Honestly, I haven't seen anything out of the VS Extreme games to make me think they're anywhere near as good as Gundam VS Zeta Gundam. At least not the more recent ones.
What are you talking about? The Gundam games today are clunky and slow. Armored core and Mecha break are wiping the floor with Gundam performance wise.
@@CyberBullyOfficial >Gundam games today are clunky and slow Not the Extreme vs games though, those games are lightning fast like greased lightning, exactly how a Gundam game should play.
@@CyberBullyOfficial In case you didn’t know Gundam extreme vs is an 2vs2 arcade fighting game series that still get new entries and constant updates it occasionally got a console port but it’s rare and the arcade version were only available in Japan so I won’t blame you if you don’t know about it. And I won’t even compare the two games together as Extreme vs is an arcade third person fighting game unlike AC6 which is mainly a third person shooter and actually had a singleplayer campaign
I still remember walking into Target as a kid and seeing this on the PlayStation 2 kiosk, I watched a guy who worked the electronics department try to fumble his way through the arcade mode. Considering I already had experience with federation versus zeon, I picked up the controller after he was done and set one of the highest scores that stayed for months. Boy do I miss the days where you can walk into a Target and there was just a wall full of Gundam action figures. 😌
I love how they make "what if this character not die but survive until the end", this such a rare concept back then I recommend you playing Gundam Climax U.C. this game take place from OYW until F91. Just like Gundam VS Zeta Gundam, you can choose which side you want.
Always remember clearing all the basic timelines and going 'okay, obviously something is hidden...' and then I pointed out to my buddy playing it with me 'yknow... White Base has an HP bar in Garma's Fate....' and the ball went rolling.
I grew up with Zeon vs Federation as a teenager and it is what got me into watching Gundam series. This year I've been playing Gundam vs Zeta Gundam on my phone with a telescopic controller and I've almost finished the UC mode, which is quite a slog to get through due to the sheer amount of (repetitive) missions. That said, the game works surprisingly well as a mobile game considering how short each mission is. This series has its roots in arcade multiplayer which I think explains some of its shortcomings that you mentioned in your video. I've had to retry some of the hard missions a few times, but you easily accumulate tons of points to max out upgrades which make these fights much easier. It would be nice if more people were playing this game online as there is a custom server for it nowadays, especially if someone could rebalance the stats of the less competitive mobile suits.
Gundam Vs. Zeta Gundam is such an incredible game. I loved it as a kid, even if I had never seen Zeta Gundam and didn't understand the story. What impressed me the most when I replayed the game as an adult is the wonderful animation used for all the mobile suits. The Zaku is my favorite, clunky and slow like an early MS would be. It looks so menacing as it rambles along with the heathawk drawn and ready to cut down some GMs. Overall the melee animations look really good too. I love that the Zaku I is restricted to hand to hand combat, the punches and kicks it delivers all feel so satisfying. You can really tell that this is a Capcom game.
This game and the what ifs made my childhood. I grinded so hard through this game to unlock everything I could. Black tri stars in 3 psycho Gundams during the timeline, peak content there.
Capcom went all out on Gundam vs Zeta Gundam, I remember the original MSG: Federation vs Zeon and DX versions on Dreamcast as just straight up ports from the arcade version. There's so much value in this game that I find it hard to believe Hori didn't release a game specific arcade stick for it lol. All Gundam VS games have a "communications" buttons, if you're playing solo, it tells the AI partner how to play (aggressive, evade, concentrate on your target, concentrate on off target or default), if you're playing the arcade version with a friend/partner, the communications button will send status updates over to your partner every time your press it. Zeta Gunadm was actually the third arcade game I got into competitively in the local arcade scene with my sparring partner in 3S and CvS2. The most cheese team are two Hi-Zacks with the missile pods, they low costing MS and their tactic is easy; stunlock targets with machine gun, confirm stunlock and use missile pods for guaranteed damage, rinse and repeat lol. I actually prefer series specific VS games because there's much more variety in MS selection, the later VS games like Extreme, Full Boost and Maxiboost are all Gundam heavy with no hardly any grunt MS to choose and not much mono-eyes. Gundam Seed Rengou vs ZAFT is when the gameplay mechanic was probably perfected/super fine tuned as you can use your boost meter to block if you had a shield, melee combat flowed better and movement/mobile was made better.
