    Thanks for that eye-opener. I guess with a family and all it cost more. But, as I have mentioned before, I just pay one price per month, less than $900 for my furnished home, and it includes unlimited propane gas, electric, water, wifi, cable television, security and housekeeping. I don't pay any insurance except my health insurance that I have from my prior job that can be used in Mexico. I do leave the housekeepers 200 pesos for each semi-weekly cleaning, but I clean everything and wash clothing etc, when necessary myself, they provide new towels, linen etc.
    I think I'll stay right where I am! :D I was extremely lucky to find this place, and hope to stay here indefinitely.

    • @Mexitplans
      @Mexitplans  3 роки тому +3

      Absolutely. I’ve Never seen so many things included for one price. I wouldn’t leave that situation either. That’s the Jackpot.

    • @GlobalAdventurer
      @GlobalAdventurer 3 роки тому +1

      @@Mexitplans I know! The actual price I pay is exactly $810 total. I paid that amount for one ROOM in a guesthouse in this same neighborhood. That';s why I took this place as soon as the dates opened up. And like you said. You need people to come when you're not at home so they can catch water leaks, bugs or anything else that can happen when a property is unoccupied. They do that free and touch up on dusting and water the plants.

    • @Mexitplans

      That’s legit.

      @@Mexitplans Just want to add, my house has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. LOL But, it's just me, and I figure if I ever have a guest over they will have their own bedroom and bath. But, for me I use the extra bedroom as my office. And the 2nd bathroom is on the ground floor where service folks or whoever, can use it without going further into the house. So, I'm straight! Don't need anything else.

    • @GlobalAdventurer
      @GlobalAdventurer 3 роки тому +2

      @@Mexitplans ....one last thing I forgot to mention, is that it comes with a garage. But, I don't have a car so I don't use it. But, it's good to know there's one just in case. The owners have another house that's $200 more per month than the one I'm renting, but it doesn't have a garage. But, it has two patios instead of just the one I have.

    We pay quite a bit more for health and car insurance, which I'm suddenly not thrilled about. Obviously there are variables but I have the feeling like us, you get full coverage and top shelf private care, I'll be looking into this. Our largest bill is internet and the lowest is electricity with water not much more. Our overall cost of living monthly is much less as we own our house and pay no rent, and a giant solar array on the roof is pretty sweet. Also living in Santiago in Centro we rarely use Uber or drive locally as we walk to shop, eat and drink which is a money saver over time. The reality is one can pay virtually nothing for a house outside the periferico or spend US money to live in centro, but generally a person can maintain a standard of living here similar to what they know in the States for far less money.

    • @Mexitplans

      Quick tip: Use a conversion ratio of 20:1 It makes it easier. I can speak in dollars but you will never pay for anything in dollars unless you are in a tourist zone and then you conversion will be horrible like 17:1. Being able to convert on the fly in a handy skill to learn. If you plan to live here you will need to learn.

      We cannot afford that, the salaries of 80% of the population are between 200 and 400 dollars per month, the remaining 20% is divided into small groups of people, the first group earns between 600 and 1000 dollars a month, another earns between 1000 and 1500 dollars a month, and a very small one earns 1600 dollars a month and more, and the people who earn that are mostly directors of somewhat large companies etc, so an average local could never pay a monthly payment greater than 300 dollars a month, I am Yucateca, the reality of the new houses that are currently being rented or sale in Yucatan is that they are mainly aimed at a foreign market, whether they are from another country or another state, and it is that in recent years Merida has received a very large amount of foreign people, who come looking for a cheap life and a safe place, which is cheap but for people who earn in dollars, that has caused the market to skyrocket in prices and it is increasingly difficult to acquire a house here for a local .

      Aldo The cost of the rent or sale has to do with the area in which the house is located more than the number of rooms, areas such as Montecristo, Montebello, Campestre, parts of Altabrisa, Temozon, La Ceiba, are areas where there are many mansions and it is a very safe area because the governor, the chief of the police, deputies, senators and many business owners or directors of companies or important stores in Yucatan live there, as well as there are smaller houses but of people who also he is dedicated to business mostly, that's what the price of those areas are high, I live in the north, which is a safe area but I live in a middle-class neighborhood and my monthly rent for a two-bedroom house is 150 dollars a month
