The ps4 was the last console i bought...I went retrogaming couple of years ago, no regrets! Gaming nowadays has lost its soul to greed, paid dlcs and microtransactions..Retrogaming is proof of what gaming used to be...complete, great and well crafted games, just pure fun like it used to be🎉🎉🎉
My drive came in yesterday. When I initially scanned it, the result came up with 57 infection files and a ton of files on the drive. My virus scanner said it cleaned and took care of the problem. When I got home from work, I decided on scaning it again and see if those files popped up, and I was happy seeing that there was no threats the second time and noticed that the total items on the drives dropped down immensely. Just checked everything out, all the programs and roms play amazing.
@lightbeingpontifex I haven't thought about that scenario. That could have happen, but the main reason and games that made me want to get this is still here so I'm happy.

Why separate the library into 3 different front ends (Retrobat, Launchbox, and Playnite)? Why not just keep everything in one front end? Is it just to give options to the user or is there a benefit for certain emulators that run better on certain front ends?
Most likely due to load times. I put together a 12Tb drive with only one front end and it takes FOREVER to load up the main wheel when you first start it.

@@WarioSaysSo if you gonna use a mini PC I strongly suggest to go at least with a ryzen 5700U, but even better all the new APU's 7000 series, it will cost around 400/600 dollars...you really don't need more power just for emulation....cheers bro ☺️

Scanned 20 percent of mine with webroot and so far 6 malware, be really really careful and do not connect to wireless or a computer you use for anything else !!

bcz they just throw pre-builded system and front end in the drive...they don't occupy the time to select and setting up everything for us,,,the just copy and paste on the drive that they sold.
What are the file structures like on these drives? Are the individual roms accessible to be moved to another drive (like if i wanted to move some to a usb drive to be used on my shield)? there is nothing that can you plug directly to the tv....if you want play ps2 ps3 teknoparrot xbox 360, you need a pc, you can always connect a pc to your tv

a few questions... what EXACTLY is the specs needed, because i am EXTREMEMLY poor and only have a 5 year old laptop... also, is there a CONSOLE that has all in one like say all ps1 or all ps2 or all ps1 and ps2 games on a single console like they did with the atari, and nintendo where they digitally put all the games on it and just have to plug into the tv, and ready to play. cause i not smart, nor tech savvy if ANYONE can answere these for me please do cause i love my ps1 and ps2 games
I didn't have that issue myself here but have with other drives. A lot of this stuff with emulation though are false positives because of the type of software used with emulation. Not saying this to have anybody drop their guard. You should always scan everything you connect to your network but I've found a lot of the emulation stuff to not actually be as concerning as it initially seems during a scan.

Yes that is of course true but there is "box art" style graphics available in the scraped data that is often used. It's generally the cover art for the manuals that went along with the arcade cabinets.

This was a great review of this unit. I ended up ordering this drive off aliexpress. Not sure if i got a bad unit but my game pc running Win 11 doesn't recognize the drive in any of the usb ports but it does spin and vibrate as if it is working. Tried 2 other pcs and the same thing. Opened up the enclosure to reseat the drive, still not recognized. Guess ill have to start a return and get a replacement unit. Am i overlooking something simple?

Tekken 8 doesn't work on mine unfortunately. Says missing dll file , installed everything as instructed in the readme. Otherwise its great ( once i removed the trojans and malware )
Perhaps that's why it doesn't work. You probably removed the hacked DLLs that made the pirated game work. That's one of the things about sailing the high seas, yarrrr.
This might be a dumb question to you but since these games are console games. Some I never played at all. My question does this emulator require a gaming pc. Triple A games I don't know much about. Ps1 ps2 ps3 and the other consoles are more my style

if you are into ps3 than you need a very good mini pc....go at least with the ryzen APU'S,,,like the 70000 series mini pc (at least a ryzen 7740)...when it's time to emulate on a mini pc it is very important to have a powerfull dual channel ram like 32 gb ddr5 its better....ps3 emulators loves powerfull cpu with more cores and threads so better to have an 8 cores and 16 threads!....you can looking for beelink brands or GMK NUK.....feel free to ask ny questions about it.

IT WILL WORK IN ANY decent PC EVEN WITHOUT GRAPHICS CARD---- for ps3 its better to have a discrete gpu

I purchased this through Amazon. Put into a virtual drive and found 79 malware & viruses. Once contained it is absolutely worth the price.

Dumb question so do you have to have a PC or can you plug it into your TV also and play like the base retro games?
Not a dumb question. You need a pc and then from there you'd connect to your tv.

This was a great review of this unit. I ended up ordering this drive off aliexpress. Not sure if i got a bad unit but my game pc running Win 11 doesn't recognize the drive in any of the usb ports but it does spin and vibrate as if it is working. Tried 2 other pcs and the same thing. Opened up the enclosure to reseat the drive, still not recognized. Guess ill have to start a return and get a replacement unit. Am i overlooking something simple?

Tekken 8 doesn't work on mine unfortunately. Says missing dll file , installed everything as instructed in the readme. Otherwise its great ( once i removed the trojans and malware )
Perhaps that's why it doesn't work. You probably removed the hacked DLLs that made the pirated game work. That's one of the things about sailing the high seas, yarrrr.
@@tigerhead85 Didn't remove anything, got it working in the end after downloading some direct x files that were missing from the initial installation.
This might be a dumb question to you but since these games are console games. Some I never played at all. My question does this emulator require a gaming pc. Triple A games I don't know much about. Ps1 ps2 ps3 and the other consoles are more my style
Hey not dumb at all. Yeah for the most part you'd probably want a gaming pc or a really high end mini pc should you decide to go that route

if you are into ps3 than you need a very good mini pc....go at least with the ryzen APU'S,,,like the 70000 series mini pc (at least a ryzen 7740)...when it's time to emulate on a mini pc it is very important to have a powerfull dual channel ram like 32 gb ddr5 its better....ps3 emulators loves powerfull cpu with more cores and threads so better to have an 8 cores and 16 threads!....you can looking for beelink brands or GMK NUK.....feel free to ask ny questions about it.

You should definitely plug this into your actual computer and make sure your credit card information is saved to the same computer