As far as I'm concerned, this game is a wonderful loveletter to the franchise. I sank an ungodly amount of hours in this game until the CD stopped functionning. I really should re-emulate it ... Content-wise, the variety of scenario was great, even if the gameplay wasn't that varied and yeah the friendly fire was mighty annoying. Thanks for another video on the Gundam franchise !
That's how I got the story of the show first along with federation vs zeon. I had seen chars counter attack and 08th Ms team and 0083 but never the original or zeta. Really loved the alternative scenarios and how hard it was for the Titans route to get it if you know you know.
Man its nice to hear people talking about this game in this year! This game got me into the U.C era and I met my girlfriend thanks to this! Great review too man! Most of the stuff you talked about, I agree with too!
This game was my introduction to the U.C. Gundam, and I’ve been in love with it ever sense. There’s not a day that goes by when I remember this game so fondly. I personally loved the story telling in the game through character interactions and it’s most definitely a most play.
One thing I WANT Fanfic Writers to tackle IS the Alternate Timelines that this game creates, to make up for the lacking storytelling cutscenes/context outside of the mission blurbs and some dialogue (With a bit of it recycled). I want to SEE the how and why Amuro joins the AEUG early (Being one of it's founding members even!) in the alternate scenario, Kamille in the Titans in ways outside of the gameplay, show us the attack that got his parents killed and his bonds with folk who, in the main and other timelines, would be his mortal enemies. Show us the Zeon Victorious in OYW Scenario along with the Federation Striking Back in 0087-88 beyond the blurbs! CCA Years Early Scenario (The Bleakest of the Timelines)!
Yes. I loved federation vs zeon as a kid, and didn't get this game until around 2010, but once I played it, I never had to play Fed Vs Zeon again because this game is basically that game with 100x more features and a better story mode, plus all of zeta gundam
@@JarboeGaming The biggest problem with Fed Vs Zeon is that it feels a little too much like an arcade game in terms of features, which to be fair, it was an arcade game first. But other than the arcade mode, all it had was vs. and a tacked on generic campaign that gets brutally hard by the end (which I loved, but was also borderline insane on the last mission when you have to shoot down amuro or char). Gundam Vs. Zeta Gundam took the formula, made it run better, and focused it on the story mode to be the ultimate Gundam video game to play the show. If it had cutscenes to explain the story of the shows, it would be the best Gundam game of all time (it still arguably is, but it's a much closer fight with some of the newer Gundam vs. games and the Japanese exclusive one year war game on PS2)
Loved this game and Federation vs Zeon. Still need to 100% some characters still, but its been a pain trying to figure out what to do to unlock those scenarios. Be really cool to have this and federation vs zeon get a remake.
the levels with an alternate path will still have a tag that says "x survives" or "x dies" like the first missions of alternate paths. so you can just go into those and make the opposite happen.
I'll always love this game for both its amazing gameplay & content, but also for introducing me to my favorite MS in the franchise; Hyaku Shiki. I love that the 'Shiki doesn't have a melee weapon in this game, and instead does crazy Tekken style punch & kick combos, instead. Not to mention the awesome gold color scheme and overall design is so awesome.
I hope you keep exploring the Gundam VS Gundam series. The sequels to this title are very obscure and most people only now about Extreme VS which happened way later when Capcom lost the rights to these games.
@@nerodelacroix9281 After the two games you mentioned there was "Gundam VS Gundam", a full-on crossover that formed the basis for the rest of the series, while EXtreme VS was the HD era overhaul of the series. That you know OMNI vs ZAFT in itself _is_ pretty admirable though.
@@Wolfedge75 Do you mean the one available on psp? Gvg and gvg next plus? I know those two, and the exvs series. I was just wondering were there anything between the 2 seed ones and the gundam vs zeta
There was 2 SEED focused vs games. Rengou vs ZAFT The sequel was Rengou vs ZAFT 2 plus and has a great line up Plus the game engine are very refined and improved @@Wolfedge75
The game is a sequel to Federation vs. Zeon, which was an arcade game turned PS2 game. You should review that next and compare, though playing Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam is like having dessert first before dinner.
