but it seems like it would be too liquid. Let us know how it goes if you try it. I have used homemade soap and it works pretty well but is a little less concentrated.
@@WisdomPreserved so if I have my own diy castile soap will gel as well in the end of the process? here in canada we dont have zote soap or the other one and from online or Amazone is so expensive 25$ one bar hahaha never !
@@1118cristina The Castille soap will not gel, it will stay as a liquid soap. I've (Emmaline) made it with this and it works great in an old liquid soap dispenser. Perhaps I should show you my process on another video?
@@1118cristina When I use my homemade soap, if I use the same weight of soap as the Zote, I only add 3 gallons of water instead of the 5 and it gels well. It may be a little different with yours but I would experiment with it.
The girls voice is soooo high pitched that it’s annoying. I’m not trying to be nasty. Just be aware of such a high pitch and maybe lower it a bit. It bounces off the kitchen walls.
I put the essential oil in before I let it sit overnight. Been making this for about 28 years. I also use zote soap and make 10 gallons at a time.

Hmm. I wouldn't drink it if that is what you mean.? It doesn't seem to bother my skin but I do wash it off fairly soon after getting exposed.

Laundry detergent
I followed these steps and it didn’t come out like jelly! For the non concentrated one!!! 😢
It usually takes about 24 hours to set.
You should be proud of yourself.

When to expect a new video from you?

There’s a difference between laundry soap and laundry detergent. It seems like no one understands that… HE washers don’t work well with soap.
Thanks for the clarification.
It doesn't get any nicer.
Agreed.
Good instruction but Emmaline seems to be shouting. Had to turn down the volume to be able to listen.
Sorry about that. It takes a little bit to get used to filming and this was one of our earlier ones.
