    Great video. I'm gonna do that tomorrow. I need to clean a bunch of trash from the teeth in my wheels too. One of my dust covers was torn by a piece of metal and trash got inside so I ordered some new covers. I'm sure that's contributing to my mower being hard to push.

    I appreciate the time you took to make this video and the thorough visual explanation of the hard to push problem. One thing however. I think I would avoid putting any kind of grease or oil on these parts when reassembling. PB Blaster makes a spray graphite lubricant that, in my opinion, would be a much better lubricant in this case because it is dry and will not allow sand and grit to accumulate. Sand and grit on these parts will wear them out fairly quickly. The spay graphite lubricant works well and lasts a reasonable amount of time. It should be re-applied at the start of each mowing season, giving one an opportunity to clean these areas up again. Regular maintenance. Thanks again for the informative video.

      When I pulled off the right wheel, the right wheel sleeve was stuck to the shaft. I used my propane torch to heat up the sleeve and remove it. (I will replace both wheels.) In addition, I stripped the head on the torx screw that held the gear. After whacking at it with a hammer and punch, I finally utilized my wire welder to weld a T30 bit on to the head of the screw. It then spun right off with a ratchet! (I will replace it with a 1/4x 20 Phillips head screw.) Thanks for your kind reply!

    • @JLPicard440

      I don't think there are any brakes on it. You'd have to lift up the mower and see which wheels are dragging real bad. Once you see which ones it is, you'll have to take those wheels off and see what's going on.

    • @JLPicard440
      @JLPicard440  3 роки тому

      Hmmm. I don't have a picture in my mind yet. Are you talking about the smaller metal gear that meshes with the wheel? That gear has a small pin behind it that moves back and fourth to create a one way clutch. It should be locked in one direction and turn free in the other. This way you can push the mower when the self propelled isn't engaged.

    Maybe you can help with my mower. Have new drive cable, new drive pulley on drive shaft, new belt. I've adjusted the tension but end up with the mower self-propelled system wanting to go real fast and then suddenly slows down significantly. I was thinking the belt was running "high" or outside the pulleys and then falling back into the groove. What can I do?

    • @JLPicard440
      @JLPicard440  Рік тому

      Does your mower have a cover that you can remove on the top side so you can see the belt in action? Obviously you'd have to be careful while you're doing this, but it would help if you could see what's going on. I've never seen one actually do that before.

    • @JLPicard440
      @JLPicard440  3 місяці тому +1

      HI. The axle shaft is supposed to stick out ever so slightly past where the nut goes on the wheel to keep that from happening. Did you change the wheel? If the wheel is to thick then it'll tighten up on the wheel instead of the axle.

    • @jonnyskray3000
      @jonnyskray3000 3 місяці тому +1

    • @JLPicard440
      @JLPicard440  3 місяці тому +1

      Ok. Where did you put the washer? If you put it towards the inside of the axle and wheel that'll actually make the problem worse. It'll space the wheel out that much further. That axle where the wheel slides on is exactly the right length to stick out past the wheel on the inside where the nut goes. If the axle is still inside of the wheel when it comes out the other side (Where the threads for the nut are) it'll never work.

    • @jonnyskray3000