@@JarboeGamingstory mode is much less monotonous, but missions with heroes can be brutal because they're coded to take almost no damage from the player while dealing almost double normal damage. They eventually leave the field, so you arent expected to ever kill them but sometimes you have to engage to keep them from killing too many allies.
Great video. I've played this game alot and 100% it. You can feel the evolution creeping in that would lead to the extreme versus series starring to come in.
Since you're in a Gundam binge as of late, why not try Mobile Suit Gundam: One Year War from Project Pegasus? Encounters in Space is fantastic, but if you're looking for the best experience of Amuro's OYW, that game would be the best.
I believe this game was released around the time that Zeta Gundam was being released in the states with their 200 dollar dvd set that has the pencil sharpener MS and a sweet poster inside. Zeta Gundam took me nearly the entire 2000s to watch and collect on physical media and was satisfying when I finally finished the series. Great video as always. I never 100 percent completed my game by my save file of nearly 20 years still works to this day thankfully.
after all these years i still play this but federation vs zeon dx is my favorite specially with the campaign mode on which you can do 200 missions or more, truly a masterpiece and theres a campaign mode you unlock after finishing both sides and you can use all the mobile suits from either side
I love the Gundam Vs. games. But my favorite is always going to be the SD G Generation series. I get to experience the game and make my dream team of mobile suits while learning about MS I'd have never learnt existed (pre-internet). Very specifically, I'm talking about the ones where you can choose the story you're going play through since the other games have an overarching story that blends series together (I have MS I like from said games, but I'm not too sold on the stories - I still like the idea of different tech from different shows interacting with each other).
i like the sd gundam games due to the crossovers and team building. but i hate that you have to depend on the team attacks and the experience system is kinda weird that only the killer gets the points
In an earlier video, you talked about how a certain gundam game scratched that nostalgia itch. For me, THIS is that gundam game. I loved its "what if" scenarios, and I remember putting on CPU matches while I was doing other things like homework just to see what mobile suit would come out on top.
I spent a ton of time in Federation vs Zeon, so when Gundam vs Zeta came out, I was expecting more of the same. It's truly amazing to me still how much content was in this game. Back when the game was new, I actually managed to 100% the UC mode. I could never, ever do this now, but what a game this was. Also a nice touch was that it used a lot of the original english dub VAs, which added a nice touch of authenticity to it. I would really struggle to put this one above Zeonic Front for best Gundam game on the PS2, but I could easily see it being a two-way tie.
my husband loved the Dreamcast Gundam Side story White Dingos! From playing it i can see what he loves it he grew up with Mechwarrior and is ex-military and towards the end of his military career he got to cross train into Armored division. I know it’s not ps2 but i know it’s something my husband is stuck on
They really are! Lalah surviving could be it's own video with how much it contains. I'm playing through the 1st title, Federation vs Zeon now, which I'd also recommend, but, this one is much much bigger.
@JarboeGaming well sadly after checking up this game it was never released in eourpean regions😢 might have to invest in an American PS2 just to get my gundam fix!
As someone who’s first Gundam Game was EXVS Maxiboost ON, it’s crazy to see how the Vs. Series evolved and went even further. I think I NEED to play this game lol
I started with this game on ps2 as I heard a lot of good things about it(along with the one year war game), then G vs G next plus on psp and then G Versus on ps4. I love all of them. :D
i remember this game. this and the seed's fed vs zaft are some of the games i played with my siblings and my friends played after schools. (the seeds have infinite booster and awakening mode so we can relive the anime scenes😂)
This game is great, has alot of depth to it. The uc mode takes some time to get through and can feel a little too much near the end. However gettin a 100% gallery is dependent on that, plus a whole lot of garcha capsule luck. I suggest checking out lost war chronicles. The audio is in japanese but all the menus are in english, plays like journey to jaburo but with alot of refinement.
wow talk about a deepcut, I absolutely adored this game back in the days. First time a gundam game felt like a truly good game first. Thanks for giving this game the review it deserved!
