Don't be silly. We all know it was for me. Lol. (I actually did ask for Naomi 2 a while back. Only wanted it to play initial D) glad this video covers it. Thanks doe the tutorial
Great detail as always! Have you found a way to remove that annoying "Please connect board" message in soul Surfers? It's the Japanese writing across the screen that won't go away when playing the game?
The "PlayStation-style" D-Pad in its position on this controller is amazing for pre-N64 games. Specifically, 2D games, especially side-scrolling platformers. Controllers of the "offset" variety, like the Xbox and Nintendo Switch Pro controllers, are awesome for more modern 3D games (obviously) but also traditional joystick-based arcade games, as well as (to an extent) overhead/isometric 2D adventure games (like Zelda). Personally, I prefer the D-Pad for such games, and this controller style is great for those.
Great video, and the graphics of those games are very compelling. Sadly, nothing that really "gets" me, such a shame there were so few releases for such interesting platforms.
Yes, the Naomi 2 had great graphics. In the 2000s, arcades were not as popular as in the 80s or 90s. Now they're making a comeback. Glad that we now enjoy Naomi 2 games.
How to disable the network checking during startup for virtua fighter 4 final tuned? It’s kinda annoying everytime need to wait for few mins before the game start..
It's great that Batocera supports Naomi 2. Does batocera have plans to support the other Arcade Sega boards as well? (Sega SP, Naomi GD and Naomi 2 GD). There are some really fun games in there as well.
All games play fine on my setup with the latest bios file from the Batocera 34 bios pack installed. Except Wild Riders where the right analog stick doesn't work. So unable to accelerate and brake in the game.
Was that Initial D I can actually play - in English? Something about those games draws me, but Japanese always ruins them for me. Finally I can try it! I've never asked you, are you a part of Batocera team? You do make same extremely impressive tutorials.
Tested and most run on my i7 6700T. One I think didnt boot, forgot which one now. VF4 games work though. But for the games to run full speed I have to lower the rendering resolution setting option to 1024x768. Still looks great on a 24" monitor though 👍
Thank you very much for the ROMset and valuable information. I have fired up the Naomi 2 games on my Raspberry Pi4. Most of them are up and running but unfortunately, the lagging makes them practically unplayable. I've tried Vulkan, Frameskip, internal resolution to 640p 60Hz. I can't find the Legacy 3D option. We're almost there but we're not. What other option do I have to get those polygons moving without a stroboscopic effect ? I might get some answers on Discord, but if somebody has cracked the secret of Naomi 2 on Pi4, let me know.
Lovely! Just saw the video and immediately downloaded the naomi2 games for batocera 34. Tried a couple of them, they are all running, but (as kind of expected) veeery choppy video/gameplay on a Raspberry 400 (overclocked to 2200) - Just trying out different video sttings, not much succuss yet. Has anybody got it to run smoothly on a pi yet? What would be the best settings? Thanks
hi, i have a problem with controller. when i play my 3rd controller is not detected. but in batocera it showed up. how to fix this ? my 1st and 2nd is fine.
Hi, first of all I wanted to thank you for the excellent tutorials. I have a problem... I followed the procedure exactly but when I go into the game (only in the game, not in the titles or in the fighter choices) I have all the games that start like never seen before, that is, they go to an incredible frame. I don't understand why it may depend, I have a 4070super GPU and I don't think it's a power problem lol. Model2 and Model3 run very well, you can do it. understand what it could depend on? p.s. I'm on Batocera 39
How did you get initial d to work? I have it running but besides the start button, I can't use the joysticks or a controller. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
I've sent one of the developers this information a couple of weeks ago. This would definitely make Batocera complete. For more effective results, start a thread about this on the official Batocera.org forums. I'm sure more will jump in and some of the developers will take notice.
Sorry slightly off-topic. But does Batocera pick up GPU's automatically or do you have to manually tinker. (It can be a hassle with linux systems). I have a GTX 1080 lying around and a slightly older AMD GPU.
With the latest Beta 35 version of Batocera, it is supposed to pick it up automatically. But watch this video about tinkering with it: ua-cam.com/video/mklgQmc-Jww/v-deo.html
@@BatoceraNation Perfect, exactly what I was looking for. Will try the v35 beta and see how it performs (gtx1080). If you want any feedback, let me know and I'll add it to this comment stream. Update: It works like a charm. It picked up the videocard without any visual issues
Go into advance system options - AutoSave/Load on Game Launch - turn to OFF. It will work although the steering is oposit way around for some reason, lol.
You didn't show us how to add the bios???? Your skipped straight to playing the games. However the biso doesn't work if I place in a named file. Or if I add the fils where all the others sit without folders. The games don't load! An update is needed for v39

i installed the naomi2 games , but.i have a problem .................audio and video stutter bad , any idea ? 4 gb ram , Radeon 6570, phenom 2 X6. any ideas why ? thanks
Unfortunately, it is too weak for it. That card came out in 2011. The Naomi 2 is about 4 times more powerful than Naomi 1. So you do need a more modern PC. I don't use a discrete graphics card, but the CPU is pretty powerful and integrated chip is from 2021.
Press start in main system view, scroll down to 'Game Collection Settings', then down to 'Grouped Systems' then untick any systems you want to display as their own system. You'll see Nintendo Entertainment System/Family Disk System there. Untick that. I also untick the MegaDrive (Genesis) 32X one. Course keep in mind you also need your roms in the sep folders as well for games to appear in those sep systems.

Then you place the .dat file into your Naomi Roms folder. I think i bios files just sit in the userdata/bios, if not, create a folder. But Internet Archive has the bios files and roms. Good luck.