My favorite Gundam game is on the PSP. Gundam Battle Universe. Now it does not have the high quality gameplay of the Gundam vs Gundam series which is best with(or atleast the best console release) with Gundam Extreme Vs Maxiboost on. When it comes to the storyline, you can start at any of the timelines. So if you choose 0079 you'll be able to start as a Federation pilot with a GM or a Zeon pilot with a Zaku 2. 0079 includes missions 08th MS team. If you choose 0083, you start with either a federation pilot in a GM Custom or Delaz pilot with, some form of Gelgoog I don't remember which. 0087 you can start as either AEUG, Titans, or Axis and so on. If you start as a Federation pilot on 0079, once you get to 0083 you can swap allegiances and go to the Delaz fleet. So all the mobile suits you acquire on 0079 will stay with you and you'll have 0079 federation suits, 0083 zeon suits, and then whatever you move over to in 0087, 0088, 0093, and then the extra missions that do other UC series. There are more than 200 mobile suits and early on, movement does feel heavier, so it feels a bit closer to a Gundam more bound in realism. As you complete missions you upgrade your mobile suits in all statistics of your choice. Aiming, weapon shot speed, etc to each weapon indivudally, but then mobile suit movement speed, boosters, HP, etc. There is both land and space combat and it feels really good in both. There are a lot of missions that follow the storyline with some dialogue in the missions but much like the Federation vs Zeon or Gundam vs Zeta Gundam, aside from the dialogue and the mobile suits that you combat against, there's no storyline outside of combat so you do have to know the story of Gundam for this to really follow it. It's an amazing game if you don't like Gundam but it is an absolutely must own if you're a fan of Gundam, especially UC. It's the best gameplay the Gundam series has had except for two. Gundam vs Gundam/Gundam Extreme vs series has the best the series has ever had when it comes to ground combat. Battle Operations 2 has the best ground and space combat when it comes to any Gundam game bound in realism, for a free to play game it's absolutely amazing when it comes to combat but I don't like the rock, paper, scissors mobile suit requirement, doesn't matter how good you are when one suit always beats another.
@@JarboeGaming One thing I didn't state is it's import only but it's very easy to play once you understand the menus that aren't in English. Japanese audio but since you'll already know what's happening by area and people who are speaking, that's not an issue.
I totally recommend "Another Century's Episode" on PS2 to feel a crazy Gundam cross-over, it is an amazing game with a huge roster from Amuro Ray to Heero Yuy
My first VS game I’ve played but also, would have to agree that this is my fave! It felt grounded, looked great, and the music (being the original score) was awesome and suited the game very well
7:35 the invincibility frames added challenge because if you wanted to combo on an enemy, you had to coordinate your shots with your ally's. it wws great. I would frequently watch an enemy fire a beam at someone, then time my beam so it hits right after theirs, effectively stunlocking for a bit
also I think the issue of friendly fire...it's kinda needed for some of the scenarios...especially the ones that require friendlies dying to unlock certain paths...in fact to unlock the Char starts Char's Counterattack VERY early scenario, you need to get to the right stage (after MAJORITY of the things are unlocked) then you need to win the stage but AFTER Lalah dies on Char's side and Sayla dies on Amuro's side and if I recall Sayla is in the Core fighter (or was that the Core tank? Im not too sure now lol) and she's REALLY tough to kill if you leave Char to do it for you, you almost need to INTENTIONALLY go out of your way to friendly fire kill her if you ever want to unlock that line of scenarios...but yeah as bad as friendly fire is, its a necessary evil for guiding and unlocking scenarios
GVSZG is honestly my favorite gundam game of all time, I grew up playing this on the ps2 and I probably sunk 100's of hours of my early childhood playing it trying to 100% this game. As much fun as the new VS games are I kinda wish they would return to the slower methodical pace of GVSZG. I feel like every move you made you had to be precise to get the best results out of your mobile suits. Also Fun Fact! If you have 2 players and you choose the G-DEFENSER and the [G] gundam with the 180mm Canon, you can ride the G-DEFENSER in Canon lockdown mode with the [G] Gundam and you have a makeshift AC-130 Gunship 🤣
So this is where Gundam Vs. starts? I played quite a bit of OMNI vs ZAFT II+ and I thought that was the first one (or rather, the game this is a sequel to). The fact this has English text makes me wanna play it, though my lack of familiarity with UC holds me back
I thought FvsZ and GvsZG was endless fun with friend we tried taking on so many wacky challenges we created for ourselves while piloting the worst MS. One of the most difficult which we never managed to achieve was in FvsZ was to defeat ever instances that the gundam appeared, the only one we didn't managed, despite how close we were was the mission in Texas Colony.
I really liked this game and fed vs zeon. Fed vs Zeon has such a huge place in my heart due to how much I played it before this game came out to the point i still preferred the it over gundam vs zeta, mostly not caring about the battle gauge. But I loved all the what if missions and the choice of 3 sides. I still play fed vs zeon from time to time even now cause a lot of old ps2 games are just better imo than what currently gets pushed out
Honestly, it would be sweet to get a game similar to this in PS4/PS5 that includes more stories (for example, events of GBO2: Code Fairy) and even different eras.
zero-G is kinda realistic.. without pressing your boost, you rotate around your center. your hitbox is dependent on the orientation, and your missiles have a parabolic arc... allowing you to aim from behind debris. you can actually command your ally to adopt a combat stance, its Normal, Close range, long range, assist or evade. Normal is they do their own thing. close range they use melee most of time. Long range is basically sniping. assist is they support fire on whomever you have targeted, evade is they stay away from combat only taking pot shots at the enemy. as for the recover mechanic, its not where you got hit... there's a mechanic for most mobile suits i set the bar to short but fast fill to keep triggering the recover boost. lets say Mk2, (i might have remembered this in reverse) first you lose your head, dropping your accuracy and losing your vulcans. then you lose your left arm, unable to reload your primary weapon.. leaving you with only a beam saber. i cant remember the specific of the others i think zeta is head or grenade launcher based on the main weapon then waverider parts reducing your MA mode speed and thrust gauge. Rx78 is head then left arm, mimicking the final battle of A baoa qu. Gms also the same. the only units immune to the loss of parts is Big Zam/elmeth.. as in you dont see any actual loss of parts. i did play AEUG vs TItans in the arcades. one guy kept challenging me and my friend... he used the zeta, i was a Mk2 user, my friend was hambrabi or ashimar main. being cheaper units, we managed to keep him from winning. final round, we decided to end his fun. we picked space and we went with twin balls... balls are very cheap... we could afford to die 5 times total. he only needed to die twice. balls also can snipe... press and hold down the target change button. balls reload very fast. so we kept dodging and sniping him. we finished it off with the manipulator attack
I remember buying just one Gundam game for my PS2. My friends were big into Gundam, but I wasn't (although I somewhat enjoyed watching Gundam Wing piecemeal), so it was really REALlY confusing. I think it was this one, as I did enjoy the Zeta Gundams, but I can't be sure if it was this one or another game. I guess there were a lot more PS2 Gundam games than I ever thought.
As a fan who only got into Gundam because of Gundam Wing, games like this felt unrecognizable on the sale shelf. As such, I skipped them. Now looking back, and a much bigger Gundam fan than I was as a kid, I feel like I missed out on a golden age of games packed with the kind of content I yearn for nowadays.
I have played this game back in the days (2005) in my local arcade . It was amazing . I think this was second after earth vs zeon one on arcade also. I played it nihon cuz it was imported from japan. amazing game, has land and space stage.
one of the most fun imo is versus mode with all units set as AI and using Gyan in space or using space fighters and watch them trying very hard to hit their opponents lmao
Answer: yes 😂 JtJ and FvZ were my original "wow UC Gundam is fun" games but when I finally picked up this masterpiece (and by that point it had become hard to find second-hand, commanding an impressively-high GameStop used price), there was just no looking back.
I rather enjoyed the hell out of this game, and was rather bummed out later when I sold it while I was younger....I mean I was in my early 20's when this came out and I got it because Federation VS Zeon was to me an amazing game. Nothing better than setting yourself up as a Ball going against Char Gelgoogs with the goal not to die ONCE. The only real gripe I had about this is if you had a transforming mobile suit you kind of just flew around like a moth, never really at a straight line or a planned course, you sorta just go zoom one way zoom another way and then timed out and you transform back to MS mode.
realistic Gundam graphic with Unreal Engine 5 would be much better. As much as we like to nostalgia with 2000s graphic, time moves on and they need to catch up or they'll lose competition with other games. Would be even better if they also make full motion VR Gundam cockpit simulator, just like there are full motion racing simulator and full motion flight simulator.
Loved this game growing up and love how much of the original music and even the same actors were used to voice the lines from the anime. This game is ironically what made me want to watch Zeta Gundam and explore the UC Timeline as a whole. P.S. If you like Z Gundam’s soundtrack it looks like it’s on iTunes at the moment.
I've always considered this to be the best Gundam game. I haven't played the full Universal Century mode, but I keep coming back to the survival mode to see how good of a score I could get.
I played Federation vs Zeon back in the day and loved going through it's story mode. While I think Maxi Boost On is a better overall Gundam fanservice game, this looks to be a good UC fan service game along with Gundam Battle Universe on the PSP. I feel like if someone wants to get into Gundam "What Ifing", this and Gihren's Greed are must plays. I need to get around to playing this.
I personally prefer Federation vs Zeon because I like the campaign mode where you are playing as a regular mobile suit pilot instead of the heroes a lot more even though Zeta is my favorite UC series of those dubbed so far. Now a version with a campaign mode based on the Federation vs Zeta style and the UC mode separate would have been incredible.
This era was the peak of Gundam games. I know the versus and breaker games are popular still today. But they're way too arcadey for my tastes. This versus game is arcadey, but still manages to preserve the feel of Gundam. And really understands the history as evident by the ability to play alternate timelines with characters who originally died. I just wish they hadn't shutdown the studio that worked on Zeonic Front. It was the last 'thinking' Gundam game. Where tactics actually mattered. Combine Zeonic Front's tactics system with a good combat system. And we'd have some amazing Gundam.
If there’s one thing that really annoys me about Gundam games is that there is yet to be a new one that is more story driven. I would love to experience either Gundam retold through a game or an original story. Guess I’ll check out some of the old ones like this one, even if it’s not much there either
I feel like the situation is different from Dragon Ball in that the Gundam Vs series never stopped, and unlike Tenkaichi got a lot more in depth with it's mechanics to the point where later games MBON and X Boost have dedicated competitive scenes. MBON has even had side tournaments at EVO and other major fighting game events, even though arena fighters normally aren't viewed as deep or competitive games. MBON is the series favorite and likely has more waaaay fans the Gundam Vs Zeta Gunddam because of how big and dedicated the competitive scene is and how it was and still is the only easily accessible game in the series atm in the West. But I definitely think you're onto something in that Gundam Vs Zeta Gundam provides something later games don't. Later VS games like MBON and XBoost games focus on more widely covering various Gundam shows, with very limited representatives for each show. But because of that what if format for the single player mode and the more focused roster, it's still a treat for UC nerds. It's definitely why I occasionally find myself returning to it after all these years even if I could be playing XBoost instead.
This game is probably the best U.C package. I wish it would have gone into Star Dust Memory, 8th MS Team and Chars Counter Attack with its story and mechs but overall its almost the perfect U.C game.
exvs gamese are fast but you need like a fuckton of button presses to move in a direction the correct way like, hold direction, press boost two times, release boost, press boost again to go up, release direction while you go up, release boost then hold direction again while descending. this only to move in a direction with a good boost management. They are incredibly clunky, if you count also things like charge partitioning, stepboost etc
This game is the grandfather of the extreme vs series actually, from this onwards they’ve been improving the formula to what we known today

My friends and I played this on PS2 so much that I can tell you the survival mode stops buffing the enemy at round 60
Thanks for another video on the Gundam franchise !
pcx2 is the way to go. runs on anything. then check vimm’s lair for games
i literally play gundam vs zeta on my work mac sometimes
This NA version dropped the network battle mode of JP original which are still playing by many in private servers today
Appreciate it! There's a surprisingly small amount of content based around these gems, happy to cover them!
This game made me fell in love the show's OST. One of my top fav OST in a Gundam show.
Yes. I loved federation vs zeon as a kid, and didn't get this game until around 2010, but once I played it, I never had to play Fed Vs Zeon again because this game is basically that game with 100x more features and a better story mode, plus all of zeta gundam
After just finishing Fed vs Zeon recently, I 100% agree
I have so much nostalgia for this game, especially the desert map with a giant cliff
The sequels to this title are very obscure and most people only now about Extreme VS which happened way later when Capcom lost the rights to these games.
what is the sequel? I only know gvg and rengo vs zaft
Rengou vs ZAFT
The sequel was Rengou vs ZAFT 2 plus and has a great line up
Plus the game engine are very refined and improved @@Wolfedge75
The game is a sequel to Federation vs. Zeon, which was an arcade game turned PS2 game. You should review that next and compare, though playing Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam is like having dessert first before dinner.
I will 100% do a comparison!
I traded my cousin a copy of GTA San Andreas for this game. Best decision I ever made.
Great video. I've played this game alot and 100% it. You can feel the evolution creeping in that would lead to the extreme versus series starring to come in.
I've gotten back into gunpla after a decade long hiatus and of course I'm playing this since 2005 lol
All I have ever wanted out of a Gundam game is a revived and expanded Universal Century Mode.
Since you're in a Gundam binge as of late, why not try Mobile Suit Gundam: One Year War from Project Pegasus? Encounters in Space is fantastic, but if you're looking for the best experience of Amuro's OYW, that game would be the best.
That's if he could find the PS2 disc copy. Honestly if you try to emulate that game it will always crash at the lalah fight
A game like this with BO2’s suit roster is something I’d buy twice.
This one by far was my absolute favorite! the what if's the BGM's, all the suits man i wish i could go back and play this
after all these years i still play this but federation vs zeon dx is my favorite specially with the campaign mode on which you can do 200 missions or more, truly a masterpiece and theres a campaign mode you unlock after finishing both sides and you can use all the mobile suits from either side
In Asia we played the entire series from Gundam to Zeta vs Gundam Dx in arcades and we spent so much money on those machines on VS games. Good times.
Federation vs zeon, gundam vs zeta, and zeonic front were my top gundam games when I was young
my husband loved the Dreamcast Gundam Side story White Dingos!
From playing it i can see what he loves it he grew up with Mechwarrior and is ex-military and towards the end of his military career he got to cross train into Armored division.
I know it’s not ps2 but i know it’s something my husband is stuck on
The alternate story beats sound really bloody cool!
Not just the best PS2 Gundam game, but the best gundam game of all time, even after 20 years since its release.
100% going to check this out!!
@@JarboeGaming One thing I didn't state is it's import only but it's very easy to play once you understand the menus that aren't in English. Japanese audio but since you'll already know what's happening by area and people who are speaking, that's not an issue.
We need these kinda gundam games but with modern hardware
💯💯💯
I played Federation vs Zeon, and I loved all the little details and Easter eggs. I'll have to try and find a copy of this one
12:28 I remember this ability revival was exclusive to the Zeta suits in Vs next plus- made the same sound too.
You should check out the game that came before, Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon. Both really fun imo.
He just put a video out about the game :)
@ninjabreadman8166 awesome! I'll go look for it!
The Gundam game I always forget even exists. I'll have to play this one day, it looks great.
I totally recommend "Another Century's Episode" on PS2 to feel a crazy Gundam cross-over, it is an amazing game with a huge roster from Amuro Ray to Heero Yuy
I got every gundam game I could growing up. This one and zeonic front are the ones I played the most.
This channel is legit! Auto subscribe! Let's Go! From PH 🇵🇭
My first VS game I’ve played but also, would have to agree that this is my fave! It felt grounded, looked great, and the music (being the original score) was awesome and suited the game very well
This is definitely one of my favorite Gundam games.
7:35 the invincibility frames added challenge because if you wanted to combo on an enemy, you had to coordinate your shots with your ally's. it wws great. I would frequently watch an enemy fire a beam at someone, then time my beam so it hits right after theirs, effectively stunlocking for a bit
The game that got me into Gundam.
GOD, I LOVE TO QUOTE THE VOICELINES FROM THE GAME.
also I think the issue of friendly fire...it's kinda needed for some of the scenarios...especially the ones that require friendlies dying to unlock certain paths...in fact to unlock the Char starts Char's Counterattack VERY early scenario, you need to get to the right stage (after MAJORITY of the things are unlocked) then you need to win the stage but AFTER Lalah dies on Char's side and Sayla dies on Amuro's side and if I recall Sayla is in the Core fighter (or was that the Core tank?
Yeah I would've put tons of hours into this as a kid! Absolutely incredible how much it offers.
And that is a super cool detail, thanks for sharing.
I remember rage throwing my ps2 controller on a certain stage.
I felt those feelings building up a couple times 😂😂
Lots of melee combo moves in this one. My favorite is the Gundam MK-II spinning slash
So this is where Gundam Vs. starts? I played quite a bit of OMNI vs ZAFT II+ and I thought that was the first one (or rather, the game this is a sequel to).
The fact this has English text makes me wanna play it, though my lack of familiarity with UC holds me back
Technically Federation vs Zeon was the beginning, at least this game was the successor to it.
This game has been one of my absolute favorites ever. I will never regret playing this. Matter fact, I’m playing it right now lol
Its a blast, we're gonna be returning to it in the near future ❤️
I really liked this game and fed vs zeon. Fed vs Zeon has such a huge place in my heart due to how much I played it before this game came out to the point i still preferred the it over gundam vs zeta, mostly not caring about the battle gauge. But I loved all the what if missions and the choice of 3 sides.
I still play fed vs zeon from time to time even now cause a lot of old ps2 games are just better imo than what currently gets pushed out
Honestly, it would be sweet to get a game similar to this in PS4/PS5 that includes more stories (for example, events of GBO2: Code Fairy) and even different eras.
zero-G is kinda realistic.. without pressing your boost, you rotate around your center.
your hitbox is dependent on the orientation, and your missiles have a parabolic arc... allowing you to aim from behind debris.
you can actually command your ally to adopt a combat stance,
its Normal, Close range, long range, assist or evade.
Normal is they do their own thing.
close range they use melee most of time.
Long range is basically sniping.
assist is they support fire on whomever you have targeted,
evade is they stay away from combat only taking pot shots at the enemy.
as for the recover mechanic, its not where you got hit... there's a mechanic for most mobile suits
i set the bar to short but fast fill to keep triggering the recover boost.
lets say Mk2, (i might have remembered this in reverse)
first you lose your head, dropping your accuracy and losing your vulcans.
then you lose your left arm, unable to reload your primary weapon.. leaving you with only a beam saber.
i cant remember the specific of the others
i think zeta is head or grenade launcher based on the main weapon then waverider parts reducing your MA mode speed and thrust gauge.
Gundam Vs zeta was one of my favorite PS2 era gundam games followed closely by zeonic front
This game made me watch the first 2 series and got me deep in the universal century.
I played it nihon cuz it was imported from japan. amazing game, has land and space stage.
one of the most fun imo is versus mode with all units set as AI and using Gyan in space
or using space fighters and watch them trying very hard to hit their opponents lmao
Answer: yes 😂
JtJ and FvZ were my original "wow UC Gundam is fun" games but when I finally picked up this masterpiece (and by that point it had become hard to find second-hand, commanding an impressively-high GameStop used price), there was just no looking back.
I was always a G Gundam kid so when I played this I was just shocked how different the series used to be
@@KaoticReach1999 Man G Gundam is one of my favorites, love that series so much
realistic Gundam graphic with Unreal Engine 5 would be much better.
You need to make a Gundam games tier list after you've reviewed them all
I never stopped playing this game
I’m thankful that this game exists but I’m still only playing gundam vs gundam next plus
Guess I’ll check out some of the old ones like this one, even if it’s not much there either
thanks for the video. If you dont mind consider the original aspect ratio of the game next time.
Greetings from Argentina
this was my favorite game as a kid. Highly recommend Gundam crossfire on the ps3.
All I want is a remaster of this game
Your gameplay looks so good what emulation settings are you using??
This game was so much fun in the arcade.
"I prefer the battle where I can walk in" and then next iteration of versus never have actual 0G fight
Wish they brought this to steam :( And make a character creation version with more eras
This game is probably the best U.C package. I wish it would have gone into Star Dust Memory, 8th MS Team and Chars Counter Attack with its story and mechs but overall its almost the perfect U.C game.
The game that came before this, Federation Vs Zeon was really good as well.
Actually have a video coming out for it today ❤️
Was my favorite gundam game as a kid and my friend borrowed it and never gave it back haha
@@Crowdmissle76 Bro hit them up 😂😂
exvs gamese are fast but you need like a fuckton of button presses to move in a direction the correct way
like, hold direction, press boost two times, release boost, press boost again to go up, release direction while you go up, release boost then hold direction again while descending. this only to move in a direction with a good boost management. They are incredibly clunky, if you count also things like charge partitioning, stepboost etc
Gundam Battle Assault 2 has always been my favorite Gundam game
Wish they would just port this as well as the other gundam VS games to pc/steam would be nice
